Lovely restaurant next to a lake. Very good service. Food was nice but could have been a bit hotter when it arrived at the table.

First visited this place circa 2004-2006. Always enjoyed the location and lake. Very nice to come back . Good food and service, very helpful waiter who told us about the history of the pond. Also welcomes assistant dogs. Nicely served pint of Doombar.

Our son lives locally to Fisher’s Pond and when we visit we like to eat here because the food is good, the staff are friendly and we are able to bring out chihuahua dog Daisy with us.

Popped in for lunch recently, was busy, told we could only sit in the bar area, but the bar area is still a nice relaxing place to sit and eat. Food was great, came out swiftly, staff were nice.

Service and food is always great here. Lovely views too.

We had a lovely time today at the Fisher's Pond. We have been there before and it was not always great but we decided to give it another go. The food was lovely, I highly recommend the vegetarian roast and my boyfriend had the trio of roast which he devoured. Our waiter Nick was great, he genuinely seem to care and he was so knowledgeable. We will definitely be back, we are so glad we tried it again! Thanks for a lovely dining experience Nick!

I booked our table online approx a week in advance. Doing this was quick and easy. We had a late afternoon table booking and arrived approx 15mins early, so weren't expecting to be seated straight away, but we were. The weather was a little overcast and windy outside, so I was greatful to be sat inside in the conservatory with a lovely view out over the lake. Our food was excellent - perfect portion sizes, came out hot, and was served to us quickly after ordering. I hadn't been here in at least 9 years prior to my visit today, so it was lovely to visit again and have excellent service and food. We paid with cash - which I mention purely because since covid we've been to a few pubs expecting to be able to pay cash and not been able to. I tried looking on this pubs website but in the FAQs, there is no information about whether they are accepting cash or not. I then tried calling them twice but they must have been busy as no one answered the phone (and I didn't want to leave a voicemail) so we just risked it and took cash with us and it wasn't a problem, they accepted cash. I'm sure we will be back again in the future (this time sooner than 9 years!)...

4.50 for a bit of toast with jam? I could buy three chuffing loaves for that!

Beautiful scenery, peaceful atmosphere, even on Easter Sunday. Friendly and professional hosts and very accommodating with children. All of our meals were quite tasty, in very decent portions and very well cooked. No dish was a highlight that I would recommend, but the whole experience of the lake, the set up and the serenity of the surrounding environment makes this pub worth the visit.

We were awful guests, we sat down on a booked table, they accomdated us anyway. My mums blood sugar was also critically low, so we asked if we could get some chips asap, they had these out to us within a couple of minutes. Food was excellent also! Strongly recommend! Mark our server, was fantastic!

Service was excellent, knowledgeable, friendly, non-obtrusive. One notable positive was that the waiter communicated with the 9 and 6 year-old children with them directly, not through their parents. That was excellent . The food was also well-cooked and presented. My rib-eye steak was the best I had had for years, tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Waiters were fantastic!

A lovely meal in a great setting with views of the lake. The menu offered good choice and the service from Mark and the ladies was excellent. Thanks for making Dad's birthday celebration a relaxed and enjoyable occasion.

We haven’t been to Fishers Pond for many years. We decided to visit again and wondered why we have not done so before now. Service was great, staff were great, meal was fantastic. Our experience was perfect. Looking forward to returning. We had 2 small children who the staff were fab with.

Our fifth visit in two months! As usual our meals were excellent, quality of the food and presentation first class. The staff were welcoming and attentive and despite the restaurant being very busy our wait was minimal and had no adverse effect on our experience. Thoroughly recommended, we will be back again this Sunday!

Great meal and service. Amazing setting

The service was fantastic. The man who served us was friendly, efficient and entertaining. The food was excellent. Normally everything goes wrong when my Mum comes out for dinner. Everything went without a hitch. The menu catered for vegetarians well. My husband is a chef and said you could tell that the chef here cares about the food they are serving. Six of us ate and every meal was great.

Thr welcome good,staff efficient & polite,layout & atmosphere of restaurant outstanding,drinks very nice,lunch was nice but did air on the side of well done,I had the lamb which was very tough & chewy followed by the crumble which was again was well done not that far off of being burnt,overall experience was ok but wouldn't rush back for Sunday lunch.

We went for a birthday meal, there were 10 of us, none of whom were impressed by the food. We had a very long wait for our order to even be taken, and then an even longer wait for the food. A table that came in after us had their order taken first? 3 of us then had the prawns, all of which were very tough and clearly over cooked, not many there at all either for the £18 paid!!!

This place is absolutely amazing. High recommended for the Sunday Roast 👌

My sister and I visited for lunch and had a lovely time. The pub itself is very nice, cozy and clean. It would be a lovely place for a romantic meal as they had the fires lit and a view across the pond. The food was lovely too, we both had fish finger sandwiches. The only flaw I’d say is that it could have been garnished with a bit of greenery/ side salad but what we had was still tasty. The lady who served us was very kind and attentive. Will definitely go back.

We had a lovely lunch. The restaurant was clean, tidy and welcoming. The staff were friendly and happy to help, especially our waiter Nick. He took care of our needs with kindness. It was refreshing to be waited on by someone who was interested in you and your day together with hood conversation.

Spent today £141.30 on 3 adults and two children Sunday lunches, mains and dessert, hot chocolate two teas and two ciders and on gin and tonic. Kids menu pizza was very hard and dry, roast pork lunch with one half hard parsnip, one slice of cooked apple, hard small roast potatoes (been sitting about) for a while, one stem of broccoli, half a cooked carrot, one Yorkshire pudding that the was plate swimming in gravy. Not very good for the money double the price for what it was worth. The Lamb steak was dry with all the some veg etc as above. Never visit again

We were treated to a wonderful meal, dinner was served and was absolutely delicious! Atmosphere was great, cozy dining room and great attentive service from Lyn! Who I thought I would mention! We shall visit again

The decor is beautiful. It’s a really lovely location and really comfortable to sit in. However - that’s kind of where the greatness stops. We walked into an almost empty restaurant - about 2 other tables there. We were greeted by 3 members of staff at the bar, not one smiled. We were then sat at the back of the restaurant near the exit - which seemed bizarre, so we asked if we could sit near the fire. We sat by the fire and a waitress came to take our order. Again, not a single smile in sight. Our starters came quite quickly - prawns to share. They were over cooked and no bread to accompany. Our mains took about 20 minutes to arrive. It wasn’t awful, but it also wasnt memorable. We then decided on the chocolate pot to share as it looked incredible. It came and was underwhelming. It wasn’t great chocolate used, so it tasted quite bland.

Stopped by for a late lunch, good food and comfortable restaurant. Will definitely stop by in the summer months to admire the lake setting.

Visited Friday Evening with Family, food was delicious and if you are lucky enough to be served by Nick, you'll be in for a treat! Definitely leaves you with a smile on your face! Highly recommend this restaurant/pub. All Dietary requirements are catered for. We will definitely be back again in the not so distant future and really hope we are served by Nick again 😊

Lovely atmosphere, staff really friendly and attentive. Menu a bit limited. More fish options would be great. I tried the BBQ chicken skewers but the amount of pepper was too much. The staff were great but very busy - it seemed to me not enough people serving but this is hard to plan for I do understand.

A lovely pub/restaurant, nicely decorated & kitted out well. Not sure early Sunday evening in January was seeing it at its best.

We hadn't booked but found us a nice table for 2 near a fire (it was cold!). Service was excellent from the time we walked in to when we left. Mark was are main waiter, he was brilliant and very attentive. Food was superb, cooked to perfection and good quality, at a competitive price 😋 😀 👍

Lovely pub to visit when on a lake. Well kept beer and a great range of other drinks, food is tasty and reasonably priced, staff are welcoming and friendly.

Have started coming back regularly the last 3 months after previously having 2 experiences which were poor (a year ago) each time recently we booked either lunch or early dinner and it’s been busy as we leave, food portions and value for money are very reasonable. Service wise have had Nick and 2 other servers (both female & blonde) all have been brilliant - the only issue is needing more staff as the servers are always very busy and can be left waiting a while (which is why we go when it’s quieter)

Food was poor standard, 1 meal came out wrong and my son had to wait for it to be re made , waitress didn't put our drinks order in , so I had to go to bar myself in a table service restaurant, not a good night out, extremely expensive for under standard food

Staff are really friendly and looking out for you. The food was absolutely amazing and the pub itself is very cosy and the view of the lake..., absolutely spectacular. Definitely recommend

When we order a hot meal we want it cooked and hot. Al dante carrots which are enormously fat were too undercooked. Plates were cold. After a £1.2million refurbishment I would have thought they’d have i stalled a plate/dish warmers. Nope. A very mediocre meal. Won’t return. Wouldn’t recommend.

The food was on the whole good quality although not quite what we ordered The service from our waiter was good. The service at the bar was not a great experience.

I never write a review on restaurants normally as its very much a personal taste on whether you like it or not but on this occasion, thought i would share our experience. Party of 7, we turned up dead on time thinking it was going to be busy, all good, really quiet, being really quiet, you would expect a fairly seamless service. Our Waitress did not arrive until 12.15, as she walked past to put her coat away, no apology, just said, i would be back in 5. Just gone 12.30, she came back and took the drinks order. Still very quiet in the pub, and had a fair few staff wandering around. 12.50 drinks arrive, why such the long wait? I booked this for the Office staff, being Christmas, opted for the Festive menu at the time of booking. Started to order, obviously everyone was wanting the Turkey or, Christmas styled lunch. No Turkey/Roast lunch available, this, we were told was reserved for larger parties. i explained that i wasn't asked to reserve, she went on to say "IT IS RESERVED FOR LARGER PARTIES!" so, without wanting to upset anyone further proceeded to order what was left on offer which, as we had the Festive menu, was either Korean chicken or vegetarian. The meal turned up approx 30mins later, Luke warm and fairly tasteless. Looking around again, the pub was still quiet, bearing in mind that it was getting close to 2pm and still no larger parties for the Turkey. The waitress did start clearing the plates once we had finished, i say started, she did half the table and never returned. It really was a shame as you were recommended, it looked great but quite frankly, the service was absolutely appalling, the waitress was rude and it just felt that we were just an inconvenience throughout.

We went there for our pretend Christmas as my son and his family are away over Christmas and we wanted to celebrate with our 11 year old granddaughter. We opened some presents in the morning then the 5 of us went to Fishers Pond for our Christmas Lunch.

Was our anniversary, went along with the baby in a pram and the dog. Manager in a Christmas jumper was a little rude saying we could only go in the bar area as we had a little dog and we should have let them know. I said we did book and I rang to check. Lovely older lady took over and said it was not a problem, and the staff could not be more welcoming or pleasant from that point on. Everyone was lovely. The waiter/server was his first night on. He was friendly still and checked everything as we went. Pate and chorizo to start... not enough bread and asked for 1 slice extra. We somehow got a whole plate of bread and butter which we got charged for. This is the only downside and we didn't complain. Mains the chicken and the pork belly. Lovely. I had a glass of wine and we were too full for dessert. Great from start to finish. Lovely lady also came over with some dog treats for our Pomsky. If we lived in the area we would be back

Felt a bit let down at fishers pond.The food was luke warm by the time we got to eat it,the Yorkshire pudding was flat and tasting like dough,only one hoice of potatoes no crispy ones and to top it all both gravy pots was empty had to wait for it to be topped up.It was not up to the standards I was expecting ,won't be visiting again.

Prawn starter was over cooked and tasteless..burger for main dry chips burnt cost us £75 with a drink awful omg wont go back for food Service well the lady was not interested whole experience awful

5 of us had lunch, opting for soup or calamari starter then skewers. Nice food, pleasant wine and coffee, lovely view from our table. Courteous and efficient staff. Slightly late opening and no proper heating, although there was an open fire and a few heaters, we found it a bit chilly for which they apologised, however I would have preferred a free coffee or something.

Our waiter was superb. The food was good, if a little expensive for what you got. Hadn't been here for a few years and it seems to have lost a bit of the atmosphere it used to have. Still a nice pub though.

Great restaurant, great service, and dog friendly!

A big pub on the Main road from Fair Oak to Otterbourne. Plenty of parking, a big pub with plenty of seating inside & out, overlooking a big lake out the back which is lovely during the summer. We visited to eat on a rainy gloomy Sunday as we fancied a roast. However just our luck but their boiler, apparently had broken down & it was rather chilly inside. It would have been good customer service to have been told before seating us & taking our order. Even after we asked why it was so cold & noticing others still had coats on, we were offered no apology and nothing was mentioned apart from when we asked the young man who served us. Before we had finished our dinner, it was cold! A rather disappointing & uncomfortable visit.

Whilst I appreciate things often happen out of our control, we arrived after booking a table to a restaurant that was literally freezing, we ate in our coats and the food although was good, did not stay hot for very long. Their heating had broken but I really think they should have called to advise of this as basically we sat in total discomfort! No offer of hot drinks was made nor a reduction in our bill. We could not go elsewhere as we were timed for the next event. I feel my friends birthday meal was marred because of this. A simple text / call would have been most welcome.......

The overall 3 course meal for 16 was amazing there was 2 mistakes but soon rectified i with a large party would go again 100 percent amazing xx

Visited for a family Birthday. Booked for a Sunday in advance. The food was at best overpriced and average. We had to ask for menus after 10-15 minutes if being sat down. My partner a vegetarian asked for the vegetarian roast - told they didn't have any, then was told she could have the veg and veggie gravy but no veggie Yorkshire pudding, she asked for cauliflower cheese to bulk it out - when it came out, we were told there was no cauliflower cheese left. Then my son ( having a burger and chips) was told they hadn't had any ketchup since the day before. Both my kids didn't receive their veg sticks. I had the trio of roasts - supposed to come with crackling - the 10mm thick pork was surrounded by a 30mm cover of rubbery soft fat. The beef was 50% sinew and gristle - definitely not sirloin as described. And don't get me started on the roast potatoes - not ruffled not crispy and looked like they'd used the wrong type of spuds, come on, tiktok and YouTube are full of "the perfect" roast potatoes - these chefs obviously don't do WiFi...... My daughter ordered fries with her food but got chips and to top it offthey charged us for the cauliflower we didn't get, they then knocked it off the bill after adding the device charge so we paid 10% extra for something we didn't even get... Sadly for a lovely venue, we were very disappointed. We didn't want to make a fuss by complaining at it spoils the atmosphere when you have a big table for an 18th Birthday. We will be looking for new recommendations for our next family outing. I really don't like giving bad reviews but I feel others should be warned - a few of our party travelled quite a long way to eat here. We all agreed to not bother with deserts - for 11 people to agree that, I think it speaks volumes.

We had a lovely family lunch in a lovely restaurant. The food and service were all excellent. Nick looked after us very well, was attentive and professional and welcoming. We would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Unfortunately not a good food experience

We had chicken foresteir and it was absolutely delicious, we had excellent service and didn’t feel rushed nor forgotten about. We had had a Sunday lunch a few weeks previously which was served cold, it was replaced with a lovely hot lunch, felt disappointed that it couldn’t have been served hot first time out of kitchen. But no issues this time & will go back

Unfortunately the choice was limited, the presentation of the meals was poor. One dessert was inedible. Couldn't have hot drinks after our meal as they had run out of milk!!!! Overall, very disappointing.

The roast lunch was delicious. Staff were very attentive. I would highly recommend visiting.

Was a little cold inside but was a very cold evening. We had a lovely time and food was amazing. Love the look off the place . Very cosy. Didnt like the tip bit on visa machine. I find it embarrassing. If i want to tip i will. But not pressured whilst waiter was there.

Very large restaurant - certainly good for big parties. The food was good.

Lovely food, staff and venue. We had a great table by a window overlooking the lake. Our Sunday roasts were fabulous and tasty. The staff were very friendly and attentive, especially Mark, Tom and Amber. We've booked to go back for a special Boxing day lunch with family.

Staff were pleasant, although, could have done with at least one more member. Eg, initially only one woman serving so short wait for coffee, then no sugar, which gave the poor women extra journey which could have been avoided if brought along with the coffee. T Ordered Fish and Chips, signature burgher and 2 brisket sandwiches. First two meals were delicious, however sandwiches were under whelming , bog standard white bread, which was stale or had been sitting under the heat lamps,, no garnish to make the dish more appetising, and worst still no dipping gravy on the plate so we had to ask. How this could have been forgotten was beyond me when there was so little in the plate. And to top it all the sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel was far too salty. Over all a disappointing experience. This was birthday lunch which made things worse. We traveled some way, sadly we won’t come again. Lastly, looking at the bill ni service charge was recorded, however when we got home and looked ant the transaction receipt a service charge was added. This did not give us the opportunity to agree or disagree the charge.

Food was OK but there is less choice at Vintage Inns compared to the competition. We had a voucher to use due to a previous poor experience but it could not be applied as your system erronousely identified our meal as a lunchtime special but it was past 5pm and we ordered from the Alcarte menu. The manager had to sort it out. So all in all not a great experience yet again.

I hate to write a bad review but this is the worst meal out we have had in many many years and frankly I feel people should be warned not to come and waste their money. The food was for the most part inedible. The servers were mostly friendly and tried their best but the meal was beyond disappointing, sorry to say.

Our visit to the fishpond was to celebrate my daughter’s 19th birthday. We visited with close family.. we chose the fishpond as we do like to visit and dine Vintage Inns and we had a QR code, providing 40% off main courses for groups of up to 6. The waiter we had was lovely, but we were disappointed that as a group we couldn’t split the bill into two parties so that we could take full advantage of the discount.

Fab pub/restaurant. Service was really good and Jennie was particularly helpful annd friendly and is an absolute credit to Fishers Pond. Food was great too and there were fab views as well. This was our first visit but we’ll definitely be back when we are in the area.

Service from Sam was excellent and food served very promptly. The food could have been hotter but tasted lovely and did not detract from the overall experience.

Food barely warm and service below par

Sadly disappointed. Food was cold and I mean literally cold to the point that I had to ask them to warm it up. Kids meals came with drinks yet they never offered as already ordered soft drinks. Had to ask a minimum of twice for everything as they kept forgetting. Overall a bit of a let down. I really am surprised at the level of service people are satisfied with. Hopefully it was just a bad experience for us.
