We visited for afternoon tea - booked as a gift for our wedding anniversary. Every single piece of the afternoon tea was delicious - and we were so full we had to take some home! Thank you for a lovely experience.

Lovely farmstead tearoom hidden in the north Devon countryside. Delicious food, amazing cakes and scrumptious cream teas. Friendly staff and efficient service. Inside the old farmhouse you'll find a cosy dining room full of curiosities and irresistible cakes! Also plenty of seating in the large well kept garden. Children and leaded dogs welcome. Parking next to the farmhouse in the farmyard. Altogether a perfect place to have lunch, highly recommend.

We were here last week with some friends for the afternoon tea (they'd booked it as a surprise for my wife and I) and were thoroughly impressed. The selection, quality, quantity & service just couldn't be faulted. One of us had the vegetarian option, and spoke highly of the alternatives provided, whilst I had the regular option, which was both delicious and plentiful, as well as having some unexpected inclusions (refer back to this being a surprise - I imagine the menu would confirm what you'll be getting). We saw food being brought out for other guests and that left us wanting to sample more of the menu, despite all feeling decidedly full. The staff were attentive but not fussy, helpful and polite when interacting, genuinely nice. The venue itself was very clean - as you'd hope for at a tea room of course, but this isn't always a given, made even more impressive due to being situated at a working farm. The facilities were accessed via the rear of the property (so you had to step outside to get to them) and these were also very clean (didn't use them myself, but the rest of my party did). It's evident the owners/staff take pride in doing a very good job, my only gripe is that it's too far from home for a day trip, but we will most definitely be returning when we are in the area.

Top ratings in all aspects.Worth the challenge to find a Devon afternoon tea of this quality. Children will love it. The presentation is a picture and the variety of bread to make the sandwiches inspired. The warm sausage roll an unexpected treat. The small orange macaroni an inspired touch. This is a tearoom with a warm welcome. You.leave knowing you'll be back.

We met up with another couple of friends, after visiting RHS Rosemoor. This very old and family owned Farm, is a little off the beaten track, but only really a couple of miles out of Great Torrington. A lonely ‘welcome’ and we sat on in the sunshine on a glorious day. A very nice menu, with lots to tempt you. A mix of interesting salads, quiche’s and myself opting for the ‘Scott’s Egg’. Really exceptional tasty food. Ours was a 14:30Hrs booking, and if not so ‘full’ the cream tea looked delicious as well. Professional and prompt service. Noting at all not to like. A real find, and this will be our ‘go to place to eat, when we’re back in the area. Well done all. Only problem now, is that as I ‘found and recommended’ this Farm, I’ve now been given the task of finding eating places where and when we all meet up!

I visited The Old Farmhouse after a friend recommended it. I visited with my partner and my 16 month old granddaughter, on a lovely sunny, Sunday afternoon. We sat in the beautiful, peaceful garden and enjoyed delicious sandwiches and lots of tea. My granddaughter loved it, little ride on tractors, a huge trampoline, donkeys , chickens and a tortoise . Plenty of space for her to toddle around and explore , it really was like a little piece of heaven. We liked it so much my granddaughter and l made the quick pit stop again the following Sunday for a cuppa and a play. The staff are lovely and l can’t recommend it enough . So lucky to have this on our doorstep, we will return soon. It’s definitely going to be a regular pit stop .

I came across this place on Google maps when we were staying in the area and I am so glad I did! They really need to advertise and get the word out, we went on a sunny Saturday in July and we were the only ones in there! The staff were so lovely and happy to help. The afternoon tea was amazing 😍. Outside there is loads to do too, donkeys, chickens, a tortoise, table tennis, gift shop! I can't recommend it enough.

What a wonderful experience. Found the place on google and was reassured by the high rating to visit. We were not disappointed. We had a ploughman’s which we shared and both had cream teas. The scones were so light and fluffy, with ample cream and jam. We were offered a tea refil but declined having tried some of the lovely fizzy drinks available. The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We bought one of the amazing pictures on display and mentioned we were staying locally for our birthdays. On leaving we were just pulling away to be stopped with a bag of fairy cakes for later. We sat inside in the traditional farmhouse but there was an extensive garden outside with an array of animals. Very good value for money and not expensive. I would highly recommend a visit.

We were part of a birthday party and had afternoon tea, consisting of half a cup of soup, sandwiches, sausage rolls, prawn cocktail in a very small shot glass and various small cakes, none of which was dairy free as requested. To be charged £18.95 a head for this, was extremely overpriced, though the surroundings were nice, it didn't make up for this and we will not be returning. As for the owners stating I only leave bad reviews, this is not true, I leave a honest review.

Well worth the tricky drive. Be warned, the last 2 miles (from Torrington) are very difficult, due to the appalling state of the almost non-existent road surface! Once there however, you'll be glad you made the effort. The warmest of welcomes from the lovely staff, and a cosy dining room with just 6 or 7 tables, within an authentic old Devon farmhouse. Our party (4 adults) decided on the cream tea for £7.50 each, and what a great decision that was. Absolutely the best scones we've ever tasted anywhere! So good in fact that we took away 4 to enjoy at home. Lashings of strawberry jam and delicious clotted cream, washed down with a refillable pot of quality tea, simply wonderful. Apparently they offer home cooked roast dinners during autumn/winter, so that's a definite date for a repeat visit later in the year. By which time perhaps that terrible road might have been resurfaced?

We visited earlier today and were greeted by a charming young girl. We had coffee and the homemade peanut butter brownie which was absolutely delicious. I saw cream teas come out for other customers and it looked amazing. I noticed that you get two scones which looked lovely and fluffy, (some places only serve you one). Another couple ordered a sandwich which looked really delicious. We absolutely enjoyed our coffee and the service was very welcoming. We intend to return again. I’ve definitely got my eye on a cream tea!

Google said it was open. Made special trip to it. Said closed for special event. Very disappointed. Seeing it is so out of the way you would have thought owners would have made an effort to put a note on google when it was closed so as to not inconvenience possible customers. UPDATE: And thank you for your passive-aggressive reply which, with some of your other replies, shows how you cope with negative comments (i.e., you do not try to help someone who has a bad experience to feel better and encourage them to try again which a responsible business does; instead you attempt to make my disappointment even worse by trying to make me feel bad about the review - you didn't, I just told the total truth in order to warn others that making a special trip to you is a risk). Obviously your reply has now certainly guaranteed that when I am back in Devon I will not try visiting you again, and this is all down to you, not me, so don't try involving me in a blame game. Others will have to make up their own minds about your business.

What a fabulous place, the tearoom came highly recommended by our hosts at The Little Silver House… his advice not to eat breakfast before the afternoon tea was spot on! Minestrone soup to start, Greek salad, sandwiches, sausage rolls and piles of cakes. Tasty food Heard good things about this place, so booked a table for lunch. It's a small tea room, but it's has numerous tables outside for when the weather is better. The service is very good and we didn't have to wait long before our food came out. I ordered savory scones with pork terrine and it didn't disappoint, it was very tasty and the portions were generous. They also make they're own cakes and always have a good selection to choose from. The coffee is also very good here. If your looking for a traditional west country place to have lunch, with some great food, then pop yourself along to the Old Farmhouse Kitchen and Tearoom

Lovely surroundings with efficient and friendly staff. Food was delicious and well cooked although portion of calamari starter was a little small in comparison to 3 large ravioli. Love to have lingered longer but had a bus to catch which we only just managed! Will definitely return when we’re in the area again. Good value for money considering the food and service quality.

Came in for the Sunday roast sharing board platters. They were everything we expected and as other reviewers have said. The food was very nice, so was the Devon Red cider - always a treat to see that on tap. My only issue and why it's not a 5* review is the food could have done with being much hotter, most items were only warm. Also the pub itself was quite cold which probably didn't help. A lot of customers kept their coats on, including us. No one checked on us throughout the duration of the meal but they were very busy. We will return but maybe in the summer.
