What a great little bar! We were in Barnard Castle for a week's holiday and struggled to find any pubs that stayed open beyond the time that people had finished eating in them - but we just fancied a couple of drinks on the Saturday night when we arrived! We came across Crobar by accident, following the signs and fairy lights down a narrow little alleyway, and were the first customers because it only opens at 9pm and stays open until late. The bar itself is tiny, really cute and cosy, but it must be great in the summer as there's lots more seating in the outdoor courtyard. The beers were good and cocktails were on offer too. The owners were very friendly and offered us advice of local walks and attractions for our holiday, thank you! We returned on our last day too. (The only reason I'm giving four stars is because the music was so down-beat and uninspiring - sorry - but this can easily be changed. There's a possibility it might have got dancier later on, as at about 10:30 the tables were pushed to one side to make room, but if the early music had been a bit more up-beat we might have stayed longer to find out!)

Excellent breakfast which comes with toast and preserves. The coffee is good which costs £3.20 and £10.00 for the breakfast.Maybe a little on the expensive side as it's not the biggest breakfast but everything on the plate was so good and so nice to get plum tomatoes instead of fried ones.i would definitely recommend this cafe for breakfast and with the tables outside it's a pleasant place to eat it aswell especially when the weather is like it was today

We’ve eaten here many times. Last year I found out I was intolerant to dairy and eggs. Last night the waitress came over to take our order I told have about my intolerances. She got the manager who said everything had ghee in it, I was shocked with his statement most places just fob you off to make money and take a chance on contamination. I really appreciated his honesty, obviously values customer more than money. We left and had the normal steak and chips from a pub. Before I knew about my intolerances I would have the Naga Len…. It’s dynamite!

We ordered two chicken bhuna’s and a Punjabi butter chicken, our Bhunas were ok but my mums so called Buttef Chicken was actually a Korma, we told the manager and although he did offer us a different dish, he was very rude, we said to him that butter chicken should not be coconut flavoured…. He said that if my mum would like to try to make a butter chicken in his kitchen, then serve it to the customers, then see who’s curry people would rather eat! How rude! Photos of so called Butter chicken below

Called into this very popular pub/ restaurant 10th November after walking along the railway path from Romaldkirk. Sunday service was in full swing and although we were there for drinks only the lunches being prepared looked and smelled delicious! Staff were kind and helpful and the ambience delightful. We were let down by our transport arrangements but when this became known to the staff, help was given to us for our return. Cannot give enough praise. Thank you once again.
