Not just your usual tea rooms, this marvellous little cafe produces the most exquisitely delicious cakes and treats in the beautiful village of Uffington. You will be greeted with the warmest smiles and spoilt with such a delightful choice of cakes. Our children want to visit every weekend! They have a box of toys to keep the children entertained. Superb value for money.

Friendly, cosy and welcoming, and a great stopping off point on your way to or from the nearby White Horse Hill. We stopped off for some drinks and a snack. We tried a sausage roll and some sticky toffee pudding - everything we had was very tasty. Do be aware that (as with lots of country pubs) the kitchen shuts in the afternoon, after lunch finishes until dinner starts. Make sure to check the times if you'd like to try some of their lovely traditional food, sandwiches or deserts. Otherwise, the drinks are good too!

We enjoyed a really excellent evening in this super establishment this evening to celebrate my wife's birthday. From the very warm and friendly welcome through excellent food and drink to leaving with a pleasant do come back again soon, this was an excellent evening. Well done the team at the Sparsholt Star, we will be back.

The starters were amazing, if you like garlic, defo get the garlic prawn, very garlicky! My partner got the steak and he enjoyed it, the peppercorn sauce was slightly salty we think. I ordered the confit duck leg and sadly some part of the meat was quite dry which I couldn’t chew it, a bit disappointed on it, cuz I was looking forward to it. We shared the cheesecake at the end, not bad, better to share, cuz I don’t think I could finish it myself cuz it’s a bit heavy, tastes good tho. Extra point is I like the atmosphere there, very cozy and lovely pub. I’d go back again for drinks only maybe

We are great fans of the Woodspeen Restaurant so we naturally compare a visit to any sister restaurant with the experience at the Woodspeen whether it be food, service or general enjoyment factor. This is our 2nd visit as we last visited before the name change and just after it had been bought by the Woodspeen owners. last time we were underwhelmed but put it down to teething troubles. This time we were simply disappointed and won't be returning. The pub/hotel itself is nicely done out but, at lunchtime, with only one other table being occupied, the atmosphere was distinctly lacking. When you arrive at the Woodspeen there is someone to welcome you with a smiling face. Luckily the 2 friends we were having lunch with were already on their aperitif in the lounge area so the lack of a welcome was not a problem. What shocked us next was that when we came to order, choosing the set lunch menu, we were told that no vegetables were included so we had to order sides which were charged at an extra £5 per head. Therefore instead of paying £24 per head for 2 courses we ended up paying over £30 per head, somewhere akin to the prices at the Woodspeen. I don't mind the cost but I do mind the "hidden" extras. The staff, when they were in evidence (which was not very often), were not especially friendly and clearly were not enjoying their job. In addition the food was distinctly mediocre, despite having the same Executive Chef as the Woodspeen which is usually superb! Perhaps I am wrong in assuming that the Sparsholt is catering to the same market as the Woodspeen. If they are then they have got things badly wrong, especially their staff attitude. I know that the Boxford, their other restaurant, is catering for a different market and that is fine. That works very well but for lunch I suggest you think twice before booking the Sparsholt. there is much better around!!

We had dinner when staying at the pub, and everything was first rate. The ambience is warm and inviting, the staff are welcoming and attentive, and the food is delicious. We both had the special, venison cottage pie, and it was just the right thing for a chilly, rainy evening. This is a proper pub!

After seeing The Tea Pot on FB, being a local, thought we would pop in for scones an coffee. Placed our order an due to not being too warm weather wise, sat indoors. Firstly, the table was dirty from previous guests! (It was not busy at time of visiting). The scone I am sorry to say was not a scone! It was all crumbly! an flat in appearance! I am sure it has been frozen prior an warmed! The coffee was not hot but luke warm! Very disappointing, as mentioned, being a local I would most definitely have returned.
