Kathleen's Coffee House in Portsmouth

Delicious food and friendly staff made this quick meal stop a very positive experience. I plumped for the medium breakfast (available until 2pm) and a flat-white coffee (I was offered a choice of cup sizes and plumped for the smaller). I chose to sit outside as I’m still very much Covid-aware. The coffee was hot and just the right strength. The breakfast (2 x bacon, 1 x sausage, fried egg, hash brown, mushrooms, tomato and toast) was £6.50 and there was a smaller or larger option. I shall definitely return as it’s just a stone’s throw from my house.

Visited after seeing the reviews and it being walking distance to our hotel on a weekday at 10:30am. We got a table as it wasn’t to busy but after we arrived it staidly got busy. Staff were friendly and ordered at the counter. The menu had a good range and children’s menu was good as well. My husband went for a cooked breakfast, myself the smoked salmon bagel and my toddler the kids pancakes. The bagel was lovely and tasty and my son enjoyed his pancakes, my husband enjoyed his breakfast but wasn’t keen on the sausages but this is a personal taste. We would have visited again but checked out of the hotel the next morning and no parking outside the cafe which was a shame.

Lovely cafe. Staff were happy, welcoming and really willing to help. A great atmosphere to sit and have coffee and lunch. Most importantly the food was AMAZING.

Very cool and laid back dog and child friendly cafe which serves generous and tasty breakfasts until 2pm as well as sandwiches and jacket potatoes. The cafe is licensed so bottled beer is also available. This is certainly an above average everyday cafe which appeals to those who appreciate a quieter and gentler sort of place.

Food and customer service are always great. There is a good selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch options all freshly cooked. Kids portions are available too. Cooked breakfasts are great, not greasy at all and go down well with a cuppa. I think they source their meat locally. Keep an eye on the specials board as there are sometime some gems on there.

Went in to Kathleens for brunch with my partner and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Service came with a smile, the coffee was excellent and the food was terrific. I wouldn't hesitate to return. Also in these times of covid-19 it felt clean and safe and was being sensibly managed.

Tried breakfast at Kathleens for the first time today and was absolutely delighted. The food was amazing.The sausages are the best I've ever tasted and the service and decor are all first class. This dog friendly cafe will certainly be getting further visits from me.

Had breakfast here today as part of a day of celebrations for my husbands 50th. The food was high standard, freshly cooked, large portions. My pancake came with lots of fresh fruit. Husband and son had eggs royale and eggs with salmon, both of which looked amazing. Three clean plates... only just in my case, as the pancakes were so filling!! Staff were friendly and helpful and the arrangements re Covid-19 were reassuring. The place was spotless too We will definitely be back for more.

The meals were excellent all round. We had a variety of food with great portion sizes and tailored well to everyone’s needs superbly. Service was first class and the shop was spotless! Would highly recommend this independent coffee shop !

As a family we all had 4 different meals and each of them were delicious! They even produced great vegan food! The staff were really nice and friendly which meant the whole experience was perfect! I would definitely recommend to others!

Have been a customer for a while and wanted to make sure the quality was consistent before I left a review. Oh. My. Word. Honestly I’ve been alone, with friends and with family so we’ve had a wide range from the food and drinks on offer and nothing has been anything less than outstanding. Piping hot poached eggs on silky smoked salmon. Crisp but juicy bacon. Perfect mushrooms. You don’t know how important this is! Slight crisp edges but still juice. Not wet and soggy in anyway. Chef obviously knows their mushrooms! Cafe is child and doggy friendly with a kiddies menu and dog biscuits available. Can’t wait to try out more items on the menu!

Breakfast was amazing! Ive been really worried about trying places again since lockdown and now totally feel at ease! What a way to start this weekends celebrations for my brothers 18th!! I have been a few times before and its always great home cooked delicious food and they are doogie friendly so always take my little pooch. We will be back very soon!! Cannot wait xx

Had a medium sized full English which was piping hot and all freshly cooked. Pork sausage was gorgeous and I'm fussy! Hopefully this little eatery will stay as a local addition to winter road shops
