We phoned up wanting a table and they were quite accommodating fitting us in really quickly which was really great of them. The Red Cat is a lovely pub in crank with gorgeous views and has a lovely homely feel to it. The staff are lovely and attentive. We ordered the roast dinner sharing platter which was plenty of food with all the trimmings. It is such a good idea!! There was two of us and my three year old and plenty to go around. My only comment was that the roast potatoes let it down, these where a bit hard to cut and not crispy or fluffy. The cauliflower cheese was gorgeous and the ham was soft and succulent. So tasty. We asked for more gravy, no problem. We were a table of 3 but was sat at a table of two, this was a bit of a squeeze with a child, once we had the iPad, drinks and then a platter on the table it was uncomfortable and we had to get rid of plates/ pop things on a chair or the fireplace nearby so that we could fit our plates on the table. However I understand we were accommodated last minute and there may not have been bigger tables available. The Malbec red wine is recommended and they have a great selection of 0% beers on offer.

Excellent farmhouse café, staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, food was served fast, reasonably priced and good quality (we had the breakfast). Overall very enjoyable and impressive visit. Only 2 criticisms the first: the sachet condiments let you down as there not great quality and the second was the irritating 'elevator' music being played on repeat in the background, but not enough to detract a 5 star review.

Not very impressed with the Barn today. They have really let it go. It opened at 10am, we got there at 10.30am. It was freezing!!! Warmer outside!!! Ordered 2x toasted tea cake and coffees. It was cold and over cooked, butter frozen. How can you mess such an easy order up??? ☹️ The toilet had a full bin, come on. 😱

Credit where credit is emphatically due! We popped in for breakfast the other morning, only to be met by what can only be described as a phalanx of the friendliest staff you could ever wish to encounter. And, my word, what a breakfast it was! A truly resplendent English spread, in a pub that exuded charm and individuality. None of this soulless, microwave 'ping' malarkey you get with the dreary chain establishments. No, no, this was the real McCoy—proper British hospitality, by Jove! An absolute triumph and a welcome respite from the mundane. Bravo!

We visited The Junction on 10/12/23 and were pleasantly surprised to find that it had upped its game!! The staff were pleasant, attentive and worked as a team - what a turn around since our last visit. Keep up the good work on the staffing front. The Sunday carvery was as delicious as ever.

This was for years the best Chinese takeaway in the whole St. Helens area in my opinion. In recent years, it has really changed for the worse, the food is so salty and probably full of msg. The only way to describe it are that standards have slipped from being really good to below par, which is a shame for all.
