The best Sunday lunch that you could wish for My starter portion of Moules Marinare was just how I like them lightly steamed until they open Plump fresh and full in the shell and a very pleasant sauce The roast dry aged beef was tender and perfectly rare It was accompanied by Yorkshire pudding, lovely roasted potatoes, delicious stuffing, cauliflower cheese tarragon infused swede broccoli spears and served with what tasted like chefs home made horseradish and English Mustard The staff were very pleasant and extremely enthusiastic and efficient A delightful experience so very impressed Ten out of ten Thank you all R

Booked a table for 8pm, we were seated at 8.10pm to a freshly cleaned table. That's the only good thing I can say about the experience. I must admit I was expecting Nepalese dishes, everything on the menu can be found at your local Indian restaurant. One dish, the Chicken Chilli and I quote from the menu, a touch of ketchup in gravy or dry. We had to ask for the menus, then we had to ask for our order to be taken. I then had to ask at 9.20pm,(an hour and twenty minutes after entering) if we were in fact going to be severed, 10minutes later our food arrived. During this time my friend had finished his drink, at no point did the waiter ask if he would like another one. The plates were cold, the food was so salty it was inedible, there was no spice to either curry and the naans were bland. The restaurant did not have any heating, when it was -2 degrees outside, guests were sat in coats or scarfs and hats. Back to the freshly cleaned table, due to the cold temperature it remained wet for twenty minutes. We were later informed the landlord was refurbishing the heating system that's why it was cold in the restaurant. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone.

How can you mess up a Ploughman’s Lunch? Come to the D&C and see. Microwaved half baguette that went dry, crisp and stale immediately. Cheese was appalling. The worst type of cheap, tasteless, doughy cheddar. Pork pie that was missing the pork. We will not be returning.

We visited on Good Friday early evening as a family of eight including a baby and two young boys. We were warmly greeted shown to our table and drinks order taken. Drinks arrived and food order taken just as needed with little ones in tow ... There was an impressive choice for children- one opted for steak with chips and raw carrots and cucumber the other for macaroni cheese with garlic bread. Cold milk also got their thumbs up. The food arrived and was well received by us all my pork belly was delicious! The grandchildren ate very well and throughly enjoyed their meals. Well done The Bridge team!

I should have guessed this place wouldn’t be great as I had to kick aside the rubbish (crisp packet, cigarettes, chocolate bar wrappers etc) in front of the door we had to walk through. The lady and gentleman working behind the bar both seemed to just be going through the motions, as was the waitress who brought our food to our table, no customer service whatsoever, pretty sure none of the wanted to be there, not once in 90 minutes did we see any of them smile. We had to get our own menus, found them at the end of the bar in a corner. There was no mention of a Sunday roast on them even. Luckily I didn’t ask about a Sunday roast, as the roast the very elderly couple on the table next to us were given looked dry and as if it had been reheated, definitely not appealing, no wonder they didn’t advertise it. I placed our food order at the bar, and we waited, and waited, and waited. The people on the table next to us arrived 15 minutes after we did, and placed their food order 10 minutes after us, but their food was served to them 5 minutes before we received ours! We were about to walk out and go elsewhere! The soup was supposed to be vegetable, but tasted more like carrot and coriander. The bread was ok, but the butter supplied was rock hard, as if it had just been taken out of the freezer, so it couldn’t be used on the bread! The tempura prawns starter wasn’t at all, it was prawns in breadcrumbs, and obviously bought frozen in bulk, not homemade. Tempura is a thin batter then deep fried, certainly not what was provided. We didn’t receive a check back at any time when we were there, not after the starter or main courses were served, fundamental error. Management obviously don’t care about customers. The chicken pie was merely a small dish with a watery stew inside and a piece of puff pastry plonked on top, not a pie! The vegetables were dry, mushy, and overcooked, the mashed potato was awful, very dry and tasteless. Whoever is in the kitchen has definitely not heard of seasoning! They have no idea how to cook as well. The item described as ‘hot chilli’ on the menu tasted more like a bolognaise, wasn’t hot whatsoever, and didn’t even taste like a chilli. It came with overcooked dry chips too, most of both were left. The chicken New Yorker was a joke! Overcooked dry brown chicken, a slice of undercooked fatty bacon on it, covered in something which was supposed to be cheese, but was completely tasteless and more like a mix of plastic and rubber, gross. The bbq sauce came in a little dish, so definitely not as described. I guess if you ordered chicken Kiev here you’d get a dry chicken breast with a pot of butter and a couple of raw garlic cloves lol. The chips were overcooked shards, most left. The coleslaw was revolting, definitely from a large wholesale tub. They couldn’t even cook sweetcorn, it was dry, tough, tasted like it had been cooked three times, and had no butter on it or with it! When clearing our plates as we were leaving the lacklustre waitress asked if the food was alright. I said no, it was dreadful, and explained all of the numerous issues, she just said ‘oh, sorry’ and walked away! She should have offered us a refund (could clearly see over half of each dish was still left on the plates), or even asked the manager to speak to us, but no, no customer service whatsoever. When I phoned to book a table Emma told me the place was fully booked, she then asked me what time we wanted to eat, and how many would be attending, then told me the reservation had been made. Most peculiar way to deal with customers. I guess she was hoping to put me off booking, wish it had worked! I wouldn’t return here if the food was free! It seems like only family members, staff, friends and those with no tastebuds have written previous reviews, or maybe it’s under new terrible management. Definitely the worst experience in a pub or restaurant we have had for years! Don’t bother believing the positive comments here, I doubt they’re genuine. Mine is, and backed up by the photos I took! Believe your eyes.

Had lunch here as mid-stop during 8 mile walk! Amazing food, really loved the healthy choices and range on the menu. I had poached eggs on sourdough and my friend had the avocado, sausage bap. Both really delicious, lovely atmosphere and the number of clients for a mid-week lunch speaks volumes for this place. Buzzing place, catering for all tastes and lots of options for any diners with specific tastes. Hope to be back soon.
