Great service, great food, lovely location! Highly recommend for anyone passing this village.

Great pub , it still has a real pub feeling , great food and staff , well worth a visit and now it has accommodation , and a loverly garden .

It could well be 5 stars. 10 blokes just popped in for a pint after completing a great a great walk from " Circular Pub walks in Dorset". We got a very warm welcome despite some slightly muddy boots and were deighted to have difficulty choosing from FIVE real ales on handpump - all of them in great condition as it turned out. There were quite a few customers starting their Sunday lunch (which did look really good) so we went out into the garden and were unexpectedly treated to a really interesting talk on the owners hobby .. great stuff. I rather wish this pub was my local .. and will certainly be popping back soon to sample Sunday lunch.

A wonderful evening. We received a very warm welcome and were impressed with the food and wine offering. The pub has transformed under the new management. As a vegetarian with allergies, I was very well catered for. The vege lasagne was delicious and presented beautifully. My partner enjoyed an enormous, excellently cooked quality piece of steak with chips, broccoli and salad which was again presented beautifully. The atmosphere in the pub was upbeat and friendly. I can't recommend the Rose and Crown enough.

Popped in for Sunday roast as passing by, gorgeous thatched old country pub with original skittle alley out back. Very cosy relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff as a Sunday we had a very fairly priced carvery with choice or roasts or mixed. Self service vegetables; perfect crispy roast potatoes and excellent cauliflower cheese, parsnips, Yorkshire etc amongst others. All perfectly cooked. We had a great afternoon. We would highly recommend a visit and will go back again.

We've been a few times since the new owners took over. Cannot fault the service, we've just pit stopped and had a quick nibble. Sat in the pretty garden and played boulle (need to find Jack).. anyone seen him? Great wine, child friendly lovely village pub 🍻

Visited for the carvery to celebrate my mother’s birthday. We received a warm welcome and the food was incredibly delicious. I would return every Sunday if I lived closer! You simply must visit if you are in the area.

My family came to experience the carvery this Sunday and we couldn't fault a thing. Staff and atmosphere were lovely. Dogs are welcome, we will be back.

Wow!!! What a transformation this pub has had under new ownership. The staff are super friendly and the food was amazing. Great selection of drinks and the decoration inside and out is beautifully done. Great effort by the new owners. We will certainly be making this one of our regulars again.

We just got back from The Rose and Crown Longburton celebrating hubby's birthday, we had a fantastic meal. He had creamed garlic mushrooms and I had fried halumi, we then had a steak and lasagne both were super. Great atmosphere super food go and try them

Came hear for a carvery with family last Sunday and it was exeptional. I went for a large plate with 3 meats & all the trimming & I couldn't fault a single thing, every thing was cooked to perfection! Would highly recomend a visit hear for a meal, cheers to the Rose & Crown!!!

Friendly, nice pub, lots of private corners for conversations. Pretty beer garden. We just had drinks, no food.

Been in for food this evening! Can honestly say the food was amazing! All made from scratch, and the desserts were amazing! Great portions nothing too much! Definitely be coming again very local to us!

Disappointment we ordered fish and chips and the fish wasn’t gd, very watery and no taste and not hot. Was told it would be taken off bill but it wasn’t and when challenged only took 10% off. Won’t recommend food there

Beer 🍺 very sour first mouthful. Quickly changed then VG. Gammon and pineapple very tasty.

My friend and I arrived late Sunday evening for the pub roast. But we were greeted with a warm welcome, great service and a gorgeous roast dinner, all beautifully cooked, loads to choose from and plenty of it! I would highly recommend this to everyone. You won't be disappointed.

We stopped here on our way back from another pub we we're going to go to. Food was really lovely and the best blue cheese sauce I ve ever had. Really glad we stopped

Fabulous village pub, flourishing under new ownership. The staff are great, really welcoming and the food is very good. Great Sunday Carvery, choice of 4 or 5 meats and huge veg and accompaniment selection.

Absolute gem of a place so lucky to have found it. Beautiful place very relaxing atmosphere. The owner is just lovely and the service was excellent. I am ceoliac and was delighted to see gluten free options beautifully cooked and well presented. Fantastic choice of drinks and I particularly enjoyed the real ciders Highly recommend

Passing through the village we saw the sign advising us of the Rose & Crown so we decided to try it. So glad we did. Quickly seated at a nice table by the fire we were served well by the great team there. The Ploughman’s Lunch was fabulous. Great platter with 2 delicious cheeses, delicious ham and beef, great slaws and pickles etc. My wife had a great chicken sandwich with fries. Prices were fair, and we felt it was great value for money. We shall definitely return again. Thank you both for a lovely lunch

New owners since March 24. Food is good, really tasty and s good portions. This isn’t the cheapest pub you will ever eat at, but o would recommend it. Staff and locals really friendly, attentive service without being fussy. Great specials and desserts

Tried it again but failed to deliver. Expensive food (and rubbish) limp lettuce. Seriously gone downhill. New management do not have a clue. Looks like a scrap heap outside. Why? It's a pub. I, and a lot of people won't return, not impressed

Went for the Sunday carvery and was really impressed. The potatoes were deliciously crunchy and there was a good selection of great tasting veg. Friendly bar staff and the landlady went out of her way to be helpful. We're pretty fussy about a carvery but I honestly can't think of a better one. The new owners are obviously settling in well. We'll be back!

We thought we would try this pub as it’s local. Staff were courteous and food was served in good time. Generally the food lacked a bit of finesse. I started with olives with balsamic/olive oil with bread rolls, unfortunately the rolls were stale and inedible! I had bass for main which was just ok. My wife had a Chicken Salad which was just about ok. Friends had steak which very fatty and blue cheese sauce was like coloured water. It was unfortunate that a nice location was spoiled by a not very good chef. We’ll be going back to the Thimble next week. Oh, and it cost us £140 for 4 !

Lovely local with really decent pub food (lots of GF options for those that are interested) and super friendly staff. If you're in the area it's definitely worth a stop in, for a drink or a bite to eat.

Good choice of ales and ciders, family friendly

First time there since the pub changed hands. Interior still the same. My gripe is with the cost of the food. I did try to find a menu on line beforehand but the only thing I could find was the Sunday carvery. This should have sent alarm bells. Large Sunday carvery now £18.95. This compares to a TWO course Sunday lunch all beautifully presented and very tasty for £19 last week in West Coker. The main menu for some items were there or thereabouts in comparison to other pubs but £12.95 for a SANDWICH is taking the mick. If the food was a cut above the other pubs then maybe - but it’s not so we won’t be returning

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sunday carvery was delicious! I am very particular about my food and I was surprised at how fresh and hot the food was when I came to sit and eat. I honestly can’t fault the food or service received. We arrived late for our table because we had two hungry young children but the staff were not phased in the slightest and couldn’t have been more accommodating. I particularly liked how I was given the option of sitting in the restraunt area or pub. Although the pub looked cozy I thought we were better positioned in the restaurant with young children. The pub offered a range of sized dinners and a good selection of ales. The outdoor area was particularly pretty, it had recently been revamped and I though this would be a lovely area to enjoy a G+T on a hot summer’s day. Overall I felt everybody was extremely friendly and I will definitely be going back again.

We came for the Carvery lunch, while visiting relatives, who have eaten here before and there is plenty of parking. We we had a warm welcome from the lovely young lady, and Domino the dog too. The food was exceptional, so much on offer and everything was delicious. Someone in another comment, did mention the food got cold quickly which one of us did find, maybe warming the plates slightly more, or maybe less talking from the diner and eat while the food is still hot. :-) (Definitely not a criticism)! Next time we visit the area, we will be back for lunch and with more of the family. Good luck for thé future.

Booked a table for the mid-week carvery as it is a good half-way meeting spot for us and family. Very enjoyable carvery and a good selection of sweets finishing up with coffee. Will visit again

absolutely lovely pub , we had my Nephews wake here and they made it perfectly accomodating and the staff were friendly and polite , the food put on was absolutely amazing .

Great Dorset Pub - well kept ales and tasty food!

It was a lovely meal and pleasant friendly staff. We did find the restaurant very cold, which soon cooled the plate of food. Putting heating for an hour before service would make a big difference.

Wonderful carvery lunch. Didn't book but they happily fitted us in. Meat cooked well and fresh veg, not a difficult meal to cater for but so often done badly, not here though. 10 out of 10. We will be back. Thank you.

Our favourite Pub to visit for their Sunday Lunch, We go there once or twice each month. The welcome, service and most of all the quality of food never varies. So many regulars there because of how it's run, makes it feel you are part of a extended family.

Booked table on a Wednesday , carvery and reduced menu pre advised. On arrival not advised that it was carvery only, some of the party would have preferred a meal from the reduced menu. Carvery 7/10. Will not rush back.

We are never disappointed when eating at the Rose & Crown in Longburton, whether it is a breakfast, lunch or dinner. The hosts are very welcoming and accomodating, Nothing is too much trouble. Would highly recomend a visit. Sunday carvery is a must.

I was part of a party of people, we had a cold buffet which I thought was lovely and was able to go back for more as the chef was more than generous with the amount served. The landlady and her staff were welcoming and attentive which made the service friendly but efficient. My desert which a treacle tart was also lovely and an perfect potion for me. Went with a largish group, which is always difficult to cater for, and we're treated to a cold meat buffet. The meats and salads were lovely. The sweets were delicious. We'll done and thank you to all the staff.

Went here in a largish group. We had a cold buffet with dessert.Disappointed that the new potatoes were fridge cold when we were told they would be hot. Salmon had brown edges so didn't touch that.We had to preorder deserts but when they came the roulade and the torte both like they had come out of packets.Didnt taste homemade and were small portions.Felt we were completely over charged for some very basic food.Wont be returning

Very clean and tidy and service was excellent. Food was a little disappointing considering the price.

We met here with some old friends one very quiet Friday evening. There was a good traditional menu supported by a specials board. We all enjoyed our food all of which was well cooked, tasty and came in generous portions and was, importantly, complemented by excellent service. A lovely old pub which has ample free car parking. Good value for money we all thought and so would very happily come here again.

We were all very disappointed with our visit. The food was poor. The service was poor and the atmosphere was no existent. Made to feel very unwelcome by a group of people. Not a nice experience.

Just had a carvery and dessert at the Rose and Crown. It was delicious couldnt fault it at all. Great price for even greater grub! The service was outstanding by everyone not least the young men waiting on our table, so polite and not one of them called us hey guys" which is an absolute trigger for us we hate it!!!! They are an asset to your pub and so is your food so thanks chef for that. Looking forward to our next visit. Jaci and Paul

We went to The Rose and Crown for their Wednesday carvery and dessert deal. We have been multiple times now and it is always absolutely delicious. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely keep returning! Desserts are also outstanding!

Having supported this pub every Sunday until lockdown, through lockdown buying their takeaway meals for friends and neighbours!which were excellent and carvery always good! The price had increased considerably,but to go on mother's Day a further increase of £2 ,with nothing extra!!!! When asked why...

Very welcoming pub, booked late for carvery, and we'll worth the drive out. Staff very helpful. And to top it off was the desserts.... Pink Gin cheese cake. We will be back soon

We really enjoyed the carvery pre lockdown, excellent food,I bought takeaway from them when we could delivering to our neighbors, spending a lot of money, absolutely disgusting thanks from Becky and John Mother's Day £2 Extra because they're busy!!! Nothing extra! Whilst others are offering a glass of wine or flowers Will never support these people again

The owner saw i was having problems walking we had asked if we could eat outside because i felt couldn't walk that far, he produced wheel chair and took me to front door as that was the quickest route and only few steps to table. The staff where very friendly and atentive with out being over the top the carvery good, noticed they won pub of the area for camra. So thank you. And if in this area again will be back.

A very idyllic location, with a very welcoming group of staff. A top tier Sunday roast with a choice between beef, chicken, lamb and pork or all four if you're feeling especially hungry with a wide selection of traditional elements to accompany your choice of meat, serve yourself a few roast potatoes, greens and the especially nice roast parsnips. A great Sunday roast.

Mediocre menu with food to match. Outdoor area tired and neglected with some lovely new furniture placed between the old and broken. On the upside service was very good.

Please stop hosting the Blackmore and Sparkford Hunt! What they are doing is illegal hunting and killing of foxes. The general public won't be happy when they know 4 of the hunt hounds were killed last month and a hunt protestor was viciously assaulted. Hunting is illegal, terriermen dig out the foxes to be chased by hounds which rip the fox to bits. Please, please, please don't associate with the B and S hunt, they will damage your business.

We were planning a visit but it appeares to have been taken over by the local hunting fraternity- the same people who trespassed on railway lines recently which resulted in 4 dogs dying. They openly hunt foxes and have allegedly attacked peaceful saboteurs

It has been a long time nothing really changes

I had the venison meatballs,rather dry could have done with more gravy/jus. Wasnt very hot, my partner had a curried monkfish tail with what can only be destroyed as cold sticky rice and some rather long green beans and tenderstem broccoli with very long stalks....
