We were visiting the Anderton Boat Lift which is just 10 minutes down the towpath from The Moorings. As the coffee shop there was quite full after the boat trip we decided to try somewhere else close by. The Moorings is a little gem of a place, run by chefs, so expect hotel like presentation of excellent food, which is worth waiting for. This is a totally different dining experience from the usual canal side cafe. Dogs are allowed inside on the hard floor area, but we sat outside with ours as it was a beautiful day and we could admire the canal boats in the marina.

This is a gem of a place! Food absolutely outstanding all freshly cooked to order all homemade from soups to wide variety of desserts, we visited today for my sons 21st birthday a party of 11 of us some with food allergies and everything was perfect! All food beautifully presented and massive amounts of potatoes and 3 different vegetables all come in separate dishes so you can have as little or as much as you want, we can’t wait to return x

Have been to the Moorings several times before and usually got a good meal. However, recently had their Christmas Fayre menu and it was dreadful. Had the beef in mushroom sauce ,- two slices of thinnest beef which was mainly fat and gristle smothered in sauce to hide it. Trifle for pudding which was absolutely solid. Will probably give another chance in view of previous good experiences, but they could not deal with large numbers at Christmas time.

I was hoping to award a 4 or 5 but was slightly disappointed today as the service level was chaotic! The mature waitress took our order efficiently and then it went down hill from there. The food arrived quickly but they made errors with the meals. The lamb was covered in gravy but the meat was very dry in texture so not too impressed. Then one person asked for 1 scoop of ice cream with there fudge cake and they brought ice cream for everyone having a sweet. We ordered coffee with the sweets and l can only imagine that they caught a plane to Brazil for the beans as it took forever to arrive. The sugar bowl was bereft of cubes and likewise l think they took a flight to Barbados for sugar cane? As the coffee was only warm when the sugar cubes arrived. That said it was busy and other food orders were fine. The prawn and smoked salmon salad starter l had was really enjoyable. Don't be put off trying The Moorings - l have been before and enjoyed their food very much but l am very strict about award levels but hope to score a higher score on my next visit.

Have visited The Moorings many times over the past few years and have never failed to be impressed with both the standard of food and service. The restaurant is next to and overlooks the Anderton Marina and the canal boats and also close to Anderton Boat Lift. It's an unusual single storey building and doesn't give many clues to the wonderful food on offer inside. But don't be fooled, you won't get better anywhere! You can be sure of a friendly welcome and a personal service. All the staff are always very friendly and truely look as though they enjoy their work. There is certainly a homely feel. If you are lucky enough to visit regularly, it's like revisiting friends. For special occasions aswell, such as birthdays they also add the personal touches if you wish, such as 'lit candles' on the cake and staff sing 'Happy Birthday'!The portion sizes are extremely generous and the Sunday menu is tparticularly good value for money! In short, I can not 'sing' it's praises enough!I do also highly recommend, that as the restaurant is easy to reach by either car or boat, you book a table, particularly on a Sunday - The Moorings is deffinately first choice for both loyal customers and visitors alike. Visit and Enjoy!

This is my second review of The Moorings. Since my first one we have visited the restaurant several times. Everybody is entitled to their opinion and I have no problems leaving a negative review to anywhere I visit if warranted.ON EVERY OCCASION we have visited The Moorings, me, the wife and other family members that have joined us, have always found that the service is excellent, the food is excellent, the staff are extremely friendly, polite and helpful and the ambience in the restaurant is friendly and welcoming.Yes it's not one of the biggest restaurants in the Northwich area. Yes it does get busy. I still strongly suggest that making a booking for a table in plenty of time is necessary. It is becoming a very popular little restaurant because of the above. To the owners - Carry on doing what you are doing now, you have yourself a little gold mine which is well worth your hard work. Looking forward to our next family visit and tasting the Christmas Menu.

We are going to moor here in 2017. so we decided to see what The Moorings had to offer. The small restaurant is nicely decorated and very clean and tidy. We ordered from the Sunday lunch menu. The plates were a bit on the small side but the potatoes and vegetables were served separately, extra gravy came along with a rather nice apple sauce for my husbands roast pork. We had apple and damson crumble with custard to follow which was lovely. We could not fault the food, cooked well and nicely presented. Quite surprised to see no drinks list, ordered a pint of Kronenberg and a lime soda and noticed a charge of £8.00 on our bill for drinks. I might be wrong but I think by law you have to have a drinks tariff openly displayed, and most restaurants display a wine/drinks list with their menu. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we will recommend The Moorings to the other 11 owners in our syndicate.

The man behind the counter had no customer service skills what so ever... maybe as we were not "regulars".They had a big party at one end which seemed to take all his time as again it took a while to order drinks. The waitress was nice, but rushed off her feet - we saw no one else. Décor is terrible - it doesn't seem to know what it is - just all thrown together. The panini when it did arrive was nice, but nothing special. Love the Marina but not the Moorings.

We have been to the Moorings many many times. This is the place to go for quality service. The food is fantastic. The service is excellent. Over the years, we have NEVER had anything other then 100% from them in every respect.I can't say that about many places.

Visited 16/102016.. At first glance it looks like a little café' and then you walk through the door to a very pleasant little restaurant. We had driven past so many times and then we heard by word of mouth that the food was very good.About four weeks ago we had a little visit for lunch. We ordered from the snack menu, 2 of the best sandwiches on the nicest freshest bread you could ever ask for, together with a large portion of chips and a good size pot of tea for 2. It all went down very well. The service was excellent. The restaurant was very clean and the atmosphere I would described as comfortable and cosy. So impressed, we booked a table for a family meal to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were not let down.We all ordered different meals from the Sunday Menu. Say no more, all freshly cooked, not that cardboard food you get from the "pub chain" restaurants. Lovely Home Cooked Food. Beef, Lamb and Turkey tender and tasty, potatoes, roast potatoes and vegetables cooked perfectly fresh and tasty, with all the trimmings. Good size portions Yum !!! Save some room for the lovely selection of puddings and sweets.Excellent service, excellent food, excellently run restaurant.Wish there was a few more places likes this.

Ate at The Moorings on the last evening of our canal holiday and rounded off a fantastic fortnight with a very nice meal. The menu caters for all budgets but we decided to treat ourselves and were well rewarded with excellent quality and value. The location is very nice overlooking the marina (not far to walk to the boat!) and has a friendly feel with excellent service. Just wish we had somewhere as good near us at home

This is a delight particularly in the week when quieter. Food is home made I think and is very good. Might need to book at weekends as gets very busy.

Popular place seemed to be lots of regulars having Sunday lunch.Room has pleasant view overlooking the narrowboats and marina if you able to sit by a window. There is a deep step splitting up the dining room which limits access for the less able bodied.Sunday lunch was uninspiring but reasonably priced .staff were helpful and pleasant and service prompt.

Had an excellent Sunday lunch here last weekend. Good choice and good price - 3 options 1 course, 2 course or 3 course so all appetites catered for. Very friendly staff too. If you are lucky enough to get a table in the window you can watch all the activity in the Marina.

I am staying at BW for work and booked dinner at Hilltops on my first night. I was initially nervous that there didn't appear to be anything suitable for vegans on the menu, but I double checked with the receptionist, who was very helpful and communicated my request to the restaurant. This was a short-notice request, so I was not expecting much, but the chefs went above and beyond. The tofu & veg curry was really tasty, and the choc fudge cake was delicious. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting, but the team prepared the leftovers for me to take to my room and eat later. Thank you to the talented kitchen team and wonderful front of house team at Hilltops!

Uns gefällt das Ambiente aus den 70er Jahren. Wie eine Zeitkaplsel. Dazu die freundliche Bedienung. Gut für einen Boxenstopp.
