Another fantastic lunch at The Eggcup! Abbi accommodated 38 of us for an amazing Sunday lunch. We pre-ordered our meals, as we were such a large party celebrating my father’s birthday weekend, and the staff, as always, went above and beyond for us. It is set in such a lovely area and run by a beautiful family. The flavour of the meals is 100% and you always feel full to the brim with their generous portion sizes. If you haven’t tried their roast dinners, you really are missing out. I ordered a birthday cake for my dad’s party and it delivered on every aspect. The wow factor in presentation (people are still commenting on it) The taste was so fresh and light. Not too sweet and held its shape perfectly in your hand. I gave them a free rein in what sort of cake, and knowing what flavours my dad likes. They came up with a wonderful Eton mess cake, topped with fresh berries and meringue. It was out of this world! The staff at The Eggcup really helped my dad have a fantastic 70th birthday and we are very glad to have this gem on our doorstep. Thank you to Abbi, Jess and the whole team.

Lovely location with views to die for! Food homemade and beautifully cooked. We particularly love the lasagne! Service polite and non obtrusive but friendly too. Food can take awhile to arrive during busier periods but that’s not a problem for us as we are on holiday and not in a race against time!

Disappointing on the whole. The prawn skewers and salad was very minimal , not enough for a normal adult. The cream tea scone was hard and dry, needing to be returned. The worst part was the 50 minute wait time. We were told after we had ordered and paid that it would be a 30 minute wait but this extended to almost an hour and my pregnant daughter was feeling weak and faint by then. Staff were unapologetic and merely attempted to justify their inabilities. Will not go back.

Outstanding Sunday dinner! Went with two little ones and my mom and enjoyed an incredible Sunday dinner. The lamb was melt in the mouth to die for! As were the puddings! Great food, great service, great setting. Stopped En-route to campsite as haven't stopped in for a couple.of years since Covid gloom. As ever there was a friendly greeting and helpful staff. Drinks arrived within 10mins and food followed after another 15mins or so. The whole experience was great. The washrooms are very clean and the tables cleared quickly. The garden is a lovely spot with a view over the hills but can be very windy. There is a kids farm next door and a campsite which I have never tried but looked a worthwhile visit. Will always happily visit here after having never had a bad meal in several stops now. Great sized, tasty portions and lovely ladies. Please do give them a try. Also selling jams, chutneys and local food stuff to take home. Well done teacup.

We booked a table for a small family gathering on Mother’s Day. Generous portions of delicious meats, tasty vegetables and traditional accompaniments were all served with a smile. Puddings here are absolutely fabulous. We opted for various homemade delights including a yummy apple and plum crumble, with ice cream and custard, panacotta with poached rhubarb and cream filled brandy snap, Black Forrest roulade and the most spectacular lemon meringue cheesecake I have ever eaten! Brilliant value, excellent service and amazing food. Highly recommended.

Seems fine when you get there, decent menu and reasonable pricing. Ordered breakfasts with Americanos with cold milk on side - got 2 latte with cold milk on side. Looked great with home-made sausage but as I started eating, realised plate was swimming in oil, bacon cooked so long it was like cardboard - not pleasant at all. Wife had a breakfast butty and that was better and better value too. OK but not again - repeated all day long.

A family lunch with young children made extremely stressful by awful service. Nearly an hour waiting for sandwiches on a relatively quiet weekday. Staff moving at a snails pace and completely oblivious to how unhappy other tables were. We haven’t been to the tearooms for a number of years because of how bad the service was previously. We had hoped in five or more years it would have improved, unfortunately it has not and we won’t return. It’s such a shame because with the right people/staff running this cafe it could be lovely...good location and small children’s animal farm attached.

Having not been to this establishment for 18 months we called in for lunch mid week at around 1.30pm sat outside, we ordered, our tea came out promptly but we noticed there were no boxes on the tables with condiments or menus in, no hot water with the tea, teapot, and milk jug smaller, after waiting over 45 minutes out meal came out, I had no more tea to drink and the half in hubby's cup was cold. Ok meal was up to good standard, but this is the 2nd we have waited so long. A table of 8 waited as long if not longer as the meals didn't come out together with at least a 5 min wait in between each couples meals. Another couple BN waited almost 30 mins for a bowl of chips. Sadly after frequenting this establishment over many years and recommending to others, but we will drive past in future, as this is the 2nd time. Had when we ordered we had been told there was a long wait we probably would have waited, as that would show good customer service.

We recently visited as a family for breakfast. We chose the veggie and the full English. Both offered a choice of toast, fried bread or hash browns and an orange juice included in the price which was a nice touch. The veggie option included a couple of Glamorgan ‘sausages’ which are basically cheese and leek croquettes, very tasty, and the meat option included home reared bacon and sausage which, I’m told, were delicious. All of the food was good quality, well presented and HOT which is so often not the case!

Stopped here recently for breakfast. On first impressions all seemed well but we were left waiting 40 minutes for eggs on toast and a sausage sandwich. No apologies were made for the delay so maybe this is normal? No one else was in front of us and the people who ordered after us also seemed fed up with the wait. When the food finally arrived it was nice enough however I was extremely disappointed that margarine was used on the break instead of real butter!

This from a person who rarely gives 5* but the Full English Small breakfast was one of the best Ive ever eaten. Helped by the fact that the sausage was farm made on site and huge besides being very tastey. I only turned into the drive off the main A road out of Burton Bradstock because at 8.30 i was looking for a brekkie place and nothing was open. How lucky was that for me. very nice & tidy little cafe at the back of farm buildings with a lovely garden area to sit out in (too windy for me). the food was beautifully cooked and presented. Hubby opted for the full English with toast, and I went for the smaller version with fried bread. Sat in the garden with our dog, all by ourselves, and enjoyed the peace, apart from the birds and a few animal noises from the farm. It always amazes us that although bearing in mind the close location of the busy coast road, whilst sat outside here, no traffic passing can be heard.

Egg cup is one of those small out of the way places that is normally a local secret, just off the coast road between Portland and Bridport. They have a good menu, their Cream Teas are the best, non of those miniature scones that are rock hard on the outside and dough on the inside. Good portions of Clotted Cream and Jam too. If you visit during the warmer weather you can sit out side and look out over the country side, there is even a chance of having chickens pecking around your feet. If your down that way in the colder weather they have a large cafe area inside with panoramic windows with great views (unless there is low cloud or mist).

This 'young' establishment is slowly improving and will, with time be consistently good. Friendly if a little sombre staff are efficient and produce generally good food in good time. Our cream teas were served well, crockery having a class not expected - so good to get tea in proper tea pots etc. No drips! Criticisms - strawberry jam very ordinary and clotted cream stiff and overly heavy. Indoor tables and chairs excellent; outside garden benches ideal for families and those with canines.

Dogs allowed in the garden but not inside.

Very slow with our order of two paninis even though it was not busy. The Latinos were covered in sesame seeds although no mention was made on the menu.

Abby and her team recently catered for my daughter's wedding. The food was excellent, the scones to die for. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I'm pleased to say that the buffet was received very well by the guests, with very little left over.I would have no hesitation with using these people again, the price charged was very reasonable, and we were also able to enjoy lunch whilst doing the arrangements!!!With grateful thanks from all of us

This place has the best cream teas on the planet, and I have tried a few other places. Wasn't sure I wanted to pass this on though, don't want the place too packed out!! You get huge scones and plenty of cream and jam, delicious.

Visited on our way to the beach. Being renovated, but still friendly welcome and lovely cream tea (mid-morning tea break really!). Also bought a chocolate cream "scotch egg" for later, very rich and tasty.

Lovely hotel and friendly helpful staff. Pricey at £350 B&B with very average rooms but good breakfast, although service very slow. Sadly not accessible for those with mobility disorders as no lift, steep stairs and few accessible bathrooms However, marvellous for lunch or dinner on a day out

We had a great dinner at the Arts Club. The food was wonderful, the staff were excellent and, being a lovely summer evening, we dined outside in the pretty and surprisingly quiet courtyard.

We were camping just down the road this past weekend and decided to have a browse - I'm glad we did as there was much more to this farm shop than I was expecting. Lots of different produce and gifts type things all quite nicely set out. Some things were sensibly priced considering you do expect to pay a slight premium at a farm shop (postcards 50p, fresh scones £1, clotted cream £1.99), but some of the prices were a little shocking - there were loaves of fresh bread at £4.50 and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the price of ice cream being served at the side of the car park! Overall a worthwhile trip - the scones were delicious, good selection of ciders and got some lovely warm slipper socks. I'd recommend popping in if you're passing (the views are fantastic too) just don't expect any bargains.

Ate here Friday evening three of us had wood fired pizzas which were delicious, pleasant staff as always. On the Saturday two of us visited for lunch. We had crab sandwiches with a mixed leaf salad, they were tasty enough but £11 seems too much...

We wanted something less corporate for lunch and was pleased to find this cafe as it looked a little more old school and independent. The build your own breakfast offered great choice and when I said I fancied crumpets with marmite rather then the offered jam, was told this was fine. The crumpets came with a generous serving of marmite in a little bowl. This was a great find and having never been a fan of Dorchester improved my opinions if the town (finding the park also helped improve my opinion of the town) .
