I ordered a very small order, as I normally order with my partner but he was away. - best food I have ever eaten. Hamza and the team are so good! I did not make up the minimum delivery charge, but they still delivered it to me as I have been a regular customer. 5 stars from me! Great place.

The hotel we were staying in recommended the restaurant so we followed their advice and booked a table. What a massive disappointment. The “manager” was so rude and unwelcoming, pointing at a few tables telling us to sit where we wanted. He then told us it was a shortened menu, without explaining what that meant. After enquiring he said it was just there starters, three mains and three desserts. My husband and I took some time to consider if we wanted to stay, but with limited knowledge of Rye we decided to try to make the most of the evening. The burgers we ordered were dry and not cooked the way we had requested. Service was so poor and when the bill came, a 12.5% service charge had been added, and the 10% discount code we had from our hotel and been ignored. I challenged these issues and a revised bill (about £28 less) was provided. We will visit lovely Rye again but absolutely not go to the restaurant again.

We had been in Battle for a visit to Battle Castle and on the way home we popped by Camber Sands as the sun was shining, at this point we were really hungry so went to the Marina Cafe, we got Cheesy Chips for £5.45, Hot Dog and Chips for £11, Cheeseburger and Chips for £11 and Chicken Burger and Chips £10.50, 3 Cokes and an Oasis taking the total to £46.50. Our food was brought out, the cheesy Chips had a sprinkle of cheese, the burger was a cheap frozen burger with the tiniest cheese slice on it that it was barely there, my daughter said the chicken burger was dry and chewy and the chips were tasteless and cheap, so disappointed to be honest, felt completely ripped off, my partner went and asked for onions on his hot dog and they said they don't really do onions anymore as no one really wants them! And when I asked for some mayonnaise, was told there was two on the tray! Two poxy mayonnaise sachets, honestly be warned not only was tje food way overpriced but it was tasteless cheap food, we also heard other customers complaining about the food they had what they had been charged, I don't mind paying out money to eat out and get nice food, this food was like cheap basics you would buy in the supermarket, being charged at high prices

This is the second time I have visited The George for a drink since it reopened. Both times have been disappointing. The first time, I visited with a group of friends and we ordered Mojitos. I firstly had to wait a significant amount of time to be acknowledged and served, and when I was, the member of the bar staff told me they were out of mint and advised us to go elsewhere as they were short of staff! The second visit, my partner and I ordered a glass of prosecco and a glass of wine. They were both on tap! The woman serving overfilled the Prosecco glass so the drink cascaded down the sides of the glass, and then handed it to me wet. Weatherspoons could do a better job and at a third of the price! It was a very cold evening and we were surprised that the fire in the bar was not lit. However! Along came a member of staff with fire lighting equipment. The table in front of the fire was occupied with a party of people trying to enjoy a chat and drink. The member of staff proceeded to attempt to light the fire. He went away with no fire lit, returned to check on it and disappeared eventually with an unlit fire. This is all such a shame. It's a beautiful building with so much to offer after everything that has happened. But the staff need to pull their socks up to guarantee returning trade.
