What an absolute gem of a place, with lovely ladies running it. High standard of food and service, so much is handmade there. They were so busy and we were happy to wait not in a rush. This appears to be an absolute must for the local community you could tell so many were regulars. We were on a walk leaving the car at a local garage and popped in but we will be back. Absolutely charming place.

Went here yesterday for lunch whilst working round the corner. Food was exactly how it should be; fish already cooked and in the oven to reduce the grease, lovely batter, banging chips, and great curry sauce. Wish this was closer to home as it puts any chippy near me to shame. Will definitely have another lunch from here before my work nearby is finished.

I've been coming here a few times whilst moving here. And several times we have found short black hair and even a phlegm texture on the sausage! Then I spoke to the boss I noticed he wasn't washing his hands and the back was filthy. He was rude and accused my father (who is 87) of lying and told us to f**k off! Ruined our experience and would recommend people to eat someplace else!

We went as a family for breakfast at the Alverbank. The menu promises a lot but sadly we felt very underwhelmed by the time we had finished. I will start with a positive. My daughter had the Nutella pancakes which she really enjoyed. The portion size was good and was presented well. My wife had the Eggs Benedict. This is where things started to go wrong. She asked for her poached eggs to be runny. When this arrived, one of the eggs was solid and the other only slightly runny. The eggs also had a very strong vinegar taste, which suggests they did not allow the eggs to drain off effectively. I had the eggs Royale. The salmon was good, however my eggs also had a strong vinegar taste. At no point was a checkback made by the waitress after the food was delivered, therefore we were unable to raise an issue. Drinks - my wife thought the coffee was very good, however my orange juice was most definetely from a carton, and not a good quality one at that. I would have expected fresh orange juice based upon the experience they are trying to portray and the price they charged. Service - the team were friendly enough, but service was very slow. We were the only people in the restaurant area but breakfast took a long time to come out, and had to wait a fair amount of time after we had finished our meal to request the bill. Setting - the venue is in a lovely location and has fantastic views over the solent, but is let down by some basic things. Some of the decor is looking tired, and the window we were sat by was covered in cobwebs and dead flies. Overall a disappointing experience - when you pay over £50 for breakfast for 3 people, i would expect more than what was delivered.

Food was cold and chips were dry and very hard. Part of my order was also missing which I paid for. Never eating from here again

Stopped here for breakfast. Premises looking tired, but we’ll give benefit of the doubt. I’m sure it’s been a busy summer. Food was tasty, however we asked for a vegetarian breakfast and were informed all meat items are replaced with Hash Browns. We like hash browns, but not that much. It also makes it a very expensive breakfast in relation to what you will recieve. The meat eater ordered a bacon bap with an additional sausage for £1.50. The sausage was tasty, however it can only be described as a large cocktail sausage; definitely NOT good value for money. Very tasty, but not good value for money.
