Great food, the nachos were to die for. Had nut roast and was really good!

Booked a table for 6 on 7th August was told nit a full menu tonight so was initially disappointed, but we all had a fantastic meal, everything cooked to perfection, and plenty on the plate, only complaint was it took over 30 minutes to get our bill...

Sunday lunch, staff friendly, food nice, service terrible. Waited over 40 mins for main. When it came it appeared to have been reheated in microwave. Waiting to give order for dessert, we felt that the staff just weren't seeing us, even though we were in the front in full sight. Sadly disappointing.

A recommendation for The Old Oak Holmer Green pub - we had our Christmas meal there last night, for the Jubilee Sensory Garden volunteers. There were lots of us to look after and the staff and manager did a wonderful job. The food was excellent and the service was too. Be warned, the portions are large but a few of us asked for a box to take leftovers home- which they were happy to supply. I had prawn cocktail and turkey roast - all of my fellow diners enjoyed their choices too. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have have 2 good meals in the last 7 days food was excellent but the pub on both occasions was so cold my wife and i had to keep our coats on.

Just happened to be in the area at lunch time, found this little gem on Google maps. Good quality food at a great price, £22 for two lunches and four coffees - a delicious bargain!

Me and my husband came last night for food, after hearing mixed reviews about the food here we thought we would give it a try and honestly couldn’t be more impressed. The young girl serving us was very attentive to our worries and was assuring us about their new chef and showing us the changes to the menu and recommended food for us to try (which I must say I usually wouldn’t go for in a pub). I must also add it seemed like she really cared the way she spoke to us and also overheard the way she was speaking to other customers it was lovely to see from a girl that age as it really makes all the difference to your experience. My husband got the salmon, it looked lovely and tasted even better the only thing I would say is that the cut of salmon is quite small. I went for the vegetable lasagna, again this was very nice and tasted very fresh. They also have deals on with food and drink on certain nights which the young girl informed us on. We will definitely return for these! Overall we left very impressed!

We all enjoyed a fabulous roast dinner. The nut roast was delicious and one of the best we have had. The cookie dough desert and chocolate fudge cake was the perfect ending. Friendly service and we hope to return. Dogs welcome which is a bonus

Didn't book but got a table for 2 around 7pm ...rural chips super steak fabulous ...portions huge....service was busy but couldn't be more genuine. Great meal

Manager is very rude to his staff. He keeps their tips and keeps them at the end of every shift. I though slavery days were over but obviously NOT!!!!

Manager is very unfair with the staff and keeps all the tips. Please don't tip because you are only filling the managers pocket. Poor staff work hard and late hours. Tips are supposed to be for the staff NOT THE MANAGER!!!!

Celebrated a family member's birthday at the Old Oak pub (formerly the Valiant Trooper). It's pub grub done really well and everyone enjoyed their meal. My steak and pepper sauce was cooked as I like it, with chunky chips and mushroom. Beer's fine too.

Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Had Christmas dinner here, food was excellent. Highly recommended.

Only popped in for a drink. The bar area was clean and a nice if a bit loud. Toilets clean and well presented. I didn't get a chance to look around properly and I would definitely visit again at some point.

Nice local with really good burgers and skin on fries and decent kids menu. Good service and really good desserts!

I had the delcious and superbly cooked Battered Haddock which was served with a fresh salad at my request as I don't eat fries. Ruby, the lovely young waitress, gave us excellent service.

Visited during a recent trip to my mum's. Excellent food, very well cooked, very good value, and well kept beer. We had the pizzas here - which were top notch - and came back for the Sunday roast. One of the best pub roasts I have had. Generous portions and exceptional value. Highly recommended!

The food here is amazing!! 10/10 the roast dinners are really good and the burgers are out of this World. I would go as far to say the best burger I have ever had. The staff are so nice and polite the pub is all round a good place to be and very welcoming.

Had a meal here with family last month. Oh my goodness, where to start? Firstly it is COLD in there, you need to wrap up in multiple layers if you don’t want to freeze. Secondly, the lady who served us was so RUDE. I couldn’t believe how dismissive she was, patronising and arrogant. I didn’t get her name sadly but I’m sure you can work out who she is. Finally, the food was RAW. I had the fish and had to send it back. Not an apology given. Will NOT return.

The food and service is 5*, couldn’t fault it. Please do go and enjoy the food and service. Just wear many layers. I will certainly be back when the weather warms up. I wish I could give it a 5, but each time I’ve been here it is cold. Sitting on the upper level where the door is opened often by staff to go outside to get stock doesn’t help. The open fire is nice but doesn’t heat the upper level. It seems as though there just isn’t enough heating. I dress appropriately for being cold but your hands are very cold. A couple were in their coats eating their meal when we arrived. So it’s not just me or just on the day I was there.

First visit for a while, probably last. Although the place looks like it's had a refurb the service was nonexistent. We popped in for a drink one night to be totally ignored by the bar staff. They were serving already but there was no acknowledgement we where waiting. Once served it certainly wasn't service which a smile. It's a bit sad as this should be our local.

Had Sunday lunch at The Old Oak yesterday. The food was excellent. Beautifully cooked, plenty of it and really well presented. Would have made 5 stars but the service wasn't great but they were busy. Overall, excellent and will be coming back - thank you!

Four Family members had lunch and drinks here on Wednesday 20th October 2021 at midday . The Food was the best we have had at any of the pub restaurants that we have been to. Fast service and I have got to say a big thankyou to the lovely girl that served us. Very pleasant and chatty. We will defiantly be going back. Thank you all so much.

Lovely country pub with a great selection of real ales on hand pumps. Haven't tried their food yet but smells and looks lovely. Nice beer garden to the side with outdoor room featuring large TV. Recently refurbished this is a cracking pub with friendly bar staff.

food is good but customer service is terrible. I left my belongings on the table and went out front to meet a friend, once i came back all my stuff got cleared which is fine fair enough but when i asked if i could get my things back both the waitress and the manager claimed nothing was picked up and couldn’t look at cctv then when the manager came over she was rude and argumentative about the items that went missing whilst still questioning why i’m making “such a big deal out of it” and kept talking over me not letting me finish my sentence… later on it got confirm my things got thrown in the bin but they couldn’t get it because is smelt like “weed” ultimately get taken off site and refused entry when i tried to get a refund for food i ordered i was initially refused for some silly reason but i did get that refund in the end. the stories they was telling me was inconsistent and very frustrating. won’t be coming back again.

We both had roasts - lamb and beef. My husband asked that if there was a choice, he'd like his beef to be on the rarer side - box ticked! I had the lamb which was delicious and was served with an extra pot of gravy which served both of us. The desserts were delicious and the service from our young waiter was impeccable which, of course, is a testament to the quality of their training and the attention to detail of the management. It was good to see the new management had redecorated and the menus were modern and simple. We'll be going again!

Manager did not know what beers were on , we waited over 40 minutes for very expensive but bad quality meals . A very good lady server in the end but by then the experience was ruined and we wanted to leave for a second drink elsewhere

just ate the old oak and the food was brilliant as was the service , the pork belly was amazing and my wife had plenty of veggie options which she always was very happy with ,will return very soon

We went to The Old Oak to try out the new menu. It did not disappoint. The staff were very attentive. The new menu is at present running along the existing menu. I tried the smoked mackerel for a starter and the pork belly for the mains. you can see from the pictures the presentation of all the dishes was excellent. We will be back to try more of the new menu soon. Well done Sam and his team keep the good work up.

Lovely family meal today, big portions, excellent quality food and service

Came in for a birthday catch up on Saturday night and we couldn't fault the service and the food we had. There was a large party of younger people in at a similar time but the staff seemed to remain calm and made sure everyone within the place was being looked after equally- the covid regulations seemed to make their jobs slightly harder, but everyone on the table agreed it didn't take away from the service we received. We were mainly served by a lovely young girl, think her name was "Lauren" or "Laura" I apologise if I have that wrong, she was more than happy to go above and beyond, I was being slightly picky with my .order and nothing seemed to be too much trouble- hats of to the chef also my food came out perfectly, overall couldn't fault everyone who helped us throughout our meal. I wish I caught everyone's name but THANK YOU EVERYONE. Will be returning for sure, one of the ladies mentioned the new menu coming soon so that may give us the best excuse to come back- not that we needed one.

Very helpful staff, good food and we'll organised

Having failed to book on the first Sunday after the loosening of Covid restrictions for Sunday Dinner and starting to get desperate, we passed the One Oak and thought we'd chance our arm. Success, they had space. To be honest I wasn't expecting much from what appeared to be a functional but ordinary pub. However the old saying, don't judge a book by it's cover, is apt in this case. Service was provided by two friendly and delightful young ladies and it was quick. We ordered roast lamb @ £15 each. 20 mins later it arrived and was pretty as a picture, with a very good sized, home baked Yorkshire Pudding topping a generous portion of lamb with a great selection of veg, perfectly cooked and it all tasted as good as it looked. Simply can't praise it high enough. Well done the Old Oak.

Surprisingly lovely food. The service is excellent and the whole ambiance is great.

We went here for our last meal out before the second lockdown came in and we were glad it was our choice for a nice last dinner out! The food at the old oak is really good quality now, it's the best it's ever been. We had starters, mains, and desserts and everyone enjoyed their choices - it was also very busy as it was the last night that pubs could be open but even with this the staff were efficient and the service was quick!

We visited the pub for Sunday lunch after hearing other great reviews. We were not disappointed despite the covid restrictions in place. The staff were welcoming and attentive and the roast dinner was delicious. Generous portions and beautifully cooked roasted vegetables. We will definitely be returning and wish you all the best over the next few difficult weeks.

Having had parents living in the village for 35 years it is now lovely having The Old Oak offering good home cooked food. Just enjoyed a late Sunday roast with delicious desserts - highly recommend! Please ignore pre 2020 reviews as it has new owners.

Super glad this is our local, really enjoy visiting for food or a just a drink. Food is excellent with really large portions (we always over order!). Love the Sunday roasts too. Lovely team providing friendly service.

My new favourite local pub. The owner of this pub also operates two pubs in the area. In the past they served good food but nothing exciting. We were pleasantly surprised after lockdown to discover a food revolution in his establishments. Great food for good value. We had a couple of dishes so far: Calamari starter, Sirloin steak, Rack of Lamb, Pork Belly, Hamburger and side salad. Friendly staff. Highly recommend them.

Popped in for Sunday lunch. Friendly staff, service a little slow but not a problem. Atmosphere OK. Ran out of Roast Beef which was disappointing so had alternative which was good. The "Oak Burger" was not nice, have had better burgers from a burger van, definitely not home made, shame. Will give it another try though and update review.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch celebrating a family birthday on the 30th. Portions were large and the Yorkshire pudding was well received. The three ladies who took care of us were very attentive and good humored. We haven't been in for a while so it was the first time we'd seen the refurbishments and the chairs in particular are lovely. There was a vegetarian option on the Sunday menu but not a vegan one - despite this I have given five stars which is what the rest of our crowd wanted me to give! PS we fixed the light above our table by wobbling the bulb :-)

but...too packed on the 50% off gov scheme and didn't feel tables spaced out, plus it had very much pub feel rather than a pub with eating too if you get my drift.Lots of swearing, very laddish, so it depends on what you want but not for a couples going out to eat for sure.

Came here for lunch with my family on a whim and had an absolutely fantastic meal. All necessary precautions were taken to make you feel safe re Covid-19, including a one-way system, plenty of hand sanitiser and table service.We waited a little while for the food, but there were very few staff and they explained that in advance. We were happy to chat so it didn't matter and the food was definitely worth the wait. The pork belly and beetroot and goats cheese salad were particularly good.We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely come again.

I have visited The Old Oak Holmer Green on numerous occasions and each and every time I have felt welcome by all the staff and the locals. Great selection of food and drink at very reasonable prices. I chose to go for a dinner with friends here and I was very happy with the quality of the food and service. Very relaxed atmosphere with staff on hand to make your visit worthwhile. Jody is the manager of the pub and does a fantastic job. Her hospitality is outstanding and is an asset to the pub. Fantastic beer garden. Great for all the family and dogs welcomed. Social distancing rules adhered to throughout the pub. Highly recommend.

Good pub, good social distancing measures. We sat outside in the beer garden and had some food and drinks. The food was lovely, we had pizza which was good. They are using an app to place orders but also offer table service. Good one way system in place. They took details and have plenty of sanitiser. Would recommend. They are really making an effort

Beautiful roast beef dinner, but next time I’ll ask to sit in the restaurant , not the bar area as kids kept coming in and out of the garden and the door was right behind me. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely Sunday lunch, a table of 13 was no problem-great food and service

Came here for the first time today with my Husband. The staff were friendly and polite. We ordered both food and drinks from the table. All of which arrived promptly and tables were cleaned in the same manner without us feeling rushed. Good variety of drinks and whilst the food menu is quite small, the food is amazing!

A verfy friendly greeting as we entered - on the off-chance - but had to wait before ordering our drinks.When we said we wished to order food, the nice bar lady asked us to find a table and she would bring the menu. We did and she did!So, food ordered and after a lengthy wait it arrived and was quite okay. A couple sitting nearby who had ordered long before we sat down, had apparently waited for a long time, Then a party of 6 who ordered after us and they too waited and waited. So long so that one had to leave before their food arrived.It seems that the kitchen staff are either under-staffed or in no particular hurry to produce the food?The place, we understand, has recently been refurbished with a new owner and this may explain the 'experience' and the title.One other thing we didn't like was the hard wooden floor!

Went to this pub with friends on the off chance. Great service and very friendly staff at this local pub / restaurant. Went on the off chance to this local pub and was welcomed by friendly bar staff. Food was delicious and served on very hot plates, good menu choice and very reasonable prices. Had the rack of lamb and the burger meals , lamb was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. Good choice of beers wine and gins.

New Owners January 2020! Good food, great selection of drinks including local beer (Rebellion) and others for choice. G & T menu too if that's your thing. Service very good, nice atmosphere. Good service, couldn't ask much more, will be going back soon.
