A comfortable dining experience with good food, a nice atmosphere and great waiting staff. The dining area is not overcrowded giving you space and the food service was quick but not so you felt rushed

We went for a roast and we were not disappointed. The meat on our selection was top notch. We had the 7 hour slow roast rib, that was served on the bone, which was amazing. The duo of roast rolled belly pork and beef was equally delicious. The veg was good, we ordered extra cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. The service really made it, a very funny and friendly chap (Irish)

My wife and I went here for a light lunch We liked the recent refurbishment. I managed to order the wrong item for my wife, when it arrived, she expressed her disappointment. BUT the waitress came back and said she had talked to the kitchen and a little later she was presented with a plate of scampi which she enjoyed. At no extra cost Very impressive Will come back and make sure I order the right thing next time.

The Bridge Inn looks lovely and we decided to go there for lunch. It was difficult finding a parking space but we were lucky to get a place nearby. The menu appeared good although it was disappointing there was no leeway on the size of the soup portion. Three of us chose main meals but our elderly guest (in her 90's) only wanted soup for lunch followed by an ice cream dessert. We were told in no uncertain terms, the soup portion would be the same size whether it was a starter or a main course. We would have paid extra for a larger portion, but that was out of the question. The grilled sea bass was awful; a tiny portion that was dry and tasteless served with undercooked vegetables. Certainly not worth £18.99 The other two meals were acceptable. We then had a very long wait for an ice cream sorbet and one other dessert. In fact we thought the kitchen staff must have left! We found the delay odd as it was a weekday and the peak lunchtime service had finished. Possibly the order got misplaced... It was a disappointing meal in an establishment that was clean and well appointed.

As mentioned once before, as a former Travel Writer & Presenter in another life, I don't return to covering previous locations very often, unless something has changed or I have spotted something that has added to the enjoyment of my visit or experience..and last night at The Bridge was happily just one of those..! Having visited the this lovely village pub, (the clue being in the word 'pub' as opposed to a local restaurant that you can also have a pint in), with my great pal on most Monday evenings for the past 6 years or so...and have happily drunk there on & off for a random 40-odd years too... we were both saddened to learn that the long -serving manager had recently retired and now, as creatures of habit of a 'certain age' age, we wondered if the changes that would no doubt be made under a 'new hand' would be er, unsettling! During the Summer this venerable old pub had been closed for an extended period during a major refit of both the large interior and the even larger garden & outside terrace..something that I feared might change the feel of the pub..(happily it hasn't as the warmth of welcome is still there and the 'old girl' looks good)... or whether the food portions in the restaurant area of the pub would actually shrink to pay for the cost of the massive refit, (again, happily not the case as last night our regular fish & chip portions were just huge!). In fact the only major change we immediately noticed last night was that The Bridge was absolutely heaving with happy punters as we arrived at about 7-ish..in fact we had never seen the old pub so full of happy drinkers, (and some equally cheerful diners sitting in the bar area as well), to the extent that we both wondered if there was a special event being staged that we had accidentally stumbled into..but no, it was just the sign of a very popular village pub on an early winter's weekday evening!. Happily our regular Monday night bar & restaurant staff of Adam, Lily & Jemma were also still 'front & centre', (the always effervescent Zippy sadly not working during our visit last night), which, as mentioned. ensured our welcome was as warm as ever. In fact one of the reasons that my pal & I visit The Bridge every Monday night.. apart from the great beer, (or Aspells cider for me) and our regular fish & chips, is indeed the fact that the young staff, (those above and others out front & in the kitchen, during the rest of the week), work so hard and in such a friendly manner to guarantee our visits are always a very enjoyable 'pub-like' fixture in our weekly diary. We haven't yet met the new General Manager, but if last night's latest visit was any indicator, he is obviously keen to continue..and build upon.. the winning ways of The Bridge..and long may that be the case..and so here's to next Monday's 'fish & chip night'..thanks everybody!! 👍

I would previously have described myself as an occasional customer at the Bridge. Went for a meal on a Monday evening in October. Atmosphere was good and food reasonable although there was a number of menu options not available. Problem came about 10 days later when I received a £100 parking charge notice for failing to register my vehicle at the Bridge. Having walked on the majority of previous visits, it did not occur to me that any parking enforcement would be in operation late into the evening and it was certainly not brought to my attention by any member of staff either when we were seated or when ordering at the bar. On receipt of the parking charge notice, I attempted to contact the Bridge and came across the Clare, the automated call handler, which I know has been a cause of some frustration for previous reviewers. I share their frustration but did, after saying that I wanted to speak to someone rather than trying to describe my problem which always resulted in Clare telling me that parking is available at the Bridge, get put through to an answer machine. I left a message and asked somebody to contact me to discuss it further and now, 10 days later, I assume that I will not be getting a call back. I appealed the parking charge and that has been cancelled. However, the whole experience with the Bridge with its failure to remind me of the car parking process, the reduced menu options, the poor attempt at automated customer service and, most of all, the lack of common courtesy in not returning my telephone call has turned me from an occasional customer to a former customer.

We had a lovely mid week lunch here, just one item on the menu not available. We ordered drinks at the bar and our food at the table. Starters were prompt even though we had been warned the kitchen was busy. Main courses followed, all nicely presented. I had the chicken & ham hock pie and my only comment would be there was hardly any meat in it and what was there had a ‘shredded’ appearance. That said it was all tasty. Puds & coffee followed. The service we received was excellent, attentive & the overall atmosphere was very welcoming. A pleasant meal in a pleasant setting.

Lovely surroundings by the river. Mostly good food, but not if you're vegan. My vegan salad main course was starter-sized and at £15.99 was very poor value for a tiny portion of vegetables, compared with other dishes. No action taken when I complained at the...

Really enjoyed our meal at the newly refurbished Bridge. Lots of good options on the menu, and the food was really tasty with good presentation. Service was really good too, and our server (sorry, didn't get her name) was lovely! Couldn't fault it - will...

A big shout out to these guys. Service & food was brilliant. We were visiting my dad in the hospital & as the visiting hours are 2pm onwards 🙄 I thought I would take my mum for lunch first. From thr first phone call, to service, & the food - & I'm fussy!!, you won't be disappointed! And portions were huge! The pickled watermelon 😱 was amazing! Nothing to fault at all. Thank you, we will be back ! Might even bring dad lol

How can you mess up a Ploughman’s Lunch? Come to the D&C and see. Microwaved half baguette that went dry, crisp and stale immediately. Cheese was appalling. The worst type of cheap, tasteless, doughy cheddar. Pork pie that was missing the pork. We will not be returning.

We thought it was good but no more. The staff were very polite and attentive. Excellent sourdough (although would of been nice to be included on a £49.95 for 3 course lunch) and cracking pigs in blankets. Cured trout was a lovely light starter. Beef fillet although accurately cooked lacked the wood fired characteristics. A fillet really doesn't have enough time to get flavour from the wood fired oven due to its size. Other larger cuts of beef with some fat would be a better choice. Accompanying veg were ok but the cauliflower cheese again lacked any of the advertised 'wood fired' flavour and cheese sauce a little thin. We also thought this recently when dining in the Avenue restaurant what a shame there are no real local sparkling wines listed. Yes Ridgeview is in Southern England but some 70 miles away. You've got excellent quality producers like Black Chalk, Hattingley Valley, Louis Pommery, Raimes, Candover Brook and The Grange all within 10 miles.

Really cozy bakery, went at about 1.20pm so there wasn't as much stock as first hoped (recommend going fairly early cod the full range) however what they did have was fantastic. The brownies are moist, chocolatey and very rich. Very friendly service too!
