Often meet there with friends and colleagues and it seemed logical to have my Dad's birthday celebration there. Always been delighted by the staff and quality of food. There was a bit of an issue with Dad so we had to cancel and the genuine empathy and sincerity by the owner, Sue, was heart warming. Thank you so much and you will always be our go-to venue for everything in the future.

Honest Review. Used to come here a lot and won’t again here’s why. The basics have been forgotten. I’ve seen it over the months. Table of 5 1) Given ketchup and Mustard - both empty 2) It was quiet, no menus so we had to ask and told to go get them. 3) Asked if we wanted water, yes please. 3 glasses for 5 people to share. Had to endure the embarrassment asking for 5 in total after it was not clicking. 4) Asked for our food and drinks in good time that’s great. The food arrived but no drinks in sight after we have already eaten half the food. No one to ask. Staff looking busy in a quiet room. 5) Simple coffees followed by 2 oranges juices missing. Asked for them, didn’t arrive. Asked again they finally arrived at the end of eating. 6) Ordered toast with butter and marmite. No marmite. 😂 lack of butter to make up for that. 7) No sugar or spoon for the cup of tea. Had to ask. 8) Staff were friendly until we asked for the bill after all their mess ups. Was told: We done? Thankfully our journey here came to an end and we had got out. So overall, the site isn’t deserving of the service that is given. There are far better places to eat locally however you won’t get the sitting areas this place provides. A very unsatisfying visit, the front of house service has plummeted. A real lack of common sense when it comes to table service. Simple necessities missing.

I came here for a quick lunch after a beach walk. However, we were felt disappointed. Straight away, we were greeted with great customer service. The women we spoke to were all friendly and happy. As we sat down we ordered our food. I had the all day brunch. It came out looking miserable and dry as it could be. The 2 rashes of bacon, overly chewy, dry, overcooked and ludicrously salty. The sausage was overcooked and dry, beans congealed together and chips were small and tasteless. My partner had the surfers paradise (?) which looked very unappealing. Dry, paper thin steak stacked with a mountain of tiny prawns resulted in disappointment and a stomach ache! The toilets were unspeakably dirty also, however this is more down to the customers. Overall, I shalt be coming back as the food was very poor. It’s a shame really, as the customer service was pretty good. I imagine it’s more of buying cheap supplies rather than a kitchen staff issue!

Went into the cafe and was told to find a seat and someone would take my order soon. A few mins later and our order of Tea, coffe, Pepsi and a lemonade was taken. We received the tea and coffe quite quickly but then after 10 mins we asked about the cold drinks to be told they come from the bar in the other room ( it was a can of Pepsi and a glass of lemonade) should that really take 15 mins to sort out. Meanwhile I asked for our food order to be taken - that never happened as it had been so long we gave up and paid for the drinks and walked out. The say the food is lovely there, I wouldn’t know I waited 30 mins and after asking if my order could be taken still never was. Goodness know once placing an order for food how long it would take to arrive at our table. Don’t think I’ll be going back !!

Visiting family in area and like to stop here for lunch gorgeous views. The outside marque was closed for private even so had to sit inside which was noisy but warm. Had beef chilli & rice. Big pieces of beef slow cooked not enough beans and no chilli spice at all. Must do a dog menu as a miniature poodle on next table had a pupaccino then a sausage. So cute, thought I spoilt my dog!!! Worth a visit just to see that.

We went to eat in the cafe, went through the front door, was not greeted by anyone, so we sat ourselves. A waitress walked past us and told us to grab our own menus! My partner went to do so and another waitress told him they bring them over! We then overheard the staff complaining about us and the fact we had sat ourselves, it needs to be clearer that you need to wait to be served. Anyway looked at the menus and the prices were quite expensive, more than pub prices. I don’t mind paying for quality, but having seen some dishes come out and the portion sizes, we did not think this was value for money. We got up and left and went elsewhere. Also felt very cramped in there, tables very close together. Very disappointed

I'm so angry and disappointed by my experience here again. The first time I visited I ordered pancakes and maple syrup, which was served with golden syrup. When we complained we they offered no alternative or apology. I decided to go back today after a long gap and ordered their baked eggs. Sounded lovely. Baked eggs in a spicey tomato sauce with crispy potatoes, sourdough toast and fresh coriander and chilli. Yum! But in reality I got a chopped up sausage in tinned tomatoes with what I think was a very soggy hash brown mashed on top. The toast wasn't even sourdough. There wasn't any chilli or corriander any where to be seen and finally the biggest insult of all is it was topped with an over cooked FRIED egg. The name of the bloomin' dish is BAKED EGGS! I will not be darkening their doorway again. I feel sorry for the young staff they employ that obviously have had little training. I complained again today and they offered no apology or solution. The people who run it are obviously tryibg to increase profits by substituting what's advertising on the menu for cheaper products and paying staff minimum wage. Truly awful.

Today, Sunday, 30th August 2021 my husband and i did our usual walk and visited your cafe as we have done numerous times. Today was different. We arrived at 14.10pm and ordered the following:1 milkshake, 1 cappuccino and one cherry shortbread. The shortbread arrived after 10 minutes, the milkshake followed. After 20 minutes there was no sign of the cappuccino, so we asked the server and she said she would check on it. A second time we had to ask again as nothing was coming our way. We finally received it after 25 minutes. When we decided to leave and I went to the bar area to pay I had expressed my disappointment and the lady that took my payment of £9.40 responded with ' well it is bank holiday weekend'. No apology, nothing. I responded with 'that doesn't justify the poor service' which in return she responded, 'we are in a pandemic you know' and then said to me, 'don't bother coming back then'. Absolutely appalling service. The cafe was in fact half empty. First and foremost we are locals and have never been treated in this way and will certainly never be coming back.

Have eaten here a few times for breakfast and had some good visits and one or two just ok visits. This review is for a visit for what they call FISH FRYDAY! I would call it Forget about Friday! We ordered whitebait (overcooked)Main was two Fish and Chips and when it came, the batter was so over cooked that the batter was so dark and hard. The fish within was very little and for the price (very small) We gave it a chance and started eating, but tasted over cooked as well as looked, so we told the waitress who said she would tell the chef.No one came back to see us and in fact we were simply then just offered the sweet menu!We could have quite easily just refused to pay but assumed the cafe would take up this responsibility and deduct the food from the bill, of which they didn't and charged us full price...knowing we were unhappy and in fact left 2/3 of our meals. We got home and emailed the company with a similar email to this and received no reply back! very poor indeed I must add.We have our own rules when eating out that if a cafe/restaurant messes up in any way that we give them one more chance.... But in this case to further ignore our email was their second chance so will not now ever return. It is a shame for them as we would have visited 1-2 times a week and even taken friends, but not now, so for the sake of not rectifying the problem have now lost many more sales for the future! An establishment as this cannot assume to produce such rubbish is acceptable and to further expect a customer to pay for it also is extremely wrong! Lessons to learn, but the hard way it seems

Not sure what’s happened to Bayside as the experience and food we had recently was far from what we have experienced on past visits. The service to get our order was slow and and it wasn’t busy from what we have seen before. Then the order when delivered was incorrect and to make matters worse the cooked breakfast was awful, the bacon evidently had been sat under a hot lamp for a while as it was virtually inedible it was that hard and the chips cold. I should have called the waitress over to complain but we were in a hurry and after the error with the order in the first place and slow service we didn’t feel we could wait any longerIt’s a shame because we as a family are up for supporting local businesses to help them get back on their feet but not at our expense. We decided rather than holidaying in Cornwall, the Lakes or Scotland we would stay relatively local and so we had our family holiday on the Isle of Wight and what a stark contrast most of the eateries over there offer in terms of quality and customer experience than that of what we experienced at the Bayside. It might have just been a bad day in the kitchen and front of house for the team at The Bayside and we’ll just have to leave it at that

We were regulars at the Bayside Cabin prior to covid. Sadly no longer. They have a new chef and a new menu, and it is due to the menu changes that we will no longer be regulars, like many of our friends who used the Bayside Cabin regularly who will no longer go as the menu does not cater to their tastes. The staff are brilliant and working their socks off in sometimes difficult circumstances, so on the odd occasion may need to be cut a bit of slack (referring to some unkind reviews). This is a lovely place to go, but the lunchtime menu now reads more like the specials board, with main plates starting at £12. The meals are excellent, and what I would normally look as an evening meal out. When you want a smaller meal at lunchtime, the menu is very limited. (Breakfast menu is excellent.)There are no salads or baked potatoes on the lunch time menu - this is a big challenge especially for customers watching what they eat.My favourite dish of surfers paradise is also no longer available. This was the griddled sandwich steak and prawns in garlic and chilli sauce, usually in a baguette, which could be swapped for salad. If you want a pub style well cooked and presented special meal at lunchtime, you will be very happy.Just adding salads and baked potatoes (even if I can't get my surfers paradise back...) will increase the customer base.

This typifies the customer service I have received on my last 3 visits. The toasted sandwiches were so overdone we barely ate them. You need to read the myriad of bad reviews your customer service receives and re train staff to focus on their customers. The views are lovely and that is the sole reason for visiting.

We sat outside in the shade, in one of the “huts.” I was little surprised there was only one small hand sanitiser that I saw.Lunch was nice. My mother-in-law had the simple salad and skin on fries and we shared a simple salad, skin on fries and chilli calamares. The skin on fries were good. The waitress asked if we wanted onion with our salad, which seemed a little odd to me. I asked for no tomato with our salad and my husband asked for lots of red onion. It came up as requested but very little dressing so we asked for more. It took a while for this to arrive but really made a difference to our enjoyment of the salad. The chilli calamares were very tasty. The waitress was very obliging and found a bowl of water for my mother-in-law’s dog.It was a nice setting for lunch, and we enjoyed looking at the beach. I visited this morning and was so disappointed with the attitude of the manager on shift - everything seemed to be too much trouble. The menu clearly states optional extras can be added to a breakfast. Due to alligies I can’t have the sausages or the beans in the small breakfast so I asked to swap it for an extra piece of bacon and an extra egg instead. Apparently this was far too much trouble and after this the staff were unpleasant to deal with. I asked if we could choose how to have the eggs and I asked for poached eggs and so did my friend - unfortunately hers came fried - the manager offered to make her a new one but said it would have to be charged for because ‘the new girl got confused with all the changes.’ Not fair to blame a new person for a mistake and the problem was not dealt with - the egg should have been replaced free of charge. When I asked for some tomato sauce the manager was rude and trying to rush away from the table. I have messaged them to give them the opportunity to apologise and although they did apologise I was also given loads of excuses - including how the chef can get angry when simple changes are made to a breakfast.

We had Crab Thermidor, it was really tasty (quite rich as it should be), good portion, served with a fresh side salad and well seasoned fries. We also had a side of halloumi fries that came with Cajun mayonnaise, again very yummy with the right amount of chilli kick without overwhelming the dish. Overall the menu appeared varied with “small plate” options, vegan and vegetarian choices too and the cake looked nice but we were too full for pudding! At these times and with being asked to wait to be seated at the door, you need a dedicated greeter to deal with the large queues. We were stood outside for 10 minutes waiting to be seated. And we were first in the queue! Several waitresses passed by with a ‘Be with you in a minute’ but still we waited. And it wasn’t because you were busy, there were three empty tables that I could see. Lack of staff organisation and pleasantries find many customers frustrated and disgruntled including myself and friends!Appreciate we find ourselves in this awful pandemic and it’s wonderful we still manage to take coffee etc in our local restaurants and cafes but if the standards drop any lower are we really missing out all.

After waiting to be seated we were taken to a table outside as requested. We were just ordering drinks and a friendly dark haired waitress soon took our order. We were impressed with her attempt at second sales. Alas that was the last we saw of her. Luckily it was a sunny day so we enjoyed the view whilst waiting for our drinks. After 40 minutes we got the attention of a blond waitress who just said they were busy. We asked her just to check and let us know how much longer we could be expected to wait. Off she went to find out, or so we thought. We waited another 15 minutes during which time no waiting staff entered the garden area dispute other tables also requiring service. We saw the blond girl inside keeping herself busy and it was obvious she had no intention of returning to our table to enlighten us. So after waiting 55 minutes for a tea and a coffeE with no apology for the delay we left. Reading other posts on here and the lack of response by management it is clear this establishment does not deserve the trade. I suggest you take a flask and picnic if you decide to use this cafe, I really don’t think they would notice. This also is not Covid safe as tables and chairs not wiped between customers. Avoid at all costs if you value your time.

Service and food was awful.. took them 20 minutes to seat us despite not being particularly busy. Our food was served without cutlery, condiments and napkins. Nobody came to ask if we were satisfied or if there’s anything else we needed. Our food, the hummus and falafel wrap, for £7.50 each, was literally a tortilla wrap with one small squished falafel and a teaspoon of hummus. The side salad was dried lettuce, tinned corn and one slice of tomato. Absolutely disappointed with the experience.

Arriving mid afternoon in a quiet period only to ignored at the door for some time, finally lead to a table in the garden.Order 2 drinks from a waiter who was very stressed.A young lady delivered the drinks both wrong! She went back and confirmed this was the case. I accepted my drink but my wife asked for her order, another waiter delivered a pot of tea, no extra charge we were told, but can we have a cup to drink it from?Waited and waited no cup, my wife went inside and was given a cup! I had to ask a member of staff to back away as he was in our face without any face covering we never saw any cleaning of the tables.Sadly I have to post this as we have been customers for years.

We stopped for lunch while out and about, big mistake that was!!! First we waited by the sign saying please wait to be seated. Several members of staff walk past totally ignoring us, we should of walked away then. After finally being seated in the garden by the young blonde waitress she said she’d get us a menu, she has no aware of social distancing as several times stood right in between us. She then came back a minute or so later with some meals asking if they were ours. How could they possibly be ours when you have just seated us. She just wondered around with orders the whole time we were there not knowing where she was going with them. We sat for quite a while before our order was taken but other people were ignored and treated the same with the same blonde girl wondering around. She brought us our knifes and forks in a Pepsi cup with serviettes and condiments which was ok but she tipped it all over the table then walked off to another table. As tables weren’t cleaned between people leaving and new ones coming I asked for new ones, she stared blankly at me then tried to take the old pot away but I didn’t trust her not to bring the same ones back. We were asked if we’d like draught coke or bottled, we chose bottled and it was given to us in a plastic bottle but no offer of a glass. Food came and was brought over by a different waitress, some chips had fallen off my husbands plate onto the tray and he was asked if he wanted them as the tray was clean. Obviously he said no but we couldn’t help but laugh as this is just ridiculous. Food was ok but nothing special. Several people got up and walked out as they had been sat there ages and no one had come back to take their orders. Considering we are in a pandemic you’d think they would be extra clean but I guess some things never change. This is not a covid safe place and we will not be returning.

As they have not opted to bring business in with the £10 Boris bonus, we were really disappointed that the Bayside Cabin did not offer a better experience to compensate. The service was SO slow. We had to go up and ask to put in our order, to ask for cutlery and to ask for coffees (and they even got that order wrong). The waiter actively avoided making eye contact until I stood up, waved and yelled ‘yohoo!’. If this is their way to get their business back, I don’t think we will be rushing to return!

With signs outside asking you to wait to be seated we did just that, all the time watching staff walk past not acknowledging us! When we were seated we were promptly forgotten about. There are no signs to explain how to order (btw it’s table service) so twice we went to the bar and on the second time we managed to place an order. Unfortunately the food didn’t do the location justice. It’s a nice place for a drink, with a nice sea view but the food lets it down and despite there being quite a lot of staff, the service was poor. Sorry Bayside Cabin.

This cafe has really good views, with panoramic views. My son and I had a full English breakfast, while the bacon was tasty, the rest (especially the sausages) were rather bland and lacked taste. While I appreciate it can be difficult to social distant in a cafe, this is an area we’re this cafe needs to improve e.g.1) there is a table near the entrance in the middle of main restraint, EVERYONE whom comes in/out of the restaurant can not social distances. We were first given this table, but requested to move, which the staff did move us.2) when the staff moved us to a table towards the side, they did not sterilise the old table before new customers sat there.3) appreciating Covid is spread via water droplets and people are not wearing makes (as it’s a restaurant)... ALL the clean cutlery was right by the main entrance (touching distance) completely exposed to everyone. If Covid was not around, I would consider coming back here again. However in the current climate, We felt this was NOT a Covid safe environment, which the restaurant needs to urgently address.

Visited with my wife and our two rescue dogs. Fab location looking onto the beach. The food was nice and the staff were very friendly. If staying locally this is a great place to visit for afternoon tea, while enjoying the beach or visiting the Diving Museum (which we didn’t visit due to co19).

After a day on the beach, my sister and I were pleasantly surprised to see that the Bayside were doing takeaway food. We ordered a fish finger sandwich each and some cheesy curly fries. I don’t think it’s possible to make bad curly fries so we weren’t surprised that they were great. But the sandwiches were awesome! Big chunky fish fingers, thick bread, proper butter, will definitely go down as one of the best fish finger sandwiches I’ve ever had! I’m going to take my husband down today as he was a bit jealous when I told him about it.

I met up with a friend for a coffee and a sandwich. Unusually, we waited some time for our coffee.A waitress passed by and we queried where our coffees were."There's only 3 of us on" she replied somewhat curtly. The coffee and sandwiches duly arrived and were of the usual standard. On looking around, there were at least 5 members of staff. This is the first time we had encountered a reaction like this, but didn't let it detract from our meeting

Whatever you are looking for this is the place to go. Wide choice of seating in very clean surroundings - inside and outside. Great views over the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Wide selection of food all freshly cooked and at very reasonable prices. Take a walk along the seafront and then settle down for either a very filling breakfast or excellent lunch - and in the summer, evenings too. We are lucky enough to live only a couple of miles away - so walk there and back - takes away the guilt of eating so well. This is our go-to place all year round!

Stopped here for the last 2 Saturdays. Coffee and cake just fine but this place lets dogs in and it was absolutely crazy in the beach view area. The cafe shouldn’t allow customers with dogs in the cafe, that bark and growl at each other, which upset a family with twins and the babies started crying. The dogs and the owners should stay outside in the covered area so as not to annoy guests.Well give this one more chance and see what happens. Would these dog owners like it if they were out for a quiet coffee and had to put up with other peoples dogs noise?

I've been here before and complained that the cutlery, more often than not, needs a good clean but today has finished me!I ordered pancakes, maple syrup and bacon whilst hubby had a fry-up. We Ordered black coffee and then asked if they did decaffeinated. 'Yes' was the reply so I asked for two of those.I paid the bill and when I got to the table and saw the menu I realised that I'd been charged 80p more. Upon questioning this I was told that decafs are charged at 40p extra!! No mention by the girl at the till though or on the menu!!As hubbys mushrooms and beans were barely tepid - which has happened before - I'm done with this establishment! There is a much better one in Gosport High Street where the food is always hot and they don't mind substituting one item for another which the Bayside will NOT do. Bye.

Just wish they’d use larger plates as food tends to fall off! Had two cans fizz & it came to £11.50. Felt bit cold because door to marque constantly left open, shame but good food.

Went for breakfast on Monday after a recommendation. The staff were lovely, polite and efficient, but one of the breakfasts was dire. Hubby had the Gosport ferry breakfast which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the "special" of eggy bread with mushrooms. If the mushrooms had been cooked the previous year, frozen and then reheated just before serving, they couldn't have tasted worse. The eggy bread looked and tasted mass produced. Consistency and taste of plastic. So disappointed

Booked a table this time for a group of us all former work mates who enjoy a get together regularly Decided on the breakfast. Eat in the roomy airy extension with the wonderful view of the bay and the Isle of Wight. Ordered from the breakfast menu - pancakes' bacon and maple syrup with mushrooms and sausage. My other half had a bagel with scrambled egg and smoked salmon whilst friends chose their own from the extensive menu. Service was quick and food on the table in less than 10 minutes. All brought to the table with a smile. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed what they had and we agreed the Bayside is a great place to get together , as locals we are so glad its not far away

Visited the Bayside Cabin Café today with my lovely wife and her elderly father. There's plenty of parking, including disabled bays, in the pay & display car park next door and wheelchair friendly access. We sat in the conservatory area, which is bright & airy with nice sea views. There's also plenty of outdoor seating. The menu includes light meals, sandwiches, baked potatoes and the like. It's nothing fancy but it seems to work as it was very busy for a weekday lunchtime. I enjoyed my mushroom & halloumi burger with curly fries. My wife had a fish finger sandwich, which was pretty sizeable, while my father-in-law tucked into an egg & bacon sandwich. Throw in a couple of coffees & a glass of wine and the bill came to around £25 which is reasonable value. Suitably replete we headed off for a pleasant stroll along the seafront. A nice day out!

A good beach cafe with outdoor facilities and conservatory area. The food is always freshly cooked and reasonably priced. The cafe can be noisy when full as sound tend to bounce around the walls. There's a sign in the window offering a job, so I applied. I was offered a trial shift which I went to, I was there for 2 hours and 30 minutes. I finish the shift and I'm told to send my hours worked in a message so they can pay me. That was on the 8th of June, I'm still yet to receive the payment for working the time that I did. It seems like they're just looking for free labour, do not try to work here.
