I am afraid both our meals were disappointing. A sea bass with chorizo crumb was over cooked. The chorizo emulsion little bite or indeed flavour. The fish pie was not good. The sauce wasn’t bechamel but cream with hunt the fish. The chive mash somehow became mustard mash . Spiced poached pears for dessert was the oddest we have ever eaten. Normally poached spiced pears has cinnamon and cloves etc but this tasted like allspice had been used instead Just not nice sorry to say. Reading other reviews maybe an off night but our take away was that this was a chef who didn’t understand flavours.

Literally 5 * food and fantastic value. We were there with a chef and he could not fault it either. Amazing 🤩 The service lets it down a little sadly, just little things. Need some resources upstairs incase they forget something else it takes ages. We did have a small problem also and it was not dealt with as expected. But yes 👍🏻 💯 go there totally wowza

This was an almost perfect evening out for our wedding anniversary, and our first visit here. The food and service were great. The one small thing is that our table was right by the bar, and the waiter spent most of the time on our side of it, either leaning on the middle of it, (so less than a metre from us) or walking up and down. We didn't feel we could have a conversation in private, and were aware of his almost constant presence. I'm sure this was unintentional and he was unaware of the effect. Next time we would ask for a table either upstairs, or on the other side from the bar.

Ended up here because the local boozer didn't do food, and how lucky were we! On the high street in the pretty town of Marple, this fish-focused restaurant serves quality food. The mussels were fresh and amazing as was the fish pie. The friendly waitress made sure everything was spot on. Just wish we lived nearer. Anyway, when in the vicinity this is a must

An incredible meal to celebrate our engagement. The staff went above and beyond, with flowers, a card, and bubbly waiting on the table when we arrived. Having dined at Fisherman's Table previously, we knew we were in for some excellent food and drink, but did not expect to be blown away by these extra touches. We cannot thank Fisherman's Table enough for their excellent service, the food, as always, was incredible and we left with memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you for making an incredible day even more special and we can't wait to return for more meals and celebrations in the future - would give 6 stars if we could.

We have used Marple Fish on regular basis for a couple of years now but had never tried the Fisherman's Table. The service staff were second to none, extremely tentative, and when asked about a few items of the menu options, they gave knowledgeable and real responses. The food was extremely nice all 5 dishes that we had got the thumbs up from our party. The atmosphere was nice, not cramped with a light decor that was fitting for the restaurant. Will be booking again, that is for sure.

This really is exactly what a neighbourhood restaurant is all about – good food, with a changing menu, in nice surroundings and very pleasant staff. It’s not our neighbourhood though and we have a drive from the other side of the borough, so it’s a few months since we were last here. As suggested by the name, this is firmly a seafood restaurant, So, it was scallops to start for one of us. King scallops from Shetland, perfectly cooked and seasoned with chilli and garlic and accompanied by steamed leeks. That was followed by pan fried hake. That always seems to be the most Spanish of fish and here it’s served with Romesco sauce, untraditionally having a twang from capers. Sugar snap peas contribute to the five a day. I was in two minds over a starter. The mackerel with beetroot salad felt very North European but I opted a small tuna steak, cooked to medium rare (which is how I most enjoy it). That came with a fennel “slaw” and a spoonful or two of an indeterminate sauce. Fish pie as a main course. Lightly smoked white fish, king prawns and peas, in a creamy sauce, topped with potato. What’s not to like? Some greens beans and tenderstem broccoli provided colour and freshness. We shared a portion of fries. We didn’t fancy dessert but coffee was fine. Nice evening.

We had the 3 tapas for £20 lunch plus the “special” crab & crayfish ravioli. With 3 x 4 tapas to share there was pleanty to go around. We loved each plate & enjoyed sharing & chatting about the food. There was a group having the al a carte nearby & we started wishing we had done that too ! All in all fab food & wine & lovely staff.

We really enjoyed our visit last week to this restaurant. We have visited a few times previously but not for a while. We shared a starter, mussels, which were delicious followed by John Dory which we both had which were equally delicious. The tables for two are really small in the restaurant and close together, which has put us off in the past however we were lucky enough to choose a quiet evening so occupied a table for 4 which was a much better size. Nice choice of wines by the glass also. Definitely would visit again.

After it been recommend we thought we would give the fisherman’s table a try - to start I had the asparagus risotto and it was so spicy! There was no mention of how spicy it is but it was tasteless just burned my mouth! My husband enjoyed his muscles. Next was the mains and we asked for extra veg (£5) and were presented with the smallest carrots we had EVER SEEN! My husband had a pudding where I opted for a lemonchello - the bill came to £101! We definitely couldn’t see that price of what was on our plates. I don’t think we will be going again - which is a shame

My husband had some lovely oysters but didn’t enjoy his fish pie it was a little runny and not a lot of taste apparently, I had the the monk fish panko but the sauce was cold and possibly a lot of the cabbage juice got in there - it needed a herb component in my view something to lift the taste a little. My main was lovely the John Dory was well cooked and tasty and the sides were also delicious. We ordered a side of carrots and actually were worth the money! Tasted naturally smoked somehow - lovely flavour

Came across this restaurant whilst visiting family in the area. Oh my goodness what a gem! My auntie fancied a fish and chip supper so we asked for a traditional cod and chips and it really did not disappoint. The fish batter was light and crispy, the fish itself was white and flaky. The chips were hot and cooked to perfection too. We finished our meal with lovely desserts. The service was efficient and server extremely pleasant. Honestly cannot recommend enough if you are in the area.

Even though it’s only on the other side of the borough, we may not have come across the restaurant without a casual mention on a travel forum. I’d been chatting with this guy about the restaurants in the Spanish resort and, as we were both from Greater Manchester, we started swapping the names of places we like at home. And what a “find” Fisherman’s Table has proved to be. Nice building (over 270 years old, the website says), lovely server and a nice short menu which changes every couple of months. It’s one of those places which is exactly how your neighbourhood restaurant should be – and it was worth the schlep battling through Stockport’s rush hour traffic on a very wet Wednesday evening. The small Queenie scallops were one starter, in the French style as Coquilles St Jacques. Served on the half shell, in a creamy sauce and topped with mashed potato flavoured with a little cheese. Across the table, three big chunks of monkfish had been given a really crisp panko breadcrumb coating before being fried. They sat in a delicious shellfish bisque enhanced with a few shreds of pickled red cabbage. It all works really well. A tuna steak came medium rare – I’m not a fan of overcooked tuna nor am I a fan of the fashionable “just seared” version. This was pretty much perfect for me. It’s how Spanish chefs cook it in the good seafood restaurants in the resort I mentioned earlier. And a Spanish theme is on the plate, in the form of a thick chorizo, tomato and chickpea “stew” – they could “big this up” and serve it as one of their non-seafood starters or mains. It’s too good to be just an accompaniment. It’s utterly delicious. Across the table, “catch of the day” was a whole sea bream which had been grilled, I think and was served with a caper butter sauce. Certainly another dish that was an absolutely bang-on bit of fish cooking. It came with a few green beans and asparagus spears. Most dishes come with a carb but these were the two that didn’t, so we ordered some chips to scoff alongside. As often the case, desserts were OK but were not as good as the savoury courses. Housemade bread and butter pudding is a favourite of my companion in life and was declared “decent”. It comes with ice cream or custard. That’ll be custard then - obviously. The other pud was a small, very crisp tart, filled with a lemon cream and, also on the plate, blueberry compote and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We finished with good espresso.

We had high expectations after hearing so many wonderful things about the restaurant and the oysters to start did not disappoint. They were by far the highlight of the meal! Scallop starter didn’t ‘wow’ and the chicken and ham terrine was dry and tasted like one big lump of turkey. The bread that accompanied was delicious. On to the mains: salmon was delicious but the brussel sprouts were burnt. The mussels were really nice too and the sauce very tasty. Cooked to perfection with a taste to match was the John Dory however, the sauce/bisque was a massive let down as it had no taste and the prawns were overcooked and rubbery. Puddings were average. What really was disappointing was that as we were eating and enjoying ourselves, the service staff were making up place settings for the following day on the table across from us. I understand that this prep needs doing and if the staff have nothing to do then they should be kept busy but not on the restaurant floor during service.

My husband organised the use of the function room for my birthday party. He was told we pay £50 for the use of the room, which we did a few weeks prior. The pub was relatively quiet so the party guests made good use of the bar also. Towards the end of the night the person who we organised it with came over to me, infront of all my guests and said "whose paying the £70 balance then?" Which was pretty embarrassing, he could have asked privately and politely. But aside from that we were never told we would then also have to pay £70 during the party, aswell as the £50 we'd already paid and agreed. He then showed us texts between him and someone else stating they wanted £70. We explained that we made no such agreement and those texts were between him and someone else entirely. This continued infront of everyone before my husband asked for this not to be discussed infront of me as it was ruining my 30th birthday party. The guy then went off, made a phone call, then told us we didn't need to pay the £70. No apologies and very cold and uncomfortable, so we ended the party and left. The room can fit around 30 people, fairly basic which was all we needed but to be honest the staff weren't exactly welcoming. Completely soured the night. Would be better to stick to the agreement and any discrepancies around cost should be discussed before and certainly not infront of everyone in an abrupt manner.
