Absolutely yummy! Stopped here on my work break after being recommended by a friend and me and my crewmate both fell in love!

We absolutely love Sandfords Bakery we drive three hours for all their beautiful homemade selection 😋 absolutely stunning every time the staff are super friendly and helpful highly recommended

Incredible bakery! Probably a good thing we don't live in Torrington as I'd be in there daily. The variety of choice in cakes is just unreal. Always go in for just a couple of things and come out with double or triple the amount. Best sausage rolls around and the pizza slices are amazing! As a family we often will take a trip to Torrington just to go to Sandford's! 🙌🏽

I love everything about sandfords bakery except the staff member who serve me, she was quite rude i didn't expect it

i cannot put into words what there pastys are like all of them are simply perfect the taste is perfection in a bag the pastry and filling so light but filling and with all the right seasoning .i have tried all pastys from all over the uk but these are the winners by far . there chocolate caramel shortcake is beautiful and the fruitcake . cant wait to come back .please keep these wonderful recipees there so perfect . thank you and please stay for many many more years and keep your wonderful lovely staff there a delight to see and speak to with all our old values in life . Any one visiting torrington make sure you go to this bakery .

We have been coming to Torrington on holiday for the last three years and found this gem of a bakery. We have been to many but Sandfords is just amazing. We go in to buy a few pastries and savourys but leave with at least two carrier bags full. I was always a Greggs sausage roll girl but Sandfords ones are the best ever, and theie Bread is just gorgeous. Please open one in Somerset.

this has been one of my favourite places to go since i was a kid, do possibly the best pasties i’ve ever had, the staff are always very friendly and overall it just has a lovely atmosphere 10/10 :)

Had been recommended here this holiday, and, OMG, like kids .. it was "one of those, please, and one of those .. ". You get the idea. And the prices don't match the rest of Britain. Oh, amazing friendly service, too .. thank you for another treat this trip ..

We were unexpectedly in Great Torrington for lunch on a rainy Tuesday in early September. We happened on this bakery so picked up a curry pasty, bacon and cheese slice, Viennese finger and a raspberry and white chocolate muffin. It was all very tasty so we'd happily call in here again if we're in the area.

When in Great Torrington we always all here for a sausage roll and coffee and sit on a bench overlooking the river to enjoy it. The pastries and cakes are absolutely delicious, staff very friendly, and sometimes the previous days cakes are sold off cheaply, but are still as good as if they were made the same day

Superb and outstanding bakery. Extremely friendly staff. The goods look as good as they taste. Ordered a chicken salad sandwich, cheese and pickle sandwich. Both were superb in flavour and bread was fresh and tasty. Chelsea bun was moist and very tasty. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend a visit, especially if you are going to RHS Rosemoor.

Got some bread for my breakfast whilst on holiday lovely with eggs provided and my holiday let and bacon from the butcher over the road.

Nice bakery overall good selection of cakes and pasties. Young girl who served no customer service skills (perhaps this should be taught) got overcharged didn't realise until left shop, even then she had to use calculator to add up simple order. Cakes purchased were nice.

See when I tuck into a nice curry pasties with da boizzz, I like to have a side off "homie sauce" (also known as mayonaise to the non-belivers). Anyway i tried a sample and it was very sub par compared to my homslizzles so im leaving this review to infrom that stanfords bakery homie sauce is not that good, would reccomend bringing some of your own x

Oh the pasties! Don't get me started on the pasties as they were wonderful!!!! I bought myself a Cornish Pastie and I absolutely fell in love with the taste of the thing! The pastie was filled to the brim! Everything inside was gorgeous and I washed it down with a lovely, and i mean lovely pint from the Black Horse just round the corner. Me and the boys tucked right in! I bought about 5 pasties where I had 2 of them and gave the rest to the boys. But the next day it appears I got some sort of stomach problem not quite sure of why I got such a dreadful stomach ache. It was like water coming out of a hose! Quite awful!!!! But I do recommend good ol' Sandfords Bakery!

I bought a whole pizza for me and my son jimmy jr it looked amazing and after the first bite the grease dribbled right down my chins onto my lovely white top i was horrified. However i went back and bought 7 lovely curry pasties i saved a few for the boys but i did tuc into 5 on them lol

What a find! We were in Great Torrington and wanted a quick snack and decided to call here. We had a large sausage roll each, with the flakiest of pastry, followed by a cake that must have been left over from the day before and was only 50p but still fine, and most delicious, followed by a cup of coffee. We sat on a nearby bench, and definitely know where to eat next time we are in Great Torrington. How did we miss this in all the years we have been visiting?

Whenever in Torrington have to call in and have one of their amazing Devon pasties. In fact just yesterday the hubby called in and ordered a batch of 10 to pick up at the end of the day. They were all packed in a box for him ready for the long journey home ( I must add he did not eat all in one go - he has managed to put some in the freezer to last him until the next time we are in Torrington) it is such a delightful bakery full of amazing treats.

Good variety of bread ,sausage rolls ,sandwiches,cakes and lush pizza !This is a bakery where you can buy snacks and drinks as well as a large variety of typical items you would expect.We often get a hot slice of pizza and a tin of fizz and sit on the seats overlooking Taddiport from the carpark.

I wanted a pasty. On the sign outside it said "Devon pasties". I thought "That will be a challenge!" And it was!As every discerning eater knows, the best pasties come from Cornwall, obviously. I was then doubly horrified. Firstly I was offered a choice between beef & potato or beef & mixed veg. When I finally die & go to the restaurant in the sky, I expect my pasties to be made from swede, onion and a judicious amount of potato: "mixed veg"!? ..... nah. That's an abomination that should be illegal. It was at the next point that I was almost pushed to calling at least one of the emergency services to deal with the situation. I was (helpfully) told that the meat wasn't in small chunks but was ..... gulp ..... mince!!! I ask you! Any sensible Cornishman would have left the premises there and then. But I knew I'd want something to eat when I got home to civilisation, so one was reluctantly purchased.And I am so pleased I did! A delicious short pastry with just the right crumbliness. The filling was tasty, generous and with the right amount of moistness - peas, carrots, onion etc. One of the best pasties I've eaten for some time (apart from Over the Top in the nearby town of Callington). It might be a bit far for me to drive the over 40 miles to get here but I'd consider it..... Ansum!I have been here before for a cuppa & a cake but a couple of years ago at least. We popped in to get supplies for a hike from great Torrington. Great filled rolls and highly recommend the cinnamon buns! Great value and lovely staff

Can not fault this place! It’s a must visit, best bread in North Devon! Delicious savouries and fun, yummy cakes. Highly recommended.

Sandford pasties are the best I've ever tasted, especially the chicken curry one. Now I am vegan it's great to know they cater for this. The vegan curry pasty is so tasty and they alway have a cheeky vegan cake or biscuit to pair this up with. My children will opt for a Sandfords over McDonalds any day.

Have not found anywhere around Bideford and Barnstaple that can match flavour and quality at sensible price. I drive 8 miles to get bread here. Pasties are great too, only eat them immediately as they do not travel well hot.

Excellent food all prepared and cooked fresh, staff were very helpful. Highly recommended. Fresh pizza cold or hot is very nice and the carrot cake is also lovely.

Although this is not a restaurant or cafe, this is a must visit if you are in the area. The food, bread and cakes are all home cooked. The variety is huge and as it is so popular an early visit is recommended so that you dont miss out. Parking nearby and is right in the centre of town

Has to be the best bakery locally. Delicious pizza there cakes are a must try returning costumers whenever we visit very reasonable priced for good portions and everything is fresh.

Love the bread fresh made and sliced if required. Tasty treats for the family, cakes, buns etc they also do savouries. All served by pleasant staff.

Exactly what you want from a good, old-fashioned, down-to-earth bakery. Good bread and cakes at sensible prices. What's not to like!

Sandford's bake great bread and pasties on the premises. Their sliced pizza is also very popular. You can get coffee and soft drinks but there is nowhere to sit and eat.

Absolutly top class.. The pasties are out of this world as well are the Homemade scotch eggs! So impressed and you must visit here!

The best granary bread sandwich I've ever tasted! I popped in and asked if they could make me a cheese and ham pickle on granary bread and it was no trouble at all. The sandwich was great and the bread is lush!!Definitely the best sandwich I've had in North Devon

Always excellent fresh food and polite staff every time we go. Our first choice to go to for lunch in the holidays. We recommend the scotch eggs

The bread is amazing forget the diet because the bread and pastrys are too good not to eat . The granary loaf is one of the best I have ever tasted. Lots of lovely home made pies and pastries

Just what a bakers should be. Made on site, high quality and excellent service. Some different cakes to other places and Lardy cake baked on saturdays. perfect

This is a superb traditional bakers and I say that as someone who doesn't eat bread. How often these days do you see people queuing outside shops? At Sandford's it is pretty much every day and people don't mind doing it because the choice and the quality is worth waiting for. You can get everything from pasties, to pizza to bread, of course, and they even have one of those quirky machines that slice the loaf if that's what you want. So what was I doing there? Catering for a VE Day event and in need of something old-fashioned, traditional. sticky and way too many calories - so obviously I thought of Sandford's - and they absolutely had it. Not sure whether it was a Chelsea Bun but in that line and they had the twenty-odd that I needed. Perhaps oddly my Devonian friends wolfed them down with clotted cream but they were rated five-star. Keep up the excellent work.

Always buy bread here when I can - many varieties of bread. Fabulous hot takeaway for meat eaters & vegetarians, generous portions, although fairly expensive. Great selection of cakes, pastries, donuts, biscuits, & whole cakes to buy, good service. Although fairly expensive, cake slices are so large they serve 2 really, so bear that in mind!

This is our second bakery in Torrington and is great for fresh bread and rolls. They serve hot takeout food along with filled rolls and sandwiches. If you want a cake for that sweet tooth then you will have a lot to choose from along with some very yummy pastry's. Pop in and have a look at all the scrummy bits to drool over.

We came upon Sandford's whilst walking through the town of Torrington, and what a fantastic find. Bread, cakes and savouries all looked delicious and all turned out to be as good as they looked. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely call in again if back in the area.

Superb bread and delicious cakes. The Eccles cakes are the best I have had. The window is attractively and temptingly laid out.We always call in when we are staying in the area.

always worth a visit, normally purchase our Devon pasties here for taking home to Essex, quick meal when we get home without fuss

You must try the carrot cake in this shop... its just the best. Fresh bread gladly sliced to what thickness you want..

We live locally and always get our bread and rolls here the quality is excellent flaky pastry pasty an the pizza is a favourite alongside all the yummy cakes nothing around touches it

We moved from the area in 2000 and when we are in North Devon we always make a detour to Sandfords to get some delicious bread and buns. The granary loaf and iced bun ring are favourites. Staff are always pleasant and cheerful. Just wish I could have a delivery to my door once a fortnight, because that would be ideal.

This has to be the best place to buy a pasty in North Devon. Visiting several times whilst living in the area and I have to say the quality of food was excellent. Friendly and helpful staff. Very reasonably priced and they could easily charge more. They do a lovely cooked breakfast as well. Recommend a visit if you are in the area or passing through!

The bread and rolls are beautiful..and cakes just a big temptation. A bakery that takes one back to childhood.

Out of the 2 bakeries we tried in Great Torrington this was by far the best. Spoilt for choice, all fresh, fairly priced and friendly helpful service. We were those annoying dithering customers who had time to ponder and change their minds ;-)

Very good bakery always busy only thing it is missing is a good range of Sour Dough Bread. Delicious if there done right.

When in Torrington you must visit Sandford's Bakery. There is a huge variety of cakes and pastries all made on the premises. They always have great themed cakes etc for Halloween, Christmas and Easter. A must see. A firm favourite for me is the delicious traditional pasty. All the staff are so helpful and friendly. Will definitely be stopping by on my next visit to Torrington.

Sanford bakery has a fantastic range of tasty treats. It is not a coincidence that when I have a get together with friends I get delegated to get the pudding. We love the variety and as the portion sizes are generous you can choose several things and all get a piece of each to try. The chocolate brownie is a firm favourite with both my sons, the peanut butter cookie happens to be my favourite and my daughter always chooses a gingerbread man when she visits with Granny . Do not forget the Savoy items as well, as vegetarians we love the cheese and onion pasty.

When my partner and I visit Torrington we always go to the village square and buy something fromthis lovely bakery. We sometimes get a hot chocolate or latte from here to take away as well as an apple danish, sausage roll, cream meringue or gingerbread man. We especially like visiting here during the Christmas holidays as you get to smell the delicious food being baked as you pass and it creates a warm, lovely festive feel.
