We visited here today after booking with them through Facebook. It’s the first time we’ve been in the area. Was a really super cute little cafe, the man serving was really friendly and so accommodating with anything we wanted (which wasn’t a lot really just some sauce lol) and we ordered a fry up each. Bacon was amazing, not fatty at all, fried eggs were good, hash browns were great, beans and tomatoes all good! The sausage patties weren’t my favourite but this isn’t because they weren’t nice - it was just because I love a sausage that’s normal not squashed! Ample amount of tea and really clean and cute cutlery. The only thing I would say (and I don’t know if it’s because they were fully booked because they were quite busy) is that I did mention that the booking was for my friends birthday and could we have a cute seat so I would have liked us to have been outside in the garden area where it looked a bit cuter and more of an experience BUT like I say I don’t know who booked and when so they may not have been able to accommodate..

We visited Great Torrington as part of our week in North Devon. Looking for somewhere for lunch we were recommended to go to No 37Bistro. The owner went out of his way to accommodate us , 4 adults and a dog. There was an excellent choice with various vegetarian options . Their curried parsnip soup with a cheese scone was delicious as was the stilton and mushroom quiche came with salad too. The baguette came with a choice of crisps or chips a salad included. The ham ,egg and chips was enormous with lovely home cooked type ham .Their range of cakes were very tempting and looked delicious but were too full to be tempted . The owner and his wife were extremely helpful and friendly. The prices were extremely reasonable too. We wish them well, also wished we didn't live so far away so we could visit again.

Our party of 4 stopped off for lunch at No 37 on Saturday, on our way back to London. No 37 doesn't pretend to be a Michelin-starred haute cuisine restaurant -- rather, it is a quintessentially charming local caff/restaurant, offering wholesome, well-prepared and fairly-priced meals, served with warmth and friendliness. The husband and wife team are as friendly as can be. We loved it, and would certainly return if we found ourselves in the area again! This little local eatery definitely deserves to succeed.

I visited number 37 on a wet and miserable day in Torrington and was immediately struck by the warm friendly vibe on entering the premises this was in spite of the fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic with the rules for social distancing and mask wearing foremost in everyone's mind. The service was excellent the homemade soup was absolutely delicious the cheesy bread cob was an excellent addition to the soup and I was not surprised to learn later that they are baked on the premises every day.I had time to kill so was able to witness a turnover of the tables with different customers coming and going the excellent attention to detail in sanitising each table was most reassuring. The new owners are to be congratulated other very high standards they are achieving.Michael

We were a party of four who dropped in late afternoon on the off chance of a table. The staff were funny, helpful and accommodating.......the home made cake was delicious and the portions were huge and all washed down with first class beverages. I consider myself to be a fussy coffee drinker and we all had different things but everyone was equally complimentary. The irony is none of us had been to no 37 before even though we only live in Torrington and Bideford, our first visit but definitely not our last. This local business really deserves to flourish and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this venue ( unless you are on a diet.... but life’s too short)

This is a welcoming little cafe and my scone was excellent. The coffee offered on the menu was described as two shots with milk. So I expected a flat white or a latte. However what came was a large mug of black coffee with an offer to add milk. When I asked if this was the two shots version I was assured that it was. It was a nice enough "long" coffee but not what I expected.Overall though a very pleasant visit and I would like to try more of the great looking food on a future occasion.

Since taking over from Jenny, Jamie and Clair have gradually introduced their own style and personality to this great deli café restaurant. There is a good choice of hot food and a good choice of cold (Ploughman's/quiche/salads). Teas and coffees to choose from and a variety of cold drinks. Service is always with a smile and an inclusive chat if you wish. I originally thought (when I first visited 7 or 8 years ago) it was a pity there were only three tables and it was crowded with 8 or so people seated but that is a part of the charm; so cosy and friendly.

We had the most dreadful experience in this cafe on Thursday 11 April 2019, when my disabled wife was told by the proprietor that she couldn't sit in the restaurant area with comfortable chairs and proper tables, because of her Guide Dog! She could only sit in the dog friendly area that only had bar stools. We quickly explained that it is unlawful under Equality legislation to treat someone with disabilities less favourably because of their disability, or because they have a Guide or assistance Dog with them. But sadly, it quickly became obvious that my wife was not going to be treated with the respect and dignity she deserves, and the atmosphere was no longer conducive to enjoying a meal, so we left. He has since spoken with the Guide Dogs for the Blind Engagement Officer, and been informed of what he should have done, but no apology to my wife was ever forthcoming, which would have cost him nothing! I just want my wife to be treated like a human being! Each (illegal) “you can't sit here, sit over there” is a crushing, confidence shattering rejection.

We came across Brown's by chance - it is over the road from the main public car park in Torrington - and were glad that we did. It is delightful. The couple who have owned and run the place for 23 years were chatty and welcoming and the plentiful homemade food was delicious - quiches, pies, soups, salads, sandwiches etc, along with some more substantial plates... and excellent puddings! The semifreddo was a highlight. The deli was well-stocked, too. Be aware that there are only three tables and at busy times it might be pot-luck if you can get one. It is definitely worth the effort though - we would all happily go back. Open Tuesday to Saturday.

This deli and cafe is packed full of goodies and home-produced fare. The small seating area is perfect for a quiet meal, and the service couldn't have been better despite our unusual food intolerances. It's this sort of individual care and attention to detail that sets owner-run cafes apart from high street chains. One to visit.

Stopped off here for a bite to eat after visiting Dartington Crystal. We were lured in by the inviting window display and the promise of fresh locally sourced and homemade produce. The children had ham egg and chips, and were offered a smaller portion which was still very generous. My husband and I had cheese ploughmans, and were provided with a tantalising selection of local cheeses recommended by the owner. The pickles and chutney were so scrummy, we bought some from the deli counter on our way out. A real foodie find

Great little deli with a few tables in the back. The food is always simple but lovely, as are the cakes. The owners are also lovely. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely cafe in the North Devon market town of Torrington. Excellent polite and friendly service and gorgeous food - including tasty homity pie and the best toasted teacake in the world - the size of a dinner plate!

We stayed on holiday in the area last week and lunched here twice. My husband had the ploughmans each time and I had the quiche then the courgette, cream cheese and cashew slice. Everything was delicious but the salad was exceptional. Wish we lived closer so could visit on a regular basis!! The staff were extremely friendly too.

Lovely surroundings with efficient and friendly staff. Food was delicious and well cooked although portion of calamari starter was a little small in comparison to 3 large ravioli. Love to have lingered longer but had a bus to catch which we only just managed! Will definitely return when we’re in the area again. Good value for money considering the food and service quality.

We visited for afternoon tea - booked as a gift for our wedding anniversary. Every single piece of the afternoon tea was delicious - and we were so full we had to take some home! Thank you for a lovely experience.
