Amazing service, the staff was super sweet and caring. The food was ok, but not as good as expected... The gnocchi were missing personality, the taste was nice but not as tasty as could have been. All of the other plates were fine but the portions were way too small. I did not expect to get a huge portion but 2 slices of duck breast... I think 3 stars reflect the actual value. The dessert was not as nice as you expected it to be, we were expecting a nice gelato but it was mediocre... We paid quite a lot for what we had, thus I would not recommend this place.

Popped along for Sunday Roast with my wife. We arrived a little after 2pm and was glad to hear food was still being served. A family run pub, we were made to feel welcome. A lot of effort had been made to decorate for Halloween, very nicely done. For our meals I had the chicken and my wife had the beef. Both came with some vegetables, roasted potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, stuffing ball, pig in blanket and a large boat of gravy for us to share. The chicken was a whole breast, without skin. The beef was three large slices. The food was served hot, the roasted potatoes had that lovely crisp coat that I enjoy, it was nice. For dessert we both had Apple Crumble with ice cream, which came with a good portion of fruit and crumble, afterwards we both mentioned that the crumble needed a little something, underdone perhaps or needing a little more butter. But the bowl was scraped clean.

Really nice green curry, it tasted really fresh and I was very impressed with the beef sandwich. We tried the fried ice cream for the novelty and were pleasantly surprised, it was still frozen in the inside and tasted really great! The owner was nice and had a lovely chat with us. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a nice quick lunch.

The Hoddington Arms is getting it right! From the warm and friendly welcome, to the ongoing super service from all staff, and the lovely food. Ambience - the lighting is just right and I personally loved hearing Sam Cooke discreetly in the background. I had a lovely evening with friends. Thank you to the team at The Hodd.

I left glorious Hampstead and Highgate nearly 15 years ago to live in the Meon Valley which nestles in the South Downs National Park. To my surprise it turned out to be even more glorious than I'd hoped (in a very different rural way) albeit super parochial! A couple of weeks ago I decided to visit The Yard which I'd read about. Imagine my surprise when I arrived, parked with ease and walked into what I can only describe as having a Shoreditch-vibe smack in the middle of the Candover Valley in Hampshire. Great decor. Delicious pastries if that's your thing. And great coffee which is definitely my thing. Best of all - there was an absence of yummie mummies indulging their demanding kids and raising the decibels. A place where I could sit and continue my latest screenplay whilst imaging I was in the hub of the city. If they'd also served eggs I'd be in heaven.

Me and some girlfriends came here last night for dinner and we all had Thai dishes. I would highly recommend the food and pub the service was very friendly and welcoming and the food was gorgeous. I will be making it my regular now and will be taking my family to feast on the Thai food here again it was stunning.

We did a hike in the area and called into the Fox for lunch and a pint. The pub exterior looked a bit tired so our expectations weren't high, However, as soon as we entered the pub and were met with a friendly welcome things started to look up. Like a previous reviewer we had the tuna sandwich and the steak burger with Stilton but our experience was far more positive. The food was simple but very tasty, especially the chunky chips. Likewise the beer was well kept and very refreshing after a long walk. There was a large group of ramblers in the pub who had clearly arranged to park in the pub car park before doing their walk. They all appeared to be enjoying their post walk food & drinks too.
