Pebbles Fish & Wine Bar in Gosport

After a hellish experience at Bayside Cafe, we decided to try Pebbles. We went at lunch time, it was a lovely day so sat outside. A waitress took our order promptly and when our food arrived it was delicious. Will definitely go again

Appalling, so very disappointed with the whole dining experience The service was non existence - we chose an outside table and noticed that it was not cleaned, and so when we said something, we were asked if we wanted it cleaning or not, in a manner that was saying that this was something special we were asking for. When we were choosing the food, 2 things we asked for were not available and so asked for bread and butter with my sons main course. The waitress, then came back and said that they could not do this, and so asked if i wanted to speak to the manager, so i said yes. But then she came back and said that eventually on this occasion only could we have this, but don't ask for it in the future!! The attitude was just so rude... not once did they see if the food was OK. They were then less than helpful when we came to order dessert, so in the end, did not bother having one.

Great location, friendly staff.. lovely views. It can get very busy here. It's also quite expensive

The food was outstanding and the portions size were amazing. I had the Fish and Chips as did my wife and we had a free bottle of red wine!! Thank you to the staff and chef for a great experience.

Went for lunch on a sunny Friday in the middle of March. They are currently offering a set menu and I expected this to be smaller portions of the dishes on the main menu, it's not, the portions are very generous! I had the Scampi and chips, I struggled to eat it all, my wife had sea bass and that was really good. Bit too cold to sit outside but there is plenty of seating when the weather warms up a bit and it's such a great location. Will return to try out some of the other dishes and also try the cafe next door for breakfast. This place is excellent though and recommended

Came here for lunch as we wanted somewhere we could park nearby as my Mum has walking difficulties. Service and greeting was warm and friendly. Menu had plenty of choices and as previous reviews have said the portions were huge! At least 20 bits of scampi on the plate and stacks of fluffy chips. Highly recommended and we will be back! Clean toilets too.

Great location with lovely staff. Lots of interesting things on the menu, plus specials, and the winter fish and chips/wine deal is excellent value. Highly recommended.

Just popped in for lunch. We’ve not been to Pebbles for years. We both had the lunch menu. It was £16.50 for 2 courses. We both had the Prawn and Crayfish Cocktail to start. Then my husband had Fish and Chips and I had Burger and Salad ( I chose to swap the chips for salad) The starters and mains were both really good and the portions were huge. The starters could’ve fed 4 people. My husband’s fish was so big it was hanging off the plate and on top of a mound of chips with a generous portion of mushy peas on the side. My burger I think was homemade (if not it tasted homemade) was delicious and came with a big pot of premium coleslaw and instead of chips I got a massive portion of salad. The restaurant interior has calm and relaxing decor with great views over the solent. Drinks were fairly priced. Great service and excellent value for money. We will definitely come here again.

Stopped off for a quick snack and a coffee on a cold and windy Saturday in February. Busy as usual, which is a testament to their offerings. Always good food and drinks in a friendly atmosphere. Will always come back here when done at stokes bay, Keep it up guys

Outstanding! From being offered warm or cold beer (some people apparently prefer bitter cold!!!), efficient service, good portions (side salad with the dish is far more than the usual half lettuce leaf, slice of pepper and two quarters of tomatoe, its a decent salad) tasy well prepared food at a decent price. Wine list is good, if limited at the cheaper end.

Stopped here for lunch and what a grim experience. £25+ for x2 sandwiches & x2 teas. Ordered a fish ciabatta with tartar sauce which came with no tartar sauce, brown lettuce and fish which was grey in the middle. Disappointing.

Had Friday fish and chips with wine. Overcooked oven chips, fish mostly batter and cheap wine. Have eaten there before but this visit very disappointing. Won’t be back.

We've been to Pebbles a few times over the past few years and always had excellent seafood at very reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and accommodating.

We went to the cafe for tea and cake, it was very busy. The service was pretty good considering how busy it was. Will probably revisit but go to the dining side- Fish & Wine Bar.

Popped in for lunch, great location, food was delicious and service was great.

We used the take out window and sat outside, rather than the indoor seats, the lady who served me was awesome, very polite, a pleasure to speak to, the young chap that kept talking over her, not so much! but turned out ok in the end, lovely place, definitely go back next time we're in the area, maybe go in for some food.

My wife and I leave the kids at home and enjoy some us time in a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. The menu is wide, offering great seafood alongside other options. Always cooked beautifully and fresh to order. The seafood - especially - is always just right, with just the right coatings. Portion sizes are great and always served hot. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone, five stars and more.

Food was lovely and well worth the price. The staff were also very kind and polite and helpful. Look forward to returning again soon.

Food is a bit processed shame as this location could be a goldmine. Where’s your scallops moules etc no sauce on the seabass just too many potatoes. Mediocre was our opinion.

Such ashame , the food is high quality however I asked if the chips were from fresh and they were, however I was given them double dunked from someone's previous order and they were very dry. Lazy.

Great location, good food although small portions/small plates, staff are great in the week, a bit pricey too.....but a good experience. I cannot comment on the Fish Bar adjoining it. Come forward til today 6th October 2024, came here for a late breakfast by 11:30 (breakfast is served til 12) and told "stopped doing breakfasts as there is a backlog." Breakfast menus were still on the table!!! Sorry but that isn't good enough...miffed. Lunch was good though.

Visited a couple of times this year when visiting our friends in Alverstoke. The food and drink are reasonably priced, large portions and of a good standard. Lovely atmosphere where the staff are very welcoming and attentative. One lady in particular takes the time and trouble after her shift to speak whilst remembering us and our Rescue Yorkies. Each time she shows Holly and Ivy (The Dogs) a lot attention and spoils them with treats. Looking forward to our next visit and thank you.

My wife and I love this place. The food is great, as is the atmosphere and service. I can thoroughly recommend at least umpteen visits.

Popped in for dinner here when visiting family and couldn't recommend it more. The food was delicious (I had fish and chips) and the portion sizes were huge - every table took home doggie bags. For pudding, we shared the cheesecake which was tasty too!

Recently visited on a busy Saturday evening, food was amazing especially the scallops! Whilst locking my bike up I lost my wallet which had a substantial amount of cash in, massive thanks to Chris who managed to find my details inside and reunite me with the wallet. All In all amazing food….service and honesty. Have sent Chris a little thank you in the post .

A decent meal, which was obviously freshly cooked. Beautiful location with lots of space indoors and outside. We had the burgers, but the fish dishes being served to others looked amazing. Definitely coming back

We had a family get together, first time at Pebbles, the food was excellent, the portions huge and the service was perfect

It was busy but we got an earlier 6:30 pm booking, since someone had cancelled. We had a lovely position by the window overlooking Stokes Bay, towards Ryde, IOW and all the cruise ships and ferries along The Solent. My panko breaded calamari were lovely as a starter, with a generous side salad. For my main, I ordered the Smokie (smoked haddock, salmon, prawns under a dill mash). It's presented in a pie dish and was still sizzling. Really tasty. There was a huge pile of chips and I couldn't eat them all. The large salad was the same as in the starter and without any dressing. Please offer steamed seasonal vegetables as an option. We didn't have pudding or coffee as we were all so full. Overall a lovely meal, staff pleasant and timely with dishes and the bill.

Lovely little place with very kind staff and delicious food. Tried the smokie with chips, definitely worth trying out that place.

First time at this restaurant and our first experience of swordfish. Absolutely lovely. Nice dessert also. Great place on a warm sunny day at an outside table. Will definitely go again. Recommend.

I ate here for an evening meal to celebrate a big birthday. I had the calamari for starter which was great, and the swordfish for main which was also very good. Dessert was the raspberry and chocolate truffle, also delicious! Sadly this wasn't my first choice for the dessert, as the cheesecake and the frangipani were unavailable. I did get a little order envy at the fish and chips, it looked epic, but I think the swordfish I had was probably the right choice for me in the end. Service was prompt and friendly, despite being a busy Friday evening and the location on the seafront is fantastic with a large car park next door.

Superb location, my Coronation Chicken sandwich, salad and coleslaw was yummy but would have preferred unsliced bread, my husband's burger was 'ok'. However, as ever, we will be back.

Pebbles cafe. Poor food, dirty tables. The only positive thing is a view.

It is a lovely little restaurant by the sea, nice girls serving and is very clean. I've had the swordfish steak twice, the first time it was a good size but last night it was half that. Both times there were too many potatoes and not enough vegetables. This was the same for our friends who had the smokie (very tasty), too many chips, not enough veg. Not the right ratio for the price paid £80.

Great anniversary meal at lunchtime. Menu has choices even for people watching the calories.

The location is great, but the food is pretty standard, tables and cutlery a bit tired. Website makes it look a lot nicer than it is. With a bit of love and investment, this place could be amazing.

Lovely beachfront cafe with a decent menu , I had a sandwich which was great. Prices are standard for location , the view on a clear day is fantastic, worth that little bit extra.

Really great place. Really dirty outside however the glass needs cleaning and around the table areas there was rubbish dirt and cobwebs.

We have heard about Pebbles from some friends, we have just had a delicious meal outside. The service is impeccable and the food is spot on. We will be back soon. 5 stars from me.

Lovely food here, been many times and each time was great

Booked a table outside, food was good, generous portions. The outside area needed a good clean however, the glass was dirty, under the tables were dirty and littered. The table itself needed a good clean. There was no dressing on the salad, needed to ask for some. King prawn ginger, lemongrass and coriander was disappointing as no fresh ingredients used. The chips tasted old and we left them, even though I only had a starter for a main so left a bit hungry.

Food was outstanding really nice, generous portion sizes, lovely location, the staff were really friendly and the service was really quick, looking forward to going back

Celebrated for a 40th birthday. The food was excellent and presentation mouth watering .Food arrived all at once for the 8 people and was piping hot.Staff were friendly and helpful and respectful. Will definitely be going back! ❤

Beer batter fish was tasteless and very oily. A very average experience.

A fan of fresh local Seafood around the world I was excited that this restaurant was close to where we were staying. The photos on Google and on Instagram suggested a great connection with seasonality. You take a lovely walk down the seafront and can sit with views of local wind foilers. Now having seen exciting Lobster and Scallops on their gram in 2020 I was worried their menu seemed to have quite safe options I can get from my fishmonger 2 minutes from my house. When I asked the staff about this they seemed to have lost confidence in being able to sell items they feel they couldn't get a mark up on. These assumptions won't help to be honest as it's what's local and fresh that people want and I'm sure lots of data would support this. Nevertheless I ordered the fresh dressed crab which was lovely but as usual well priced. The dishes all look amazing just wish the variety was a bit braver. The dessert a créme brûlée flavoured ice-cream was ok, as was a raspberry chocolate sculpture but deserts are the icing on the cake. Hope to see Lobster back on the menu next visit!

Meh. Panini's were kinda smaller than what I was expecting. Bit of a wait for them as they were a bit overwhelmed on Bank Holiday Monday.

Total joke,order 2 sausage babes and the sausages were so small it looked ridiculous! Total rip off!!

Lovelynlunch at Pebbles restaurant overlooking the Solent at Stokes Bay. Very good portions of food and good value. Good wine list.Staff friendly and professional but not intrusive. We had a friend with us who was recovering from a stroke. Sadly the portions were too big for his now poor appetite but he really enjoyed it & loved being able to sit by the window enjoying the view of the sea. We suggested to the Manager that they have some smaller portions for people with small appetites. It's a great place though. Lots of outside seating too. Would recommend booking & it closes at 3pm.

Not too good this visit. Had to ask to order drinks, then ask again to order food. Presentation pretty poor, food not really hot but warm and one of our party had very under cooked chips .... Still raw in the middle... Disappointed

Smoked haddock fish pie in white wine sauce was delicious, served with tasty chips, home fresh taste. A generous side serving of fresh salad, pea shoots, tasty leaves. My friend had fish & chips. A good selection of soft drinks. Wine selection was generous Thank you to the kind, helpful, accomodating Staff who served us always with a smile & kept the table so clean. Highly recommend this delightful restaurant. Advisable to make a booking, particularly for a table inside. Plenty of outside tables under a sturdy parasol. Jazz in the summer sounds worth trying. Can't wait to return.

Lovely location, lovely staff and the food was delicious and substantial portions. The only disappointment was the very small glass of wine was very expensive. All in all though I definitely would go again.

We visited the pebbles cafe. It was dark even with the sun shining. It was chaotic with little room to move and a bottleneck at the one serving hatch. We were charged £17 for x2 tasteless, dried out ham and cheese sandwich with next to no filling. It was unappetising and we left both uneaten. It was also missold as the menue says gammon. When we gave feedback we were offered an apology but no compensation. Hot food options looked better. Hot chocolate was tasty and large.

Love their ice creams, we always get them In a tub rather than a cone but they are super yummy, as are there tea cakes and paninis. Customer service can be hit and miss, there are some that have been there a while that are good.

Nice to walk too from the diving museum, good selection of snacks and drinks, with a good choice of other meals. I had coronation chicken sandwich and enjoyed it.

Lovely reliable little bistro overlooking the sea. The food is so well cooked and very generous in portion size. Excellent, friendly service. Best Fish n Chips and Scampi around and there are also other mostly fish dishes. Fresh salads with honey & mustard dressing and homemade coleslaw.

5 of us booked for my mum's birthday. Great menu choice although we all went for the Sunday roast. Fantastic braised short rib, a huge plate of food, cooked amazingly and tasted delicious. Great rapport with the staff who were very accommodating. Would definitely recommend.
