You know you’ve hit the food jackpot when you cut into battered fish and everyone around you can hear the crunch. We visited with my Dad on his 90th birthday. All he asked for was fish and chips. Thank you, The Horseshoes, for making it possible for us to fulfil his birthday wish so perfectly. His beer was spot on too.

Excellent lunch at this lovely, cosy old pub, not our first visit, certainly not the last - beautifully prepared hake with boiled potatoes and pasta, while I had more traditional haddock, in perfect crispy batter, complemented by perfect crispy chips, served by Phoebe and her equally friendly and welcoming colleagues. We'll be back.

An excellent restaurant, friendly staff and lovely food. Very fairly priced for the standard of food. Particularly impressed by the careful double-checking in the kitchen for gluten-free food orders. I am Coeliac and have been “glutened” in at least two restaurants, but this one has a double-checking system where this is highly improbable. Very pleasant interiors, attractive old building in a lovely old village, - a must if you haven’t tried it yet. Highly recommended.

Whenever we visit this pub there seems to be some issue more often than not. This time, although a fair few people drinking inside, when we walked in we were politely told they were shut and to come back at 5pm. This was 3.20pm on a lovely day when hundreds of people were on the beach and would most likely wanted a drink. I understand them closing the kitchen at that time, but the whole pub? Maybe its a thing around this area, but no wonder local pubs are failing.

A truly epic Sunday roast lunch. The food was fantastic - beautifully tender meat, monster Yorkshire puddings, a great range of fresh vegetables and utterly perfect roast potatoes. Can you tell I enjoyed it? My partner had beef and I chose lamb and we were both delighted. We found room for pudding too - apple and blackberry crumble for me and mango pavlova for him - also home made and delicious. Great value for money, friendly service and relaxing. Thank you!

The Three Horseshoes at Burton Bradstock in Dorset provides a fantastic all round service and great food, totally recommended. We went there on Wednesday evening and had a really enjoyable time, the pub is always really busy and a great atmosphere. The food options are extensive and the place is very dog friendly. Staff were attentive and hard working. The main of Lamb, potato gratin, parsnips and lovely blackcurrant cabbage was melt in the mouth and dessert of apple and blackberry crumble perfect. Ate here in the evening after a very wet Saturday's walking along the West Coast Path. We were booked in as a large group and well looked after (despite our dis shelved appearance). Food and service was excellent. Broad selection of local ales on tap which was good to see (plus enjoy drinking). Menu had some interesting variety to it and the dishes were well prepeared and tasty. On a wet day it was very homely inside, which you always hope for with a country pub.

Another trip away in our Motorhome to Litton Lakes. Walked to the 3 HORSESHOES for our evening meal. An OOPS! to start I’m afraid…so 4 instead of 5. I love dogs, honestly, so pleased they are a dog friendly establishment. If you know me..( see past reviews) far too many dogs in the garden area at the same time.🫤 There were X12 dogs whilst we visited for our meal. Within x10 feet, they were being fed from the tables with their paws up on the tables as well as being fed whilst sitting on owners laps. 😏Enough about the lovely dogs. SO! The important stuff…..Dinner..(T as I’m Scottish) Be prepared to wait for a table as it’s a very popular pub. (Dogs galore adds to this) We got a table in the garden around 5pm. Waitress service was quick and pleasant, we ordered our drinks but waited a bit too long for them to be delivered. A waitress realised, apologised then we had them within X2 minutes. My Wife ordered the VEGGIE GARDEN BURGER ….she LOVED it! (She says…you don’t need the coleslaw as whatever is in the burger makes it an unnecessary addition.) I had the local Spring Lamb Rump. 😋… Lamb with Mash Potato, Savoy Cabbage, Roast Carrots & Jus. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! Roasting the carrots is a great idea with just cabbage. (No bloody pickled red cabbage !) The Jus (gravy, sorry chef) was lovely. When it arrived, stacked, I didn’t think it was going to be enough for a full main course, not true when spread out and devoured. All of the veg was cooked really well and the LAMB was cooked perfect! I wasn’t asked how I wanted my Lamb cooked when I ordered it…being a meat eater, I’d expect it no more done than medium and I wasn’t disappointed. Will we return? Absolutely! We’ve found a lovely little site along the road. Please don’t change a thing. p.s. especially the CHEF!!! 🙏🏽 Xx

I stopped by for lunch on a Thursday & sat in the garden. Its a nice pub, ordered ribs & dirty fries. The ribs were not fall off the bone but were tasty - the fries obviously were crispy at one point but serving them in a bowl smothered with cheese traps moisture so they lost their crispyness shame. Other diners were asked if they wanted other drinks for some reason I wasnt eveb after waiting 40 mins this really made me feel unwelcome. I had to leave my table to order a dessert, affogato (with choice of ice cream) a fav of mine... but having left my table another diner thoight it was free and sat there leaving my.only option the mid day sun outside. I complained about service but the barman looked at me as if i had spoken klingon ! With a little attention to detail and improved service this could be so good. As it is I walked one and half hour from Bridport to come here and left really wishing I hadn't. The palmers 200 beer was good though

I can firmly recommend this restaurant. We came here for a dinner and were very surprised. Everything was exceptionally tasty and very well decorated. Service was fast, the waitresses were all friendly. The food took a while but the place was full. We sat in the dog friendly garden. We had three starters to share, prawns, the cauliflower and BBQ pulled pork. Especially the cauliflower was awesome. To the point. Lots of spices, great sauce, spicy. The fries were crisp even covered with sauce. We then shared the fish curry. Another surprise. Also spicy, the rice was perfect, crisp vegetables and a delightful sauce over the shrimps, the fish and the mussels which were outstanding huge. The prices for such high quality are very OK. The negative reviews could be explained by the season. We were told that during summer vacation the near campground is flooded with people who then also flood this place.

Popped in for a bite to eat at lunchtime as someone had recommended this place. We walked in on a Wednesday lunchtime in April, and it was packed with everyone eating. It was a lovely day (probably the only one in April), and we have a dog, so we went out into the beer garden. There were only a few of us out there, but even so, there is a vibe that just makes you feel comfortable and welcome. I ordered 3 small plates, including the dirty fries, (which you must try) and my husband, the fish baguette. Service was with a smile, and the food was presented lovely. Because I ordered the large crevettes and the koren wings, I was given both a bowl for the shells and a finger bowl to clean my fingers after the sticky wings, plus a lemon wet wipe. Every mouthful was a delight. It was the perfect amount for the snack we were looking for, and there was nothing we could fault. The crevettes were indeed large and cooked perfectly, the sticky wings were coated in lots of the beautiful sweet Korean sauce and the dirty fries were really moreish and I don't normally do chips. The fish baguette had deliciously fresh white hake, which was lightly battered and sat upon homemade tartar sauce accompanied by a portion of side salad. Since returning home, we have both commented that lunch at The Three Horseshoes was the best food during our stay in Dorset and we highly recommend that if you are anywhere near this place, it is well worth a little detour. When we hopefully return to Dorset next year, we will definitely be doing just that.

This is a lovely, busy village pub with great food and fantastic ales that you need to book! Initial welcome super friendly, efficiently ushered through to restaurant. Big ✅! Food is served in both restaurant and bar so 4 staff serving. Makes sense. One obviously training and shadowing. No worries. We’ve all been there!! Friendly, courteous and smiley servers. Drinks order taken quickly and arrived fairly promptly but it was busy so, of course, there’s a slight delay! No problem. Drinks arrive. Beer fantastic! Very clear and bright. 👍 Food order was efficiently taken and repeated back. Excellent. This isn’t a fast food joint so we understand things take time. Happy to wait. Another drink order taken and received. Brilliant. Food comes out. Looks amazing! Tastes amazing. Outstanding in presentation, taste and quality. Wowsers!! Super yummy and delicious. 😋 Check back on food well timed and courteous. Food finished. Plates cleared. Bill asked for. Now we hit a snag! We waited and waited and waited. Servers passed us by. Tried to get their attention. Got smiled at a lot. But no bill. After maybe 15-20 minutes (not an exaggeration as we were entertained by DD)! Eventually, we went to the bar to pay. Such a shame! No itemised bill, even though one was asked for. Roughly worked it out and it seemed right. Such a disappointment as the rest of the evening was great! If only the whole evening had ended as it started! Still, the food was truly excellent!

Booked dinner for 2 (+ small dog) on the Thursday before Easter, while staying in Burton. I ordered a burger, partly to see how it would be served, as I have had an excellent lunch recently, in the 3 Horseshoes. It was really good, served with crispy bacon just as I had asked and full of flavour. My wife had mussels in a cream & cider sauce which she was very happy with. A pudding had to be shared which was great. All the while the atmosphere in the pub was fabulous with locals drinking and talking, lots of well-behaved dogs and great service from the pub team.

What's not to like? A welcoming ancient pub, with separate bar (dog friendly) and dining area. Good selection of local ales (I'm a fan of the Dorset Copper). Friendly bar and front of house staff. And then there's the food... Their fish selection is delicious. I went for a mix of lightly battered sea bream, squid and prawn, with a light micro salad and moorish sauce. There were lots of diverse fish dishes I could have eaten! Their seafood ploughman's, curry and specials also had my mouth watering. My aunt had local lamb with jus and seasonal veg. She cleaned her plate, which is a shame, as I'd have liked to have tried it 😂 thankfully my daughters didn't manage their giant portions. Good chips, freaking delicious burger. Very reasonable at £8 including a drink and scoop of ice cream for dessert. Thanks to the pub staff for fitting us in as a walk in. Deservedly busy. Very glad we got to experience this gem 💎 💜

We were traveling home after our holiday and booked for Sunday Lunch on the recommendation of my friend who lives locally. We tried last year but sadly no tables left. You were full when I rang but I left my number in case of a cancellation. A lovely lady kindly rang me and offered me the table. That’s great customer service and I really appreciate it. What a delightful experience it was from the minute we walked in the door Very busy but only waited a moment to be spoken too. We had a lovely sunny table in the window which was great. Two of us had the roast , one lamb and one chicken. I have to compliment you as it was one of the best ever roast dinners we’ve had. Cooked to perfection and served with a smile. The mussels also excellent and very much enjoyed. Great atmosphere. Great staff. Great chef team. Sadly no room for dessert but they looked excellent. We parked at the Hive, enjoying a coffee on the beach and a trip up the hill, then a short walk around to the pub. We really enjoyed the seafood dishes we chose, lovely combined flavours ~ a little bit different and nicely presented. Yummy puddings! Good friendly, polite service.

Taken here for a birthday treat and what a treat. Seven of us in the party atmosphere great, service good and food excellent. Five of us had the lamb, the others had steak and pastor. All seven plates were empty as testament to how good the food was. Apart from a yapping dog we had a lovely time. Not the first time we’ve been and never been disappointed apart from not getting a table, you have to book.

Just had a quick drink after a lovely cliff top walk along the coastal path from Hive beach. Lovely pub in a great location and a beautiful day to sit outside in the sun with a well deserved drink!

Best Sunday Roast I have had in a long time. Lovely pink tender beef, tasty roast potatoes and perfect selection of veg including my favourite cheesy leeks. Extra jug of gravy without asking. We both ate every single morsel. Followed by apple and plum crumble and clotted cream to share. Absolutely delicious.

A proper pub, lovely hosts, good selection of draught beers lagers and ciders all at sensible prices, excellent choice of food both hot & cold well plated and promptly brought to table . Plenty of comfortable seating in small groups or sit at the bar.

We had a large party of family meet for the carvery. Food was given out very swiftly and plenty of veg options. Very eager to please staff, especially after numbers changing on short notice (our issue, not the restaurant). Will highly recommend a visit.

We were camping just down the road this past weekend and decided to have a browse - I'm glad we did as there was much more to this farm shop than I was expecting. Lots of different produce and gifts type things all quite nicely set out. Some things were sensibly priced considering you do expect to pay a slight premium at a farm shop (postcards 50p, fresh scones £1, clotted cream £1.99), but some of the prices were a little shocking - there were loaves of fresh bread at £4.50 and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the price of ice cream being served at the side of the car park! Overall a worthwhile trip - the scones were delicious, good selection of ciders and got some lovely warm slipper socks. I'd recommend popping in if you're passing (the views are fantastic too) just don't expect any bargains.
