Best breakfast in Portsmouth. Food is always banging. Portion Size is great. Staff are incredibly friendly.

Visited the cafe in Portsmouth and had an excellent experience! The staff was friendly, the food was delicious, and the service was prompt. The overall atmosphere was great, and the cleanliness was commendable. Fantastic value for the price. Especially loved the Chili Con Carne I had – it was absolutely delicious! A must-try dish at this cafe. Highly recommend!

Me and husband popped in today was our first visit because was recommended we had 2 BLT baguettes sadly there was more tomatos and green then bacon 2 poor sad looking bits of bacon did say to the cashier was nice but bit more bacon would of been nice

We had some time to kill unexpectedly on Sunday morning and wanted coffee. The cafe interior is very inviting, the staff very friendly and the food was freshly cooked and speedily prepared. I ended up having poached eggs on toast which were perfectly cooked. The only thing that could have improved it was a choice of brown toast. It was surprisingly busy for 10am on a Sunday morning with a number of regular customers. Highly recommend!

One of the best cafes around, great fast food, good portions and good prices. A tiny minor niggle is the accoustics aren't great so when busy it's quite noisey.

Popped in for bacon baguette having read reviews sadly very disappointing not really a baguette more of a part bake sub roll with two extremely small pieces of bacon . I would be so embarrassed to serve this up to anyone . Don’t get me wrong cooked well and staff polite but all bread no filling . Two stars for effort

Been using this cafe for many years always friendly and helpful staff and the food is very good.

Nothing of quality here. If you like cheep food and you like it all the same griddled falvor food and deep fried sausages then this is the place. I'm from out of town and have eaten here 3 time and today was the last. 1 vist i had ham and cheese omelette cooked and burnt on the griddle. and chips salad. 2nd visit roast beef dinner edible pre cooked roast potatoes and microwave veg didn't even bother eating looks like it has been dished up out of a dryed up saucepan. 3rd visit today egg sausage tomato mushrooms and bubble and squeak. There is no love in commercial griddle cooking. Had much better from burger vans It's just bad food. Avoid if possible.. I'm a fair man and give everyone a fair trial. And it's not exactly cheap to keep trying this place out. To keep getting black bag food.

Been coming here for a few years now. But just before covid a large breakfast was about £6.50. It’s now £9.90. Every few months the price keeps going up. For that price I expect a better quality breakfast. Can literally get the same breakfast in Wetherspoons for half the price now.

First visit to the cafe! Seems to be very popular, quite busy when we were there, staff pleasent, food was enjoyable good value for money, the only problem was parking there is a strip of road outside the cafe with 3 hours parking but this filled up quickly.

Always a good breakfast!! Servers need to cheer up mind you.

Usually has my full 5 stars as I order on Uber Eats Just Eat Deliveroo but not been happy to check every day of the past week. now this week, to see that it keeps saying, “opens Sunday at 8am.” “Opens Monday at 8am.” Now, “opens Wednesday at 8am.” I usually need to order due to have a family and a disability.

Very varied and extensive menu, guaranteed to find a dish to suit everyone's tastes. Had a lovely cooked breakfast. And the prices were very reasonable too.

Been using Highbury Cafe for well over 14 years. Food is always good and staff very friendly, clean and they have daily specials, and roast dinners all week. Would highly recommend 👌

This café is very popular with workers and passers by. I am part of the Portsmouth Healthy Walkers group and call in every Thursday for a drink and sometimes a meal which is plentiful.

Always very welcoming, gorgeous food won't go anywhere else for breakfast xxx

Ordered a takeaway from them, they use uber drivers as well as their own, Delivery driver was only 2 minutes away from my property but then spent 20-minutes go and everywhere else but our place Phone the cafe, they don't care who was delivering it as they got the money and they didn't care if they lost customers, Food was cold and not enjoyable. When not recommend them.

Los especiales son excelentes, pero la verdadera joya de la corona es su "estofado de ternera especial" que hace en los meses de invierno, que no debe perderse. Easy to find, but less easy if you're driving - the parking spaces opposite are very hit and miss, normally a miss. (It's a busy main road.) Plenty of clean tables, and friendly service. A large menu of breakfasts, plenty of options and happy to swap the odd thing, and deals to include a drink with your plate. Portions are generous, never walked out hungry! Make sure you have cash just to be safe - I think they don't take card under a certain amount, possibly at all. Banging brekkie!

We are a regular visitor to Highbury Cafe. We have always found the menu to have a great choice. The food to be tasty and the staff friendly. The food is traditional cafe food so if you are looking for a bagel or artesian coffee this isn’t the place for you. If however you are looking for a delicious omelette or a breakfast with bubble and squeak then definitely give it a try. Unfortunately they only take cash. Breakfasts are around £7

Well first of all I had to circle several times this quiet Sunday morning until I found a parking spot! Right behind the cafe in the service road! We ordered two no.2 set menu breakfasts both with toast, one tea and one coffee. And asked to substitute the beans on one for tinned tomatoes and requested that the beans were put on the fried bread on the other, with the egg at the side! This was accurately achieved by the staff yay. Ok as always the bad points first! It’s Cash only! Omg the Noise level was excruciating, 4 fellas on one table I swear were shouting to each other I do not know if it was just them or the acoustics in the cafe but it was so loud. I know this isn’t the cafes fault but just too warn you! The food had too much excess oil as you can see by the slick in the close up of the sausage! Any more and the USA would have invaded! The egg was getting for me to the very near the inedible crispy stage! Comparing prices to my current fave Cafe for almost the same price (45p more) I would have had extra on my plate:- 2x sausage 1x portion mushrooms 1x portion tomatoes 1x portion sauté potatoes (or 2x Hash Browns) 1x egg That makes this breakfast incredibly expensive in my opinion! Plus points The food came out quickly and was hot too! Everything was tasty Not too much fat on the Bacon! If I were feeling flush I would eat here again but it wouldn’t be my first choice!

A clean, friendly, traditional British café. Excellent home-made food. At breakfast time it was crowded with builders, and they're a discerning lot. Thoroughly recommended, with the possible exception of the rather weak coffee. But at least we could order our coffee in English...

He estado yendo al café highbury mucho recientemente, especialmente teniendo en cuenta que prepara comida para llevar. Este es perfecta, sobre todo para tener un inglés cuando despertándose en un sábado y no se molestó para cocinar. La relación calidad-precio es buena, y la opción de crear su propio desayuno, es fantástico, especialmente cuando tienes un poco quisquillosos. Lo único que he notado ha sido pobre hay huevos que no son lo suficientemente cocidos, pero no todo puede ser perfecto, pero recomendaría este Café a cualquiera. También hay comida para todo el día, tales como un pastel o pescado, así que es genial para todo el mundo.

Si quieres un desayuno completamente cargadas burlar gut, te recomiendo este lugar. Siempre es completo, pero vale la pena la espera después de todo hay una razón por la que la gente espera. La comida es estupenda y satisfará las necesidades de las barrigas. El precio está bien para lo que te dan.

Popped in here with my partner and our friends on the morning of our holiday. We were being picked up at 9:00 so made our way over for 7:30. We were seated quickly and the waitress offered us drinks. The menu is vast and caters for everyone's Tastes. Even the set menu items can be tweaked. The place is clean and the food is nice. Just what you need to line your stomach!Would go back again! And again :)

Coffee tastes like water. Breakfast was mediocre at best. This place will always survive as the clientele will eat anything put in front of them.

Went here on our way to the Victorious Festival with 8 family members to line our stomachs for a long day. Wow! What a fantastic, large breakfast we had (No4). Lots of it and all tasty. Lovely friendly staff working very hard, and all with a smile. If you haven't tried it, get there before the word gets out. Thank you to the Chefs and staff for a lovely meal.

We normally go for breakfast on a weekend when we visit but this time and because we were on holiday for the week, we thought we would try the lunch time menu and we were not disappointed we both had steak & kidney pie, peas, carrots and cabbage with roast potatoes, and gravy very nice, there was lots of food we loved, loved loved it. We will be in again before we go home, I love this place and the service is quick, the staff are polite and friendly. We worth a visit.

My friend and I were travelling back from Portsmouth when she said that she really fancied a proper cooked breakfast. I suddenly remembered this café that I had visited sometime ago.The staff were so friendly & helpful, helping us to even save money on our choice. The food was freshly cooked, lovely and hot. Even had proper bubble and squeak...........very tasty!Will we go again...........YES!!!!!

I've been here many times in the past and have to say, it is one of the best cafes I have ever been to! The food quality, quantity and freshness is spot on as some cafes come out with food cold, hardly anything on the plate and not great quality. Also very friendly place to visit! Great service.

This is the worst place I have come across, not so much a hidden gem as someone else put it, it's actually a greasy spoon on the main road through cosham.Nothing really much to say about the food just basic cafe food, average prices , coffee not so good bit stewed .Sorry guys just not a good experience .

Well I certainly don't have anything negative to say, it's just an ok cafe. The service is as good as you would expect, the food is good and wholesome. The individual ingredients aren't anything to write home about but they aren't horrible either.A standard ok local cafe.

This is a hidden gem in Cosham. There are plenty of cafes in Cosham, but none are as good as Highbury.The staff are delightful and recognize their customers which is always important. I visit throughout the year and its always busy which just shows its popularity :)

On a recommendation, we visited the cafe on Thusday 14 April 2016. We both chose omlettes (spanish & cheese). They were served within ten minutes (all the tables were full) and to our surprise, the size of the portions and quality of the food was first class. This was only surpassed by a surprisingly small bill. We shall certainly be visiting this excellent cafe again.

Went here for a breakfast, plenty of options too many in fact, it was quite busy, ordered drinks first I had a Coke from a tin can't go wrong there they did give me a glass but it was chipped and to be honest not very clean, my colleague had a coffee the cup was really dirty and the coffee was stewed, cutlery was placed on the table in front of us interrupting our conversation the waitress asked What do you want, well at this time we not decided, so there was a grunt and off she went, anyway after weighing up too many options, dirty cups and glasses with attitude we decided to pay up and go.The cafe itself was OK a typical greasy spoon, but was fairly busy and it seemed as they new there clientele so I would say they have there regulars who live local and can't be bothered to do their own breakfast on a Sunday morning. Definitely won't go back to this one lucky we were only passing through. Sorry guy.I can see you have some good comments, perhaps we visited when someone was having a bad day.
