Sandy's Fish And Chips in Gosport

Portion size was tiny. £4 for a large, certainly wasn't large. Old fella watching the girl behind the til like a hawk serving up chips so she doesn't give a decent portion. Only got two stars as the chips tasted alright.

Been here many times and never disappointed. Had the OAP specials for the 1st time! Once again not disappointed, cooked fresh so there is a wait (NOT LONG) but my word the wait is worth it, I'll be back again soon. Thank you.

TripAdvisor reported recently that this place was closed permanently! That is not so! A correction is in order. This establishment is fully open and continuing to be doing great business! Yes, one can confirm that it is is fully open and in business. Cliff and the two ladies who work with him have been in the business of being the best chippy in Gosport and for miles around. Yes, they are closed Sundays and Mondays. They remain open Tuesday through Saturday 1630 hours to 1945 hours. So, whoever reported that this establishment was permanently closed was spreading a canard! The motive for this deliberate rumour though is not clear but it is open to speculation!

Tasted like bought packet chips, that they had deep fried. They were also crinkle cut! And the portion size was quite small

Great food great service. We get take aways and delivery from sandys will use again and again, the kids love the crinkly chips they do.

Love this place. If this place was any further away, i would starve

I had fish and chips after few years was absolutely very nice and good price.

Doesn’t open on a Monday as stated on website. Walked down there and sign says closed Sunday and Monday. Need to update their website

As a kid along with a couple of mates Benny Baker and Spud Mitchell we tied about ten penny bangers Guy Falkes night together and put them in the letter box,blew the door in,I think it was Called Avis chippie them days,that was in the 50s,Oh happy dazes yeh.

Not bad, food was a little greasy the one time I used this place , however, this is not my regular chip shop. I only used it while visiting family who live near.

Been going to Sandy's for 20 years now and never had anything but good food. Staff are always friendly and polite. I would recommend Sandy's to anyone.

Had a lovely experience once again at sandys chippy great staff very fast with service as was starving..faith and alicia served me was very professional with her service will definitely come again, was nice to see young girls working hard whilst still at school and learning a trade well done girls . 5 star from me

Some of the prices are really high. I went here as it was the nearest one open on route home. The chips for large was £3.25 & normally I pay £2.50 ish for large chips at a different place... The food wasn't overly greasy which is always a bonus but the staff weren't overly enthusiastic or friendly. It's OK, but more expensive than other chip shop places around.

The girls were rude. Had the closed sign up but door open and were serving. The girl talked rudely about me to my face.

Although very tasty It was quite greasy And the staff aren't exactly 'happy in their work' Could do with smiling somewhat!

Trying to work out what the fuss is about. It's dreadful. Soggy, under cooked chips, meager portions and the curry sauce was cold. The price difference between regular/large is absurd. The curry sauce poured like a solid lump. Really disappointed considering this is supposed to be one of the best in the area. I can't say I'm surprised considering the girl fronting the checkout looked miserable as sin and clearly didn't want to be there. Unsatisfied with just about everything. There was no crispy batter being passed off as chips like other shops in the area, but that's it. Woeful. Picture is me holding the curry sauce horizontally, lol.

Wish I hadn't bothered coming here. Luckily I only wasted a tenner!. Probably the most miserable person serving I've seen in ages. No customer service at all and she looked pissed off she had customers to serve. No please or thank you when I handed over the money. If you're in a customer facing role you have to be engaging. She clearly wasn't. I asked for two portions of "regular" chips (there's not a lot in a portion by the way). I also asked for a piece of fish and she looked at me like I had asked her to donate a kidney. Chips weren't all that either. Certainly wont be going back.

Really nice take away. Food is freshly cooked and never lunchtimes warm ups. Fairly priced and nicely cooked. What more could you ask.

Fish and chips are good.The premises are a little on the small side ,It can get a bit tightly pact .so it must be good.

Called in here tonight for fish & chips as we didnt fancy cooking and have to say it was lovely. staff are friendly and price is reasonable. really enjoyed it. :-)

The fish and chips from this shop are lovely. Lots of other fried foods are on the menu, located on the wall for easy viewing. The staff are friendly and give alternative suggestions if what you ask for is not available.

We always go to this chippy; the food is freshly cooked and always of the highest quality. Nothing is too much trouble for Cliff and his staff. Can't believe the negative reviews....are the sure they weren't somewhere else?? Sandys is everything a good fish and chip shop should be!!

Not worth a mention worst i have tasted yuk wouldn't recommend. They need to have someone in there that cares about what they are doing. With the price of fish and chips these days ut was gross.

The food was well over cooked it barely had any taste left. The fish was so burnt it was stiff as a board. The chips were a burnt and dark brown in colour. It was well overpriced in my opinion as I don't like eating burnt offerings. If I could advise anything it would be to drive straight past this place. Food is TERRIBLE!!

The chips are always top notch, the gravy is flipping gorgeous and the staff always friendly and so helpful

Have been using this chippy for over 30 years, the staff are friendly and you can have a bit of fun with them. It was run by a family, alas Mun and Dad are no longer with us but the son Cliff is still running it. Fish is nice (albeit a bit small) sausages and chips are great. Highly recommended

Just a small good old fashioned "chippy" - always busy and always nice. Give yourself time to wait as it is very popular.
