We were drawn to this place by the thai menu on offer. On arrival we were warmly greeted by a very pleasant young lady and made to feel extremely welcome. The crackers and sweet chilli dip were very tasty but i would like the sauce to be a bit thicker as it dripped everywhere. Our starters were very tasty and look great. Our main ( Pad thai ) was generous in portion size but lacked in seasoning and flavour and being very stodgy we found it hard to finish.

It was a quiet little pub on the day we went during the holidays. If you like Thai food you must go absolutely fantastic. The staff are lovely and very welcoming. Thank you we will be back!

Good food served hot, prompt service and courteous staff. Nothing to complain in those areas. Not giving five stars as the quantity of the food could have been more generous considering the price.

Lovely food, especially for someone with many food allergies. All was safe, and I was taken seriously 😋

Came for Mother’s Day and only managed to have our starters. We cancelled the mains as they were taking so long. Our table had already been pushed back which we were fine with, but once we sat down we were ignored and service was very slow. The young lady serving us was apologetic but the man running the place was not at all, he made excuses and was rude. Would not recommend.

There is not much space for a baby stroller, the place is a little small but otherwise I liked it

Stopped off on the way back from the new forest to London. Very friendly pub with roaring log fire. Very friendly staff, pleasant background music, amazing good. Thai food or English fayre. We had Thai green curry. Prawn crackers, spring rolls, really tasty and reasonably priced. There was also fish and chips, and other English classics in the menu. Highly recommended.

Lovely surprise in a sleepy village on the outskirts of Basingstoke, over the M3. Super food

Beautiful pub had a bit of country side feel. Restaurant filled with customers and we ordered fish and chips, Thai green curry prawns and pad Thai. Starters were very nice but just too expensive, for four small slices of fried squids cost almost £8. Tom yum soup wasn't authentic it tasted like the seasoning powder made. The green curry was tasty but again it wasn't a lot to eat. Fish and chips were alright, crispy battered and chunky chips. As an overall, a pub food service, we would be thinking it could be more generous at this rate. We spent c. £110 for drinks and foods.

Met 2 of our friends today for lunch , who are quite discerning and had a lovely meal. The Massaman curry and Green curry were delicious. We will certainly come again

Not at all disabled friendly as there is a narrow steep path and several stairs to the pub. No lighting in car park, very dangerous.

Nice pub with nice staff but my friend and I waited an hour and a half for scampi and chips. It was however, very nice when it finally arrived.

Quick pint of Neck Oil, and an Aperol spritz for the wifey, whilst enjoying the sun in a decent beer garden. Quiet but nice enough and would return if in the area.

Wow, just wow. Thai is my favourite food, and I've rarely had it so well done as here. Just absolutely exquisite flavours, definitely one to try.

Could not fault the food, delicious. Booked the Jolly Farmer for our anniversary meal, on the back of another review that actually scored the pub low because they said they " hadn't booked and couldn't get a table in the main building" instantly i thought if this place gets booked up it good! And it is!!!! But as it was full tonight I'd recommend booking! Starters were excellent, i had Chicken satay skewers which were the niciest I've ever tasted. Both mains were great. Only fault was we had a long wait between starter and main, but when the food arrived..... boy it was worth the wait! The pleasant surprise was it was only £6.50 taxi from Basingstoke to the pub too, so i was really glad we left the car at home as the pub serves a really good pint of beer too. We asked for an Irish coffee to finish the evening, the bar staff didn't know how to make it, BUT were kind enough to say they would " have a go". So I was going to score the services as a 4 out of 5 because of the wait , but the friendliness and positive attitude deserves a 5. We will definitely be eating there again.

This Establishment advertised it was having a beer festival. After walking 30 minutes to the Jolly farmer i discovered that putting 1 ale extra on was their version of a beer festival, i do not feel that 3 real ales warrants a tag of a festival. I would treat any promotional advertising from this establishment as dubious in the future

An interesting place and we'd be happy to visit again. The staff were both helpful and friendly and the food was good. The menu offered only a limited choice and a lot of it was Thai food.

We came here for dinner. We had delicious Thai food. The dishes were very well flavoured and authentic, it tasted fresh and was presented well. It was well priced and you get a decent portion size for each meal, it will definitely make you full. The menu isn't very big and only has a few items BUT the items on the menu are prepared extremely well. From the starters to the mains to dessert. So overall the quality and taste are delicious and the dishes tasted wholesome. Staff were friendly and helpful and overall pub was neat and tidy with a cosy atmosphere. Very ideal place for a nice dinner date or casual drink at the pub. Would happily visit again.

The first time I have ever been asked for a tip by the person presenting the bill, I often tip if the service and the food is good but unfortunately tonight the service was slow, and the desert did not match what was described on the menu I felt quite embarrassed being asked for a tip after paying the full bill which I rounded up over the total cost even though I mentioned the desert was poor. 🤔

Proper old country pub with a good sized garden. We had a beef & chicken roast which were really good. Will definitely be back & only a 30min walk from our house.......bonus! 😃👍

The atmosphere was fantastic because of the local dart club and everyone in the small village! The food was outstanding, we had Thai curries and English food and they were both out of this world! The waitress was very good at her job and incredibly helpful! Overall, it was a fantastic night and we left with our stomachs full knowing we will be coming back soon…

Great family run atmosphere. Lovely warm woodburning stove. TV for world cup action, but the with volume turned down enough (quite right!). Nice beers. The food is particularly good if you like Eastern quinine! But traditional pub grub also nice.

We had the pleasure of attending the quiz night yesterday. So from start to finish we were made very welcome on arrival by Jack and Landlord Mehmet we had pre ordered our meal and it came out on time. We ordered a starter of Pork dim sum and it was absolutely lovely. Our main meals of Beef Massaman and Thai green chicken curry were just sublime. The portion sizes were perfect. I am now a Thai food convert after having an absolute awful Thai experience years ago and always swore I would never eat it again . Nui the chef is just so talented and has converted me. We will be back. Thank you also to Martin the quiz master.

Have not been to the Jolly Farmer for about 2 years due to Covid, we took my daughter for Sunday lunch and all the vegetables were cold so sent all four meals back. Noticed the only other diners sent two meals back also. I was proud to take my daughter to this pub but not in a hurry to visit again. Sorry.

First time under new ownership and the food was very good! Would go again for sure. Went back again a month or so later. And the food was not good. Goujon baguette, had no goujons in it. And the bread was crumbling. Really disappointing.

The jolly farmer is very bad for bookings as I was on phone and the women said can you wait well I waited and all I could here is laughing and joking in the background I was very disappointed not very professional as running a business

Great little pub in a village location with a good selection of food & drink along with a friendly bunch of staff

Nice county pub with friendly staff and some good ales and ciders (£5.60 a pint of cider). The downside was our meal. My wife and I had fish and chips. The oven chips were hard and under cooked couldn't eat them and the crispy batter fish was anything bar crispy. Really disappointed. I cannot tell you what the other meals were like but reading other reviews I wish I went for something else.

Update 14/4/2022 After our return visit today, meeting the lovely Lizzie and having lunch I'm pleased to say the team taking on this pub have really turned it around. 2 ales on tap and a good lunch menu. This pub is getting the support it deserves. Well done and looking forward to quiz night and the future events. Back to 5*. Update 30/3/2022. Having walked to the JF today for drinks with friends, very disappointed they had no real ale on tap. Had one drink before moving to another pub. Update 19/3/22. Under new management. Opened today for drinks. Still a great pub. Food service starting soon. Great village pub. Free house with a varied list of hand pulled guest ales.

Having not re opened for that long, I didn't think it would be as good as it was back in the day, how wrong was I. Super friendly staff & landlords. Dog friendly (everywhere) Great value for money Amazing food Indoor & outdoor area's Worth the 3 mile walk to get here & will definitely recommend to family and friends. Will be back soon. Did I mention they run a loyalty scheme 🤔

Visited the Jolly Farmer on a few occasions over the past couple of weeks. Lovely place for food drink or an early morning coffee. Very Friendly and welcoming. Food is amazing especially fish & chip Friday which we had last week.

They serve food here but this is the second visit and no coffee despite the board advertising they offer it

Lacking tlc and gents toilets stink to high heaven

I arrived early and some of the beers weren't on, the place was very well furnished and I understand the food is good, I will go again

Popped into the pub for lunch, it was lovely the staff was friendly. Will be going again

Booked a table for lunch at this pub after looking at the menu on line. On arrival we were advised that the 2 course inclusive menu was not available and we could only choose from the a la carte menu. The manager did not apologise or come out to discuss this with us. If something is advertised on the website, it should be honoured or else removed from the website. Very disappointed, will not visit again.

Our experience wasn't great. A lot of items were off the menu at 1.15pm. Service was really slow. Took about 55 minutes for scampi and chips and a Ciabatta to arrive. Quality was fine for standard pub fare. The gents toilet was a bit tired and smelly. The bar lady was friendly and enthusiastic.
