Brilliant food, nothing like it in the area, very welcoming customer service. Great overall satisfaction 👍 would highly recommend.

The proprietor kept it open for us to enjoy tea and coffee- which ere excellent- in a Covid-safe manner, and provided outstanding home cooked scones as well

Dropped in for a coffee over the Christmas period. Nice and warm, cosy with friendly staff, good coffee and range of cakes and lunches. Warm, clean toilets, will be back.

When the Saturday Pannier market is open Shaun will normally be there serving great food, and selling his spices, and sauces We both had the Chicken shawarma, and it was great- plenty of met, great range of veggie, in a massive wrap Great value for money, and really tasty

We decided to give the Green Lantern a try, after not visiting for a very long time. Disappointed to say that it felt unusual to have a cafe serve coffee from a vending type machine that you might find in an old petrol station. Was insipid. We ordered a baguette and a toasted sandwich. The bacon was rubbery, think it may have been cooked earlier and warmed up, and it wasn’t very toasted! Such a shame, but we wouldn’t visit again.

We experienced the Christmas Meal which was cooked well and presented with some style. The Glazed Salmon was particularly tasty. For us, the choice of wine is very limited, however, this is a country pub whose customers preferred taste is good beer. Service at The Union is warm and welcoming. A great place to eat if you have a healthy appetite!

We booked Sunday lunch for three of us with a view to watching the Football afterwards. First visit to this pub and all I can say is WOW. The roast dinner was very good and plenty of it too. The Dessert my partners Son had was also very good. We then went to the bar area to watch the Football and they reserved a table for us which was very much appreciated. Very friendly atmosphere with some good banter. Overall a fantastic afternoon.

I recently revisited Taffs Fish and Chips after being put off by their tiny portions five years ago, and unfortunately, not much has changed. The fish still tastes great, and the batter is crispy and light, but the portion size remains disappointingly small. The cod portion was as small as I remember, and the chips weren’t much better—just a bit too few for the price you pay. While the quality of the food is good, the value for money just isn't there. It’s a shame because I really wanted to enjoy it, but I left feeling like I needed more to satisfy my hunger. For a better experience in terms of both taste and generous portions, I’ll be sticking to Mr Chips in Bideford, which offers great value alongside their consistently tasty meals. Sadly, Taffs didn’t live up to expectations this time around, and I don’t think I’ll be back.

We have visited The Puffing Billy on a few occasions and love the food and the ambience, no complaints from us! I just wanted to make an extra special mention to the staff after our visit on Thursday. My hubby and I stopped in for one of their lovely breakfasts and while we were waiting my hubby passed out, completely out of the blue. I admit I panicked but the staff were excellent, they phoned the ambulance and were very kind and kept checking on us. In the end he didn’t need to go to hospital as it turns out it was just a faint after having a small procedure, after allowing us to sit as long as we needed I was able to take him home. I just wanted to say thank you so much for your kindness and help.
