Nice Pub, very friendly and delicious food!

I hired The Royal Oak for my partners 30th birthday. Nicola the owner from our initial phone call to the party was very responsive and understood exactly what I wanted. The main barman Tom was very informative and professional. The service throughout the night was brilliant. The space was perfect for 30 people, a DJ, dance area and a small sitting area. The food was delicious we had finger foods (very generous portions!). We all had the best time! Roll on to my 30th next year, thank you Nicola and to your bar staff!

Fabulous freshly cooked food. We’ve visited twice. Paella was authentic. Roast dinner was the best I’ve had in a pub. Nicola is a welcoming host.

Our group of walkers came here for lunch on a quiet weekday. Service was superb and so helpful. We had rolls from the menu which were all delicious. Nice place to stop and we could not have wished for anything better. We will return next year. Its a nice pub with a small garden where you can watch the planes float by into Gatwick! They do Sunday roasts which we will try very soon!

What a gem of a place! Under new management and all we can say is wow! Tom and Nicola could not enough and so very welcoming! Just want to add dog friendly also! Hats off to the chef food was impeccable! Wow is all we could say! Worth the visit and once this little gem is out there I think it will be very popular!

What an amazing spot! We were staying at the Marriott in Lingfield and came across this gem. Tom behind the bar was an absolute pleasure and told us exactly what we should order and everything came out above and beyond. Tom is the best example you can find for English hospitality and we will definitely be back, maybe tomorrow and the next day and every time we visit! Thanks again Royal Oak!

The food is excellent especially the fish dishes. To start I had asparagus with crispy poached egg and my partner had panko prawns and we followed this with moules marinere with homemade foccacia and my partner had steak and prawns with chimichurri sauce. All cooked fresh to order and perfectly cooked. Friendly welcoming bar staff and also had a chat with the chef.

We were a party of 10 and everything from the service to the food was amazing.! The roast lamb was 10/10 and so was every other meat.! We will certainly be back.!

We came here for the Sunday roast, the food was good and the portion is huge. The owner was friendly and came over and had a quick chat. There's an outdoor seating as well.

I had driven buy and saw a sign to say all euro games on went in around 930pm not many people in for football but owners changed channels to show the football Spain France they are the new owners Nicolette and simon what a breath of fresh air such a lovely positive couple know customers service for real will go for dinner ASAP or Sunday lunch ASAP please treat yourself to there fantastic atmosphere that create a genuine passion for excellent service ill complete this review once ive tried there food but from what I feltt its going to be amazing id start booking tables for Christmas now this place will so popular very soon Gary

Chance find in August 2022, very friendly place & made a good friend there who i'm still in contact with to this day, it's places like this that make some spontaneous out of work trips so memorable.

Popped in for some lunch with my sister on Saturday 20th April. Staff really friendly, food absolutely fantastic. Best seafood chowder I have ever had. We will definitelybe back to sample some more from their menu.

It was our second trip to the Royal Oak for a Sunday roast and I’ll definitely be returning for a third visit. The Vegan roast is huge, I had mushroom wellington this time which was delicious. My meat eating partner enjoyed his and said the beef was great. I loved the Vegan Biscoff cheesecake for dessert. I never usually have dessert because it’s normally a cop out like sorbet for Vegans! The people that run the place are also lovely and make an effort to chat to you. Dog friendly as well, which is a bonus.

The caterered 9 of us for breakfast, the lady working was so attentive and friendly, keeping our pots of tea and coffee fresh. The food was good and plenty of it, for the price I was unsure on quantity but was just right. Even my son finished his breakfast and he is usually a bit fussy. "Scrambled egg was amazing"

Cosy pub with friendly atmosphere, lovely Christmasy decoration and that vegan breakfast! sooo yummy and filling. Visited with friend and our dogs one rainy morning and had lovely time, it was so warm inside! . Must go back to try more food. Top Pub!

Went well from the start, with 1 of the staff welcoming me on arrival (in rambling gear) and pleasantly checked about the rest of the group, who arrived a few minutes later. Nice homely interior with a good traditional bar scene. Had 1 round of drinks, then set off for our walk, returning at 3pm for a late lunch. Having been encouraged to order during our first visit, the food soon arrived: nicely presented, piping hot where it should have been, and plenty of it. Throughout our time there, we were made to feel appreciated for our custom. Not local, but would gladly return.

I enjoyed a tasty meal at The Royal Oak in Dormansland today. They serve both their breakfast menu and lunch menu at lunch time and there is a good choice for people who choose a vegan diet as well those who enjoy meat. Prices are reasonable and portions are sizeable. Staff are cheerful and efficient. Will definitely go again.

Just light sandwich and some chips. Well the roast beef sandwich was bang on, massive blow of chips and I mean massive and chicken nuggets to die for. What to say ? You are welcomed as if you were local (we're from France) by lovely people who serve good homemade meals. We come to regret not having a place like this near us. Thank you once again for the welcome and the good food (breakfast and meals)

What a great pub. owners very friendly and the pub is nice and clean. We had 2 Vegan meals, the pie was lovely and was a very good size. My other half had the vegan fish and chips which was also very nice. We will be back.

Popped in for a quick thirst quench and decided on a quick bite for lunch. Amazing cheese sandwich, and sausage baguette.

LOVE THIS PUB! Really nice service and didn’t expect the fruit salad which came with the scampi & chips were this good! They were generous offering more prawns when knowing we are sharing a main. The cheesecake was good too.

Had the most amazing Sunday Lunch at The Royal Oak in Dormansland, a lovely little villiage in Sussex So much choice for us and the kids, owners are vegan and such great hosts. All their desserts were vegan, they even have Mr Whippy ice cream for the kids. We found them on the Happy Cow app. So glad we went, it was my son’s birthday too and they made such a fuss of him. If you’re ever near do pop in, you won’t be disappointed!

I had been told by some friends that this pub(under new management) serves lovely vegan food, so decided to try it out.They have a separate vegan menu,which not only offers a good choice of starters and mains, but also has a selection of vegan desserts,which is often missing in other pubs. I thoroughly enjoyed the dishes,they truly tasted of homecooked food,and the portions were ample too.Lovely ambience as well, and the staff were very helpful and friendly.I shall definitely return!

If you’re looking for a high quality, delicious and beautifully cooked breakfast - look no further! We have searched for a breakfast like this for some time and couldn’t be more pleased with our experience at The Royal Oak. Expect a really warm, friendly welcome, piping hot food, excellent coffee, and good sized portions. So pleased to see the food served properly (not all stacked up on top of each other like we’ve had elsewhere), probably the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever eaten, black pudding cooked so it’s still moist with a good quality sausage and plenty of mushrooms too. We will most definitely be back … in fact we going back there today!!!

We went to the Royal Oak for breakfast and it was fantastic. The vegan breakfast and kiddies breakfast was amazing. So happy that this has opened up in Dormansland. The family who run it are very friendly and kind and very welcoming to children to. Definitely the Best pub around, with the best food and such a lovely atmosphere. The prices are great for quality and the large portions. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go again and excited to try their lunch and dinner too.

Just had a wonderful breakfast at The Royal Oak in Dormansland. I had smoked salmon, avocado, poached eggs and spinach. They also do vegetarian and vegan options. Very friendly and welcoming.

Absolutely great service from a newly opening pub! Definitely going to return. 8 of us on motorbikes showed up yesterday after looking for a place to stop and eat. We didn’t have the chance to give the pub prior warning to all of us coming down but they were super friendly and accepting of us. Very accommodating and wonderful home made food! Spoke to the owner, the chef & the staff and all of them were very friendly and wanted to know how everything was. This is the making of a great pub and I can’t wait to go back when I get the chance.

New people are moving in & only open Thursday to Sunday until they have fully moved.

Very nice british cuisine. I had fish and chips and my partner had a veg burger, both very nice. Very friendly staff, the chef came out to check whether we were happy with veggie burger.

Had a lovely family lunch yesterday, the roast is amazing! Definitely recommend! People are lovely!.

My Mum and I thought we would have lunch here after a morning at Chartwell. We parked and got out of the car across the street. I caught a whiff of stale fat smell. I said to my mum, we decided if it was coming from the pub we wouldn't stay. We opened the door and the sme!l of stale fat hit us. I noted that the place was pretty empty.I We came out and went elsewhere and won't return. All eating places should be aware that the smell of stale fat is unforgivable, and if they are trying to save money they will lose a lot of custom doing so.

Thank you so much Dominic and team for making my Mum and I so welcome on Saturday , for a really tasty lunch and great Harveys beer. I hope to be back again soon .

Myself and partner were back in the area after some time away and thought we would have another meal here and we were not disappointed. Tried the sunday roast this time and my partner had the burger. Both were exceptional meals served by lovely people. On the other side of the pub were the locals who once again were so welcoming. We dont live in the UK anymore but its so nice to still find an old fashioned pub that serves great traditional tasty food.

Very welcoming pub, homemade food all week and the Sunday roasts are fantastic, Check the roast potatoes are vegetarian if ordering a veggie roast, as you will be catered for.

This local pub was once a nice place to go and eat, Shame but things have now changed, would highly recommend people not to go there, the food isn’t great and the service is soooooo poor. Beer is flat and warm, go to anyone of the other local pubs and you won’t be dissatisfied, AVOID

We tried out The Royal Oak for lunch as we had not been there for a long time. For a Friday lunch time it was very quiet, only one other table of 6 there and a couple of people in the bar area. There were no specials that day although the notice board had some options written on it ( two options on the main menu referred to checking the specials board), and a couple of other things on the main menu were not available. We ordered a macaroni cheese and a chicken wrap with fries. However the waitress then informed us there were no wraps . I declined ciabatta - I avoid heavy bread which is why I chose the wrap. What came was some very overdone fried chicken goujons and a tiny pot of mayonnaise which I`d asked for as the sauce. The salad garnish was really poor - a few bitter chunks of the heart of lettuce, the bit you don`t normally eat, some squares of chopped raw white onion and a couple of slices of tomato. We won`t be going back.

My dad visits every Tuesday and today my sister and I, family friends and our two dogs joined him. The couple who own the pub are very hard working and caring. They go out of their way to ensure you are happy with the food and the portion sizes are great, my dad has to ask for small portions! If I lived nearer I would visit more often.

On recent visit had excellent Harvey's Best and lamb burger. Good quality and very reasonable. Friendly staff and locals.

Had lunch here food OK. Staff rude and made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. I would suggest that there are plenty of places to eat so I would go elsewhere, shall never return.

An amazing Sunday roast today. Loads of everything, all beautifully cooked, fabulous yorkshire puddings. Very hospitable landlords and staff.

This pub is a welcoming country pub and caters for all, the food is simply superb with helpful and friendly staff, you will not be able to fault the quality of food and the level of service, will of course return.

Have been here a few times for food, its always absolutely lovely, especially Sunday roast - home cooked, big portions and great value. I love the fact that there is a separate area for dining, which is completely different to the pub, very light and nicely decorated. Staff are always very attentive, friendly and welcoming. Very quiet little country pub, highly recommended!

Un pub moderno con una buena selección en el menú. El asado del domingo era abundante y sabroso, pero no excepcional. El interior es muy limpia y muy amplia. El servicio fue bueno, aunque tuve que pedir comida en el bar.

First time eating in the Royal Oak since it has been refurbished, reasonably busy on a Friday night but not heaving, ideal for a meal out with friends, barmaid (are you still allowed to say that!!!!) was really good great service drink arrived quickly and we decided from the menu, 2 of us had burgers 1 ribs & 1 gammon and eggs, all without exception said they were very very good, I had the New Yorker and have to say it was perfect, Guinness was good, not sure of the cost as the other couple paid but the prices on the menu were very reasonable

Fui el sábado por la noche, el restaurante es encantador y bien decorado. La señora de detrás de la barra nos sirve ella fue muy amable. Había las comidas habituales en el menú, y una tabla de ofertas especiales. Yo tenía un queso de Nueva York y bacon burger que era absolutamente increíble, mi marido tuvo sobresaliente, huevos y patatas fritas y uno de mi grupo tenía casero pastel de carne con cerveza y la otra persona tenía pescado y patatas fritas, ninguno de nosotros podría criticar nuestras comidas o el tamaño de las porciones. Todos tuvimos los budines así que eran deliciosas. Nos atendieron muy bien y disfrutamos de una velada encantadora. Lo único que no me gustó fue la gente caminando a través de ir fuera a fumar, de lo contrario una agradable noche.

Llevé a mi familia aquí para extender el almuerzo de domingo después de oír cómo popular la comida era y no me decepcionó.

Fuimos aquí el sábado pasado con un grupo grande. Les dimos pedirnos una orden un par de días antes de la fecha de llegada. Toda la comida salió bien y calientes, y al mismo tiempo. Tuve gambas y patatas fritas, que era muy agradable. Me hubiera gustado patatas fritas preferidas de patatas fritas pero me han dicho que ya que están dispuestos a modificar estas si lo pides. hamburguesas estaban muy sabroso, hay un par de ofertas especiales en, la última semana fue pescado tarta o hígado y tocino. Mi amigo tenía el pastel de pescado y nos encantó. Teníamos mis niños pequeños con nosotros para la comida, y estaban más que felices con su hamburguesa y pollo. Mi hijo de 7 años se resbaló con su flan y pedimos helados. Lo intentó su brownie de chocolate primos y me ha hecho promesa para llevarlo de vuelta a tener uno de los suyos. El servicio era bueno, que ha tenido recientemente una reforma y el bar y el restaurante independientes y ambos tienen un bar. Agradable relajado.

We called in for a late lunch as there was only two other diners this was not a problem, we ordered a half pound burger chips and salad, and beef stew, it took about fifteen minutes to come the landlady was serving us with her mobile phone stuck under her chin talking on it all the time.

El Royal Oak está recientemente remodelado con un área grande del restaurante. La comida es buena comida de pub tradicional calidad, sin pretensiones, buena comida casera. A todo el grupo estaba encantado con su comida. Realmente vale la pena una visita. Para un grupo de 16 esta noche muy eficientemente.

Metimos en aquí con mi otra mitad después de un par de copas en el arado justo al final de la carretera. Muy pequeño pub con una agradable zona de comedor en el otro lado del bar. La gente era muy amable como era la señora que sirve bebidas. Los baños estaban excepcionalmente limpias. Lo que de verdad necesita más asientos y mesas. Quizás repensar la mesa de billar y añadir más. En general bastante impresionado.

Solía vivir en Dormansland hace 2 años, volví a visitar el Royal Oak hoy . Tenía un fantástico desayuno, tuve la Reina, él tenía los reyes, era delicioso y con una buena relación calidad-precio caliente por dinero. Una gran ventaja es que son muy doggy amable ... nos eligió para sentarse en el jardín ya que era los calurosos días pero estaban más que dispuestos a nuestro perrito ir adentro con nosotros y le dieron una doggy regalo de galleta. Los nuevos propietarios tomaron hace más de 6 meses, una pareja encantadora que han decorado y cambió el pub para el "mejor" una enorme mejora.

Primera visita al establecimiento en muchos años, que ha tenido una renovación reciente en uno de sus lados, por lo que es claro y brillante. El menú del desayuno es buena, sin embargo habría sido mejor si se ofrece una selección de pan marrón o blanco. la comida caliente. Las mesas pinta nd fresca, azúcar necesita ser cubierta como la izquierda desenterrado atrae pequeños dedos. El personal podría haber un uniforme de aspecto más profesional, este es mi punto de vista

Situado en la calle High Street concurrida no es un típico pub. Como entras te reciben con montón de personas locales que pasar la mayor parte del agua potable del día. La mirando fijamente, como entras, no te hace sentir bien. La comida es mejor que lo que solía ser, pero nada del otro mundo. El personal es amable, pero los propietarios arrogante lleno de importancia propia.

Visitamos este pub ya que estábamos en la zona visitando amigos. Aunque el interior tiene un aspecto un poco cansado es tan limpia como una patena y los baños tienen obviamente ha sido renovado a un alto nivel. Nos dieron una cálida bienvenida cálida de no sólo el personal del bar, pero también los habitantes de la zona. La comida llegó rápidamente, caliente, sabroso y un tamaño fantástico de la porción. En general la experiencia fue estupenda y un final perfecto para un día precioso.

Nuevo evento en el Royal Oak una noche temática 15 2014 mayo. Esto era español, así que sangría y un menú con la posibilidad de comprar vino español para acompañar comidas. Los comensales comparten una mesa, así podría ser sociable y disfrutar de la comida y la bebida. Encantador ambiente y música española para completar el ambiente. Busque otros eventos temáticos buena relación calidad-precio y un cambio encantador. El calamar fue preparado perfectamente.

Habiendo tenido una visita promedio / almuerzo en el arado pensamos en llamar al Oak para tomar un trago en nuestro camino a casa.

Me alojé en el Royal Oak con algunos amigos gracias a los edificios hermoso exterior. Una vez dentro de la buena sensación continuó gracias a una cálida bienvenida por parte de la pareja casera. El ambiente era muy divertido, ayudado por unas deliciosas cervezas frescas de degustación. Tuvimos unas cuantas grandes platos caseros sencillas de degustación, entorno nuestro grupo perfectamente para un día en las carreras en Lingfield Park.
