Excellent authentic Italian food in the restaurant in the Andrew Arms, Compstall. The food service is separate from the pub with a comfortable dining room. The food cooked by chef Vichenzo and served by his wife is Italian through and through. Lovely atmosphere, beautiful food at good price, which we will visit again and again.
My pet hate is dogs in the dining room and there were none. I don't know if we were just lucky. Our favourite Italian.
Waited at our table 30 minutes and no acknowledgement. Not offered a drink or a menu. The table next to us had waited 40 minutes and they left. The table behind us were the same. 3 separate couples waiting to be seated and none of them were acknowledged either.
I heard the waiter being rude to customers . We also left and did not eat here. Such a shame it’s really gone down hill.
Our first time going here tonight, we went for the early bird menu after I finished work. Lots of choice. Food was lovely and fresh and hot. Ali and Imran were great really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back.
Every visit to Long Bar feels like stepping into my own living room. The warmth of the staff, their personal touch, and the way they know us by name create such a welcoming atmosphere. It’s rare to find a place that makes you feel so at home.
Now, let’s talk about the food—because Chef Dave is truly outstanding. I don’t usually do “best,” but Dave? He cooks a Sunday roast that is nothing short of exceptional. And it’s not just the roast—every dish I’ve had here has been fantastic. You can tell there’s real passion behind every plate.
I come here regularly, whether it’s for a meal, a drink with friends, or—let’s be honest—sometimes more than one drink! It’s always a great experience.
This is the first time I’ve taken the time to write a review, not because I didn’t want to, but because I never felt the need—Long Bar speaks for itself. But I do think it’s important to acknowledge the people who put passion into what they do, and Chef Dave and the whole team here deserve all the recognition.
As a proud Bramhall local and a small business owner myself, I believe in supporting our village’s businesses. Places like Long Bar make all the difference in creating a welcoming community. If you haven’t been yet, you absolutely should. Highly recommended!
