Hiked a loop from abbotsbury and stopped here for lunch. As it was the off season, many places were closed. We were so glad to find that the manor was open. I had a local Dorset crab linguine and it was honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. The crab was flavorful and plentiful and the whole dish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My husband enjoyed his aubergine platter as well. Beautiful spot, great service, highly recommend!

The Manor West Bexington is a great location near Chesil beach. There is plenty of parking and the whole place has a charming country house atmosphere. The terrace sea view on a warm evening is magical. We prefer the larger rooms which we think are good value for money. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean. This was our second stay and on both visits the staff were welcoming and helpful. Millie the general manager does a great job and is keen to make sure guests are comfortable and happy. My wife and I are very impressed with her attention to detail. The food, evening meals and breakfast was really nicely cooked and excellent value for money. This was our second visit and we will definitely stay here again and on our next visit hope to stay for a much longer visit

Wanting to visit this area, this hotel was a great find. We met friends there for a two night stay. We had booked Sunday lunch in advance, which was very welcoming and delicious. We then asked if our rooms were free, as it was quite early but we’re told there was no problem and we’re promptly shown up to them. We were told there was fresh milk on the landing nearby, very acceptable. Our rooms were bright and welcoming and although a little jaded in places, seemed to match the ambience of the old house. Our sea view was stunning. We then met up with our friends for a much needed walk along nearby Chesil beach. In the evening, we all felt too full for more dinner, so we asked if we could just have a cheese platter in the bar, no problem. Although the bar closed at 9.30pm we were told we could take any drinks into the lounge, which we did. After a really good and quiet night’s sleep in the very comfy bed we went for breakfast. Again, this was delicious and served by such friendly staff. We booked into dinner that evening and weren’t disappointed as the food was brilliant yet again. Nothing seemed too much trouble from the staff of this hotel. Even when we reported a leak from the bottom of the toilet, which my husband found when he got out in the middle of the night!!! we were told a plumber had been called but they put towels as a temporary measure. These things happen and didn't spoil our stay. Hopefully we will all return again in the future but would recommend this hotel for a quiet and relaxing stay.

Went for a wedding- which was beautifully arranged by the bride. Left with a very bitter aftertaste since I left an expensive charger cable in the room- I called 3 times and left multiple messages and also emailed twice, heard nothing so either happy to have staff steal leftover items or the service is awful to not even bother calling or contacting me back. Both are poor outcomes either way.

Our experience was dinner which we enjoyed the first time to warrant a return visit two days later. We were staying close by not in the hotel. Luckily I had pre-booked as gets very busy especially Mondays. The service was excellent and Matt made us feel very welcome on both occasions. Good food, good atmosphere and a great view from the conservatory.

The Manor Hotel, West Bexington Beach, Dorset is Open to none residents and dog friendly. The hotel is on the hill overlooking the beach and if you sit outdoors the views of the Jurassic beach are spectacular. We had lunch of sandwiches, one thick ham, cheese and piccalilli, the other fish goujons and fries and really good value. Massive shout out to Frankie the manager, the company are very lucky to have her, very friendly and had driven from the Peak District, Derbyshire to cover duties for three days before driving back, now that’s commitment. This is a hidden gem, especially if you enjoy walking, absolutely gorgeous location and setting or simply breathe in the fresh air, and relax. Our third visit in three years and it’s worth the visit just for the drive and views, spectacular.

We recently had a delightful short break with our best friends. It was welcoming, and comfortable, with beautiful views, delicious food, friendly, helpful staff, and the whole atmosphere conducive to relaxation and allowing a recharging of the batteries. We arrived in thick fog and pouring rain which meant a quick change of our original plans. The management immediately arranged for us to take possession of our rooms four hours early, which to us was going the extra mile. Thank you so much to The Manor Hotel! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The weather improved dramatically and the whole stay was a great success!

Lovely position overlooking the sea, with very large, very quiet garden. Do NOT listen to SatNav to get there, follow the B3157 through Burton Bradstock. The staff were very friendly but understaffed, with only one person waiting at dinner on Thursday and breakfast on Friday morning, which went up to two on Friday/Saturday. Breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious, particularly the wide range at breakfast. If the weather is hot I suggest you take a lightweight duvet. Pillows are one very soft and one very hard one each. Ancient stone flagged staircase from the Cellar Bar, and across the ground floor, but I didn't see any sign of a lift, so not suitable for wheelchair access. Great position for visiting Abbotsbury/ Bridport/ Weymouth or the spectacular local beach which has a cafe. Brilliant to unwind in, the loudest noise at night was the sound of the surf.

Four of us just returned from three days walking part of the Jurassic Coast. Stayed at a wonderful small hotel; The Chesil Beach Manor House at West Bexington. It is located just 100-m or so off the national trail. The manager Steve, Lucas and the rest of the small team created a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Beds very comfortable and the rooms nice and quiet. Food menu different for a pub and excellent quality. So was the wine list, gins and whiskies. Recommend the South African Chenin Blanc together with the fish pie. The prices were below average. We should know as we have stayed in many the last 5 years walking the national trails. My only reservation is writing this review. Now you know. Perhaps I should have kept it a secret.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating, the room and whole hotel/restaurant was extremely clean and homely. My dinner and breakfast was delicious, well priced and great portion! This was our first visit and almost certainly our last. The building and grounds were very pleasant and well maintained. In the whole bar/restaurant we appeared to be the only customers. (lunchtime). The person in charge of the bar provided a service but nothing extra. We chose the vegan burgers which were not inexpensive. we were disappointed at the time it took for the food to arrive particularly given the lack of other customers. The meal was extremely disappointing. Given the venue and the price we expected something far far far better. The burgers were tasteless and neither of us worked out what the weird orange sauce was with the meal. . Anyway we wouldn't recommend you visit unless there are some real improvements to the food offering. Such a Shame as such a great location.

Ignore the negative comments - this is a super destination for lunch or dinner with incredibly well cooked food served in a friendly yet unobtrusive manner. The kitchen is only open 12-2 at lunchtimes, with a choice of light bites (soup & sandwich) or the full menu. The roast lamb was divine. Tender, flavoursome and served with vegetables cooked exactly right. My daughter said the local crab was delicious as was my hake. My son's burger was well balanced with toppings and suitably meaty. A good varied menu then with something for everyone. Then the desserts - what can I say other than they were as delicious as the mains and well presented. We were after a last minute weekend away after a cancelled operation and this hotel was all that was available! Well how lucky were we! The hotel has the most idyllic setting and waking up each morning lying in bed and being able to see the sea what more could you want. The rooms are clean and comfortable, hospitality tray, complimentary toiletries beautifully comfortable beds and crisp cotton sheets and fluffy towels. The bar and restaurant are nicely appointed and there is a conservatory to eat in too. The gardens wrap around the hotel and so you can always find a table in the sunshine. The food was exceptional. Proper home cooked meals and my husband had the fillet steak which he said was the best steak he’d had for a long time. Service was good, the waiting staff attentive and helpful. Considering the climate we are in right now, I would expect the hospitality industry to be doing all they can to retain customers. This place is completely the opposite. To start with, there is no sign to show you where Reception is and so you wander all the way around the premises before finding it back where you started. There was no welcome at all - equally when we left there was no 'we hope you enjoyed your stay.' We were here for a weekend break. The food was mediocre, and the same menu for both Friday and Saturday night was very disappointing. Looks like that menu has been in existence for well over a year too. Service was absolutely appalling - none of the staff paid any attention to anyone, and most were clearly overworked. We were advised to book a table for the evening meal, and then waited almost an hour for a menu to arrive. Even then the waitress showed no enthusiasm about serving us. Nobody was attentive - we had to ask for drinks and food each time we wanted any, rather than someone keeping an eye on each table and pre-empting that. Same at breakfast - apart from the young man who actually apologised for the delay that may ensue. He did his best to serve everyone. One of the staff said that they had been fully booked for the past 3 nights and it was very busy, and she did seem quite frazzled. They need to put more staff on that is quite evident. The 'grumpy man' referred to in other reviews is plainly identifiable behind the bar. I believe he is the owner - really not sure why he runs a hotel if he can barely bring himself to talk to the guests. He was curt in his responses and didn't offer any pleasantries or a welcoming smile even. When booking for dinner, and trying to organise times, his response was 'well what time do you want to eat then'.It is a shame because the location is fantastic - maybe there is a bit of complacency as they assume people will come and stay because of that . We heard other guests complaining about the time it took for someone to come out and serve them so that should not be the case. However the location is indeed really great, and the room was clean and had everything we needed.Service will definitely put people off though, as well as the surly man behind the bar. We will most certainly not be returning.

A warm welcome and festive surroundings - we had booked 4 weeks in advance asking to eat in the restaurant as we thought it would be busy being the weekend before Christmas. It was quiet, and we found ourselves almost 'billy no mates' with only one other couple in the restaurant. We were a party of four and it was nice to sit next to the fire. Two Sunday roasts, 1 beef and 1 pork, both excellent with generous portions of vegetables and delisious roast potatoes, fluffy and crispy! One of our party had the Manor Burger, which proved a hit, the other party member had roast pheasant breast, which by the state of the clean plate was evident that it was also enjoyed. The only down side to this meal was the fact tat the plates were cold, as much as the food was enjoyed, cold plates means food cool and my vegetables were not as hot as i would have liked. Not enough to make an issue of and assume that this is just a careless oversight. My Tiramisu was pleasant, a little more liqueur would have been nice, it came accross as a coffee trifle! Cheeseboard was very good. All in all our meal was most pleasant.

A relaxed Sunday made perfect by an exceptional veggie roast. The quality of the cooking, the beautiful location and dog friendly snug made for a memorable day out ( if not for the dogs!) . If you need convincing that Sunday doesn’t lunch have to mean meat, check this out.

This was the second time I had stayed at The Manor. Booking on their website is easy to navigate. I did have a phone call from the owner making sure I was still staying and letting me know what time their restaurant shut in case I needed food, as I was a couple of hours late arriving than I had put down on my booking information, which was a nice touch.

Lovely place to have a relaxing evening meal and try some of the local beverages! Dorset Gin and Cider certainly hit the spot! I was able to access the garden room eating area on my mobility scooter or my wheelchair with just one bump to get over the threshold!

Visited the Manor Hotel for lunch on a few occasions. Welcoming, friendly staff and superb food. Sunday lunch was the first occasion and we sat in the dining room with waiter service; excellent. On our next visit we sat in the Garden Room overlooking the sea. Once again the food and service was superb.

We booked in for a couple of days having stayed here previously some 20 years ago. The cellar bar doubled as reception and we were greeted efficiently with an explanation of dining/ breakfast options. Our room was what we expected from photos on their excellent website. The hotel was not busy and we opted to eat that evening in the garden room. Having had a big lunch, we only had a main course. The food was very good and my filet steak cooked to perfection. Although our dishes had a long journey from the kitchen down a very steep staircase, across the bar and up into the garden room, it was piping hot.The second evening, we dined in the bar for a bit of buzz and again our food was very good. This time, we struggled a dessert. My wife enjoyed the prune and ginger pudding and I had a generously apportioned cheese platter - good local cheeses too. Our room and bed were comfortable and clean - we slept well. The Wi-fi didn’t work most of the time but this was an old building with thick walls. A nice stay despite the weather - 20 years ago it rained incessantly too!

We were a table of six and as the sun was shining ate outside on the terrace with lovely views of Lyme bay. Staff were welcoming and service was prompt and very efficient. Two of our party had the smoked haddock risotto which was excellent and the remainder had the banquettes with various fillings of which the only downside preventing this establishment from a 5 star review was the offered hot pork baquettes were not hot, not even warm which was disappointing otherwise an excellent lunch in an enviable location!

Have to write this as we have enjoyed lunch here recently a couple of times. Beautiful location with sea views, easy parking, & food & service very much enjoyed. If you are fortunate with weather as we were sitting outside is the place to be.

Very nice roast potatoes and lovely gravy. Sat outside and enjoyed good food at fairly reasonable prices for such a pleasant venue.

We hadn't been to the Manor House for a great many years but decided to have dinner last week during our stay in Bridport. All three of us really enjoyed our food and chose to sit in the Bar area which is very rustic & cosy. The service was efficient & the food came quickly & piping hot. I had the fish pie which was really delicious a friend had a salad which she enjoyed & beautifully presented my husband had the steak & ale pie and although the pastry looked somewhat anemic he said it tasted very good (tip to chef - next time ensure the crust is nicely browned).

It was a very warm day at the start of the summer tourist season. We had arranged to meet friends at The Manor but on our arrival at 11am the place was closed. There were lots of people about, which seemed to me to be lost trade. I went to reception and asked if we could have a cup of tea or coffee in the garden, this was met with a blunt 'no' and that they didn't open until 11.30. I asked again if a simple cup of tea could not be made and again the answer was 'No' although qualified this time with the fact that the coffee machine was not up to temperature! Excuse me, this is a busy hotel, what do guests have? Never mind I said, we would go down the hill to the Club House which was opening and where we enjoyed coffee, bloody Mary's and glasses of champagne and ended up staying for lunch. £200 later I would say to the Manor, that, their lack of foresight was a bit of a silly mistake! Can any business really afford to turn away trade, do you really need a coffee machine to make a pot of Tea? Have you heard of a kettle! I am sure we would have progressed to drinks and lunch, as we enjoyed at the Club House, which I can highy recommend

Popped in for a drink and dessert. Sampled their sticky date and ginger pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla bean ice cream - scrumptious. Also, Apple and raspberry crumble etc - also delicious.

We stayed a short walk down the road in a chalet near the beach, so this was an ideal spot for us.

The location of The Manor is very special and we have been visiting for many years, both to use the restaurant, just the bar and also to stay in the rooms. We have always found the staff very friendly and the food excellent. It's a lovely menu and just as nice to stop just for coffee and cake. Beautiful views from the garden and some of the rooms. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Manor to anybody.

This is the first time I’ve been to this restaurant and we’ve been missing something good. Service was excellent and everything we ordered was beautifully presented. Most importantly, it all tasted lovely. A big hit and a wonderful birthday treat. We will be back.

We had a most enjoyable meal sat in the lovely garden basking in the sunshine and supping the local beer. Meals were great - on offer was a lite-bite lunch menu as well as a la carte. Hubby went for the huge beefburger and a pint of Otter Ale and I enjoyed Chicken Ballantine, which was served with a tasty mushroom sauce. Food and service excellent.

Lovely pub with nice beers and food and friendly locals and bar staff. Only problem no real bar area, for popping in for just a drink. We sat at the bar.
