Nice pub, with lovely food! Service was great, and staff very friendly!

Sadly it was quite underwhelming. The staff was lovely but the food was very sad and quite expensive for what we got. The pistachio croissant was a big let down too. Edit (in response to the cafe’s reply): Thank you for taking the time to respond. I acknowledge that my original review may have been brief, so I’m happy to provide further detail. I do believe my experience was underwhelming. My dad ordered the poached eggs and bacon on sourdough and when he received the food, it was a big slide of sourdough with two rashers of bacon and two poaches eggs falling to the side. The presentation was quite poor, the bacon was on the drier side and the meal was overall a little tasteless. I can appreciate that he got the exact order - poached eggs with bacon on sourdough - but having eaten that making other times, today’s meal was just underwhelming in comparison. I had the eggs royale, they weren’t bad but again, it was underwhelming. I found the hollandaise sauce to be quite industrial tasting. My mother had the eggs Florentine and she shared the same opinion. None of us said the food was bad. Rather, we found the food to be lacking in some regards, especially considering the prices charged for such. I live in London and was visiting for the weekend; for similar prices, I would expect a higher standard. The pistachio croissant was particularly disappointing for me. The pastry was stale and the creme did not taste of pistachio. Again, given the £4 price tag, I expected better. I did not indeed ask the staff to remake anything and perhaps you are correct in suggesting I should have. Of course, no place can please everyone, and I accept that this may not reflect the typical experience at your café. Still, I wanted to share my honest experience. That said, I do want to emphasise that the staff were absolutely lovely and contributed positively to our visit.

Good visit yesterday for lunch. Friendly local eating place., obviously lots of regular customers. Great scones! Spare extra seating outside for the summer!

We were given a voucher for a 3 course Sunday lunch with a 175ml glass of house wine as a gift when we got married. We booked for 1pm but arrived a bit early and we're seated straight away. The service was great and the food was excellent.we had a lovely time. The staff were really friendly.

08/04/2025 Update to my previous review. It has since transpired that the Rainbow is under new ownership, but they have taken considerable time to learn the previous recipes to great success. I'm delighted that the former deliciousness has returned and that the new owners have worked incredibly hard to uphold the standards. Thank you 😊 It is such a shame to find that after many years coming here, things have changed beyond recognition. Their delicous curry has always been a thing of great delight, sumptuous, unique and rich in flavour. Last night was so revolting we had to throw half our meals in the bin. When I phoned and implored to bring back the original family recipe, I was told it was the same, just a different colour, which incensed me even more that they tried to put it even in the same class as before. The attempt, since losing a much valued member of staff, has left them churning out slop, green in colour, watery, peppery and something akin to the contents of a baby's nappy. Such a shame. We will be looking for a new Chinese. Oh and you pay more for the displeasure!

What a wonderful pub. We picked this pub at random and we were so pleased that we did. We walked in and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. A very comfortable place. The food was fantastic very well presented and cooked to perfection.

Our Server Jade was amazing. So friendly, smiley and had great energy about her. She always made sure our food was good and always checked in to see if we needed anything else or if we needed our drinks refilled. She made our experience 10x better than it usually is and we appreciate her hard work! Thank you Jade!!!

Great Prices, friendly Staff and easy to find. The waiting time was quite good. Would definitely recommend a Takeaway.
