Rainford Supper Bar in St. Helens

This was for years the best Chinese takeaway in the whole St. Helens area in my opinion. In recent years, it has really changed for the worse, the food is so salty and probably full of msg. The only way to describe it are that standards have slipped from being really good to below par, which is a shame for all.

Been a regular visitor to the supper bar since moving to Rainford. Food is always excellent, service always spot on and prices always reasonable. Will remain a loyal customer.

As a regular customer I’m finding the food quality is becoming quite variable. Just purchase chicken, fried rice and chips. The chips had been re- heated and where very hard and inedible. I note that stars on the door for food hygiene are nowhere to be seen!

As regular customers for more than 20 years we accept that occasionally mistakes are made so when on our previous visit we found the pancakes and hoi sin sauce dor our crispy duck to be missing from our order it was no real cause for concern . We simply phoned and let them know and they promised to replace the dish freeod charge on our next visit. Fast forward to today and my youngest daughter requested Chinese for her birthday tea. Queue 17 mile round trip to Rainford. Upon my arrival I mentioned the agreement they had made to replace the crispy duck. Sure enough a note had been pinned up next to the till confirming the agreement. However the server was keen to point out that they would only be replacing the sauce, spring onion and cucumber items which had been missed, not the duck. I asked what use these would be and she said we should have frozen the duck from our last visit and defrosted it today to use with the replacement sundries. She did generously offer to replace the pancakes as well. I felt this was not quite reasonable and suggested as a good will gesture they should replace the whole dish at a cost of £8.30. Things then turned nasty as the server accused me of being a thief attempting to blag free food. As the minister of a church I try not to rob from local businesses. I also pointed out that a conservative estimate would put my historical spend with them in excess of £3000 so asking them to make a small goodwill gesture of £8.30 was not at all excessive. However I may as well have been talking to the wind. They dug in. No compensatory duck. And so, after 20+ years it is with great sadness that I must bid farewell to the staff of Rainford Supper Bar.

Top quality Chinese takeaways at a good price , used regularly over 16 years and never been disappointed with the quality of the food or the service received. Very disappointed withTrip Adviser picking out one bad report And focusing on that .Would be happy to recommend to anyone in the area.

I grew up in Rainford in the 90’s and it was my family go to in the weekends, The Chips alone are incredible to go with any traditional dish, their sausage dinner is 10/10, definitely try the rest of the menu their Chinese food is delicious. Lovely hard working staff so be nice! And patient!, it can get pretty busy when they open. I don’t live there anymore but will travel to eat there. Thanks for years of quality.

I have waited 3 months + to enjoy my take away and it was worth the wait. Best chinese food for miles!

I was on the way home from work and stopped in for some tea and ordered chips and gravy, about an hour after eating the food I had horrible belly pains and ended up being sick.If your gonna order from here don’t get what I ordered because I reckon they hadn’t changed the gravy for days which made me illI won’t be getting food from here ever again.

Always good food and service here. We pass a few takeaways to go here but it is worth it. Will be returning

We made a large order on the Good Friday Bank Holiday and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed the food; it was hot, freshly made and very good value for money. There is a lovely selection of food and the Rainford Supper Bar is a credit to the village.

We've been visiting the Rainford Supper Bar a few times a year for the last 17 years. It can sometimes appear a bit chaotic at busy times but you are always dealt with quickly. It's definitely worth ringing your order through if you intend to eat from here on a Friday or Saturday night, as you could end up being stuck in a queue for a while otherwise. The food is good and there is a massive choice available.

A few weeks ago they got my order completely wrong. When I telephoned and asked for it to be changed, the staff were incredibly rude, so I decided never to eat there again. As I was going out tonight my son asked if he could have tea from there. After him being totally explicit in his order they still managed to forget half of it. This place has gone right down the pan!!!

The most amazing chicken omlette service amazing really friendly staff always busy easy to park outside. Chips are the best I’ve ever tasted and the curry to die for

Food is Fab, so tasty! Great Portion Sizes! Peak Times can be a little bit longer of a wait but it is worth the wait!

We were staying in the area and had a menu, ordered off that menu with numbers. At no point did they repeat the actual meal back, just the numbers. When we got the meals they were wrong so rang them up to be told that the numbers are different to those on the board in the shop. The woman never apologised. She was rude and aggressive just shouting that they were the numbers on their board. Very poor customer service. They know the numbers don't match so why on earth they couldn't have just checked I don't know.
