My favourite coffee place in Southsea for breakfast, the coffee is the best and the food is amazing☕️☀️🌱

Bought a bacon and egg sandwich this morning... cost £10..... is £10 really an acceptable price for a bacon and egg sandwich these days??? No sir!!

Best coffee I've had so far in the UK, a great reminder of the excellent coffee in the South Pacific! Great to see alternative milks on the menu, and a perfect flat white. Delicious BLT and sandwiches too, worth walking into town for!

Lovely gem that provides real fresh food( and I’m fussy about freshness) The Buddha bowl is the best one I’ve had anywhere as it tastes homemade. The smoothies, coffees and cakes are also lush!

If you're a coffee lover, then this is the place for you. The staff is friendly and efficient, the menu has a good selection of excellent dishes and the café is tastefully decorated. The food is so tasty and beautifully presented. I had the vegan smashed avocado and my friend had the tahini creation. Both meals were delicious!

This is the best Coffee Shop in Southsea. The Coffee is excellent and the quality of the smoothie is superb. With regards the food this is also of the highest standard , using fresh local produce. The variety on.offer is very good with their own unique dishes. The professional friendly service is second to none. I base my experience on using Cafes all over the world and many in London and the South of England.

I just popped in to grab a coffee for take away and straight from walk in I could feel amazing vibe, passion and love. Stuff were super friendly. My coffee tasted so good and if I will be back to Portsmouth I'm sure I will visit again.

Went in for some brunch this morning. I was not disappointed. The food was interesting and delicious. There were lots of vegan options for my lady. We had a lovely waitress serve us. We didn't catch her name but she was a lovely red head! She was really welcoming and knowledgeable! Overall the perfect place for a coffee and some food. 10/10 🌟🌟🌟

I go here for the cakes. I have tried the buddah bowl and was disappointed at it being Mostly lettuce. But the brownies are amazing

Went with my wife, after visiting the previous week with a friend. Food excellent in quality. Plenty of attentive staff. Popular for a reason!

Waited 45 minutes and our breakfast didn’t arrive. Think the waitress forgot to put our order through and then the manager essentially accused us of making it up and didn’t even think that giving us our drinks for free was a reasonable thing to do. Really ruined my Sunday. Horrible service.

Coffee and food at its finest. I got a Finca El Jaragual hand brew coffee that was made with an aeropress and it’s one of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had. It was so complex and flavorful. I also got a Buddha bowl salad that was fantastic. The sourdough bread was really good too. I’m going to buy all of their coffee beans before I leave because it’s always nice to find a place that has properly roasted beans instead of burned coffee like Starbucks. This place is really top notch.

We arrived punctually for our reservation, and there was around a 35-minute wait for our food. Approximately 30 minutes thereafter, while we were still enjoying our coffee and cake, we were informed that we had 10 minutes to conclude our meal. This was a surprise and rather disappointing, especially as the adjacent table of the same size, who had arrived earlier than us, did not receive such a request. Moreover, we likely would have departed within that timeframe anyway upon finishing our cakes, thus it was neither nice nor necessary to be hurried. Additionally, if a table is needed back at a certain time, this should be made clear at the point of reservation or at least on arrival. We wouldn't have ordered lunch, as well as coffee and cake, if we had known this in advance. The lunch itself was tasty, although, especially at these prices, one would expect a better experience. As a Southsea local, I believe there are other places in the area that offer far better value for money.

I’ve got scrambled eggs with salmon, the food was tasty, the coffee was good as well. However, I don’t think it deserves 5 stars but I will give them the benefit of a doubt, the wow effect wasn’t there - hard to quantify, there is no WiFi in the cafe and the reception is really bad so no hot spotting either.

We wondered down the street to find somewhere for breakfast and stumbled across this gem. What a perfect start to the day. Delicious breakfast and drinks. Friendly staff and just a relaxed environment to hang out in. One of the best breakfasts we've had in a long time. Busy place so we were lucky to get a table, but so glad we did. Might be worth booking if you are in a rush or on the weekend

Popped in for a cake or two and chose a sea salt brownie and a vegan brownie. Both were yummy. Drinks good too. Can get busy so hopefully you’ll get a table but they do takeaway as well. Do love this little place.

Love this place, such a cosy vibe and ambience - and they do the BEST vegan avo on toast! I would give 5 stars for the food if only they did some proper cakey vegan cakes! I love the raw bars but the omni cakes are amazing - please make them vegan - no one would tell the difference! It means I have to go elsewhere for pudding, after eating your amazing meals! I want to stay with you and eat dinner and dessert!

My little piece of coffee heaven! I am absolutely blessed to live within walking distance of this fabulous independent coffee shop. You are always given a warm welcome and friendly service. Food is utterly delicious especially the cakes!! Coffee is delicious too. If you haven’t been then go!! Food took too long to be served and finally wanted to order more but kitchen was closed 30m before closing. Not my fault my order was missed. Not even a word about the delay … in the end I ordered a carrot cake , too dry… very disappointing. I went few years ago and everything was pretty good, not anymore …sad…by the way are you closing 30 before closure ???? Never again !

We had to sit outside because it was so full but very accommodating providing blankets. The food, was amazing!! Literally one of the best breakfasts I've ever had and was deffo worth the wait as it was so fresh and tasty. So much pride in how it looked too.

Expensive for the portion size but great service with lovely freshly cooked food. Always busy. Always worth booking in advance.

The food and coffee were excellent but spoiled by the really poor length of time it took for the food to arrive it cannot take 40 minutes to make poached eggs and scrambled eggs with toppings in the end I had to ask where it was not something I like to doalso not good when said water would arrive and it didn't

I would take a train from London to come here just for a breakfast! Amazing food, the Turkish eggs was tasty, with the right amount of spices/freshness. the list of coffee beans is amazing, I tried two different ones, one Kenyan and one Peruvian, both amazing! staff is incredible too

What a beautiful little place, great atmosphere, very nice friendly staff and oh my, the cakes were absolutely delicious. I can highly recommend the baked white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake which was the best I've ever tasted. I bought a cinnamon bun to eat on my train journey home and that was so delicious too. Luckily for me friend gave me the raw chocolate cake for my freezer which was also fabulously delicious because I couldn't resist a taste! When I come back to Portsmouth I will definitely be back. Great coffee too I give Southsea coffee ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve been to this place more than 10 times because of its convenience to my errands. I stopped temporarily after meeting the manager. She is the rudest most covert passive aggressive racist I’ve met so far. Absolutely lacks any form of respect or tolerance for anyone other than those who look like her. Without reason, she would completely ignore me and speak to the white person who came in after me. If I tried to get a table she would purposely have me wait by telling me there are no tables available but proceed to seat the next customer without a reservation. The last time she did that I waited almost 40 mins with my child whom I wanted to treat and they weren’t even busy as it was during the week. There’s a staff there that I’m friends with so I gave it another chance. I decided to start making reservations before going in to see if it was just me imagining things and even then the first thing she would say as soon as she acknowledged me siting wouldn’t be “hi” or “ “how are you” as she would with other customers but “there are no seats available”. The last time she did this I even had a reservation but she didn’t even bother to ask. Even her fellow staff member looked on at her in disappointment. Such a pity because apart from the occasional discovery of stuff floating in my water (happened 3times), the other staff are actually pleasant and the food is good. But at some point self respect has to come in. Why would I continue to pay a someone to put me down and punish me with unprovoked discrimination to make me feel inferior or uninvited in a public space that even unbehaved dogs are warmly welcomed into.If you’re in business do business and atleast try to be a decent human being.

A firm favourite! Easily one of the best cafes in Southsea. The food/ drink is delicious and the changing menus means you can keep going back and never get bored. You can tell the owners love food and are excited about using good, fresh produce. The staff are lovely and always go out of their way to look after you. If we have people visiting from out of town we always bring them here for brunch. Highly recommend!

I love coming here for food. The staff are always lovely, and it’s great that they are dog friendly as my dog loves all the attention the staff give him. I always go for the halloumi and pesto sandwich, it never fails. A must if you’re in Southsea

Lovely café with a selection of great tasting food. Staff were friendly and talkative and the autumn special Maple and Pecan latte was delicious! Would recommend reserving a table as tables are limited.

I have been around the World and am a fussy eater. The chef and team here are exceptional. If you like top quality food you will understand this part, the consistency of high quality is amazing. To bring out plate after plate at that level of standard and speed is something that is under appreciated. I admire the eggs florentine, the muffins are insanely good as is the balance of flavour and herbs to the eggs and sauce. This is now my regular sanctuary and I try to come atleast a couple times a month from 40 miles away to eat and relax here. That peanut and banana shake is unreal too!

Always busy inside it’s taken us a while to finally get around to popping in with a table being available. And it’s clear why!!! Fab drinks, awesome cakes and a real lovely indie vibe. We will certainly return. The salted caramel brownie, the blonde and the gingerbread were amazing. Loved it.

The platonic ideal of a coffee shop. Kitchen food always slaps. Coffee is interesting but approachable. People are nice. The cakes/sweets make choosing an ordeal.

My favourite Southsea café. Excellent coffee, delicious food especially the smashed avocado with crispy kale, and smoked trout with scrambled eggs. The staff are lovely and the atmosphere really nice. The supper club evenings are also excellent.

What a great hidden gem!! I stubbled across this beautiful and equally delightful eatery while attending #victorious event, the menu was exceptional, it’s refreshing to view a menu with healthy eating and quality produce. Also experienced coconut bacon which is something I’ll look forward to again if I’m ever in the area again. Also the service, this is extremely good, welcoming and friendly, I was travelling solo and nothing was too much bother and any questions were answered and a wealth of knowledge of her trade and food by the owner who is clearly passionate about her amazing business. There’s a gorgeous garden area located at the rear of the shop, all in all it was an exceptionally wonderful place to be. Thank you 💕

Nothing beats a Southsea Coffee americano and cinnamon bun after a big Sunday morning dog walk. The staff are lovely, and we’re slowly but surely making our way through the menu and pastry selection (the double baked almond croissants are next!). A must visit.

Food was delicious and beautifully presented but we've waited 1hour to get it after ordering that I think is unacceptable. Even our coffee came only after 20mins. If they could fix the slow service this place would be 5/5.

A spectacular brunch in a lovely peaceful garden!

Lovely, relaxed café with garden and very kind, welcoming staff. Food was gorgeous, several vegan options, I went with smashed avocado on sourdough and a cinnamon bun, all beautifully presented and very tasty. Coffee was very good too, was just what I needed today. :)

We we’re staying at the Queens Hotel round the corner and stumbled upon this lovely little independent coffee/breakfast place. We went here for breakfast each day because we enjoyed it so much, menu changes a little each day but I really liked the Breakfast Sandwich and a latte, very friendly staff.

A great quick lunch venue. Good smoothies and sandwiches. Nice staff too. Outdoor area in the back with cool magazines to pick up and read.

Ordered two celebration cakes from Southsea Coffee. The service was fantastic - they made something bespoke for us at no extra cost, and both cakes were absolutely delicious, we had the lemon and elderflower and oreo ones. Absolutely would order again from there and definitely want to go back to try the rest of the menu.

We came here for lunch because we needed to grab something ahead getting on the ferry to Isle of Wight. We struggled to find many vegan friendly places (this isn't it) that were open near the harbour and google suggested this place. They had a couple of vegan options on the menu and the meals we had were tasty, but not very substantial - the vegan options were salads without grains (e.g. buddha bowl without rice, pad thai but with courgette noodles) or without protein (e.g. "coconut bacon" instead of bacon). So while the food was really tasty, we were quite hungry felt like we had just had sides as opposed to a meal. They were very costly too. So I wouldn't recommend this place for a vegan unless you are looking for a very light bite. The food was tasty, but for almost £30 for two small salads and two small coffees, I'd expect a bit more. The atmosphere looks really nice from the outside, but when you go in you'll see all the cosy-looking plants are plastic.

One of my favourite local independent coffee shop / restaurant! Excellent for breakfast, lunch or coffee and cake! Tara and Martin have found a winning formula and their team are always well trained and friendly. The ever changing menu is always excellent and specials are added with seasonal food. Its worth booking ahead if you can.

I've always had good food and lovely coffee here but I've never quite understood why it takes so long to get a coffee, and what the coffee is never very hot. This morning was another 15 minute wait for a flat white that arrived 'warm'. My eggs benadict were a disappointment mainly due to being served on a very cold plate, and undercooked eggs. The 'buns' it was served on were not as expected and fell apart on the fork. It was generally a very underwhelming experience. Service was with a smile, although slow.

What I would say is book/ or it will be the first thing they will ask you as you enter, we managed to to get in, I do find it a little strange having to book to go into a coffee shop, feels like being back in Brighton. What I will say is they know what they are doing and they drinks we had seemed to be very well made. Well worth another visit.

Ordered an 8 inch vegan birthday cake and even though I got the date for collection wrong 😅 Tara and her staff could not have been more helpful. The cake looked amazing, tasted gorgeous and was excellent value for money. Will definitely be back

The place ticks all the boxes - let's start with atmosphere, which is relaxed but with attentiveness from staff. There is an inclusive feel, with space to welcome a broad spread of community members. Delicious snacks and impressive range of hot beverages - often with an unusual twist. I would suggest supplying an extra saucer when serving tea; the whole idea of a removable casette in the pot is to remove it once the brew reaches the desired strength! As far a tips by card is concerned (referring to another reviewer) that idea is a contradiction in terms! Anyone concerned that staff do not miss out should consider carrying a small amount of cash specifically for this purpose...

Buzzing place and lovely food. Best to book a table to avoid disappointment! Do not forget to take some cakes home as well! They are delicious. Friendly and cheerful staff, dogs are allowed.

I'm not one for reviewing generally but had to comment on what a lovely time we had at Southsea Coffee today. On arrival the café was busy (always a good sign!) but we chose to wait at an outside table - and I'm so glad we did! The coffee was perfect, my granola and berries delicious and my teenage stepdaughter loved her posh bacon sarnie on sourdough! Within minutes of us getting a table my (energetic) son managed to spill his soda all over the floor🙈 but the staff were so kind and didn't make any fuss, sorting the spillage with a smile. We got cinnamon buns and plum & rhubarb cake to take out and all were delicious and polished off at lunchtime! I'm planning a return visit to the delightful city of Portsmouth and a return visit to this lovely coffee shop will certainly feature. Thank you for a lovely brunch experience, no wonder you're so popular!

Can’t believe I haven’t left a review yet! I come here so often, absolutely love this place! The atmosphere, the people, the food, the coffee, all perfect. Been here for lunches, breakfast and one of the supper club nights and highly recommend going to all. The food at the supper club was some of the best food I’ve ever had, absolutely phenomenal. In fact all the food I’ve had here has been amazing, definitely recommend the avocado toast and the lentil daal!

Great cafe. Been here many times for coffee and bits. This time we were there for the monthly evening meal - good experience and nice food. Make sure to bring your own drink for the evenings.

My life would be worse without Southsea Coffee! Love it more than some blood relatives.
