We stayed at The Fox and Hounds for three nights and were delighted by the accommodation! The accommodation is outside and the rooms are clean, spacious and modern. They have kettle and tea/coffee making facilities as well as a fridge. I loved the room! It suited us with our two dogs. It was a great location to walk and explore. We loved walking 1.2 miles in the evening for dinner at the White Horse in Woolstone (take a torch as there’s no pavement but a quiet road). We would then come back for drinks at the Fox & Hounds with Max serving and dishing humour and sarcasm 🤣. The breakfast was pleasant but needed to be preordered and there needed to be music as it was just a silent conservatory. We had dinner one night too and although the menu was basic it was utterly delicious and the fish and chips are highly recommended! Aga the manager was very accommodating in offering me gluten free options for the evening meal. The entire cooked breakfast could be offered as gluten free too!

Staying in the village of Uffington for a week so we gave the village pub a try for dinner. The menu isn’t the most extensive but is simple pub food which was fine. A friend had recently moved to the area and myself and another friend were visiting for the weekend. After a walk up to The White Horse we looked for somewhere to have a bite to eat, this lovely pub looked like it ticked all the boxes. It was certainly busy when we arrived, which is always a good sign. We enjoyed salmon and dill linguine, mushroom and courgette linguine and fish and chips. We enjoyed all meals and there wasn’t a scrap of food left on the plates. The portions were generous so we really did it justice. Washed down by a very palatable glass of wine. The service was good, friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend a visit.

Warm and welcoming after a walk up on the Ridgeway. Fantastic vegetarian roast (called ‘All the Veg’ and this is written by a vegetarian who isn’t keen on vegetables). Huge and very nice Yorkshire pudding. Only thing I would change is that there were not even scraps for me to buy for my dog, who was hungry after her long walk too. Luckily I had a bit of kibble with me. Such a great lunch. Will definitely be back.

Three of us recently had a 3 night stay at this excellent pub with rooms. There are four accommodation rooms that have been built at the rear of the pub. The rooms are spotlessly clean and have everything that you need, including toiletries and tv. The bathrooms are wet rooms which makes them suitable for all ages and the showers wonderful - good water pressure and temperature controls. The breakfast is freshly cooked, you pre-order on arrival, and plentiful. Evening meals are excellent with generous portions but be aware that no food is served on Monday evenings. However there is a pub in the next village that serves on Mondays but the food at the Fox and Hounds is better. I don't eat cream but the chef was happy to make me a tomato based sauce instead of a cream based one when I wanted the seafood pasta. Staff are friendly and efficient and the pub is obviously popular with the locals. There is a car park at the rear of the premises. We plan to stay here again in the future when we return to the area. Thank you Fox and Hounds for a very pleasant stay.

Poor food. Had trout off the specials boards. Small piece of trout and hardly anything else on the plate and was still hungry afterwards. One of the party had Cumberland sausages. They were very slimy and unappetising. Apple pie was ordered. Small dry piece of pie with no custard or ice cream. It was only when the woman there saw the pie on the plate that she asked if he wanted custard with it, which actually arrived 5 minutes later after the pie was served. The waitress didn't quite understand what was said and initially brought apple drink (which she then said was free because she had made a mistake) instead of apple pie. Been there before a few times but doubt if we would go back. The burgers were poor and chewy. Food not good. Appalling value for money.

Chose roast lamb, and it was beautifully lean, not at all fatty as lamb can sometimes be. The yorkshire pudding was enormous and the roasties were cooked perfectly - crispy outside but lovely and soft and fluffy inside. The gravy was from the roasting juices, and not packet made. The veg was roast root veg - turnips, carrots, celeriac, and couple of bits of calabrese. Far more food than I could manage but my dog (who was kindly allowed to sit by me in the restaurant) was happy to help out.

We had been out for the whole day,and we were wondering where to go that was local, and have something the whole family would enjoy to eat.Well we decided to visit The Fox and Hounds Pub in Uffington. As we arrived ,we ordered our drinks and found a table in the conservatory with a stunning view. The staff for the whole night could not be faulted by bringing us refills on drinks, to attending to our every request, and to then bring us, what only can be described as the best meal I've had in ages, two of had the Lamb, and one had the Swordfish.Delicious!!We then made room for dessert, and as you can see by the picture it was like a work of art, which I polished off every last bit (see picture below ).In summary ,this pub may not get the pasting trade, but please read this review and go visit The Fox and Hounds Pub in Uffington (see picture below) ,you will not be disappointed. We were certainly not.

We had Sunday lunch (reviewed separately) with relatives who live locally and then stayed for B & B. All the staff were friendly and helpful.Room 3 is one of two added last year I believe and is excellent. Beautiful big clean bed and room to move about the room. Perfect layout with simple tasteful decor and space for our belongings. Fantastic shower room with walk-in, wet room style shower that didn't flood the whole room! If I had one grumble (hence 4 stars) it was the loud music in the bar that would have driven us mad had we had an evening meal or wanted to sit and drink in the bar.It seemed a young persons pub and of course everyone has different opinions to noise levels. We have nothing against young people, we were once young, a long time ago!Breakfast (usually charged separately) was pre-ordered the night before and exactly as we had asked. Nicely cooked, good quality ingredients and we were not charged, having it included in our room rate. Thank you.

Thursday night, no booking required. Good atmosphere, choice of conservatory or a snug seat in the bar area. Also outdoor seating for the summer. Only one person behind the bar who did everything front of house, took orders, served drinks and food, good on him. God help him if busy. Shared Camembert as starter, good bread and chutney. Meaty Venison Pie to follow with smooth mash, could shelve the fly away puff pastry a nice shortcrust would have been nicer. No room for pud due to generous portions. Had a tour of accommodation, very high end but nicely detached from pub. Even better that dogs welcome, hefty additional cost but apparently it covers the cost of a deep clean.

First time of visiting this pub, not an overly large car park but managed to get a space. Menu is a little limited, a lot of places now don't seem to cater for light bites which is a shame as some people just want a small meal. Other than that the food was lovely and the staff were friendly.

We called earlier in the day to book a table for 6 plus 2 dogs! The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the dining area within the Conservatory was lovely, clean and welcoming. The service was very efficient and the starters were absolutely lovely (special mention to the Salt and Pepper Squid). The main meals were delicious and the choice between traditional Sunday lunch and regular pub grub went down very well. All in all we had a lovely lunch and will return again soon.

First visit to this pub. Having planned a walk on White Horse hill on what must have been the coldest day of the year we did try to book in advance but kept getting an engaged tone. Decided to just walk in and hope for a table and very pleased we did.Excellent roast lunches - both the beef and lamb were good and the vegetables were lovely and fresh and plentiful. Puddings a bit expensive but big portions which were beautifully presented.Service fast and extremely friendly. Will certainly come again...when the weather's better.

Great little hotel/pub in super location near white horse hill.We had the evening hear chatting to locals and the very friendly bar staff who were very helpful and engaging. The rooms were spacious, clean, well equipped and modern. Good value rooms, breakfast was good but was an extra on th drool rate. Consisted of cereal choice, tea/coffee, and full English, quality produce used. The Ale is typically good improved by the friendly staff. A thoroughly enjoyable staff and would definitely return. Thanks for a great night.!shame about the lack of Black pudding! Despite efforts to locate some!!

Pleased to see the pub has had some attention given its the only one in what is a lovely village but would still like to see more attention to the food offer. Roast Potatoes much in the news this morning could be better.

Dropped in for a Sunday lunch. Nice menu and choice of 3 roasts. Good portion size and well presented. Tasted great too. Nice small country style pub with a couple of wood burning fires which makes it cosy. Staff all very pleasant.

Went here for a wake so it's hard to rate it fairly. The 'cold collation' was good as was my cherry rum.

Went here for a funeral: the food provided was delicious, though possibly not great if you needed to eat gluten free. Attentive staff and good atmosphere - on the day we were there, there was lots of music from the 80s and 90s.
