We had to find somewhere for our late mother's wake, at short notice just before Christmas, and Peter & Fran were extremely helpful. Few places were open; they would normally have been closed but agreed to open especially for us on 30 December and so we were able to give our mother the send off she would have wished. The food was lavish and plentiful and the pub very cosy. We were very well looked after at a time we were all feeling fragile. Highly recommended.

Amazing service, the staff was super sweet and caring. The food was ok, but not as good as expected... The gnocchi were missing personality, the taste was nice but not as tasty as could have been. All of the other plates were fine but the portions were way too small. I did not expect to get a huge portion but 2 slices of duck breast... I think 3 stars reflect the actual value. The dessert was not as nice as you expected it to be, we were expecting a nice gelato but it was mediocre... We paid quite a lot for what we had, thus I would not recommend this place.

The abysmal roast dinner was all microwaved to warm back up, so so bad that we actually laughed when we looked at it. Grey beef, watery gravy. Lasagne portioned off and then heated up so swimming in grease and FULL of chunks of garlic. Chips were fine but oily. Probably should have complained, but after a long walk we just wanted to eat something and get home, plus there is unlikely to have been much they could do to resolve things. Staff are nice. Dog friendly pub

We opted to go to this gastro pub having read great things on line and the fact that the fish and chips here are supposed to be a speciality. However, it turned out that those who ordered the beef and burger dishes made the best choices. To my mind, the haddock and chips - ordered by three members of our group - were definitely inferior to what one gets at the nearby Oliver’s fish and chip restaurant where the price is at least 50% lower. I suppose one must take into account the lovely decor of this pub and the very good service but not the place to head to if you are a fish and chip aficionado. On another day my verdict may be different but today was not that day.

Excellent toasted sandwich, a tasty soup in a cardboard bowl and a strong cup of coffee ! Exactly what was needed on a sunny day, sitting outside on the patio - our first meal out in 4 months !! Very friendly staff and free wifi. The walk around the fields in the gorgeous Hampshire countryside afterwards was the bonus. Would thoroughly recommend 😊

Lovely interior, the staff were very friendly and attentive. We went for the fish finger sandwich which was a disappointment. It was basically birds eye frozen fish fingers in Warburtons "farmhouse" bread for £10.45 which I did not feel was worth the cost of the meal. I was expecting home-made fish gougons with local bakery bread. Reading other reviews, I think it's recommended to go for the Thai option instead.

We did a hike in the area and called into the Fox for lunch and a pint. The pub exterior looked a bit tired so our expectations weren't high, However, as soon as we entered the pub and were met with a friendly welcome things started to look up. Like a previous reviewer we had the tuna sandwich and the steak burger with Stilton but our experience was far more positive. The food was simple but very tasty, especially the chunky chips. Likewise the beer was well kept and very refreshing after a long walk. There was a large group of ramblers in the pub who had clearly arranged to park in the pub car park before doing their walk. They all appeared to be enjoying their post walk food & drinks too.
