Beautiful food served with a smile

The food was amazing. As a food lover and a lover of flavour. What I was served this evening was as good as the food I had from Michel Roux Jr in London. Honestly the sauce on the main corse was sublime and the starter of muscles was so yummy. The service was great and the cost was really good.

This is the second time and it's is just the best. I had two different dishes and bote time the fish is the freshest. I recommend the appledo fish stew or the Hake they are both soooo good my wife likes the Burges. So if you are in Bideford this is a very good choice foehood food and a nice atmosphere.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Excellent food all cooked to perfection and well presented, great service especially front of house, nice outdoor area and wonderful ambiance including the music. Great choice of cocktails, Also has the second best Loo in Bideford😉. My only disappointment was that I didn’t get a Ta-dah as promised when my golden chalice of millionaire chips were delivered 🤣

We absolutely LOVE the food here. Fantastic service, atmosphere and the food is just perfection 😁 my fave is the crab tacos, when in season! Edit- we have now also eaten here for breakfast recently and it was stunning. Hubby had pancakes with bacon and a side of avocado toast and I had full English. Both were absolutely excellent and I thought for the quality of the food it was very well priced. Excellent service as always.

They say the best things come out of small kitchens and that is 100% correct at Mill Street Brasserie. Nice atmosphere, very attentive staff, everything felt fuss free and easy with a high standard of food from a menu that wasn’t littered with too many choices and options. Can’t wait to visit again.

We came in for a cheeky lunch today (17/07) the food was incredible. The potted prawns are an absolute must! The steak was cooked to perfection. Good quality food with great flavours. There was only one server who was fantastic and even though it was a quiet Wednesday, still managed to create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Well done to you all. We will be back!

We visit Bideford failry often and every time we do we have to eat at Mill Street Brasserie which, in our opinion, is the best restaurant in Bideford! The food is always delicious and it's great that the menu changes so there is usually something new to try. We have not been disappointed yet! There is a also really good cocktail selection. The restaurant has a wonderful cosy feeling, and it is also nice to eat outside inthe courtyard in the summer months. To top it off, the service has been impeccable on every occasion. We look forward to our next visit!

A wonderful evening last Saturday. I love the atmosphere..great music, brilliant front of house staff and of course the kitchen. The food is beautiful...obviously prepared with care and love and it is all absolutely delicious...squid, chorizo gallete, skate and hake. Great cocktails to start with followed by some lovely wine. This is my favourite place, looking forward to my next visit. Thank you to all the team!

Oh my. I arrived on the off-chance of getting a seat without a reservation. I was fortunate to do so but I strongly recommend you make a reservation because it will be worth the effort, for this must be one of the best restaurants and lunchtime venues anywhere in Devon. I had the Hake dish. As someone with an acute palate, I'm here to report that it was served perfectly moist, almost sweet, and incredibly fresh. The accompanying sea samphire, and sun-dried tomatoes led vegetable ensemble created a perfect balance of flavours that had my mouth watering. Trust me when I say that's a rare thing indeed for me. The Lemon posset dessert served with fresh strawberries was an inspired combination that simply exploded in the mouth and made for a fine encore. Add in the impeccable yet friendly service and you'd be hard pressed to find anything this good anywhere.

Here for Steve's 60th Birthday celebrations. Staff amazing. Friendly, professional. Special mention goes to the 5 Star Gold toilets. Absolutely amazing! You will be astounded! An oasis if comfort and complete relaxation!

This must be the best eatery in North Devon! Doubt you'll find better! My wife and I had dinner here on my birthday, and what a great choice it proved to be. Warm, friendly welcome, great service, and exciting menu with an emphasis on fresh local seafood. My wife had the baked hake, which she said was amazing. I opted for the rib-eye, which was perfectly cooked and so tender you didn't actually need a steak knife!! We both enjoyed beautifully presented, generous plates of food which were full of flavour. Extensive drinks menu offering, among other things, a choice of local gins and a reasonably priced and interesting wine list. Highly recommend Mill Street Brasserie. If you're in the area, be sure to treat yourself to a great eating experience.

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Mill Street Brasserie recently and it was a wonderful experience. The decor is lovely, very warm and welcoming, the music is just the right volume, there's none of that horrible echo you get in some eateries - where you literally can't hear yourself think - and the service was great. But the star of the show is the food, which was genuinely fantastic in every way. Totally delicious. Just 'wow'. We loved the whole thing and because it's within easy walking distance of home, we'll definitely be back.

What an amazing venue! From the moment we arrived the staff were so accommodating, professional and inviting! We had the burgers which are one of our standard choices but they were a level above anything we’d had before. The beef was perfectly cooked and had so much flavour, you could tell they put a lot of time and effort in finding the highest quality ingredients! By far the best place we’ve been to locally and would highly recommend! Don’t be put off by the prices as the quality far outweighs the slight increase over other local places!!

A lovely birthday celebration dinner here mid week was a real delight. Lovely home cooked food, attentive service and a cosy atmosphere made it a perfect evening. The squid was gorgeous, fresh and crunchy and the mussels some of the meatiest I have had anywhere. The decor is modern and atmospheric. I loved it so much I went back for lunch a couple of weeks later. It was just as good at lunchtime and the Welsh Rarebit on sourdough was delicious. I much regret not trying this excellent little Bistro before, but I will now become a regular.

We had a great evening here . We arrived very late but the staff were very understanding. Local food at its best, I had calamari to start and skate which was amazing , my Husband had mussels and then beef bourguignon which was also top class. We spoke to the chef/owner and she was delightful, all in all 10 out of 10.

My husband is a fussy eater and had the ex moor burger, said it blew his mind! - the service was also amazing and special shout out to the lovely sarah who was so kind and helpful. Booked for a birthday meal. Arrived and were seated immediately. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Menu a little on the small side, but we all found something to eat, including one vegetarian and one fussy eater. Food was really nice. I had squid rings, shared a charcuterie board and then steak and chips. All prepared and cooked with no problems. Prices were reasonable. Well done

4 of us visited. Lovely food, friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices for good quality dining Well chosen wine list and a good selection of dishes made with local produce. I really enjoyed it. I chatted with the chef for a while and she explained where all the produce comes from and how they create the dishes based on what is seasonally fresh. Great evening and will definitely return.

Absolutely wonderful service, best in the UK in a long time. This wee restaurant is a hidden gem. Great food, perfectly cooked. Fries better than five guys, steak that cuts like butter. Lovely cocktails and a great wine selection to choose from. If you're in Bideford BOOK A TABLE (and this is a must because it's small but perfectly formed, and gets full). Hopefully we will be returning next time we are in the area. Thanks again guys for your wonderful hospitality.

How have we not been to this fantastic restaurant before. The food was amazing & staff were excellent. We will 100% be back!

Went as a group of four friends. Thankfully they managed to fit us in last minute. We all had starter and mains which were incredibly delicious. I had crab nachos which we very flavourful. A couple of us had the Hake which was packed full of seafood in a lovely saffron sauce. Another two had the fish stew and cod, we all commented how great the food was and portion sizes. I really appreciated the home cooked fries rather than store brought. The drinks were great, throughly recommend a mango colada. We will definitely be back…soon :)

Really disappointed tonight due to the service not the food The restaurant was cold and they forgot our mains tbh wish we had paid for starters and drinks and left no real apology so will think again before we go back A ruined evening

This is a hidden gem. Beautiful restaurant and amazing food. Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Very relaxing atmosphere. Food was first class. My friends enjoyed the steak and I had fish. Mussels and squid for starters. Absolutely delicious! Totally recommended.

Having a wander around Bideford at lunchtime, looked at the menu at the door and it looked promising. We were greeted with a lovely smile and showed to our table. Our food was great (open salmon sandwich and a lovely beef burger both with all the trimmings). Great stuff 😊👍

After a long cycle ride in 28° heat, we had an excellent meal in a relaxing environment. Started with the galette, then moules with chorizo and spring onions in cider; lemon posset to finish. Washed down with a nice crisp South African Chardonnay. Much refreshed.

Wow! Where do I start with this review.... Absolutely love this little hidden gem. My partner and I decided to go there for a meal while we were on holiday and we weren't disappointed, at all. We were greeted by the most kindest waitress/hostess who fully explained what was on the menu. When you go in it's not very big (not a criticism at all), it has a very intimate setting which I quite liked to be honest, as you've not got loads of loud noises all around you. The decor is to die for, love the colour scheme of navy/teal/gold with the faux plants dotted around. I spent a bit of time in the toilet (not because the food was bad (haha)) but I was just mesmerised by the decor in there. The Emma Shipley wallpaper with the leopard print elephants and the gold ornaments. If I could redeorate my bathroom, it would look like that. Love the idea of the pink feather-walled photo booth aswell, which adds that extra touch to the whole restaurant experience. Now onto the food. Well, I was in food heaven from start to finish. We both had the salt and pepper squid for a starter which came out on a tiled slate, followed by the baked Hake in saffron cream sauce with Mussels and King Prawns with fries. The food is beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and the portion sizes are spot on! After my meal, I treated myself to a Brasserie Russian, which I've never had before, as I'm not much of a drinker. But I really enjoyed the mixture of the vodka, chocolate liqueur, Kahlua & cream over ice. You can tell they've properly thought about every little single detail. All these little touches really gives the whole place that "wow" factor. Amazing hospitality, amazing food. The place is just incredible. I love it that much, if I could, I'd drive 3 hours just to eat there again but will have to wait until our holiday next year. 5 stars!!!

We were lucky to get a table at this small restaurant but I am so glad we did. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We ate oysters, crab nachos (wonderful!), hake and much more, all of it extremely good. Visit the lavatory for an eye catching experience! Highly recommended.

Our first visit to this restaurant on recommendation of wonderful Northam Cars driver and it was lovely. Great cooking on a varied menu. Lovely atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. For anyone with mobility restrictions a taxi can drop you on the doorstep in the evening. Earlier in the day it is pedestrianised.

Lovely food for the price. Fresh and well seasoned. And decent portions. Fantastic energetic service from a lady who was so welcoming, friendly and easy going. We went mid week mid day so atmosphere was lacking a bit but I’m sure it’s great at peak times. Was the opposite of a tourist trap which you get so often in tourist areas. Very refreshing. Keep doing what your doing!

This restaurant is a true delight, I had an unexpectedly lovely time and a delicious lunch here with a pal. The exterior is unassuming and understated, we were greeted by the most charming and engaging member of staff, she was chatty and helpful but not too much...she had the most lovely manner. The inside opens up to reveal the most glorious dining space, dark moody tones, much foliage, and an accent of gold which gives an hint of old Hollywood/maximalist botanical. A round of applause for the bathroom too...Emma Shipley wallpaper, Molton Brown toiletries, I rest my case. This is all before you get to the heavenly outside seating area and, of course the food. The menu is well curated with something for everyone, we went for salad bowls but really need to go back and explore the food further....too hot for a big meal that day! Apparently, freshly caught lobster and other seafood is often on the evening menu. We briefly met the chef who gave a palpable sense of passion about the food she was creating and the restaurant as a whole. The atmosphere was upbeat and joyful, I was left buzzing about our experience, can't wait to go back for an evening meal. The coffee is excellent too. This really is an oasis in the very centre of Bideford.

This was recommended to me by Sadie (Atlantic Spirit Gin) whilst purchasing her gin at Appledore Farmers Market on Sat. She suggested the chicken burger. Sarah showed us to the garden and I had the bramble cocktail (fresh & delicious) and Derek had a Peroni....

A date night with my husband. We certainly chose well. Our food was delicious as always. We really love this restaurant! Crab Nachos to die for; seafood pasta marvellous; rib eye steak so tender and tasty. Lovely atmosphere, great staff. Well done!

Very disappointed as we had looked forward to the meal, after all the previous reviews raised such high expectations. The service was not as we would have expected. We waited 10 minutes after we sat down before we were even asked what we wanted to drink and then ordered food to be told that the starter one of us wanted had run out. Not a problem where there is an extensive menu, but there were only five to choose from in the first place. My wife chose something else, and it was OK , just not really to her taste. When the main course came, we asked for mayonnaise, and a spoon for the seafood linguine, which the server then forgot to bring, leaving my wife eating the linguine with knife and fork until we finally managed to attract another server's attention. For the linguine dish there was no offer of parmesan or black pepper, and to be perfectly honest it was quite disappointing. The linguine was plain with a little oil and chilli, and then there were mussels on top. It was fine, but not really tasty. The ribeye steak was small and only came with fries and a small salad for the £27 cost. I could've sent it back as I'd asked for it medium rare and it came rare, but to be honest I couldn't really be bothered as it took so long to get anything. The food was good quality, but expensive for what it was and it was a very limited menu. The only thing that saved the evening was the absolutely excellent mango colada cocktail. I hate leaving a negative review, but we spent a lot of money on a much anticipated evening out, and we both felt that it was disappointing.

She made a Simple quick Coffeei to Truely Fantastic unplaned unexpected few hours such a Lovely Great Relaxing Fun few hours. COCKTAILS were just The Bestest i had ever had .(and being over 70 years and having worked travelled abroad-i have to admit i have had a couple),tasted divine looked just wonderful.Fresh flowers herbs ,best ingredients equals with the skill of brilliant mixing.....out of this world taste. Plus a v v busy lunchtime full Restaurant .Found a tray of delicious Nibble for us too.All over and above what was normal. She was Abs Great as was everything.And i havnt mentioned how enjoyable Spending A Penny was. it was all just ABSOLUELY FABULOUS as was Louise . Thank-you so much Louise. The restaurant was chilly and lacking in atmosphere. This affected our enjoyment of the meal as we were cold. Meal was ok. Enough money for cheese on toast. Prob would not return. Shake as we had been looking forward to going there for ages.

Brushetta starter was an oily taste less with far to much onion no basil or garlic overtaste which is a Brushetta classic. Mussels were pitafull the white wine and garlic sauce was no no.
