Had a lovely meal at mess charcuterie! The staff were so welcoming and friendly especially Maddie! Who’s made a return as the owner! The mess deli board is perfect for 2, really enjoyed my evening here, love the wide range of wines and cocktails, will 100% be coming back for more, especially after hearing the new upcoming menu items!😁

The Mess is a real gem for a lunchtime meal. We shared the charcuterie and the special sausage roll and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend.

Really lovely experience. Food was gorgeous and we were well looked after. The picture is the board we got with a couple of things missing as we forgot to photograph it before we tucked in!!

Absolutely lovely! The food was delicious and the staff were so so lovely :) The whole place had such a nice vibe to it so we ended up staying for another drink after the food ! We got a bite off the specials board and the meat and cheese charcuterie board which was all delicious, we will 100% be returning soon 😁

We have been visiting Mess for sometime now but December we definitely topped the number of visits. The staff are amazing, so welcoming and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The food is delicious and the menu varies on a regular basis. We visit lunch and evening nans enjoy both. Sasha goes above and beyond to ensure people have a wonderful time.

The staff are amazing, so welcoming and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The food is delicious and the menu varies on a regular basis. We visit lunch and evening nans enjoy both. I can’t eat dairy and Sasha goes above and beyond to ensure that I always have something that I can eat.

Unbelievable atmosphere, the food was amazing and Sasha was the warmest of hosts! A must visit!

I’ve been to Mess a few times now, and it’s one of the loveliest bars I’ve ever visited. I was concerned there wouldn’t be too many options for me as a vegan, but Mess were incredibly accommodating and made the most incredible vegan grazing board for me! The atmosphere is super cozy and intimate, and I can’t wait to visit again.

Perfect spot for a quick bite to eat after doing the Sedgefield heritage trail. Enjoyed an nduja paste sandwich in a ciabatta with a (rather small) cappucino. Friendly service and plenty of space. Thanks!

This is a new local restaurant to me, its a lovely relaxing atmosphere and the owner and staff are really friendly when we are in . They have a varied menu, including sandwiches, sharing platters and puddings . It has a licence to sell alcoholic beverages as well as teas and coffees. Would recommend a visit if your in the area

Small, but perfectly formed comes to mind. Compact, but cosy & welcoming We had glasses of wine with a cheese platter. Gluten free was easily available.

My wife and a friend of ours shared a couple of charcuterie boards with added sides of a sausage roll and pate. They were the absolutely gorgeous, in fact, so nice we had to spend the rest of the afternoon and most of the evening drinking cocktails. Sasha is such a good host and nothing is too much trouble for her and the staff. That was my first visit (my wife and her friend had been a couple of times) and we have been back a couple of times since. Best bistro by far in Sedgefield.

Just had our first visit here and I dare say it won’t be the last. The service was excellent, our waitress very friendly. We had the Mess sharing platter for 2, shared a dessert and had a glass of wine each. The bill was £45. Recommended.

On a very hot day we searched for something out of the ordinary and this came up trumps. A satisfying charcuterie board and hummus. Both served with bread. Add in two refreshing mocktails and our appetites were satisfied. Dog friendly. Friendly staff. The opening times on Tripadvisor are wrong, refer to Google for accuracy.

This was an absolutely brilliant place! I came here with a friend and we got to sit outside in the sunshine with our wine and absolutely amazing charcuterie! We went for the standard charcuterie board and I have to say we LOVED the tiny sweet/sour pickled peppers and the balsamic glazed pickled onions which I would never have thought to try! 10/10 would recommend and absolutely am going back soon! Also they sell local honey which was so tasty too if you're interesting.

Perfect little cocktail bar which I'm reluctant to write the review they deserve for fear of us not being able to secure a table in future! We love this place so much - it's our go-to for Friday night cocktails, Saturday afternoon nibbles and antipasti with a lovely glass of Italian red. Or white. Or prosecco... Or a Sunday afternoon cheeseboard with homemade sausage roll. This is our favourite place in Sedgefield. Sacha and Maddie are amazing, welcoming and we always feel very well looked after. Make sure you find it on the map before a visit to Sedgefield and call in - you won't regret it.

Another great visit to Mess Charcuterie and Bar yesterday. Easily the best coffee in the entire village, hence why I had two. I also sampled a delicious ham and cheese sandwich, accompanied by tasty crisps and crunchy balsamic glazed salad. Aside from my menu choices I spent time 'people watching', especially those enjoying the newly available desserts which looked delightful. The service provided by Lesley is stellar and something that I can make or break a visit. Lesley was extremely friendly and attentive whilst being personable and professional. If you haven't paid Mess a visit, you have to go. An independent, rustic and vibrant venue which enhances the village makeup. The last thing we need is a soulless corporate chain encroaching village space and occupying what once was a wonderful establishment. I'm yet to sample the evening vibe but this is something I will do so soon. My food didn't last long enough to take a image of, neither did the miniature chocolates that accompanied my coffee. I will be returning this weekend.

We've been meaning to eat here for a while and eventually got round to it and we're so pleased we did. What a charming place, very informal and almost like being in a friend's house. Staff very attentive and friendly. Ordered the charcuterie board, presentation and quality excellent. Although we don't have a sweet tooth, we shared a ginger pudding with ice cream and thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be going back and soon.

We have been here several times and always really enjoyed it, they serve a selection of starters & Charcuterie boards which are very fresh and are delicious. They have a small bar & some very good wines all reasonably priced as well as draught lagers, it's well worth a visit and one that won't disappoint.
