Lovely candlelit afternoon tea on a very cold snowy Sunday. Homemade cakes, sandwiches, scones & trifle and a warm welcome by the lady running the tearoom. A bit of a walk from the centre of Durham in the snow for two visiting ladies, but worth the trek. You do need to pre-book.

Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea experience here with friends yesterday. The two ladies who run it were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The sandwiches, scones, cakes etc were first class. Two us are vegetarian which was no problem at all. Fantastic choice of teas to choose from. Lovely atmosphere.

Found this place online purely by accident, had no idea it had been here for a number of years. Met a friend for a catchup so decided to try it. Wasn't disappointed, cosy and friendly, excellent choice of teas, coffees, food and sweet treats. Very reasonably priced too. Will come again before Christmas and treat ourselves to afternoon tea. Would reccomend.

Worked in Durham for nearly 5 years, don't know how I haven't heard about this hidden diamond - absolutely amazing customer service, and the most wholesome, traditional and personalised afternoon tea experience you can find. Will be returning again

Visited with friends ; one of whom lives in Durham. Our first visit. The premises were difficult to find as the signage is easily missed. Once we had located a car park situated a few yards from the main road we saw a notice board advertising the Tea room. It stated it was closed on the day of our visit ( Monday ). As we returned to the car we noticed a pedestrian and enquired about the Tea room. We were informed it was closed but the café was open and we were directed towards a courtyard area located further in from our car park. We saw the Tea room and adjacent to it was a café . We were disappointed that the Tea room was closed but decided to try the café . I am SO pleased we did. The café is owned by the same people as the Tea room and forms part of it. It is separated by a door. We did have a quick look inside and at the menus. Both looked lovely and we intend to try at a later date. The café is highly recommended. We received a warm welcome from a lady who was one of the owners and was busy baking the food to be sold within. The smell was amazing. The premises were clean, warm and nicely decorated. The atmosphere was relaxing with low level music . The food was lovely . We ordered corned beef pie which was delicious and plentiful. It is worth the effort searching for these premises. My friend who lives locally intends to revisit and I certainly will on my next visit to Durham.

Excellent service and a unique atmosphere make up for spending the time to find this superbly hidden tea/coffee shop, with a lovely sit-down area. I was in the area for business and went there for a cup of coffee after recommendation by a colleague. Very friendly staff, needless to say I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

This tea shop is absolutely perfect. The Victorian era decor is magnificent and the electric fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere. I brought my mum and a few aunties here for high tea. The quality of the food is second to none and you definitely get your money's worth. The owner's are friendly and more than accommodating. If you have leftovers, they are more than happy to box them up for you to take home. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for afternoon tea, high tea or even just a cup of tea. They sell a fantastic array of Canadian loose leaf teas and other local businesses produce. This tea shop really sets the standard for all others.
