Chilli Banana Thai Street Food in Stockport

I'd been here once before as part of a large group and enjoyed it so I thought I'd order a takeaway with delivery. It was excellent. Subtle flavours and spices and all nicely presented. Don't think I'll go anywhere else now.

Simply stunning food cooked with love. Every single thing we ate was delicious including an incredible tamarind duck special. We'll be back next week!

After a very disappointing Thai meal in Hyde recently, Noks was worlds apart. Beautiful, fresh, authentic food and brilliant service. Our waiter was informed and knowledge regarding all the specials which was brilliant. And the food, so delicious!

The standard of food has declined. It’s a lot of money and is not worth it. Pork belly was all fat and so spicy it was barely edible.. chicken curry was like a treasure hunt to find the chicken. Will not be ordering again.

Ordered a takeaway and it was ready very quickly. I had vegetarian Pad Thai which was great. Very happy to learn all the items on the menu can be made veggie so looking forward to trying them all out.

Visited their food stall at stockport on the foodie friday..it was very busy and intended to rey rhe thaingreen curry but they ran out..did try some beefi, chilli,Carlisle with rice dish which was very tasty It was a tenner which I thiught a but pricey for a stockport food market but would eat from here again

Shocking, I wouldn’t bother !! Food was running over an hour late and to finish up, was never delivered !! Phoned Restaurant, who didn’t seem to be concerned. Never Again !!

The food was terrible. It seemed that had already Ben digested. Not even the rice was right. I would definitely not return.

Came in on a Wednesday night with 2 of my friends. The food was excellent with great portion sizes. What made it all better was the the top service by our waitress (young lady with blonde hair- wish I had got her name). Thank you very much!!!

Bramhall has a poor reputation for food. Tbh there aren’t many places you would really look forward to. Noks is an exception, nice food , lovely staff. Take your own bottle of wine to help with the price, what’s not to like. And yes with many I’ve eaten in Thailand . This is well up with the best,

Had an excellent meal last Saturday. Mixed starter and the Tom yam soup to start. Partner then chose the beef stir fry while I decided on the special sea bass in 3 flavour sauce which was outstanding (very spicy and tasty). The service was good and the atmosphere friendly, what’s not to like?

Previously visited when Noks was a franchise of chilli banana and enjoyed the food but it has nothing on the food tonight! It was quite clear that Nok and the restaurant are no longer tied to chain food branding and menu and are able to fully demonstrate a taste of Thailand - delicious food. Staff were great very welcoming and friendly and took the time to explain the specials and the menu where we asked about certain dishes. Food was so flavoursome and the lamb shank literally melted off the bone! While we were literally bursting we squeezed in chocolate spring rolls to finish with shared by all four of us - glad we did because they were a little bit of pudding heaven, with the amount we ate one was more than enough to hit the pudding spot.

Had a lovely meal with very knowledgeable staff and good beer. The menu was short but had all that was needed on there. Me and my partner both had the lamb shank main. Worth every penny.

Lovely welcome, nice relaxed surroundings and the food…? Absolutely top notch! I’m coeliac and also dairy intolerant and it was no problem getting sorted with delicious food to eat - staff and chefs really aware and careful of allergies and will adapt the menu to suit if that’s what you’d like to do. Ordered a takeaway for 4 last Friday. One of our party found a hair in his main meal. I'm always a bit like "has it come from us?" so gave the benefit of the doubt. Daughter had some food left over for the next day and opened one of the pots of dipping sauce previously un opened from the night before and there was a hair in that too. Not nice so won't be using again.

When Thai is your favourite food you know which is the best. Noks thai is hands down the best Thai food around. They do everything fresh, homemade and to your request. My favourite Phad Thai and Penang… as good as you get in Thailand .. so that must mean something :) Thanks again Noks!

Small and friendly local restaurant, the food and service were excellent. Loved the decor and ambience, laid back and friendly. We will definitely be returning to try some more of their specials. Delicious.

Incredible food and fantastic service for a really reasonable price. Great you can bring your own drinks when most places are highly over priced for drinks. Will definitely be coming again!

Very poor take away . Poor value for money . 2 started and 3 main courses for £50 Sooooo sweet everything was like eating pudding ! Especially beef massaman curry and corn cake starter . Noodle dish no flavour no Thai basil and noodles tasted burnt. Very disappointed . Hoping for a fragrant fresh Thai meal !

Given that we are unable to go to pubs, etc we decided to support local restaurants by ordering takeaways. We chose a couple of the mixed starters, some corn cakes and steak strips. All was very tasty and accompanied by a variety of lovely dips. Hopefully, you will survive the current crisis and be around to continue to provide good quality Thai food for years to come.

Have eaten before from here and it was nice unfortunately probably wouldn’t again. As this time the food wasn’t nice at all and we had bad stomach after.Portion sizes are small for the price.We had a takeaway so can’t comment on inside this restaurant only on the food..

A great place with amazing food and great service. I booked online and the process was really easy. The Red curry was delicious and the $10.95 deal is amazing value for money. This place is a must for Thai food lover !!

The Sunday Curry club gives you the choice of; Gaeng Keo Wan (Thai Green Curry), Gaeng Ped (Thai Red Curry), Penang or Massaman curry, with a rice accompaniment and either a beer or wine. For £10.95. Yes, that’s correct. Ten. Ninety. Five. Under 11 English pounds. For an authentic, home cooked Thai Meal. Not just any Thai meal. We were told that the Street food branch of Chilli Banana is the only restaurant to prepare absolutely everything fresh in house. When the food came out, there was no doubt in my mind; we could taste the freshness.We had everything bought out at the same time (for the gram, obvz). We were like children in a candy shop. A bit of this, a bit of that.. a bit more of this.. and then more of that. Each dish absolutely gorgeous. Vibrant and fresh. We could taste all of the ingredients. From the rich kaffir lime leaf in the Penang curry, to the fragrant jasmine rice. Particular stand outs were the Tom Ka, Tempura Squid, and Massaman curry. I would go as far as saying this is close to the best curry I’ve ever had. Superb! All of this was washed down with a gloriously cold Singha beer. The perfect end to a fantastic weekend.

The starter and drinks arrived promptly, however we waited a hour for our main courses. Firstly blaming on the complexities of steaming fish before they admitted the number of takeaway requests had held up our meal. In the end we gave up, paid for our starters and drinks and left. Shocking service.

Unplanned visit tried the sharing menu which was very tasty & excellent value at £20 each for a starter to share a main & drink each. Will be back to try more.

We wanted to try Chilli Banana after reading reviews and planning a meal out, went early doors on Saturday night and would recommend.A good varied choice on the menu, lots of starters and mains. We opted for a sharer starter, a mix of Thai street food including satay skewers and fish cakes all very nice.A chicken pad Thai main sealed the deal for a tasty treat, overall not the cheapest of meals out but would definitely go again at some point.

We had often driven passed this restaurant with a desire to go and eat here but for one reason or another given that it is a few miles away from us we had not done so until last weekend. We ere going out for the evening with a couple of friends that we hadn't seen for a while and wanted somewhere special so we choose the Chilli Banana. We had booked a table a couple of weeks in advance to ensure we had a table with a couple of friends who had also not been. What a delightful surprise we had. We expected it to be nice and we expected to enjoy it but it was more than okay as we had a terrific evening. The restaurant is quite big although i ma not sure how many seats it has they are all very generously spaced out and plenty of room on the seats. The place is very well lit and provides a lovely warm ambience to the evening. We arrived at about 8.15 and it was very busy although we did stay until there was virtually no one left in there and we thought it had gone quite a little early but I think that was just us enjoying ourselves. We ordered all sorts from the menu , Soup, starters , main courses and desert . We all ordered differently and we shared the whole thing amongst us. I love Tia food as it is very tasty and this was no exception as ALL of the food was absolutely fabulous. It was hot, spicy, and delicious. It was all served with a pleasant smile and nothing was took much trouble for the staff. I know this is part of a chain although I believe this was the first one in the chain but this place was and is fabulous and i will definitely be back for more sooner than later. It isnt a place to bring children though I don't think, not that you would want to as it has a perfect evening atmosphere

We had a thoroughly enjoyable time at Chilli Banana tonight .It was our first visit and certainly won't be the last .The interior is much bigger than I imagined which was a very pleasant surprise .The decor and lighting is smart .I loved the vibe . The food was delicious and generous in quantity .I had Pad Thai which was bursting with flavour and others in our party really enjoyed Drunken noodles which they said certainly had a good kick ! We loved the option of 'bring your own bottle' A splendid evening

I ordered a Thai green curry and Pad Thai this evening for my son and I. I had promised a take away and so I had the curry and my son had the Pad thai. We also ordered a mixed starter.My curry had the oddest looking colour for a green curry. It was almost fluorescent in colour. A mix of green and yellow. The curry was very watery and the only flavour that came through was liquorice. I'll be honest. I really didn't enjoy it and won't be ordering again. My son however, enjoyed his Pad Thai and our mixed starter was average.Total cost £34.30 with delivery. Total waste of calories and money.Service was very quick though. No complaints there.

First of all I asked for a draft pint and got three quarters. Apparently they don’t sell pints. The beer was almost room temperature. I then asked for bottled beer which was also not cold. Food is okay. Very overpriced. Tiny portion of rice is a joke! Wouldn’t recommend.

Used to visit Chilli Banana in Wilmslow several years ago, last week we decided on a change and delighted we decided to eat local. Annoyed that I missed out for so long on excellent local Thai food.

We’d not been to the Chilli Banana for a little while but it was good to be back. Good service and really tasty food which was cooked really well - we won’t leave as long next time!

Eaten at this restaurant for lunch 12-18 months ago and it was a nice authentic thai lunch. Had a takeaway delivered tonight 16/2/19 and it was pretty average/rubbish, Not authentic thai food that I've ever had in Thailand or any other major capital city in the world with a resident thai population. To be honest by the taste of it not sure they have a thai chef on this occasion !! 3 people £55, waste of money !! More like a s**t Chinese takeaway ! Always happy to give praise where its due but on this occasion ! Happy to discuss this with the owners ??

It’s a while since we ate here. We had grilled king prawns and Thai fish cakes to start followed by stir fried beef with chilli and holy basil and stir fried prawns with onion and basil, with steamed jasmine rice. Whilst a take away is never as good as when it’s eaten as soon as cooked, the food was very tasty. We’d definitely go back

I have been a regular here for years, both in the restaurant and for takeaways. I've brought my other half, colleagues, friends etc and spent more than I care to think about eating here! But I will not be returning again following this weekend. I ordered a takeaway for myself and three others for a birthday night in, coming to over £70. All the starters arrived stone cold - not just lukewarm, full on cold. I rang up immediately to let them know and to see what they could do. The response was 'I don't know what to do. Can you reheat them?' I replied I shouldn't have to microwave them, and although it could work for some of the food it would not work for tempura as it'd go soggy and awful. One starter was just tempura and the others all had bits of it in - so that's the majority of the food inedible. I explained this and was told 'I don't know what to do. Call back later'. So we ended up with no starters and rude treatment - plus ME having to take time out of my evening to call back to rectify THEIR problem.We ate our mains, some of which were lukewarm. The sweet & sour prawns were overcooked. I've never had this before with any dishes.I called back a few hours later. The same person answered. I was left on hold a while. When she came back, she offered to refund one of our starters but not all. I explained that it was a birthday meal and I was extremely disappointed both with the cold food and the prawns being overdone. Plus, where is the logic in refunding one but not others when the issue was with all of them? She said she couldn't do anything else and to call back the following day if I wanted to pursue it. I asked why it should be ME calling when it was THEIR fault? No response. The next day, I called back repeatedly and there was no answer. Great.I am disgusted by the lack of customer service. I was completely reasonable about it and was treated appallingly. It put a dampener on what should have been a good night - what a waste of money and food too.

Lovely little restaurant, really good atmosphere and decor within.We started and had the steak strips and satay which were both amazing even though the steak looked a bit like a bush tucker trial it tasted incredible. The waiter couldn't really describe the menu properly to us so it was a bit of a gamble for the mains but we all enjoyed what we had, all very fresh and clean tasting.4 people with a drink each and the bill was under 100 so can't complain at the value .Will certainly be returning

From the street this looks like a cafe or take away, however once inside it opens up into a great little restaurant. The food is of a good to high standard but is also reflected in the prices. There’s an a la carte menu, daily specials and also sharing options. We were given the option to add any extras to the courses that we may have liked. Service was good and the atmosphere cosy. Would recommend.

20 of us visited recently. Food was very good with plenty of Gluten Free options (2 of the party were GF) . I had Massaman Curry , loved it. Few people had sticky rice but it was almost too sticky. Drinks prices reasonable. Good service

Another great evening spent at Chilli Banana, Bramhall.Staff were super friendly and attentive (served by George and a lovely young lady, whose name I sadly didn't catch) and they talked us through the specials menu option and the main menu too - and replaced my fork when it had taken on a life of its own! I always have the Massaman curry (my favourite from here) but my boyfriend tried the Red Curry dish and loved it. Food is always delicious from here, that's why it's our Thai of choice.Will definitely be visiting again, and soon. Always tasty!

My partner and I order the same takeaway almost every fortnight because the food is truly delicious. We will not eat Thai food anywhere else as we always think ‘It can’t be as good as Chilli Nana’ haha. Highly recommend the Chicken Drunken Noodles with a pot of Thai Red Curry sauce on the side for extra deliciousness. Delivery driver is so friendly too! Thanks guys!

Amazing food, great flavours! We chose a few starters and a couple of mains and shared everything. The Pad Si Yew was very good, the best I’ve had outside of Thailand! All the staff were so lovely and very attentive. The atmosphere was fantastic and we never felt rushed, it was a very relaxing meal! Lots of choice on the menu and the price is very reasonable! Overall an excellent restaurant!!

We were recommended this place when searching for a good Thai restaurant in Stockport and it did not disappoint! The waiting staff were very busy and although a little slow, we weren’t in a rush and they were really lovely. The food was really delicious - I eat Thai all the time and my father is a very fussy eater (who needs BIG meals to be satisfied) and we were both really happy with our meals. We will be repeat customers for sure.

The number 1 Thai restaurant, I choose The Chilli Banana every time over any other in the local area. Fantastic food, amazing flavours and reasonably priced. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. We are frequent visitors and always recommend your restaurant. :)

We have visited many times before however on our recent visit can only be described as the worst Thai food we have ever eaten.The pad Thai looked like it was just thrown on the plate and had only 4 prawns. Pad Krappow had no basil taste and had the constiency of gravy-the beef was very chewy.Thai crackers tasted old and the sweet chilli sauce was really watered down so it just tasted of sweetened water.We dined with friends who had travelled very far to see us and felt it was inappropriate to complain on the evening however we have just been sent this to review.

First time visit. The restaurant was absolutely immaculate and service was top notch. The food was also amazing! A very intimate restaurant but the atmosphere was great! The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Will deffo be going again!

We eat thai food at least once a week so quite often get takeaways from chili banana bramhall to get a bit of variety from our usual favourite couple of thai restaurants. The food is reasonably good, but we always find that the takeaway prices are very expensive for what you get and almost comparible to restaurant prices.

Just had an excellent lunch with friends at the Chilli Banana in Bramhall. The place is intimate but the food is outstanding. I would recommend it to anyone. The restaurant is small, cosy, homely even. The staff are both friendly and helpful. And the food is beautifully presented. While eating we had already decided to return to try some of their other dishes. Then we had a stroke of luck. There started to appear on the table next to us a most sumptuous variety of dishes that we had not seen on the menu. It seems that they change the menu every three months and this delicious array was for a photo shoot for next month’s menu. The chef having taken the photos, we were invited to try several of them before the staff settled down to eat all the new dishes. I have always viewed restaurant website photos with suspicion, thinking that they were probably visual relatives of the menu items, specially created to look good in the photographs. Not so in this case. I loved the fact that it was the chef that took the photos on her iPhone and that the staff settled down to eat them so that they knew and could recommend the dishes from their own experience of them. Needless to say we will be back next month to order these superb dishes for ourselves.

We went for the sharing set menu deal, which comprised of three starters to share and a choice from three main courses each. Food was all very nice indeed, much as I remember it from my trip to Thailand not long ago. Service also top notch. Restaurant is only small but it didn't feel at all cramped despite being full.

My wife & daughter brought me for father's day. The food was absolutely incredible, the service was fantastic, literally not a single bad thing to say. Loved it from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Superb.

As with most Thai restaurants outside Thailand if you don't want bland you need to ask for the dishes to be served spicy. Chilli banana is no different in that respect but the standard spicing is very pleasant and is very reminiscent of Thailand. We had a selection of starters and a prawn salad followed by three main courses with glasses of reasonable wine and draught beer. Very happy with the service and the ambience but were somewhat surprised by the bill when it came. At around £100 for three it will be moved to special occasion status.

We are regular local diners who believe in supporting local restaurants. Chilli banana is by far the best thai food in Bramhall.We enjoy home delivery always efficient and spot on.

The staff are very pleasant, but the food was not great Thai, did not have that crisp clean fresh Thai flavour.We had the set menu for £25, starters ok but fish dish quite dry and tasted artificial lemon , mango flavour.Main courses also similar artificial flavour and beef not tender.Staff very pleasant and wine good. Would not recommend if really love Thai food.

My wife and I visited the Chilli Banana last night for our evening meal. The service we received from the staff was spot on - helpful and friendly.No time was wasted, our drinks orders were taken just after we had sat down and we were given ample time to browse of the food menu. Our food came out promptly after the order had been taken. All the food was cooked to perfection and the spices were used to enhance the taste rather than to mask poor ingredientsWe over ordered on the food, at the end of the meal we asked to have the remainder put into a "doggy bag" which they were more than happy to do for us. I enjoyed the remainder for my lunch today - even reheated the food was grate!if your looking to go out for a Thai meal try the Chilli Banana - it wont disappoint.

All the food appears to taste of salt and sugar as flavor enhancers. It looks great and its cooked great all has a prawny flavored overtone but its edible and OK

I was bought a voucher for Chilli Banana for Christmas from my son and we had a Saturday night free. The Chilli Banana was suggested and I agreed. I booked a table and off we went. The greeting was second to none and the food was fabulous.

My friend & I went to Chilli Banana for lunch today and cannot say enough good things about it! We both had the ‘Lunch Express’ deal; two courses for £9.95.The food was absolutely excellent, all really fresh and very tasty. We both had the Pad Thai for our main course, and I can honestly say that it was the best Pad Thai I’ve ever had!Would highly recommend a visit. Unfortunately we aren’t local or I’d be back in a heartbeat!

Would recommend to anyone. The choice of food is fantastic, catering for all tastes, and tastes amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful, without being too intrusive. The atmosphere is great to relax either with friends or partners. Never had a bad meal there.

This place is great for just about everyone and any occasion, from eating alone as a snack to eating with a group of friends. We ate on a Saturday night and it was heaving, we were lucky that we have booked a table night before. The service was very quick and we were eating within 10-15 minutes of sitting down.I had the red curry and it tasted great. All the ingredients were fresh and full of flavour. There was nothing bad padding it out like you get in some restaurants, it was just noodles, meat, vegetable and the sauce. This is how food should be. It was fast, prices were moderate and food was fantastic for flavours.This is a very down to earth place. I strongly recommend that anyone who likes Thai food tries this place at least once.

Husband and I had a rare night to ourselves and unfortunately wasted it here. Service was super slow, tables squeezed together (last time I’ve sat that close to someone else’s table was when we used to go out for valentines). When it eventually came, my oyster mushroom soup had 5 raw field mushrooms bobbing in it, and husband’s Thai salad consisted of wedge of iceberg lettuce with minced chicken in what must have been half a bottle of nam pla. Inedible. After 30 mins we saw a member of waiting staff and were then offered another bowl of it (we declined). Waited another 40 mins and mains didn’t arrive. Got up and spoke to staff who then tried to give us full bill as they hadn’t realised we’d not been given our mains! Had there been any staff passing/ able to get eye contact with rest assured we’d have asked beforehand. Plus point is the whole bill was cancelled but would have much rather paid for a nice, timely meal out. Absolutely gutted at the waste of time.From the other customers querying bill/ waiting to order I’m guessing tonight was not a good night. Definitely back to the authentic Thai restaurants we usually go to next time

We ordered a deliveroo takeaway. It arrived cold. The portion was very small and it was very sub-standard/pretty bad! There was a heavy use of plastic too in the packaging. Very expensive and totally not worth it. Would not use again. Ever.

The food was very good quality, and the service was rather quick. Even managed to knock the chilli level up for me upon request. The staff were amazing and very friendly, couldn't do enough to help. We opted for the set menu, and the price was incredible (still pretty good off the set menu too!).It was so good, my next team night out will begin there!

My parents treated me to a meal here at the weekend. The restaurant was packed with a great atmosphere. Food is fantastic value, around £12-£15 for main. Some reviews here have complained about small portions, but I disagree - everything was so tasty I was 100% satisfied. I had a mixed starter, followed by the crispy stir-fried belly pork, which was incredible. I also had a taste of the green curry, which was good and spicy. Staff were friendly and attentive. If I had to be really picky, I'd suggest Chilli Banana get some comfier chairs - the metal chairs are very trendy, but actually not very nice to sit on for a nice, leisurely dinner

We’ve had takeaways from here on a number of occasions. The food tastes nice, but the portions are very small and it’s poor value for money.

Never used chilli banana before but really enjoyed the food and service - food was really nice and would certainly eat again at chilli banana bramhall

This Thai take away has progressively made the portions of the meals smaller and smaller. This is an extremely expensive take away. The food is very nice, however, the portions are embarrassingly small. After ordering a starter, main and a rice any other take away you would be completely full and satisfied. There would more than likely be left overs left! After my meal I was still starving!!!! When the place first opened the portions were good, now they are stingy. When you are paying so much money for a take away you expect that it would at least fill you up. Will never go again.

Fantastic restaurant & great food! Staff very efficient and manager extremely friendly. Would thoroughly recommend! 5*
