Great pub, lovely landlord, great beer & cider plus home made pizzas. Great beer garden over a very, very quiet road. What's not to like?

Great pub with a lovely warm atmosphere. There was I in our group and we all had pizza which were delicious and came out very quickly. Nothing too much trouble ordered pizza without cheese due to an allergy and came out with lots of toppings. Good selection of drinks and dogs are most welcome (usually get treats from the owner).

Lovely friendly local. Landlord had lots of advice on places to visit. We also ate delicious pizzas (no pictures as they were too good to faff around with). Well worth a visit.

The Blacksmiths is a charming country pub..very welcoming, pet friendly, pizzas are fab and the beer is always spot on, also a spacious beer garden no matter what the weather As soon as we sat down the owners came over with treats for our 2 puppies..asked of course first, if they could spoil them. Puppies were totally chilled out so we were very happy. Couldn’t wish for a better dales pub

For those old enough to remember the adverts. If Carlsberg did pubs, they would probably use this place as their blueprint. The Blacksmiths is a beautiful place in a beautiful location. Anthony and Selina cannot do enough for you. The selection of beers, wines and spirits is great. Such a friendly atmosphere and the locals are so welcoming. The dogs are also made to feel so welcome. I’ve read the Avoid review below and want to call Bul*s**t immediately. It sounds like they have written about somewhere else by mistake or they are the type that complain about nothing when they don’t get there own way. I cannot recommend this place enough and look forward to returning sooner rather than later.

Visited this lovely country pub whilst on holiday, beautiful beer garden, very dog friendly, ours was spoilt with treats, variety of pizzas to choose from, we had a meat feast and a vegetable and they were delicious, freshly hand made to order, thank you Anthony (Landlord) for a great relaxing visit, definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Visited with family 3 days in a row while staying in the area . Great traditional pub with fantastic beer garden and friendly locals and visitors all having a craic together Dog friendly with water bowl available for them and treats offered for our dog by the Landlady . Good choice of beer and real ale ( wainwrights was our choice ) . Varied choice of pizzas offered all of which were delicious . Will definitely be back next time in the area . All in all just how a traditional village pub should be . Thanks

Terrible customer service, bloke behind bar moaning he was on his own like everything was too much trouble. We asked for two beers and he had nearly poured the second beer and I kindly asked for a gin and he said ‘I am just getting this sorted first…’. We brought our dog with us who was slightly yappy but nothing major and we were told to ‘quite him down or we would have to sit outside’. Atmosphere was more church than pub like. I would not bring a dog here as you would not be welcomed in to the pub. Pizzas looked kind of basic to say they were ‘homemade’ - clearly the person cooking them does not know what they are doing …

This is an amazing pub served by a real decent fella called Anthony. His pizzas are big and tasty and he has some decent ales and spirits.... Give him a visit if your passing.

What a lovely surprise, only went as it’s literally the only place that does food on a Sunday night for 50 miles. The pub only does pizza but what fantastic pizzas. Warm welcome, good service, clean. Boxed up what we couldn’t eat. Couldn’t have been more helpful. Beautiful setting. Don’t pass this one by, go in and have a drink and a pizza. Bear garden also looks good for hotter night and families. Beyond expectations!

We were here in May and at that time the weather was wonderful and the outside eating area was packed and it was a fantastic experience. We have just been again with the weather much poorer unfortunately but the pizzas were again superb and the excellent Wainwright and Hobgoblin Gold beers were available. We look forward to returning in May.

Staying locally we were really pleased to find the local pub open and serving food. There was a choice of three real ales on tap including some from relatively local breweries, all well served. The food menu is limited to pizzas at the moment but they were delicious and highly recommended. We sat outside in the lovely garden area over the road. A great village pub, well worth supporting!

We were camping in the area and called here for something to eat. It was a sunny evening, so we sat in the shelters in the beer garden. They do yummy home-made pizzas, and serve the always excellent Wainwright beer. I would happily have both...
