Extremely Disappointing Experience Despite Good Food – Serious Concerns About Halal Integrity and i advice all the people eating halal to not get there We visited Street Souvlaki recently to celebrate my wife's birthday, after being informed that they serve halal food. Before ordering, I specifically asked the young man serving us whether the lamb and chicken were halal and prepared separately. He reassured me more than once that they were indeed halal and that separate utensils were used to avoid any cross-contamination. The food itself was of good quality and tasted nice — we were initially quite happy with the experience. However, as I went to the counter to pay, I witnessed something that left me shocked and disappointed. One of the staff members was cutting chicken with the same electric blade that had just been used to cut pork. I watched carefully to make sure, and indeed, he returned to cutting pork using the same blade. When I raised this issue, the staff member involved didn't speak English, so the younger gentleman who had served us tried to help. He insisted, "No, no, we use separate knives," but I had to point out that it wasn’t a knife — the staff member had used the same electric blade, which clearly violated the promise of separation. The older gentleman began speaking in another language, and instead of addressing the issue, he simply told me not to pay. I made several attempts to pay anyway, because the issue wasn’t about getting a free meal — it was about the principle and the lack of respect for halal requirements. Despite that, I was told to “just wait” in a very rude tone, as if I was causing an inconvenience. Eventually, I was met with further rudeness and told, “It’s not our problem, what do you want us to do? We’re giving it to you for free.” That response was absolutely unacceptable. It’s not about the cost — it’s about contamination, honesty, and respect for dietary requirements. If a restaurant cannot ensure that halal food is genuinely prepared and served in a halal-compliant way, they should not advertise it as such. Had I known this, I would have never eaten there. This was a deeply disappointing and disrespectful experience, especially on what was meant to be a special occasion. I hope they take this matter seriously, because serving halal food comes with responsibility — and that trust should never be taken lightly.

Delicious food spot. Had my food delivered, it was speedy and arrived hot. Staff are lovely and friendly. Will definitely be returning.

Our son said it was “banging” . Best greek pork this side of the med . So pleased the lamb was sold out as the pork was schmazing. Thanks!

A tricky experience from the Just Eat courier was overcome by the outstanding customer engagement from this restaurant. They understand that it is an experience and not just the food (which was lovely!) but also about the way their customers perceive their offering. A refreshing and professional approach! This is a genuine review and apart from me being Greek I am not related any other way with this restaurant, I visited this restaurant last year with my wife who tough she is not Greek, she loves Greek food, our experience then about the food was amazing, as we visited the area again this year, since we don't live within the area, we decided to visit this restaurant again, and what a treat, the food is so good you wish it never ends, after few experiences, where we revisited other restaurants and the food wasn't the same second time round, this restaurant is one of the best Greek restaurants where the quality, taste, freshness, environment, and price, has not changed, we do leave review when we have tried something second time to compare and decide, and this time I mast say the food was amazing as it was the last time, to all the undecided people out there all I have to say is, you have to try.

The ordering process was simple, we did not wait long before our food was ready, it was piping hot and so tasty. I have to say this was the best Greek food I have tasted in the UK and in the current climate we found it was value for money with good size portions. BE Warned! Went to Get Takeaway, last Saturday, and was DISGUSTED to find UNACCEPTABLE price HIKE.ALL Prices have increased in EXCESS of 30%. 3 Meals NOW well over £50. They are taking the Proverbial! Previously generally around £13, now just shy of £18 per kebab. They may have been trading for ! Year, but they ARE going to lose Customers, very quickly NOW!

We ordered a mixed grill for £35.00 from their website and on collection we were charged £45.00. We questioned this and had to show the website on our phone to be told that the menu had changed and we were getting lots more for the extra £10. We checked what we received against the description on the website and we certainly did NOT get any more food however we were gifted a long hair from the woman running the grill which we could have frankly done without. The food was just about edible albeit a bit dry and overcooked, possibly reheated but the overcharging and the bonus gift hair left a nasty taste in the mouth. We tried to resolve this directly with the restaurant but they chose to ignore our emails. We feel ripped off and the disingenuousness and lack of customer care is appalling.

Phenomenal authentic Greek yeeros and souvlaki, really worth the travel to stop and eat here, not too expensive, you really get more for your money, delicious food!

Absolutely lovely people and very warm place to go. Would recommend this place to anyone that hasn't visited yet, I'll be a regular for sure.

We thought we would give this place a try for a change as there were so many good reviews. We ordered a selection of meals for our family take away evening. We collected the food (so no delays with delivery). The mixed kebab meal was thoroughly disappointing. The quality of the meat was average at best and the meal was cold with small portion size for the £14 paid. We paid for a side of halloumi which cost £3 and received 1 slice, which was also cold. The pita wraps were okay, but again only lukewarm. Not good value for money and would not return.

What a pleasure to eat food with a different flavour. The Greek food was delightful and different. We’ve now been three times and will continue to visit. The staff are super friendly and the place is spotless. I can’t wait to go again.

Lovely fresh tasty food.I ordered the Greek salad and chicken souvlaki meal which came with pitta bread fries and salad with tzatziki dip. Food was super tasty will definitely visit again. Staff friendly and welcoming and place was very clean.

Really good food and plenty of it. Great service, we enjoyed a lot. Hopefully they will have an alcohol licence soon so we can wash down our meal with some Mythos beer :). Support this new restaurant, you won’t be disappointed

I ordered on UberEats. I was hoping for more portion as they gave me very small portions and there was almost no meat in my pita breads. 15 pound very disappointed.

We are very pleased to have this new Greek Restaurant in Havant. I was there last night with my friend and we had a mix grill for 2, it was just amazing. Very nice portions of meat and all sides and also really tasteful! We are thrilled to visit them again as staff was polite and provided a very good costumer experience by suggesting meals and describing items! Thank you Street Souvlaki!!!

After an early afternoon appointment in Havant I thought I would pick up some lunch from the supermarket. As I walked past Street Souvlaki I thought ‘why not get a take out gyros instead’ as I’ve been meaning to try the new restaurant. The service was excellent and friendly, the premises spotlessly clean and the souvlaki was superb. I asked to have mine prepared without fries and the portion was still substantial. I will certainly return soon for a dine in meal and also use it as a take-away. If I understand correctly they will soon be introducing a greater range of homemade traditional dishes. I look forward to giving those a try too.

I would like to highly recommend “street souvlaki “ restaurant in Havant by the train station . Amazing Greek authentic cuisine & nice staff working here . I have came today with my family for a family meal and we’re very satisfied with the food & service .

My husband and I have been here twice now. The food was cooked fresh to order, it was delicious and reminded us of our holidays in Greece. A little gem in Havant.

Amazing greek food, the meat is very tasty and staff very kind, family restaurant, feeling that we are in Greece, I would definitely reccomand !
