We had the afternoon tea in celebration of my late mother 90 th birthday, she loved going to the houghwood with my late father. As per usual excellent food and service.

Friendly local pub with a relaxed atmosphere.

We’d been once before and really enjoyed it so came back with all the family. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming. The food is perfect for all, loads of options for me as a vegetarian, my Dad, who is Greek was really impressed with the authentic taste of the food and the children shared the tapas with all of us and enjoyed everything. Super tasty food and excellent service. We’ll definitely be back.

We had a great breakfast here, plenty of food on the plate. Food was excellent, service too. Shared, but clean toilet. Dog friendly,take away options available.

My son has been in Alder Hey for nearly 3 weeks and my daughter had been missing me so I decided to take her the park and then for tea. The staff at treetops restaurant in Alder Hey are overall unfriendly and food is average so I decided to try The Wheatsheaf over the road from Alder Hey. It was brilliant the manager was super friendly and helpful, my daughter has additional needs and she was patient with her and listened to her not ignoring her in favour of the adult. I only ordered a kids meal (great price) and some onion rings, it came in good time and she enjoyed her burger, the ice cream fun was next level and she was so excited to see it she nearly tipped the table! I would much rather eat here with the friendly staff and nice food than in Alder Hey. If you're a parent head over here sometimes it's far better than Treetops!

Ordered 3 steaks all had a funny smell and aftertaste didn't eat them spoke to staff still paid thd bill as no offer to reduce the price dissapointed as not been since new owners and will not return sorry

Outstanding meal for a Birthday. We had family visiting from Birmingham and this was my recommendation. Went above and beyond. Loved it. Service was amazing.

Didn't eat but a late drink with our son visiting him at university. We have visited Tipple on many occasions when in Lancaster and certainly will again. Lovely place great service and atmosphere. Slight negative the toilets were unusually unkempt on this visit.

This place has now closed from 1/1/25. Such a shame as many wonderful reviews. Not particularly highlighted as their booking site still states the restaurant is there.

Lovely little cafe, very dog friendly which we love. Great to take our hairy bairn with us. Fabulous lunch, coffee & wine. Absolutely recommend

Not happy service is poor, asked for a glass of lager and was given a pint. I was not given option of half pint glass. Food was over expensive for what we had. I was also given the wrong change on leaving. I won't go back.
