Probably Nice for someone else ... but not for me. I had a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea at GBP 13.00. I waited a long time. The bread was toasted (not my preference). On the other hand the cafe was nice, the staff were polite and friendly and the quality of ingredients was good - smoked European bacon was very tasty, but the whole thing was too far from the traditional for me.
The service was reasonably quick but wasn't overly impressed with the selection of cakes, the slice of cake was small and very dry (didn't seem fresh) and the coffee not particularly flavourful.
Extremely Disappointing Experience Despite Good Food – Serious Concerns About Halal Integrity and i advice all the people eating halal to not get there
We visited Street Souvlaki recently to celebrate my wife's birthday, after being informed that they serve halal food. Before ordering, I specifically asked the young man serving us whether the lamb and chicken were halal and prepared separately. He reassured me more than once that they were indeed halal and that separate utensils were used to avoid any cross-contamination.
The food itself was of good quality and tasted nice — we were initially quite happy with the experience.
However, as I went to the counter to pay, I witnessed something that left me shocked and disappointed. One of the staff members was cutting chicken with the same electric blade that had just been used to cut pork. I watched carefully to make sure, and indeed, he returned to cutting pork using the same blade.
When I raised this issue, the staff member involved didn't speak English, so the younger gentleman who had served us tried to help. He insisted, "No, no, we use separate knives," but I had to point out that it wasn’t a knife — the staff member had used the same electric blade, which clearly violated the promise of separation.
The older gentleman began speaking in another language, and instead of addressing the issue, he simply told me not to pay. I made several attempts to pay anyway, because the issue wasn’t about getting a free meal — it was about the principle and the lack of respect for halal requirements. Despite that, I was told to “just wait” in a very rude tone, as if I was causing an inconvenience.
Eventually, I was met with further rudeness and told, “It’s not our problem, what do you want us to do? We’re giving it to you for free.” That response was absolutely unacceptable. It’s not about the cost — it’s about contamination, honesty, and respect for dietary requirements.
If a restaurant cannot ensure that halal food is genuinely prepared and served in a halal-compliant way, they should not advertise it as such. Had I known this, I would have never eaten there.
This was a deeply disappointing and disrespectful experience, especially on what was meant to be a special occasion. I hope they take this matter seriously, because serving halal food comes with responsibility — and that trust should never be taken lightly.
Very pleased to find this place; we weren’t aware that The Pavillion is open to the public. The menu is updated regularly, Sunday roasts are fantastic with really high quality ingredients, the service is always friendly and the prices are very reasonable.
This is a go to place for my pal and I if we fancy chips by the sea.
We enjoy visiting because the staff are so friendly, especially Becky who always remembers our meals of choice ( fish cakes and chicken nuggets and chips) the food is always cooked to order, the ice creams are lovely too and all right on the prom with plenty of seating available.

Came here with lots of family for my Hubby's Birthday on a busy Sunday. The Food was tremendous, the service was fantastic and friendly and all of the family wanted to come back again. It's great here and the menu has recently changed, so we will definitely be coming back again to try during the week. Thank you so much for making it so memorable and its just lovely to sit there and enjoy the views with good food, company and wine!
Thanks to all the staff!!
We'd heard about The Tinker's Granddaughter through a friend and so decided to try it out for ourselves and booked the Sunday Roast Club - we were not disappointed!
The service was friendly and welcoming and the food was incredible. It was our first time trying Juicy Marbles steaks and I have to say, they were the best meat substitute I've ever had.
The only downside was that the room was quite crammed. We ordered first and by the time our food was served, people were still queuing right behind us to order theirs - which I understand is unavoidable but did hinder the experience a bit.
I also treated myself to a tiramisu to take away, which again was the best plant based tiramisu I've had.
We loved the experience so much that we've already booked again for June!
Todo aquí se veía increíble y volveré por una pinsa y un poco de queso. Tomé una copa de vino preciosa hoy mientras veía el mundo pasar. Personal muy amable y bien informado
Delicious food and friendly staff made this quick meal stop a very positive experience.
I plumped for the medium breakfast (available until 2pm) and a flat-white coffee (I was offered a choice of cup sizes and plumped for the smaller).
I chose to sit outside as I’m still very much Covid-aware. The coffee was hot and just the right strength. The breakfast (2 x bacon, 1 x sausage, fried egg, hash brown, mushrooms, tomato and toast) was £6.50 and there was a smaller or larger option.
I shall definitely return as it’s just a stone’s throw from my house.
I didn't go too Burwash I went too wadhurst.
I very cheekily asked if they were better than the Moby Dick as the twice I e gone there the food was awful so the lovely young guy said YES!!
SO HE WAS RIGHT!!! THE FOOD WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD!! I WILL DEFINITELY BE SEEING YOU AGAIN AND MY APOLOGIES FOR BEING CHEEKY!!!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EATING FROM HERE 5 STARS FROM ME!!
