Not just your usual tea rooms, this marvellous little cafe produces the most exquisitely delicious cakes and treats in the beautiful village of Uffington. You will be greeted with the warmest smiles and spoilt with such a delightful choice of cakes. Our children want to visit every weekend! They have a box of toys to keep the children entertained. Superb value for money.

Friendly, cosy and welcoming, and a great stopping off point on your way to or from the nearby White Horse Hill. We stopped off for some drinks and a snack. We tried a sausage roll and some sticky toffee pudding - everything we had was very tasty. Do be aware that (as with lots of country pubs) the kitchen shuts in the afternoon, after lunch finishes until dinner starts. Make sure to check the times if you'd like to try some of their lovely traditional food, sandwiches or deserts. Otherwise, the drinks are good too!

If I could rate a minus 5 then I would! Disgusting behaviour from bar manager. Poor planning and lack of empathy. Everything too much trouble. Shocking. We ended up being an inconvenience when the bar manager had obviously overbooked. Safely seated, with members of the family had drinks I arrived with my non verbal autistic son. Walking through the pub was intimidating and it was obvious from his face and subsequent actions that the bar manager did not appreciate the neurodivergent customers. We are welcomed with delight and appreciation by other public houses, perhaps it is a lack of training or something more phobic. Dollar over customer service, greed and a lack of empathy for diversity. I explained how the table we were sitting at was out of the way and perfect for my son. I was told that it was 2 tables pushed together so we were taking up room that could be used for another customers comfort. I took my son elsewhere and due to the awful transition was attacked by him on the way home. I hope this public house was able to accommodate everyone else.

We have been coming to the Blowing Stone on a regular basis for a year now since Becky & Russ have run it. The experience is made lovely every time by the staff and the odd time we have food it is always brilliant. Consistently our favourite pub for MILES around!

After getting court short on a Boxing Day outing, we were very impressed at the lovely warm welcome and great pub food. We can recommend the baked Camembert and Ham Egg and chips. The ale is also great, and a final recommendation for the lovely landlady, who made us very welcome on a busy boxing day.

So Disappointing!!! Before I start, I should say we have been regulars at the Sparsholt (even when it was called The Star), however we had not been for approximately six months. We had a restaurant reservation for 19:00hrs for what was my granddaughters 13th birthday treat. We were excited on our arrival, but unfortunately that is where it stopped. We arrived to a virtually empty ( 1 table in use) establishment on a Saturday night, to be greeted by two front of house staff who looked as though they belonged in a local pub. Gone has the smart but casual dress code for the staff. After waiting an age to order our drinks, we then had to ask for the menus, and even then had to ask again to order. There was no ‘table checking’ whatsoever. Whilst we were waiting, another group arrived and went to sit in the restaurant area. When the time came to go to our table, to my astonishment we were asked if we minded sitting in the bar on a table that was just adjacent to us!! The place was virtually empty, we were dressed smartly and we certainly didn’t want a bar meal. The staff were very accommodating and showed us to a table in the main restaurant where there were now two other tables occupied. My granddaughter ordered the prawn starter, which resembled a portion of panco prawns from Iceland, whilst my wife and I had the ham hock. The starters had lost all their wow factor, where very little effort or time was spent on presentation. When the time came to clear the plates, we were even asked to pass our own plates across the table, to save the waitress walking around us. The mains followed, with little improvement. I had the venison pave, consisting of two medallions of venison which turned out to be so tuff I couldn’t eat it, with the whole plate overpowered by the sharpness of red cabbage. My wife and granddaughter had the cod main. As the was no table checking, and not a waiter/waitress to be seen, I ended up not eating my main (was refunded) as the rest of the table had finished their meals. Desserts followed, which were unremarkable. All in all, this was a disappointing evening. We had looked forward to treating our granddaughter but the whole Sparsholt experience has changed. I know times are hard in the hospitality industry but basic service and attention to detail doesn’t cost. We have cancelled our Xmas reservations and unfortunately won’t be returning soon. It’s such a disappointment because this was our destination restaurant (30 minute drive away) as we live in a town full of fast food chain eateries.

After seeing The Tea Pot on FB, being a local, thought we would pop in for scones an coffee. Placed our order an due to not being too warm weather wise, sat indoors. Firstly, the table was dirty from previous guests! (It was not busy at time of visiting). The scone I am sorry to say was not a scone! It was all crumbly! an flat in appearance! I am sure it has been frozen prior an warmed! The coffee was not hot but luke warm! Very disappointing, as mentioned, being a local I would most definitely have returned.
