Lovely candlelit afternoon tea on a very cold snowy Sunday. Homemade cakes, sandwiches, scones & trifle and a warm welcome by the lady running the tearoom. A bit of a walk from the centre of Durham in the snow for two visiting ladies, but worth the trek. You do need to pre-book.
Visited for an informal business meeting. Sadly no decaf coffee available, WiFi very slow and mobile connection pretty much non existent. 3 hours max stay as non-residents and you must put your car reg in at reception. Honestly not that welcoming, though it was clean and clearly well used by office tenants.
Not sure how to respond to the response left by the owner, so I'm editing here instead. Definitely your place we visited, and at shortly after 10.15am this morning I was told there was no decaf available.
just incredible food!
the new afternoon tea is the best yet! we sampled this for the jubilee and i was just taken aback with every taste! truly amazing as was the service from i think was the owner?
this is what makes this hotel
We ate here before Covid and truly enjoyed the lobster. Such a shame it hasnt returned as we keep visiting Seaham hoping they have returned.
It was a real delight and they were so accommodating to make sure the lunch was fantastic.
We can only wish them well for the future and live in hope ....
Lovely pasta, lovely team! If you like fresh pasta, you're going to love this place. Veronika the owner Is so nice and does the best pasta. It's definitely worth a visit, I'd recommend the Joe's as it has lots of lovely Veggies in it, or the chicken/bacon tomato pasta. Mmm.
Excellent visit. Cafe was warm and inviting. Staff super friendly and great space for young children. We came with our 4.5 year old. Food was delicious, came hot and reasonably priced. Second excellent visit here and will come again for sure.
Very clean. Toilets immaculate.
You get a personal service which is flexible and meets your needs. Everyone is friendly and remembers your name , well behaved dogs are welcome and spoilt. The food is lovely, take out or sit in. Everything has been done to make you feel safe and well fed in these difficult times. I think it is suitable for all types of customer, I do not feel awkward when I am by myself or have my dog.
Lovely girl at the front of it! Even if I was probably the first customer of the day, service was brilliant and quick! God the breakfast bagel and it’s absolutely unreal. Defo a new place to go for breakfast from now on, beats Greggs every time.
Pequeño café encantador con personal amable! Fuimos aquí para el desayuno después de dejar un coche para su MOT en el polígono industrial, muy bonito desayuno casero cocinado con un excelente servicio.
Popped in here whilst work was being done on my car nearby.
Owner (I think) was lovely, very chatty and willing to help with my food intolerance.
Apparently they serve gluten free paninis, would be a lovely little spot for lunch.
My brother has tried just about every Indian restaurant in the North East of England, and I have been with him to a number of what he considers to be amongst the best - which means they have to be good value too. For comparison, we also like Red Hot in Darlington, Ashoka in Seaham and any of the Mumbai chain (Haswell, Hartlepool etc). We go to Tashan for the FOOD. How lovely to be able to have an Indian meal without feeling guilty - the curries are healthy, not laden with fat, and none of the starters are greasy. I love the authentic street food options such as sweet potato chaat, and there are a number of more unusual "home style" dishes - including Indian desserts. Depending on how hungry you are and what you fancy you can have a very filling four course set meal (good value "early bird" available), just a main course, or you can mix and match starters, street food, even fast food (an Indian veggie style burger in a bun with masala chips is a very tasty alternative to a McDonald's!) The Indian breads are light and crisp. Tashan also serve the best mango lassi I have had anywhere - really smooth and fruity, served by the glass or in a big jug. Don't judge this restaurant by the location - the food is of a very high standard and nicely presented, the service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere very relaxed (you don't need to dress up!). Currently my favourite Indian restaurant! Tashan deserve 5 stars for service, food and value (TripAdvisor button not working to give this rating).
