The best restaurants in Rainford St. Helens North West

All the feel and look of a great country pub (because it is) a stones throw away from the East Lancs Road. Great atmosphere, excellent service and outstanding food due to the attention to detail. Specials menu always worth a look. Booking is easy and well worth it.

We came across the red cat pub last night and had 6 of the small plates we was very impressed, we live in Manchester so uselly eat in Manchester city centre restaurants as we enjoy fine dining, this chef will give the top chefs in the top restaurants a run for there money , we will definitely be back , it is also dog friendly and has a very large outside space, which i guess will get very busy in summer, It was very busy so I would advise booking we was lucky we walked in at the right time, the young girls that was serving and managing the bookings showed care and passion in there roles very professional.

Good food, polite and friendly staff

Went for the market and loved it. My only issues were around wheelchair access. Though not impossible, a few easy changes would make a big difference. Making the path less stone covered would be brilliant.

First visit was a Friday lunch time, lovely meal at a reasonable price and good portions, very good customer service and atmosphere we will be back again.

Not very impressed with the Barn today. They have really let it go. It opened at 10am, we got there at 10.30am. It was freezing!!! Warmer outside!!! Ordered 2x toasted tea cake and coffees. It was cold and over cooked, butter frozen. How can you mess such an easy order up??? ☹️ The toilet had a full bin, come on. 😱

Valentine's Italian Tapas night 14th Feb. What an amazing night. Food , music, atmosphere, staff and Sam & Chris brilliant. Had a fantastic night talking, singers, dancing with friends. Well done again 👍❤️

Love the fish and chips here with a curry sauce. Chicken kebab meat is very good too.

Nice old pub but food came in the wrong order starters after mains? Portion sizes not the best tasty food but who serves 1/2 a chicken fillet. We had heard great reviews about the places but I do not think we will be returning, bit disappointing.

Now called the village end. Ordered 2 large lamb kebabs, chips, chicken strips and fudge cake. Pre ordered on the website and all the food came piping hot and my kebab was beautiful on a naan. Got some free garlic bread and my 15 year ate the lot. Good price, well worth Friday takeaway if living in the Rainford area.

This was for years the best Chinese takeaway in the whole St. Helens area in my opinion. In recent years, it has really changed for the worse, the food is so salty and probably full of msg. The only way to describe it are that standards have slipped from being really good to below par, which is a shame for all.
