Went for Sunday lunch very disappointing. We had been many times in the past and thought the food and service was excellent, cannot say that now. Don't think we will go back unless it improves.

We stayed here as a family weekend of 19/20 October. It seems there has been a change in ownership management recently and the new people are settling in. Rooms: first glance look great, but lots of little niggles which just needs looking into. Suspect they are problems which just didn't get dealt with by previous management. However, warm, cosy and comfortable. Food: we only had breakfast. First day was excellent. Great quick service and quality food. Second morning not so efficient. However, not fault of staff/owner. There was an absence in kitchen, so only one person for cooking and serving. People in our party offered help, and it was graciously accepted, turning a problem into an experience instead. A lot of people would turn down help out of 'ego', so accepting help is the mark of person without ego. Service: great customer service. From arrival, to adapting some room allocation, to breakfast the team were attentive, proactive, respectful, funny and kind. Overall, yep a few niggles but not all the fault of new owners. Yep, I'd go back.

Interesting starters not least huge portions. Mains were salmon and mine was jerk chicken. I was concerned that the chicken would be very spicy but it was ok. We arrived at 1915 to find only one other table occupied, and when we left after our meal about 2034-45 leaving the waiter alone. Nice food huge portions! Toilets clean and very well appointed.

Poor AVOID - listed as 3 star, the rooms are 2 star at best. Overpriced. - TV not working - it was an aerial TV bodged into a satellite socket in the wall - no wonder it didn't pick up any stations. Needs a satellite box at least. - Shower poor & falling apart, handle falling off, door tracks broken, duct tape holding up parts, floor felt like it would give way if you stood in the wrong spot. - Electrics to the room kettle highly dodgy, bare outer insulation on the extension strip. - Wind whistling through the corridor from a missing ceiling / loft access hatch. Find some where else IMHO - this place is ok on the surface, but the rooms are rough and breakfast no better! VERY poor value for money, with, in hindsight, too many 10 out of 10 reviews from anonymous posters. :( Booking.com not taking more reservations - I guess thats to stop the bad reviews? We arrived to find out the restaurant door was shut then a lady came asking what we want we said we have a booking at 2.30 she went away to check She advised us oh yes you do but the chef has left for the day!! On their web site details it said it closes at 5.00 pm but obviously this is not the case. We then at to try and find an alternative but not easy on a Sunday afternoon We eventually went to a small friendly restaurant who made us welcome. This leaves us feeling disappointed with this restaurant.

As a family we have been to The Bakery many times over the years and it had always lived up to its 5* rating. However we went yesterday evening with family again to celebrate our wedding anniversary not realising that it was now under new management, the available web site was still as before so we were confident that nothing had changed. What a disappointment, to begin with both front and back entrances were locked (for security reasons) really! our daughter had to let us in! Although the I assume manager was pleasant enough the service was abysmal and very unprofessional, waiting an hour for our starters was unacceptable to say the least. My son-in-laws main course was incorrect when it eventually arrived and after three and a half hours we were not offered desserts or coffee as one would expect. Food was ok but nowhere near the standard that we have previously had at this restaurant. Safe to say we will not be visiting again!!! P S perhaps the web site should be updated as it now gives the wrong impression as to the expected standard of this establishment.

The accomodation was well decorated and nice and clean, we have no problem with that at all.. The breakfast was well cooked and tasty. However during breakfast the managers/ owners allowed their toddler to scream and play throughout, making so much noise we couldn't hear the couple on the next table we were trying to have a conversation with. It wasn't acceptable and noone tried to stop the child running around screaming. It was also not a safe place for her, with hot food and drinks around. We left as soon as we could. Not sure if this was a one off but it did seem as though there was no alternative child care apart from the diners.

On arrival informed that there was no chef and had not had a chef for 5 weeks. Place smell of moth balls. What looked like the owners were eating round a table said they would 'sort me out' presumably with food. No thanks! OMG what has happened to the much loved Bakery.

Back entrance door locked on arrival. No one answered the phone number posted on the door - we had to look. Musty smell like mothballs in the common areas. Poor maintenance - loose shower door, wobbly toilet seat, kettle didn’t work because of broken extension lead. Very inaccurate description. It is advertised as a restaurant with rooms. No restaurant in apparent operation. I booked months’ ago for a birthday treat. My money was taken, and I was then informed that the dinner I had booked was off due to a problem in the kitchen. It was all highly embarrassing as this was a birthday treat for my friend. There was a transfer of responsibility around Jun-24.

Arrived Saturday at 17.15. Back security entrance door locked. No one answered the phone number posted on the door. It went to voicemail.. We had to go looking. Tired looking decor. Funny musty smell in the common areas. Room very dusty with old furniture. Appliance and lighting wires running off an extension lead that didn't work. The shower door came off in my hand, and the tray dipped to one side. The description was very misleading. It is advertised as a restaurant with rooms. There was no restaurant in operation or high-end cuisine available. My money was taken as agreed, and I was informed after this that the lovely dinner I had booked was off. It was all highly embarrassing as this was a birthday treat for my friend. After some research, we discovered that there had been a transfer of responsibility around Jun-24. I had booked way before this. The moral of the story is always recheck the details before your money is taken and the booking finalised. The wonderful visit to Hever Castle on saved the weekend.

We have been going to the Bakery for over 20 years, last time was last year. Andrew is no longer working in the restaurant and has appointed a Manager. What a disappopintment,it was chaotic even though there were only three couples in the restaurant. Manager was polite but didnt have a clue, the food was not great either, new chef who I feel has a limited budget and it showed. No bread to start, dessert menu was boring, food was overcooked. Such a shame we wont be going back again.

Went here for dinner with my wife. The service was way below par. When we ordered a bottle of wine and a bottle of water the server just put it on the table and walked away. No wine cooler, didn’t open or poor the wine and didn’t open or poor the water - she just plonked it on the table. The ambiance was dire. There was 1 table there when we arrived and they left before our main meal came out and then there was 1 new table arriving as we were leaving. So during our meal we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The was no background music or anything - other than our own conversation the only thing we could hear was the football being played on the TV in the bar. The food was not nice at all. We both ordered the lamb and it was very tough. I ate about half of mine and my wife had even less of hers. We also ordered bread and butter for the table and that was the best part of the whole meal.

Went here for a meal with my wife and was looking forward to it given the reviews. However, the service is way below par, we ordered a bottle of wine and it was just plonked on the table - not even opened - and the food is ‘meh’ at best (the best part was the bread and butter). We ordered the lamb and it was very tough (it offered me outside for a fight twice, that’s how tough it was!). It’s a shame because it’s in a lovely area but for £92 for a bottle of wine and 2 main courses (plus a few bits of bread) I would expect much better.

The Bakery is under new ownership and it shows. The menu is shorter, but that is no bad thing as the chef can concentrate on his main dishes.. The chef is very good and all our food was lovely. Tony, who is the "main man" front of house was on holiday so things did run as smoothly as they might have done. I think they just need time to settle in and take stock. Have been here previously for Lunch back in April, lunch was really good so decided to come back for the evening dinner for our 21st anniversary. Very disappointed this time round, the prawn starters I ordered were raw inside. £12 for 6 prawns, they took it back to the kitchen and cooked it a bit longer. Was really surprised when they bought it back out it was still raw inside, it didn't taste like it just came off the pan, no heat to it, almost like it was taken in wait a while and taken out again, and this time there was only 5 prawns, they took the one I bit into off the plate and just returned the rest to me. Wasn't happy with this at all, would off thought they bring out a new dish or at the very least give the correct amount I ordered. Decided to cancel My starter and watch my wife eat hers, at this point it's an hour since we arrived and there was only 2 other table. The potato cubes that came with the main course was dehydrated from leaving it under the heat lamp for too long and hard to bite, probably prepared much earlier. I know this as we had the same one on previous visit and they were really good back then (our lunch visit we were the only table). No apology from the waiter and he just said that's how the chef likes to do it, my response was you cannot give customers raw food.. By his body language he didn't seem too bothered. In my previous visit I tipped the waiter £10, on this visit I gave him £5 due to the issues. But now in hindsight I don't think I should off given any as it ruined my meal. I feel they should have done more to resolve the problem but didn't. Won't be going back there.

Hit and miss so depending on when you go. My lunchtime visit was great so I thought I give it a try in the evening. Won’t be going back, prawns were raw on the inside, didn’t rectify the issue, took it in and tried to cook it but I knew they didn’t do anything, just waited 5 minutes and bought it back out as the prawns were cold, just said that’s how the chef does it. Chips were so hard it could off been sitting there under the heat lamp since they opened. Terrible experience,

Unfortunately the restaurant was unable to provide the starter and mains that I was hoping for. Whitebait and jerk chicken. I have eaten the jerk chicken here before and it was excellent. The starter this time was very very good. Unfortunately the rib eye steak was tough and not cheap. Probably a bad choice on my part. Suggest that if the proprietor wants to charge that price they source their meat elsewhere

We recently visited the Bakery and not quite sure how to describe it I guess it’s a little bit like their menu. Salmon tartare is not salmon tartare it’s sliced smoked salmon, wagyu beef is most certainly not wagyu, but nice roast beef. Then pudding warm pear and tart is just a pear tart. Finally was told, that my payment didn’t go through so paid again and was reassured if there are any issues to phone back for a refund. The payment came out twice phoned for a refund was told, that it didn’t show as double payment their end and not to stress about it any further help offered. So would I go back or recommend the place, probably not.

What a gem this place is! I couldn't believe that the restaurant wasn't full of locals. The hotel side is delightful. The rooms are super clean and well presented. The mattress in Room 1 could do with replacing but I'm not going to knock the score. The restaurant - for both evening meal and breakfast - is exceptional. It's abundantly clear that every ingredient has been so carefully chosen (the ribeye steak is absolutely worth the price tag!) and everything is then so carefully cooked. Nothing is spared a careful attention to detail, even the bread basket with supper and the toast basket in the morning carries a range of high quality bread types. If you're passing through: stay here. If you live in the area, dine here!

I had the goats and walnut salad starter which was gorgeous, followed by the Beef, veg including cauliflower in a cheese sauce, yorkshires, delicious. 2 of us had the prawn cocktails with a horseradish sauce as a starter, which was different without the usual mary rose sauce, not to their taste, but that’s a choice. Everyone had the beef, it melted in the mouth. 2 shared a pudding. I was treated to a bottle of rose champagne we shared, really lovely. The bar area was busy and buzzy. Thankyou Andrew and staff.

The selection on the menu was ideal - difficult to choose as there were quite a few I would have liked. We went for the sharing steak and enjoyed every mouthful. The service was friendly and knowledgeable about each aspect of the menu. We couldn't fault any of the entire experience, and the breakfast the following morning was perfect.

Unfortunately it wasn't the cleanest place we've been to, the sheets had a stale smell and the restaurant and Bar area really smells of Dogs or something and the floor was filthy!! Wouldn't stay there again. Disappointed..

The Bakery at Tatsfield is a lovely local restaurant. The menu is nice and somewhat varied. A nice selction of wines, and also by the glass which is good. The staff are nice, and Tony who serves is is very friendly and helpful. Worth a visit.

This is in a lovely spot in the nice quiet village of Tatsfield. It isn't the biggest restaurant. but the food was absolutely lovely. I had Venison & it was by far the best bit of Venison I'd ever had. I will definitely be dining at The Bakery again.

I had a fantastic Sunday roast at The Station Pub. The food was top-notch, the service was impeccable, and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The friendly staff made for a truly enjoyable dining experience

Stopped here en route to LGW. Very nice breakfast and good service, reasonably priced and only 15 minutes from the airport. Parking out the front or just opposite in an open car park. Will definitely visit again rather than an over-priced meal at the airport.
