Meeting up with friends for a festive Christmas lunch. Sadly it would appear they had not only staffing issues, but building issues. ….it was extremely difficult to hold a conversation the hammering was intense, the nose of the ?? Coffee machine made speech inaudible truly, added to which our table was just by the door where the poor staff were constantly rushing through in an an attempt to serve customers in various areas of the Club…..truly this was not the ambience we had hoped to achieve. Two of us had small appetites, but we were allowed to have two starters from the Christmas menu BUT every one at the table then also had to choose from the Festive menu…although the sports’ bar menu was offered. The vegetables were very undercooked, sadly noted by one of our group, I loved the hot red cabbage, - not quite sure how to evaluate the service, as the staff were obviously run off their feet, but nevertheless.. not exactly able to serve our table when we needed to be served.

Visited today for afternoon tea for my 60th birthday. The food was exceptional, I know it's only sandwiches, cakes, scones & tea/coffee but sometimes it's the small things that show any issues. The only reason for the 3 stars is that as far as I could see there was no disabled access. I had to really struggle up the two stone steps to the front door (I was using my crutches). Once inside there was a stairlift but no instructions on how to use it and I didn't see any staff so I couldn't ask for help so again I had to pull myself up the stairs. I do quite often need to use my wheelchair. If I had needed my chair today I probably would've just gone home even though the booking was to celebrate my birthday. If there is a ramped entrance anywhere it should be signposted to stop this happening again. The last time I visited there was a metal ramp for the outside stone steps. No sign of this ramp today. It is difficult enough being disabled and access issues can really ruin a day.

Absolutely outstanding & Delicious!!!!!!! Savoured every bite! Chicken was perfect & soft & not dry in the slightest!!

Chosen for its beautiful setting for my Mum’s 80th Birthday. It was perfect. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was beautifully presented, flavoursome and thoroughly enjoyed by all. We would happily return in the future.

Saturday afternoon late lunch (early tea if you’re from up north) great food. Service was just right. Atmosphere was also perfect.

Sat evening meal was much better than we expected to be honest. Beef came with outstanding and well-cooked vegetables, steak was very good and the modernist treacle tart one of the best desserts we have tried. Catalan manager the epitomy of professionalism and charm. Slightly long wait for meal is only negative comment, given that it wasn't busy. Also relaxing and a bit different because of the space and lovely proportions in the beautiful Georgian dining room

A very pleasant experience. Great welcome, very good interaction with staff, especially the Spanish gentleman who was very attentive, good natured and professional. 5* The place now has a modern polished wooden floor and a general face-lift, much improving the look, but not the acoustics. We had simple dishes, salad and chicken. Both had fresh salad, excellent seasoning and dressings. Small criticism, update the cutlery and glassware, very 90's bulk buy, the plates were great. Price point was good. Very pleasantly surprised.

First visit since the refurb and another lovely Sunday lunch with excellent service. It’s especially nice to escape from all the tourists at this time of the year.

Had a wonderful time at Wear Park Restaurant. We looked around Exeter for Afternoon Tea and this looked promising. Plenty of parking when we arrived. The staff were very friendly on arrival and throughout the visit making us feel very welcome. We opted for Fizz Afternoon Tea for 2 people @ £32. You have the choice of Prosecco or Gin & Tonic. Each plate on the tower was delicious. Sandwiches, Scones with cream & jam (in that order please here in Devon) ending with the selection of cakes. On top of the fizz you’ll also get a choice of tea or coffee to finish off your treats. I was surprised how full I was when we finished. We would definitely recommend a visit and will be making a repeat trip in the future. Many thanks to the wonder staff.

Really good afternoon tea for a friends birthday. Sandwiches, cakes, scones with clotted cream & jam. Lots of nice hot tea (choice of teas offered). The only improvement I could suggest would be some more seasoning in the Sandwiches. (We had egg mayonnaise, ham & mustard, tuna & cucumber). Very good value @ £13.50 per head.

Mi esposa y otra pareja almorzaron en el restaurante a mediados de semana. Es parte de Exeter Golf & Country Club y, a pesar de vivir en Budleigh durante 20 años, no habíamos oído hablar de este restaurante. Esto me sorprende porque las buenas noticias normalmente viajan rápido. Fue una ocasión muy agradable. Decidí llevar a mi papá aquí para un almuerzo de cumpleaños. Él venía de Plymouth y yo venía de Dorchester y nunca habíamos estado aquí antes. El estacionamiento no está tan despejado pero puedes salir mientras conduces, la entrada del restaurante tampoco está tan despejada, así que nos dirigimos a la recepción principal y luego nos dirigimos al restaurante. La comida es de primera categoría para cualquier estándar de los lugares premiados con rosetas que he visitado. Five of us had a delicious lunch today, very good value for money, lovely ambience and attentive friendly service by Chloe and another lady. Wonderful.

Me decepcionó la cantidad total de sándwiches de 6 para dos personas, dos bollos, dos frascos pequeños de mermelada y ollas de crema, por el costo de 30 muy caros y sin valor para el dinero, han tenido mejores tés en el área de Exeter. no volveremos

El chef aquí es muy bueno, aunque él / ella no es demasiado generoso con las raciones y ya no tienes verduras como norma, ni los excelentes rollitos que solían aparecer antes de ordenar. Almorzamos aquí ayer. Hemos comido en Wear Park muchas veces y la comida siempre es maravillosa. No decepcionaron ayer. El salmón era absolutamente perfecto, al igual que el cordero. Las verduras estaban deliciosas y la tarta de queso con sorbete de frambuesa y frambuesas fue una alegría. El personal, como siempre, fue amable, amable y muy servicial. We had a really nice Christmas lunch at the wear park restaurant on a Sunday. There was live piano and the atmosphere was festive, but also very relaxed. Food was delicious, it is suitable for couples, families or work dinners. Really nice experience!

I'm so pleased to say that the lunch we had yesterday went toward making up for the'disappointing' experience we had previously. Everyone agreed the food was amazing.The boullabaise was exquisite. However, I did telephone and email the day before.

Reservamos para un almuerzo familiar el domingo para 7 adultos y 3 niños, algunos de los cuales habían conducido desde Cornwall para asistir. Hubo una larga espera en el mostrador cuando llegamos y luego otra después de dar nuestro nombre cuando se supo que no nos esperaban. Esto fue un shock ya que había enviado un correo electrónico una vez para reservar cuando fue aceptado y otra vez cuando confirmé los números. La camarera se disculpó mucho y nos dieron bebidas gratuitas, pero realmente arruinó lo que debería haber sido un evento agradable ya que algunos de la familia habían llegado de Nueva Zelanda y no se habían conocido en años. De la revisión anterior queda claro que tuvimos una buena experiencia en otra ocasión, pero desafortunadamente mi confianza ha sido sacudida, particularmente porque se suponía que era un evento especial. El consejo es que si hace una reserva en línea, teléfono el día anterior para asegurarse de que realmente tienen su reserva, no confíe en los correos electrónicos.

La música no era muy italiano. sé que otros italianos tienen música de ópera eyc no hubiera importado pagar un poco más por un cantante? 6 of us enjoyed a super breakfast at the club last Thursday Staff very attentive as we all seem to want something different. All thought it was very good value and would go again.

Last year this restaurant underwent a major overhaul including staff changes. It now provides excellent meals from interesting menus in first class surroundings. The staff are clearly well trained, efficient and attentive. Prices are very reasonable for the standards provided.

We eat here fairly regularly. Do not be deceived by the extravagant decor, it is still family friendly. There menu is changed regularly and is not too extensive which is always a good sign of fresh ingredients. The menu seems to cleverly combine contemporary dishes but with a traditional influence. The bread rolls are served warm which, in our opinion, is a nice touch. The quality of food is absolutely superb and the wine is good quality. You get a lot for your money as I would pay more to eat here. On the whole the staff are very friendly and attentive, the only negative I would say is they are a bit in-experienced but this has only been on a few occasions.

Wear Park has come a long way in the past year, when it was relaunched. I'm not a member of the club, but dine here frequently, and I imagine some people don't know that the restaurant is open to non-members. The food is always good, the decor is classy, and the staff are friendly. Plus, the location is absolutely gorgeous, in an old Georgian manor, surrounded by huge trees and the golf course. The menu is locally sourced, which is always a plus, and overall I've not had a bad experience since it reopened. Lunch or Dinner, it's always great. This year I'm going to book a Christmas dinner as well, since the menu looked so good last year. I'd recommend Wear Park for any occasion, although in the elegant setting, you might feel a bit dressed down if you were in a tshirt and flip flops. Definitely beats all the big chains on the high street!

Having seen copious amounts of advertising for this re-branded establishment, I was keen to give it a go. However, the warning bells should have rung when I tried to book a table the day before and the young chap who answered the phone didn't have a clue what time lunch was served until, and was generally confused with the concept of a customer making a booking. When we arrived, several young staff were at the bar chatting but made no effort to approach us, and appeared to be trying to pretend we weren't there. Eventually, by asking continuously, we were given a menu and pre-lunch drink, only to be left outside where we started to panic that we'd been forgotten...it was now 1.55pm and they stop serving lunch at 2pm! Their lunchtime menu, any two courses for £12 is a real bargain, especially given the variety of options on the menu, and the quality of the food. Eventually a manager arrived and he was great; efficient and knowledgeable, unlike the waiter, who told us he couldn't recommend the food as he's never tried any of it. The bread rolls were warm, which these days is unusual, but then we realised that they needed to be, to melt the butter which seemed to have come from the freezer. Our starters were lovely, as were the mains, and it is a very elegant place to enjoy lunch or an evening meal. However, the level of service really let it down. We came away feeling let down. What could have been a wonderful lunch and a regular place to lunch/dine, just became frustratingly hard work and not worth the bother. Seems a shame, as the kitchen team are obviously putting in the effort, which just isn't being matched by the front of house. Worth it for the food, if you can be bothered with dealing with truculent young staff. I can't.
