I am confused by the 5 star reviews for this takeaway! The food was very average - the potatoes in the sag aloo were hard and rubbery for instance, and I have definitely eaten better locally.

First visit since the change of ownership and I had seen the mixed reviews from a few months ago. The food - haddock, cod and chips - was perfectly cooked and every bit as good as previously. The shop was very busy (Friday evening) but well organised and the service was both quick and friendly. Three happy customers this evening and very happy to recommend.

I am normally a Greggs girly when it comes to a bacon roll, but recently I saw a sign at the pantry for “hot bacon rolls” and thought I would give it a try…and I was not disappointed! I managed to park conveniently right outside and went in to a calm, cool and cozy environment. I was greeted immediately and served quickly and my roll was amazing! Will definitely be returning 🙂

A lovely garden centre with a cosy and welcoming tea room. Good choice of menu. Fantastic hardware shop on site too with an abundance of kitchen, cooking housewares upstairs and tools and all sorts on the ground floor.

SO SO SO expensive that we are now prohibited from going to this cafe. It used to be an excellent place to go, but the prices have increased beyond belief. Going out for a simple breakfast becomes a £40.00 plus trip out for two people. We travel all over the county to these types of places and this is by far the most expensive. We won’t be attending again! Oh, BTW, they then ask you for a discretionary tip on top of the already overpriced bill, don’t be fooled and don’t be shy about not paying it!

I’m disappointed to have to create a review like this. I’m a huge supporter and believer in supporting local businesses. But, having frequented many establishments locally and had fantastic brunches with friends, The Barn Kitchen brought our great run of brilliant experiences crashing to the ground. Put bluntly, our full breakfast was appalling. Cold (not even warm) and congealed. I have had twice as good in a service station and they are poor! We all sent them back, all three were stone cold. They came back luke warm (this is generous) we ate what was edible, the bacon I could have made a belt from, the mushroom was shrivelled and slimy, and the tomatoes looked like an early sundried without the sun! On a positive note the coffee was good. We did get an apology and a free second coffee, and the staff were very apologetic. But, if someone complains about the cold food make sure the returned food is exceptional. There are a few extra notes, the barn is noisy and echoing so people with hearing issues will struggle in busy periods. So many great places around, we won’t return here

I’ve visited this pub a few times whilst visiting my uncle. It’s a really nice vibe to the pub, it always looks clean and tidy, and never really over crowded. Although I’ve never eaten here, the selection of beer is good and well priced. I love the karaoke nights, and I’ve ruined a few songs. It’s great that the staff also participate in singing. The pub and staff are friendly and welcoming plus a good mix of ages. In general a really good village pub. If you are local, (or just visiting and need a night out) I would highly recommend this place.

Turned up to watch the Olympics skateboarding, the TV wasn't on but the landlady was very accommodating by putting it on and leaving the remote for me to adjust volume or change channel if I wished My pint of hawkstone lager was served cool and crisp Highly recommend 👌

Went for a casual lunch after walking the dog, having moved to the area recently. We went in expecting to just have nibbles, but the menu sounded great so we decided to splash out a bit. What we received was very disappointing and definitely not worth what we paid for it. Service at the bar was very unfriendly to the point we felt the staff would have preferred us not to be there. Starters weren't bad, I had the chorizo scotch egg which tasted nice, even if the egg yolk was a bit gelatinous. My wife had the croquettes which were also tasty but a very small portion. Main course was very poor. I got the Pollo picante, which is advertised as half a chicken in a spicy marinade. The chicken was dry and the marinade was very bland - what flavour it did have was not spicy and not even very pleasant. The amount of chicken provided was also not great - half a chicken suggests at least two very large chunks of chicken, what I received were two meagre breasts which had dried out under the grill. The chips were also poor - they had an unpleasant floury aftertaste and weren't very crispy- I'd expect better in a pub geared towards food. My wife had the pasta calabrese al forno, which was also somewhat dry and the sauce tasted burnt. It had only a small amount of chicken and practically no chorizo. We had thought about pudding but decided not to in the end. We live locally and had thought this might be a good place to come with friends and family but might not bother, given the overpriced and mediocre food and unfriendly service.

This restaurant is part of a family garden centre, visit most weeks with my mother and have always had good food, the staff are friendly and the meal is reasonably priced. As well as the main restaurant area there is a conservatory area which has been upgraded with a new roof (could now do with window blinds),relaxing atmosphere.
