Wonderful Village pub and restaurant

We came to stay in Parkham as an extended family. We knew we wanted a meal there, but ended up visiting three times. What a wonderful pub! The staff were friendly and helpful and VERY accommodating. If we lived here we would be in each week! Lovely, lovely, lovely and really deserves 6 stars.

Dear Rachel and Michael, Sally and I enjoyed the Bell Inn again. We are back every year to visit the grave of Sallys parents, and every year we are pleased with the warmth, hospitality and good food in a well known environment. We are looking forward to next year. We rented a holiday let 20 yards away. We opted to eat out first night there. The landlady and her gals were welcoming, friendly and amiable - and gave Bella the dog a treat too (never to be left out). The food was FANTASTIC and the portions were, to say the least HUGE. It was delicious with such good choices too. We were made to feel at home with the locals and there was a great atmosphere at every visit. What a SMASHING holiday….. THANK YOU

Superb Sunday lunch with fabulous beef and giant crisp yorkshire puds, excellent service and overall very good value for money. Definitely book though or you'll be disappointed on a Sunday lunch as the pub was full. Loved our weekend in North Devon.....this pub is already earmarked for our return.

Amazing lunch here today! All 3 courses were delicious, hot and cooked to perfection! Staff were friendly and welcoming. Lovely cosy relaxed feeling and was surprisingly busy as it’s part of a small village. Our food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Wish we had found it at the beginning of our holiday, but we know for next time! Wholly recommend. A lovely experience before heading back home, thank you very much. 😊

The food is 5 star. Everything I tried on the menu was excellent, especially the skate. The rooms were new, clean and lovely and Rachel and Mike were fantastic hosts. I would highly recommend and would stay there again.

Lovely Inn, newly refurbished to a high standard. Food fantastic, cracker breakfasts and evening meals, especially recommend the skate, but all meals were excellent. Rachel and Mike friendly, helpful and kind owners. Will be staying again when in the area.

Best to pre book a table,no problem with dogs in the bar

Rating primarily for food as we just had a takeaway but the atmosphere inside seemed absolutely lovely. The food was delicious - tasty vegan curry, lovely fish, chips and scampi and the chips themselves are divine, crunchy and fluffy and delicious. Service was excellent - we'd only just travelled down to the area for asked for some little sachets of salt and vinegar. They didn't have any but they did provide some little tubs of sea salt and of malt vinegar. And they offered to take our insulated bag and put all of our food in it for us. Lovely staff, lovely pub, worth your custom.

Went for a Sunday lunch as a party of eight and staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was lovely, and very reasonably priced. Dog friendly which is a bonus too. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Delicious Sunday toast. Generous portions lovely meat options. Great value for money too. The waitress made us feel at home and even bought us some scraps to keep our dog entertained. There aren’t many English pubs like this left anymore. A real gem.

Found this place by chance whilst on a weekend break with friends. So glad we did - absolutely amazing food (reasonably priced), good selection of ales too. If you like chocolate fully recommend the chocolate brownie (don't bother counting calories though). Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

We entered the pub as a family with 2 dogs one of the dogs barked a couple of times while other dogs were walking past (which is normal for most dogs) the landlord Micheal came walking towards us very aggressively while hitting his tea towel against his hand and said “ if you can’t control your dog you have to get out “ while shouting in front of all the pub patronising us and was very threatening , while over dogs were barking flys all over the place landing all over the food .we can see they take good care of locals and not holiday makers avoid if possible not worth the money to be treated like this

What a gem of a pub in a lovely village. The food was delicious, the staff were so friendly and attentive, and the general atmosphere was so welcoming. We visited while on holiday with our two Golden Retrievers, and we're so impressed that we visited a second time during our stay. We would highly recommend this beautiful pub.

The Bell Inn ever disappoints. Friendless staff, great food and ale. Great village hub and atmosphere.

Ate there last night, and whilst the food wasn’t bad, it was not great either. Garlic mushroom starter - cheap button mushrooms in a quite nice sauce. Crab cakes starter - very nice, but served with cheap slice bread. Burger - was OK. Seemed like it had very little caramelisation and was grey all the way through. Chips were great. Pork belly - meat was delicious. Cracking had been pre cooked and was still fridge/freezer cold in the middle. Yuck. Side veg was very bland and in a cheese sauce that tasted of margerine. Decided not to have a pudding based on the other two courses. Staff were friendly though.

Lovely pub with a great menu. Friendly locals and a nice buzz. Fantastic selection of beers and only problem on this visit is I'm driving so have to limit myself to an excellent pint of Utopia

Absolute gem of a place. Just recently went there as a party of ten and everyone enjoyed themselves and loved the food. Super chef and very capable staff - would highly recommend to anyone. I used to visit the place many years ago and it was good then but, since the refurb and a few years on, it’s now on a different level. Superb

We decided to visit for Sunday lunch after reading the great reviews of this pub. The staff were lovely accommodating us for Sunday lunch as we didn't have a reservation .the food was excellent .we'll worth a visit .

We went here today for lunch for the 1st time as this is going to be our local bar. The food & service was excellent. The standard of food was very good and the staff and owner took the time to come and chat to us and made us feel very welcome. We also took our chocolate Labrador Buttons with us who was also given a great welcome and of course some doggy treats. Will definitely be back. Thanks to everyone for a lovey lunch.

Very lovely country pub, we arrived on Easter Sunday as was greeted with very friendly faces! Food was ordered and the portions plentiful, it is a shame they didn’t have a kids menu but the little one wasn’t too fussed! Desserts were very tasty and very affordable. Would highly recommend anyone passing to visit this pub! 10/10 for us

This place is perfect for food lovers who don't want run of the mill pub food. A lot of thought and care has gone into their extensive menu. I had the Steak & Ale Pie and my soulmate ordered the Sirloin Steak - medium rare. The Steak & Ale Pie was beautifully made and served. The thyme and mustard pastry was perfect - filling but not heavy. The meat simply melted in my mouth and the sauce was rich and tasty. The new potatoes were delicious and the accompanying veggies perfectly al dente. The Sirloin Steak was splendid. It was served medium rare as requested. Lovely chips and onion rings. The mushroom and tomatoes were also delicious. My pudding was Bramley apple, blackberry and almond crumble with ice cream. Superb! My soulmate's pudding was Sticky Toffee, date and apple cake with ice cream. Delicious. (And the ice cream is out of this world!) The food is well worth the wait as it is all made from scratch and cooked properly. Lovely, unhurried atmosphere. Staff very polite and friendly. Toilets very clean.

We booked for Sunday Lunch last weekend and it was superb! We had the most delicious meal. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food was fantastic. Great roast beef with a slection of nine veg, the best Yorkshire puddings and gravy. All perfectly home cooked and served with a smile. We even had a thank you in Welsh from the lovely bartender as we left! All of this and dog friendly too. We would highly recommend….

Mushroom risotto disappointed. Where was the rice,? Totally overcooked to a sauce.

A really wonderful proper country pub. Fitted us in on the day for my daughter and I with our two dogs. Warmly welcomed, really good Guinness and perfect food. Not often I’m full but had to be rolled out at the end of the night!!!! Would highly recommend and will 100% be back. Thank you so much.

Always a warm welcome and great food!

We are an adult family of four who rented a lovely cottage nearby over Christmas and followed the previous occupiers advice to book a table well in advance and so pleased we did! Extremely busy village pub and understandably so, a beautiful thatched building with friendly staff and regulars. We sat next to the log burner and enjoyed the warmth on a chilly night, even our dog didn’t want to leave at the end of the evening. Well stocked bar, great bitter! Unpretentious, wholesome and well cooked food with generous portions from a varied menu of locally sourced produce. All reasonably priced and delivered by helpful and friendly staff. Very strongly recommended.

The staff were friendly and polite. The food took a long time to come and I was disappointed with the crispy battered cod and chips. The chips were tasteless and the cod was also tasteless.

This inn is probably better known for the bar - it was quite well stocked- rather than the food I would think. Had an average cod and chips. Someone in the party had the burger, again ok. Overall an acceptable meal, nothing great.

The best Christmas meal I have had in a while. Great atmosphere and attentive friendly staff. If I lived locally I would be in there all the time!

A great selection of vegan food, really lovely land lady and good service... The food was divine, the meat options made my mum really full and content with her choice, so I'm extremely happy. Will come again.. Thankyou. Maybe another addition to the vegan pudding options would be nice.

Our second visit and just as good as the first. A warm welcome awaits in this lovely country pub, superb food, cooked to order, piping hot, such generous portions and every bite was delicious. Great customer service too. Recommend booking as very busy even on a wet and windy day

We were a family of 5 arriving late on a busy Monday night and the pub was struggling to cope with a large take out order received at the same time, so the speed of service suffered. But the food arrived and was plentiful and excellent. The best home cooked steak pie I have ever eaten!! Atmosphere was pleasant and I would thoroughly recommend the pub!!

excellent pub in the village of Parkham. Nightmare to get to down some dubious country roads (expect zombie cows) but worth a visit. Missus had her usual fish & chips and I had the steak in ale pie both were excellent and plenty of it served on hot plates. The only drawback was we were seated near the door and it was blowing a gale and lashing down so we were regularly chilled so could've done with the log fires being lit.Apart from that it was a solid evening.

What a find! Just had a delicious Sunday roast served by fabulous staff. Felt very much at home from the moment we arrived (a real sense of community in the pub) and certainly the best Sunday roast around. Thank you Rachel and team! We’ll be back …

Our first visit since moving locally and it was a fantastic experience. We were warmly greeted on arrival and looked after throughout by a lovely lady and met Rachel the owner who took the time to chat to us and made us feel really welcome. A really varied menu including interesting vegetarian options which made our visiting son happy, all of the food was delicious, served piping hot and with generous portions, thankfully we just about had room for desserts, hardest bit was knowing which to choose! What a great find so close to home, see you all again soon

A Great country pub, with quality food and a great wine selection.

During a recent holiday to North Devon we stayed in Parkham just down the road from this gem. The food was amazing and they went out of their way to accommodate us on a busy Sunday and it was one of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had 😋. The only slight downside was that our son who is autistic didn't eat anything due to choices available on the Sunday but their staff were amazing and we even got to take his away with us. Due to an amazing Sunday lunch and service we booked in again midweek and the selection of food for all seven of us was great and once again the food was delicious and value for money.

We were in Bideford for a week with friends. We ate at this lovely little friendly pub three times. Two evening meal times and a Sunday lunch. The food was very good indeed. The staff were blooming fabulous. We were staying in a holiday let opposite the pub... So very convenient!

Found this pub by chance while looking for somewhere to escape the midday heat with the dog and have a bite to eat. What a lucky find !! Such a friendly, welcoming place not just for doggies but their 'hoomans'too. The food was delicious, so tasty and the portions were great, some of the best pub food we had had in a while. You may have to set your sat nav to find it but it is definitely worth the effort, you won't be disappointed...we weren't and will definitely return.

On holiday and no more than 80 mtrs from The Bell Inn, so 7 of my family rocked up for Sunday lunch. Staff were very accommodating and friendly, the food was cooked superbly and tasted delicious. It’s very easy to mess up a Sunday roast and I’ve had some bad ones. However, this definitely wasn’t messed up. The best we’ve ever had and great value for money. You will not be disappointed if you give it a visit. You have been told!

Can’t rate this pub highly enough, fitted us in at short notice for a table of 4 and our dog, friendly welcoming staff. Food was absolutely first class and we enjoyed our meal very much! Tom’s Rhubarb crumble is to die for!

This is a gem of pub. Visited on our way back from the Milky Way and were greeted with an excellent welcome. Menu is excellent and great value too. The food however, is even better! We'll be back when visiting North Devon again

Nice pub, nice staff, nice ambience. Inedible onion rings... So greasy. Didn't bother with the chips after a couple , not worth eating. Very expensive steak was overcooked, underseasoned and dry. Didn't stay for pudding. Went to get a star bar on the way home...

Lovely, friendly, traditional village pub with good quality homemade food. Homemade veggie choices as well as fish dishes in addition to meat based choices . Proper puddings if you can fit one in! Nice choice of beers. Very popular so best to book.

Great country pub with friendly staff. 5 of us had a meal here (4 adults and 1 baby) - everyones meals were delicious and arrived hot at our table (personally, I can recommend the Steak & Ale pie and the Vanilla Creme Brulee - they were great! Others in our group ordered the Lasagne amd the Cajun chicken - positive comments from everyone about our respective meals). Not cheap (but where is nowadays?!), but I definitely felt we got what we paid for......just wished I lived closer to visit more frequently! Definitely recommended if you're local or visiting the area.

WE popped in here on our first evening staying in Parkham. The staff were very friendly and the dog was made very welcome. Nice pub food with lovely fresh salad. Well worth a visit if you're in the vicinity.

First time visit. Won’t be the last. Service was excellent and very welcoming. Food was delicious. We had a Sunday roast with family for my sons 18th birthday. Really love that the meat is brought to the table plates and then you have a selection...

We stayed over and had a great supper here. Leaving the comfortable accommodation to one side and focusing on just supper we had a great selection with separate blackboard menus for meat fish and also vegetarian/vegan. We shared the crab cakes, and then had beef...

What a pub!!! Everything in this pub is perfect - the food, the patrons, the staff, the surroundings. We were made to feel so welcome on our holiday that this pub goes a long as to why we have booked to return to the village...

We have stayed for the week in packham. The local pub is simply fabulous. It is a lovely country pub with friendly staff. The landlady Rachel is wonderful. We had Sunday lunch & an evening meal here during our stay. All meals were simply divine....

On holiday staying at Putford near Bideford - Monday lunchtime and wanted a pub to meet up with friends who live over the border in Cornwall. Did try others closer to holiday accommodation but they were closed on Mondays. Glad they were as the service...
