A traditional public house and we have visited for liquid and food consumption over recent months. Always been more than satisfied with quality and service. Four of us booked for Sunday Roast on 13th October. The quality of the food and service were second to none and all at a very competitive price. No hesitation in recommending this establishment. We will be back.

A wonderful friendly pub. Made most welcome from the moment I arrived, not just from the staff, but the regulars too. The food is excellent and I enjoyed getting through as much as I could of the extensive menu over my 2 and a half week visit to Prestwood while working there. Real home cooking all freshly prepared and a decent portion size. Thank you to Doreen, Darcey and all the staff and regulars for a really enjoyable experience.

It was very quite being a Tuesday lunch time. But the bar staff was very helpful and polite and the food was excellent. Would recommend!

Karaoke Saturday night, no shortage of performers and a great atmosphere. Chatted to some very nice locals. I rate it as 4 only because they only had Abbot Ale and Greene King on, both I dislike, and no other ale that evening. Some decent lagers though and service was polite and speedy, reasonable prices.

Decided to stop off here on the way home from a long drive, great decision, the staff were really friendly. The food was fresh and delicious and for what you pay. You certainly get your moneys worth. If it wasn’t so far out of my way I’d be coming here more often!

WOW, WOW, WOW... Without question, one of THE BEST roast dinners I've ever eaten (and I've experienced an awful lot). The portions were perfect, and the flavour was absolutely 11/10. A seriously PROPER 'home cooked' roast, from start to finish... And then there was the homemade cheesecake, unbelievable.. I couldn't recommend this place more for a top drawer Sunday roast, if I tried

Had a buffet in the afternoon with close friends. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food excellent there was plenty. All in all it was a good experience.

The Chequers is absolutely one of my favourite places to go to - a family fun pub with so much more - delicious food, refreshing drinks, entertainment in the form of karaoke, live music and open mic nights, not to mention weekly pool and quizzes. Honestly cannot fault this place; always greeted with a warm welcome. 100% recommend!

We’ve made a few visits for Sunday lunch in recent times and every time, the food has been fantastic and quite simply the best traditional Sunday lunch in the surrounding area. On this occasion we had my elderly mum with us and the young staff were amazingly helpful, patient and polite, offering a reduced sized portion for my mum and a decent choice of mains for my vegetarian daughter. The portions for the standard mains were generous and nicely seasoned. Would highly recommend.

We arrived here on Sunday without a booking. Without hesitation we were made to feel welcome and assured that we would be given a table. Very shortly afterwards we were seated by the wood burner and the atmosphere was amazing. Very snug on a cold day. Despite our dietary requirements (vegetarian and vegans; amongst meat eaters) there were several dishes for us to choose. What followed was without a doubt the meal was amazing, and one of the best in the area. We would happily return. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough. Such a wonderful atmosphere.

Would love to recommend this pub if my night wasn't ruined by an insecure little landlord with a power complex. Be sure to read all the rules before you go because if you put a drink near you the pool table you will be threatened to be bared. Even if you apologize he will continue to threaten you. Wonderful Sunday lunch, best I've had anywhere for a long time, highly recommend

I recently took 3 friends for lunch to this wonderful pub and we all have a fabulous time. A table was reserved for us in a very quiet corner although the pub itself had a very peaceful vibe to it throughout which was very welcome as it allowed for us all to be heard as we conversed and really feel relaxed. Service was exceptional as the young lady who welcomed us and helped us with our order questions was attentive and charming with a beautiful smile and instantly friendly demeanour. Nothing was ever too much trouble, even with my fussy food habits, and on several interactions we all laughed at my terrible jokes, it really was quite delightful. The food portions were very good with our mains being excellent value and I personally cannot remember the last time I had a burger that was so filling and tasty. All 4 of us ate everything on our plates and enjoyed every mouthful. As I was on medication that stopped me from having more fun drinks I asked for a large jug of water which in some places gets you a frown, but here there was total understanding and it was brought out in pitcher that very probably could rehydrate a desert. It was massive and much appreciated, thank you so much for that. I even got a nice lemon slice, so that was a bonus. My fellow diners each had a mixture of soft drinks and a beer which they were very happy with. Desert was very impressive with my 2 chocolate choices (yes 2, I am greedy, lol) being so yummy that I wish I had ordered 3. The apple crumble and custard was hoovered up by my friends who were over the moon with the portion size. All in all we spent about 3 hours in this gorgeous pub, we ate great food and had a brilliant time. I myself am new to Prestwood and this was a fantastic experience, my 3 friends are locals however none of them had been in before so for them it was a great experience too, we all fully intend to return as everything was so enjoyable and fun. As we left it had become a bit busier but even then the atmosphere was warm and friendly, it seems this pub has a very nice crowd of regulars. All in all the four of us dined and drank for just over £100 and it was money very well spent. I highly recommend The Chequers Tree for a lunchtime visit. It oozes charm and has a very welcoming vibe, it's very good value for money and if you make the young lady who works there laugh enough she has been known to bring people a few extra chocolate mints as a reward. That's an epic win in my book. X

Sunday roast followed with pudding, I'm a regular almost every Sunday. It's a plateful of flavour just like mum used to make. Definitely the most welcoming pub and I now call it my local.

Lovely pub the food was really good I loved the fact the burger wasn't in a brioche bun.

Truly lovely evening, food was excellent and very decent portions and the cheesecake presented to my husband for his birthday was lush! Staff could not have been more attentive and entertaining in equal measure and we will be back. And we came second in the quiz!

They could not have been more helpful. We arrived as the kitchen was closin g, but they agreed to make 2 portions of beer battered fish and chips and it was absolutely delicious . Bar staff were really helpful and made us feel very welcome . Will definitely go back

The Chequers Tree is one of the best value Sunday lunch options in the area. Hearty helpings, tasty vegetables and giant yorkshires. Also home-made apple and blackberry pie for dessert.

Great little local to pop into. Very friendly good selection of drinks and serves good chips.

We were the only two in the pub having a meal on the lunchtime so there was no atmosphere to be held. A couple of drinkers came in but sat outside. The pub is really pleasant inside and I would imagine it is quite popular usually. There is a good menu with a good variety of choices with one or two not your usual pub grub. Our meals were quite good being very hot and good portions. Staff were attentive and very helpful. Overall very good experience and we would go again.

Went with family for a breakfast... it was good, but felt we were not welcomed.

This is a real treasure first visit we had pies ribs vegetarian plus 2 chilldrens meal and everyone was very pleased with their meal will definetly be back on regular basis staff are absolutely great highly recommend

This pub is beautiful and spotless. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the staff polite. The guests are quite civilized. I felt welcomed and I wanted to stay for a long time. I only had a creamy Guinness, but no food though. However, by the looks of it, I'm sure their kitchen is top-notch.

My husband and I visited this pub for the first time this evening with our dog. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The locals were friendly too. The food was good value, tasty and large portions. Good pub grub. We will be back!

This is a nice friendly pub, with a sports bar if you want it. I have eaten here on several occasions. The food is excellent and well priced. This time I had the cod and chips. Good portion size and well cooked.

Visited on a Friday evening with my boyfriend. There is parking at the rare and a garden. The staff was just lovely - very friendly and attentive. The portions are big, delicious and reasonably priced.

Dont bother.. Extremely unprofessional and confontational landlady who cant take critiscism. Would rather come and have an argument with you . Staff not much better.. but they mostly family.. apple doesn't fall far. Use of common sense is invisible. Shame

Had a delicious lunch yesterday 27th Aug. 3 of us had cod and chips and 1 had chicken curry. The food was piping hot and evidently freshly cooked. The staff were welcoming and service was excellent. A really lovely pub with a good atmosphere. Will be visiting again for sure.

Had the salmon & dill fish cakes and a pint of Abbot Ale and it was delicious. The salad was generous, well-dressed, very fresh and contained a variety of ingredients. Pub salads are not usually like this! I was very impressed. Also the beer was fresh and well kept. When I’m next in the area I’ll definitely be back.

Not bad place always seems to be busy

Just called in for a quick drink. The beer and service was good and the atmosphere was welcoming. However, after 2 pints I was pleased to leave! The barmaid had such a screeching laugh - it made me jump everything. It was very unpleasant! The young guys at the bar seemed to enjoy it though!
