This is a personal review about one of the servers. Kam (the one with pink hair) went out of their way to get my girlfriend a no calorie menu which doesnât sound like much but it meant a lot to her. They had non of those menus and so Kam took the time to cross out all of the calories on a menu so that she wouldnât be able to see them. Top tier service. Thankyou so much Kam :)

We (2 dinners) arrived around 2 pm for lunch, quickly seated and opted for the 3 course fix price lunch. Ordered our drinks, waited and made our choices, order taken. Reminded server about drinks, waited ...drinks arrived. Starters arrived 5 minutes later. Calamari nice with garnish. Garlic mushrooms with bread. The bread was burnt on the base, the garlic was far too strong ( I cook with fresh garlic in my kitchen, there is a balancing act that needs to be correct, not tasting it until the following day) no check from server to ask if food ok. Dishes cleared away.... asked for another round of drinks. Took quite a while for drinks to arrive. 1 bar staff 2 servers.... 1 guy drinking at the bar. Mains arrived eventually, chef forgot to put the pot of tartare sauce on fishcake plate, asked for it, waited, asked again, sauce arrived. Again heavy garlic on the pasta linguine. Picked our desserts choices...with a coffee. Dessert arrived no coffee, reminded staff, asked for bill, bill arrived. The servers had gone for break and bar staff was left to give coffee. Coffee was cold we were fed up chasing staff. It was now 3.30pm The bill was folded over with total showing and l went to bar to pay. Not happy, I know this brand and eaten elsewhere with no issues. Paid bill and left, checked bill much later when emptying receipts out of wallet and a 10% service charge had been added to the bill for 2 dining. My fault I guess for not checking receipt properly, I'm used to 8 dinners or more having a service charge. Not 2 pensioners, who normally tip if the food and service was good, this was not worth the ÂŁ5.37 tip or "service charge". Bread burnt, no tartare sauce, cold coffee, heavy hand on the garlic mushrooms and pasta linguine. We were thinking of returning, however there are plenty of places to eat in the area.

I,m afraid it dipped well below expectation. I had duck in black bean with chips. 6 Duck pieces were more skin than meat, I had 1 green bean, 3 pieces of green pepper and a the rest was made up of chopped onion. The chips were dry shrivelled and looked as if reheated from lunch menu, quite inedible for the most. Although the sauce was tasty the meal for the price was well below the standard of old. Disappointed.

We have been today for afternoon tea which was amazing however I must admit the visit to the toilets, what a let down! the dinghy filthy stairs and really sticky floors left me wondering how clean the rest of it really was!

Friendly bar, nice mix of clientele. Dog friendly. Has a bar and restaurant area and a fair sized outside area and plenty of parking. Sat outside today, around 4 benches need fixing, 2 appeared unsafe to sit on, need repairing. Returned again hoping for a drink and a burger on a very hot Sunday. They stop doing food mid afternoon( đ disappointing) and they start to shut the bar around 7, windows being shut, regular customers leaving). Returned again Nov 22, nice food tonight. Blade of beef with parmesan chips was very tasty, husband had steak pie which was also tasty. Feb 23 Friday night drinks, reasonably busy at 8pm, got much quieter as the evening progressed. Beavertown neck oil always a good pint. Shame more people don't make use of this pub, its still really nice, but used to be a bit more lively. June 23 New menu, lovely haddock and poached egg on mash and spinach and lamb with flatbread. Both recommended. Jan 2024 Fabulous blade of beef with roasted veg. Meat just fell apart and was so tasty. Great desserts too, lumpy bumpy cheesecake and apple and currant crumble. All highly recommended. November 24 Great menu, lovely atmosphere inside tonight. Great food.

30/09/24: Popped in for breakfast with friends and the obligatory mooch around J&S. Full English breakfast and a mug of tea is value for money and can set you up for the day. The decor is nothing special, but as it's predominantly a bikers' café that's not what it's about. The tables are big enough and spaced out well enough to be comfortable with biker clobber on, but it can get a bit noisy when it's busy and, as it's popular, it does get busy, especially in biking season. There are some back issues of bike-related mags if you fancy a read during your visit, and there is some outside seating for when the sun puts in an appearance, but this is a bit tired and could use a refresh. Service is generally dependable, but can be variable and depends on who is on shift. We've always got what we ordered, but some of the staff have in the past been miserable or surly, which takes the edge off a generally good experience.

This place has fantastic service, amazing people, so friendly. Unfortunately the food wasnt as good as I expected. I ordered classic chicken I did not enjoy it. The chips were great and so were the sauces. The tenders were smaller than expected, didnt have much flavour and weren't crunchy.
