The best restaurants in South East

Had the 2 course set menu at £29 x 2, plus a bottle of water, a tea and a coffee (which was too strong for my taste). The haggis starter was super tasty, the gurnard was ok but nothing special. It’s not possible to swap the starter for a pud without incurring a big supplement even though the starters seemed to cost more so didn’t understand that at all. With service came to £40 pp which seems pricey compared with the previous weeks outing. We were in Padstow and went to the famous person’s fish restaurant. £40 for 3 courses plus a glass of Whispering Angel. Much better value and everything was delicious. Wish we lived closer!

Busy eatery in seaside town. Food is fine and what you would expect. Several of the staff are young and it is nice to see them out working for their living. The place has been there for years and they know what their customers want. Very good carvery at the weekend.

Very expensive for extremely small portions of meat (and the chicken was reheated). Salad was lettuce a couple of bits of cucumber and one slice of radish. Cant believe how much they charge for this. Never again

Had a coffee and tea here midweek afternoon. The service was warm and friendly. Only one other couple was in the place at the time, so it was very quiet.

Following a great afternoon at the “Natural Wine Fair” we went for a lovely bottle of Anatheme Red with some delicious Nibbles with friends. Just Perfect…

Another fabulous evening meal in the Lodge at the Muddy Duck. Lovely cheerful staff, prompt service and great food served hot as it should be. This is still the best pub for miles around and well worth a visit. The only negative is (still) the absence of a lovely welcoming fire. The room is begging for it.

Food was just shocking . You really are paying for the drinks that are help yourself. Staff are busy and clear regularly , big que out the door. You can do better .

Really worth it best on foot or bike off the old railway line Car parking but limited. But really worth visiting.

Great little find! Out for the day and really fancied Sunday lunch. Hit the jackpot here! Made so welcome by Lauren and her staff. Nothing too much trouble. "Of course, no problem" response to every question. Loved that serve 2 sizes of meals as we tend to waste so much nowadays. The roast was delicious, real food cooked well and served with a smile. They even provided me with a takeaway dessert as I had no room for it at the time. We highly recommend.
