Booked a table for 8pm, we were seated at 8.10pm to a freshly cleaned table. That's the only good thing I can say about the experience. I must admit I was expecting Nepalese dishes, everything on the menu can be found at your local Indian restaurant. One dish, the Chicken Chilli and I quote from the menu, a touch of ketchup in gravy or dry. We had to ask for the menus, then we had to ask for our order to be taken. I then had to ask at 9.20pm,(an hour and twenty minutes after entering) if we were in fact going to be severed, 10minutes later our food arrived. During this time my friend had finished his drink, at no point did the waiter ask if he would like another one. The plates were cold, the food was so salty it was inedible, there was no spice to either curry and the naans were bland. The restaurant did not have any heating, when it was -2 degrees outside, guests were sat in coats or scarfs and hats. Back to the freshly cleaned table, due to the cold temperature it remained wet for twenty minutes. We were later informed the landlord was refurbishing the heating system that's why it was cold in the restaurant. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone.

What a lovely welcome we git when we arrived. The food was delicious with fresh ingredients did not have to wait too long and it was piping hot when it arrived. I had the chicken balti and mushroom rice with sag paneer as a side my husband had chicken tika biriani and sag also , both our choices were excellent. Lovely staff very friendly.

The restaurant is light and airy, though somewhat marred by an area of wall and ceiling covered with mould. The meal was adequate. X had the lamb dhansak she orders as a benchmarks when she visits a new restaurant. She gave it a 7: she liked the crunch on the onion, but felt it was short on lamb. We all agreed her naan was good. Y had the Kerala tilapia, which was advertised as catch of the day. She gave it a 6, saying that it wasn't at all flaky, suggesting it either wasn't fresh or had been seriously overcooked. I decided to order a Nepalese dish, the chicken 65. It was OK, but there was nothing distinctive about it. I ate about 40% before I couldn't be bothered. The menu lists a range of allergens that customers might want to enquire about. I am afraid our waiter hadn't a clue and we had to insist that he find out. As I said, we were disappointed.

We had a delicious meal... best is a while, food was really tasty, fabulous fresh flavours and reasonably priced, the staff were very friendly and attentive! Will definately be going back with friends... soon! 😋

The food here is excellent, good quality ingredients are used. The curries weren't greasy. Good choice on the menu. Reasonable prices. The host was very helpful and friendly. Would recommend.

We first came across Gurkha Restaurants in York & we so enjoyed their food that whenever we go somewhere different we always try to eat Gurkha food if we can…..We were not disappointed at The Taste of Gurkha! The flavours were very subtle & not over powering, but SO flavoursome! Very Friendly, welcoming Staff who gave us excellent service. We are planning on coming back to Winchester & will most definitely be eating here again. Thank you so much.

Arrived at 7.30 for our reservation, food arrived at 8.40, just 2 curries and a pilau rice. Very poor attention to us as customers. Food was very tasty. No goodbye at the end, no sense of being valued customer throughout the meal, no attention to detail.

these guys catered for nearly 40 of us last night and I have to say, the welcoming, service and all the food the made for us was 100%, real friendly people, I would highly recommend if your in the area and fancy some food then give these guys a try.

The food and service cannot be beaten. The restaurant is a pleasant setting. We had a cosy experience and it was perfect for a special occasion. I really recommend the food and it is not overpriced. The beer is nice too.

We go for lunch on a Sunday and have been visiting for a long time. It is always possible to turn up and get a table without booking on Sunday. if you want to go on a weekday night you will need to book and it will be busy. Everything is clearly marked so you know when you order its level of spiciness. Everything is delicious and freshly made.

We were visiting Winchester for the first time and came across this restaurant, we are so glad that we did! The menu was really good, it has all the usual options plus lots of unique speciality choices - we asked the waiter for some typical Nepalese recommendations and we were not disappointed!! It was delicious, fresh and the waiter checked with us on spice levels to make sure it suited. Thoroughly recommended!

Enjoyed the food and general atmosphere. Staff pleasant and attentive. Menu interesting and varies from other Indian restaurants we have used.

Yet again we had a lovely meal, served sizzling hot. We tried Nepalese dishes alongside classic Indian restaurant curries and enjoyed them all. The king prawn dishes were a particular hit (see photo). Service was impeccable and the ambiance calm and relaxed. Great evening out.

Dont go! We each had the £29.95 Chefs Set Dinner which we thought would show off what this restaurant could do. We waited and waited and waited ..for 1hour 20 mins and it really was not worth waiting for. Chicken chunks were served almost cold (in a hot dish )and drowned in sauce ;the Goan fish curry was tilapia which is a SE Asian river fish not found “fresh” ( as claimed) in Southampton Water; and again invisible in a sea of sauce . The lamb dish was tiny baby chops overcooked and swamped in yet another sauce. Rice nice. Nan bread very nice . The shared starter plate was also tasty but these were small compensations for the other major failings . When we asked about the puddings listed as part of our Set Dinner we were told there was none and that something would be removed from the bill( which it was) but this is no way to run a restaurant !

Had a fantastic meal here the starter of garlic prawns was the best I’ve ever had . Wine was good too and reasonable price . This is a fantastic restaurant we will definitely return

Just eaten for first time here - the service was very attentive and the menu very varied. Our choice didn't disappoint- very flavoursome and unusual dishes (Nepalese goat curry) as well as usual Indian dishes.loved the decor and ambience too - very Nepalese.

Excellent food cooked by the Dad -Shegam Ghambole - (sorry if I spelt it wrong !!) . Good menu, absolutely delicious. Very friendly staff. Excellent Covid protection methods. Thank you Chancellor for the money off - appreciated. The restaurant was packed (Covid compliant). The chef's (owner) son was very smiley and friendly. So appreciative that we enjoyed the food and told him so.

Just love this place! Easily the best Indian / Nepalese food I've tasted. I had lamb balti which was so tasty, and everything seemed very fresh and well cooked. Good range of vegetarian dishes too. Service was friendly, efficient, and attentive yet still relaxed. Highly recommend this restaurant and will visit again when next in Winchester.

So exciting to see taste of gurkha open! Lovely new nepalise decor but ... there was nothing that prepared us for a draft pint followed by the most AWESOME curry! The food was staggeringly good - better than ever (or is it because we haven’t had a sit in for 4 months?) What was so special was how safe it is - really thoughtful so everything felt covid safe; good hygiene measures, staff with masks and gloves but still the friendly feel.We are so impressed and really hope we can support such brilliant local business!!

Great takeaway during lockdown. Ordering was easy online and instantly got confirmation by email and SMS with estimated time. Food was brilliant - lamb katmandu and Chicken Riffle were excellent as was the cauliflower bhaji. Dhanyabād!

A lovely meal delivered for the four of us last night. Everyone very satisfied with our first Taste of Gurkha, tasty, generous portions. Meat and vegetarian dishes all delicious. We,ll certainly be ordering take-away again and look forward to celebrating end of lockdown with a visit.

Have been here a few times before, and had always had excellent food and good service. 4 of us went last night, it took 20 minutes to get some poppadoms, and we actually left after one and three quarter hours still having not seen any food. The place was rammed which is great for the business, but I would politely suggest that the ratio of 6 staff to 2 chefs could be reversed. I hope these guys stay around for a long time as it's great, just PLEASE sort the staffing out.

First time we tried a curry from.here was using the order online and collect service. The website is very easy to use with clear and concise instructions, they even email or sms you when it's being prepared so that you can time your journey to get it. Both of the meals we ordered were of an excellent standard and we were that impressed we visited the restaurant the next night with my son and dined in, once again excellent service and food..... oh and some knockout beers, try the Gurkha beer. I would highly recommend eating here.

We were able to have lunch even though the place was supposedly closed after 1400. From the pappadums, the nans, a selection of starters to the curries, the various chicken dishes and the king prawns - they all gave us fantastic flavours. The service was impeccable and it was a lunch to recommend.

This was a great find for us. I have not eaten Nepalese food before but this was an amazing first. The staff were so very friendly and happy to go into details of the dishes. The meal was so good all empty plates, a first for us. We shall be visiting here on our next visit to Winchester.A very lovely atmosphere and so well piced.

The Taste of Gurkas is an excellent, family-run restaurant. There are many "Indian" restaurants in Winchester, but the food and service here is first-class. We will definitely visit again when in the area - authentic, tasty food, very well prepared

Ordered the set meal for 2, was then informed that it included only a selection of the stated dishes - absolutely not what the menu indicated and not what I expected. I can only think that the staff wanted us out ASAP so that thay could concentrate on the large Christmas parties that seemed to dominate the rest of the restaurant. Tried explaining my interpretation but the waiter was not listening.

We haven’t eaten here for 2 years as we were so disappointed on that occasion. We realised it has changed hands, tried a takeaway this evening and it was delicious. Three excellent curries, I would highly recommend.

Taste of Gurka or Indian Fusion have produced the best Dhansaks in Hampshire for the last year since almost to the day Ravi and family took over. Suddenly though, no one's taking the phone and recent to this a rather damning review of louts/yobs threatening customers. Hope you guys are OK and come back from this. Indian Fusion changed hands last year and the new crew have really hit the ground with their feet running. Well OK, the name change is dragging on but it's changing to 'Taste of Gurka' shortly when Ravi gets his act together. I've used IF since the new owners took over - The new chef excels at my favourite dish - Chicken Dansak and my daughter is equally pleased with her favourite 'butter chicken'. The Dansak hits the mark with just the right heat, plenty of lentils and a great mix of flavours. The Onion bhajees are just right with that fine balance between too soft and too crisp. There's a huge amount of parking here so whether you're nipping in for a takeaway or staying for a meal you're assured a parking spot. I was taken ill this year and no driving for a few months so for the first time I've been using IF's delivery service and am very impressed. Delivery time is extremely prompt (probably beats me popping there to collect but that's probably my fault as I do enjoy a pint and a chat whilst I wait). The food has always been piping hot as well so clearly it's out for delivery as soon as it's ready, service faultless. I'm looking forward to my recovery so I can pop in for my regular takeaway. I waited 1.5 hours for meal. The meal had an order missing which I called to order a garlic chilli chicken and it was confirmed. When my food was delivered I realised this was missing and called back. They said they would deliver for free and not charge for this item but we’re not at all apologetic and seemed so laidback and casual about the error.

Arrival at Indian Fusion was a little confusing, as the sign on the side of the building says ‘Gurkha”. But from that point on, the experience was superb.

Hard to find but plenty of parking once we arrived.

Very happy with our evening meal. We have often driven past the restaurant but this was our first visit.

After reading so many l local good reviews I tried a takeaway curry . The service a staff are excellent the place is lovely ,The chicken in the curry was way over cooked, very hard and unpalatable, the actual sauce was lovely.The booking in line system needs a bit of tweaking as there is not a place to say a time to collect , it’s geared to ordering and getting in say 30 mins, so ore ordering is not easy.

Had a great meal there on Monday. Decor was fantastic and modern. Food was out of this world and at a good price too. Beer flowed well. The staff where welcoming and friendly, just how a restaurant should be. I shall go there again when I'm in your area.

I was not sure where to eat tonight and i had passed Indian Fusion on a number of occasions and often wondered what it would be like and what a wonderful surprise from the very friendly welcome by 2 of the young owners to a very reasonable priced meal which was of a brilliant standard. I will definitely be making this my local restaurant and wish the owners the best of luck although if they carry on the high service standards and quality food on offer they will not need any luck.

Great food, attentive service - overall a lovely evening! Had lamb shanks - delicious - beautifully tender meat and lots of it. Peshari naan was beautifully soft and full of flavour! We’ll be back!

We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend... We were not disappointed. We opted for two starters and two curries with rice. The portions were generous and the food was cooked to perfection. The lamb bhujon is probably one of the nicest curries I've had in a very long time and although the chicken vindaloo wasn't the spiciest, it made up for it in flavour.

Just had a meal with my partner after hearing great reviews of this restaurant. They certainly didn’t disappoint. Friendly service when booking a table over the phone, on arrival and throughout the evening.

Just come back from our sixth visit to the Indian Fusion and wanted to share a highly enjoyable experience. Once again, the food was excellent and the guys who work there not only efficient, but also extremely friendly and obliging. They are willing to adapt the menu to suit your needs and can offer some very well informed advice. Another bonus is that there is plenty of on-site parking. We will be back again soon!

After a long drive, we were in the mood for a good meal, so we decided t o try the Indian Fusion, which we had spotted on the way to our hotel. We were greeted by some very friendly staff and shown to our tables. The owner made us feel very welcome and sorted us out with drinks immediately, whilst spoiling the kids, which is always a good start to an evening out. The restaurant itself is very pleasant with quite a quirky feel and a nice atmosphere. The waiters (the owners sons) explained that the place had re-opened two months ago, so they were currently looking at a new menu, but the food we ate from the existing menu was very good with my Father-in-Law declaring that it was the best balti he had ever eaten; high praise indeed, as I don't think I've ever heard anything past a "hmmm, it's alright" from him before. I hope the new owners are able to take the restaurant to the next level without changing the things that make it feel so special and I'm looking forward to visiting again soon with the family for some of their lovely food.

Very welcoming on our arrival. Food was delicious and obviously the chef knows what he’s doing. The two brothers who have just taken over we’re very friendly and gave us fabulous service. Would recommend and will visit again when possible.

Visited here as a group of 4 on. Tue evening. Nicely decorated and modern looking. Friendly staff. There was a cocktail menu so we ordered two Margaritas. Simple cocktail...only three ingredients...but took a while to make so we waited. We ordered two plates of the mixed starter platter....only one arrived...had to wait again for second plate. We then had two main meals served but guess what....further waiting for two birianis to arrive. Overall, food was tasty but having meals arrive all together for a group of 4 people should not be difficult. This spoiled the evening. I hope that this service can be improved as the food is good.

As Indian restaurants go this is up there as a favourite. Went here as was meeting up with a friend. They take tastecard so that was a bonus. The cocktail was nice that I had and the curry was very tasty. The restaurant has changed layout a bit since I was last there. It seems more cosier now and was nice and relaxing. Will definitely be back sooner rather than later. The staff were super friendly and polite.

We enjoyed India Fusion's Sunday buffet and was impressed by the waiting staff who were very friendly and helpful. The buffet was good, but it could do with extra vegetarian options and the starters could have been topped up a bit more when they are going low. I shall be coming back as the food was of high quality.

...Because one could have seen the eagerness and friendliness on the faces of the two young men who own the place and want patrons to have an enjoyable meal. Who admit to never running a restaurant but have still jumped right in. You can only wish these two young men the best of luck with their venture.

After reading all the great reviews we thought we would give it a try, how refreshing to be greeted by two young men that are friendly and very eager to please, lovely clean restaurant with a great vibe, starters were fresh and a good size we had the garlic king prawns and onion Bhaji very tasty, for mains we had the chicken madras lovely cooked chicken with a nice kick and very fresh .

Starters were lovely very well enjoyed I had the chicken passanda for main chicken was lovely but sauce was a bit thin so lost the flavour made me abit ill at the table so in the end didn’t finish it my partner had chicken masala and enjoyed that so 8/10

What a find this lovely Indian restaurant is! From the friendly warm welcome, the attentive service to the beautifully cooked food it was absolutely perfect. The staff are doing a brilliant job of making this what I’m sure will become known as the best Indian restaurant for miles around. A perfect choice for our 13 year old’s birthday meal. We’ll definitely be back to try the Sunday buffet coming soon.
