Hi Jo and the team It was so nice to pop in the other day for a pint and catch up at The Plough It's such a welcoming environment, and the staff are so helpful and friendly It's clearly a very popular place to visit as it has a really great lunchtime and evening trade, and you can see and feel why... The freshly prepared meals that are ordered come out in a really great time and are served by a staff team with a smile and there is nothing too much to ask for, and it shows, and the place has so much character. I am looking forward to my/ our next visits very soon. Thai or special board 🤔 All the best Kevin x

We wanted to try the food there for a long time. We decided to give it a try today, as the weather was nice. We were not disappointed. My wife had the pork crackling, tender and tasty. I had the fish, cooked to perfection, with greens and potatoes and a tasty lemon sauce. Really pleased with the food. And the choice of 2 types of cider, a dry & a sweet one. Perfect Sunday, we'll definitely add The Plough Inn to our list of great pubs around home to bring family when visiting us. The service was on the slow side, but the place is cosy... And it was Sunday 😁

I love this pub as it has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. I had a delicious Sunday roast recently and my family also said how much they enjoyed their meals as well ☺️

We arrived in the pouring rain and the car park was like a lake. To avoid my disabled wife having to walk through the water, I parked my car parallel to the grass. A member of staff waited until we reached the door before asking me to move the car to the far side of the car park. I was livid and got soaked after moving it. The food was very slow in arriving and other customers who arrived after us were seved before us. My wife ordered fishcakes which she didn't eat as they were tasteless. We have visited this pub many times but won't hurry back

Today we visited our local for a Sunday Lunch after many years ..! I have to say the meal was amazing as were the staff..Having visited other establishments recently this certainly was the best. Just wish we had realised what a gem we had on our doorstep.Thank you Jo and your splendid team we will be returning.. x

Hey all I wanted to forward our thanks for a lovely Saturday evening It was the 1st time that we had eaten, and it was Thai on the menu The staff team was so welcoming, and with a little assistance from one of the team, we made our choices All of the choices were vegetarian, and all were really tasty and nicely presented It was a really busy evening, and the team was working flat out, but all of the team were all so attentive and helpful The whole experience was spot on, and we will be visiting again very soon The main menu served on other days has really diverse meals available, including plenty of vegetarian options plus specials on the board What a lovely anniversary ❤️ Kevin and Kathy (table 6) xxx

Update: Unfortunately, I have been disappointed by the quality of the food the last couple times we have ordered a Thai takeaway. Perhaps the chef has changed? Whatever the reason, the Thai food seems to lack the incredible quality it used to have. Still a lovely pub, but I can't strongly recommend the Thai food anymore. Previous review: The Thai food is incredible, possibly the best Thai food we've ever had! We loved everything we tried, especially the Pad Thai (#46), the Pad Kra Prao (#24), and the Lab Kai (#16). I'd recommend trying the coconut rice too! Cannot recommend the Thai food enough!

Fantastico. Met with a few friends. Sat in the sunny garden. Ordered 3 dishes to pick at, between us. Lovely. The girls were understaffed. They did tell me food only in front garden. However they were brilliant. Just an all round lovely lunchtime.

Popped in here whilst out cycling and myself and my friend both had the Gammon one with chips and the other with bubble and squeak. Food was really nice only gripe was the bubble and squeak was mainly veg and was watery. It’s a fantastic old pub with plenty of outside tables and gardens to the front side And rear. Savvanah was a great waitress and made a right fuss of my dog

Ate there last night. Hadn't booked and it was very busy, however the young lady behind the bar couldn't have been more helpful. She found us a table and brought our drinks over. The number of dishes on the menu will satisfy even the most picky of palates. There wasn't one dish out of the 8 we ordered that wasn't authentic, seriously tasty and reasonably priced. Despite being so busy the service was excellent too - 4 different people, each one engaging, polite and with a smile. The whole experience was uplifting and the food was everything we hoped for and more. One of the best meals out this year.

Visiting the area and found this gem of a pub. Very welcoming and both the vegetarian and carnivore were blown away by the Thai food, best we've eaten. Will try to go again before we leave.

Stopped doing food, well normal British menu, car park is always rammed, street outside rammed, ignorant people parking on public verges because they are to lazy, poor local people they must hate these lazy people, one would ask how they can be in a pub for hours and then drive

On this occasion we only stopped for drinks but I do love the food here. Everyone is so friendly and happy to help.

Pleasant traditional country pub. Plenty of car parking. Disabled access a bit tricky due to steps. Mainly Thai menu, which is extensive and very yummy.

Previously only been there for drinks and bar snacks and it was ok. Heard that they had good Sunday roast,so took my youngest there for Sunday dinner. Came in a approached the bar and asked for a table,and the owner was there and almost shouted,"Do you have a reservation?" No smile, no greetings, just a pretty much rude challenge. It actually was not that crowded there so this woman owner , kind of sneered at me and said " go sit at that table over there and someone will get your order. No drink order, just go over there and sit down. Well we literally sat there for 35 minutes and were completely ignored. After which we left . I will never go there again. Not even for a drink. Very rude owner woman. Also there is a small deep lake in the car park. So put your waders on. Seems like a real local place,and apparently the owner does not like new customers. Absolutely horrendous treatment. Shameful for a restaurant/ pub owner to be so rude.

We were recommended this pub for a Thai meal. Went early in the week. Loved the pub, very cosy and the staff were super. But, sorry to say, the Thai food was a let down. We had ribs which we couldn’t eat. They were in a watery saice and really did not appear fresh. The currys were also in a thin sauce and in our opinion lacked flavour. The stir fried veg however were lovely - very fresh. To be fair the staff were apologetic and took the ribs off the bill and we were given drinks. The coffee was excellent. Perhaps the chef was not there that evening because friends went the following week and had a terrific meal. Maybe we will try again!

What more can one say than exceptional Thai food, exceptional service in a rustic British Pub atmosphere. This pub is always very busy and that comes as no promise.

We made a last minute booking after covid cancelled other plans and we're so glad we did. They were busy with a great atmosphere, but service was very good with lots of the staff coming to check on us. The food as always was really good, slight mix up meant the starter arrived with the mains, but that was fine. A lovely evening ☺️

We came to try Fat Will's but it was underwhelming generally. Burgers were ok but definitely nothing special. My boys complained they had too much squeezy cheese on the chicken ones. At £15 each I felt they were overpriced. One nice waitress but the other one was not friendly and left us with the impression that we were an inconvenience. The desert menu advertised by Fat Wills and on the website was not the one that appeared in the pub. The belgian waffle was a packet waffle with one scoop of ice cream for £8 and not even warm - rip off! The cheesecake was straight out of the freezer - my son was cutting it with a knife it was so hard. Again overpriced. Disappointing as our Thai experience was much better.

Was given a table, then waited over 30 minutes before being served. To be told sorry kitchen closed 10 minutes ago. Manager had to apologise. Finally got food within 7 minutes. No discount given. Poor.

Can't quite understand why we have left it 13 years to come back here. It's not changed a bit. The Plough is what a pub should be, catering for locals, diners & dogs! We had a wonderful welcome, served out drinks almost straight away, even though the bar was busy. Lovely, friendly atmosphere, attentive staff & the food & really good. We thought the prices were reasonable for what we had to eat & drink. Our dog got as much attention as we did from the staff which made us laugh lots. We most definitely won't be leaving such a huge time gap for out next return.

Disappointed with the Thai food tonight. We’ve eaten here on many occasions and tonight’s meal was by far the worst food we’ve had. The butterfly grilled prawns were poorly deveined and arrived with no marinade so were therefore dry when served with the boiled rice. The rice arrived in a chipped boil. When I tried to alert the manager to the issues she was quite dismissive albeit she did bring extra marinade out. Other bar and waiting staff were very apologetic and gave good service. Hopefully this was just a bad night as normally the food here is really good.

We went to this pub with friends as I have been told that the Thai food here is excellent but as I love Thai food and have been to many fine Thai restaurants I beg to differ I’m afraid. The pub itself is really old and atmospheric and is very buzzy but it’s almost impossible to get a drink at the bar as so many regulars just sit around and stand by it which is extremely frustrating as I had to shout my drinks order across people at the bar who just don’t really care and carry on chatting regardless as if you were invisible ( Rude, and should be stopped by the landlord/landlady immediately as it is a small bar ) Enjoyed the mixed starters but my friends ordered the Thai Beef salad which they love, but this was very poor and nothing like the ones they had before, saying it lacked the proper taste and no sauce, no heat and was very sweet ( Should have lime, fish sauce, chilli and slight sugar ) I ordered the whole sea bass which come in fillets, and that’s the first time I have ever ordered this dish in a Thai restaurant without the whole fish coming out, so they should alter that on the menu as I’m sure that the fillets just come out of a frozen pack from the supermarket ! However it was a lovely evening and the ambiance was superb, and we enjoyed it there enormously but will not be returning for the Thai food, but for drinks and a roast dinner if I can get to the bar and order !!!

The food was spectacular. Great atmosphere and lovely staff! It was also a perfect place to lose a wallet ... it was found, stored and returned intact the following day. I will eat there again on principle whenever in the area. 😀

Excellent lunch here today. Choice of Thai menu or English pub restaurant menu. Both equally good. Food was excellent. One of us had Thai, the other had English menu. Staff & service also very good. Will be back

The Plough has always had a good reputation for food and it did not disappoint. We had starters of Prawns Tempura and Pork Spare Ribs which were both superb in taste and quantity. My main course was Prawn Pad Thai and Sweet & Sour Beef - it was stupendous. My partner's Seabass with rice was just as good. From an old English pub, one doesn't expect superb Thai food but this offering beats any dedicated Thai restaurant in the area.

Dropped in for a pint and some food at lunchtime following a circular walk from the Plough. We arrived and were able to go in with our dog. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, even offered a bowl of water and a couple of biscuits for our dog. They were serving Thai food with an extensive menu of Thai food. The food was very authentic and made with fresh ingredients and was outstanding. Amongst the best Thai food that I have had in the UK. Will definitely be back again 👍

I have eaten at the Plough a few times now and never been disappointed. The food, especially the Thai menu is excellent. It is always hot, nicely cooked, really tasty, well presented and the portions are filling to say the least. The bar staff and waitresses are polite, friendly and attentive. Regardless of some previous reviews you cannot in fairness fault the service. Bar prices are average for the area and the food is very good value for the quality you are served. A few considerations if you are visiting. The car park is small and you can end up parking a fair way along the road if it is busy. The interior is quite cramped, having steps to enter and different floor levels. The ceiling is low with some beams so mind your head. There is indoor and outdoor seating, it is dog friendly, I would most certainly book before attending at weekends. It's a really nice traditional English village pub, well worth a visit.

Had the Fat Will's lamb burger along with a side of hot wings. Really good burger, and the wings hit the spot too with just the right amount of spice.

Had food from the Thai restaurant section. It was the best I've ever had. Loved it and look forward to eating there again. The service was excellent, and we felt well looked after. There was a party event on so it was quite loud and very busy but that wasn't a problem at all. Loads of outside seating and a cute restaurant area indoors. Overall, it is a lovely country pub with a Thai restaurant attached. Very dog friendly with towels, biscuits, and water bowls available. Parking is difficult when busy and quickly spills out of the carpark and chokes the local road.

The girls who served us very pleasant and hard working and attentive. The pub/ restaurant has a nice vibe, this was added by other people in the pub the clientele were families and couples. Not loud louts. We did not know what to choose from a very extensive Thai menu. This menu is large. So opted for the set meal. We liked all the food and choice in the set menu was very nice. Some of the starters were deep fried, as meant to be. However for some reason and not the first time my wife had upset tummy later, we think there something to do with cooking oil as it has happened before in other nice restaurants, this is NOT a reflection of the food. We just need to work out what oil is used. To avoid in future. We will return and alter, choose food not deep fried, Would recommend, but book.

How lovely it was to step inside this beautiful tavern - warm and cosy - and doing a good trade on a Friday winter’s lunchtime ! Really lovely food - very fresh and well presented - there’s even a very extensive Thai menu to run alongside traditional pub classics. Yes we would return !

Went to the plough today, called last minute and they managed to fit us in (table of 5 + high chair) within 45 mins of calling. Lovely cosy traditional pub. Greeted when we arrived and shown to table. Staff friendly and polite. Starters were lovely, and beef roast was absolutely delicious, best in area by far and lots of veg and potatoes. Kids meals were great, all 3 children cleared their plates. Busy but didn't have to wait long between courses at all. Deserts were also really good. Staff great with the children as well. First time coming here but we will definitely be returning. Thanks you all at The Plough!

Arrived at the plough, found our own table. Not greeted at all. Booked for 6pm finally approached by waitress at 6.25. Staff all chatting, on phones and one was eating. When we were eventually approached staff very friendly. Food was good although a questionable starter,...

Another top Thai delicious dinner and the usual excellent service. Such a great pub. We love it.

My advise is don’t book here . Rude , surly waitresses who would rather give filthy looks than make the occasion a happy one . They upset the Bride and Groom , messed up orders but spoke to the newly weds and guests as though...

Very busy, but lovely staff, good beer and food. Prices have gone up, but I can't blame them! Cosy, open fire pub. Yes please.

Great Thai food value for money

Ok portions, expensive, didn't quite get the expected quality given price. Dog friendly and booking the lady was very helpful and gave us an appropriate table for a bigger dog. Service started really well, friendly and fast, then simply disappeared, had to ask for the table to be cleared and dessert menus after waiting 40 minutes with staff constantly walking past (was very busy). Would try again on a different day as everything is resolvable and given popularity maybe we got unlucky this time.

We went for a Sunday roast. We were advised when we were seated that the service may be slow as they were short-staffed. The service was very slow, unfortunately it was also extremely rude. The waiting staff did not make eye contact when giving us our food and drinks, and were actually turned away from the table at the point of putting our food and drink on the table; such was their rush to get away. This was problematic when they provided me with the wrong drink but I could not tell them as they were facing away from me as they put it on our table. As we were only able to get the attention of the staff approximately once every 45 minutes, there was then no opportunity to get my drink changed afterwards. The staff did this on other tables as well, and we could see the look of offence on a neighbouring table when the vegetables for their main were eventually brought five minutes after their meal and thrown on their table without acknowledging the customers. This created an unpleasant atmosphere. I ordered a £7.95 "lemon sponge pudding" for dessert. I was given a slice of lemon cake. I didn't have an opportunity to say anything or change my dessert, as, again, the staff put the plate on the table whilst leaving. When we were able to ask for the bill, I said that I ordered a lemon sponge pudding but was given a slice of cake and the response from that member of staff was 'Well that's nothing to do with me" before immediately leaving. A different member of staff came to take payment and asked if everything was okay with our meal. I said that the service was rude, rushed without being quick, and that there were problems with my drink and dessert order. This member of staff defensively responded that the cake was homemade but did offer to get it deducted from the bill. She unfortunately was visibly shaking her head when walking away from our table afterwards. I found this dining experience actively offensive.

Friendly country inn offering a fine menu selection and choice of real ales. Cosy and characterful with plenty of outdoor seating - even sold locally produced honey at the bar.

We live around the corner, and thank goodness we do! This is a perfect local pub, with amazing food. It very friendly, and loves having dogs, which we love. We order Thai takeaways regularly from here, which is a superb option.

We had a wonderful meal today. All cooked to perfection. Friendly staff, good service. Food was great, with plenty of choice on the Sunday menu. We opted for roast beef, lamb shank. Apple and rhubarb crumble, poached pear. Delicious! Love love this pub!

The best halloumi fries I have had, great staff and a lovely garden

First time in my life I ordered an adult meal (short rib, 17,95) and went hungry. Normally order the children's menu because I eat very little so this was shocking. A portion of veg to go with meat and mash would have probably been enough.

The Thai food was absolutely delicious. We can thoroughly recommend a visit.
